So how was the Kikaider Reboot? Did it do well enough to spark momentum for a show?
Also with this and the Gavan series slowly coming back mostly in movies, what other older shows do you think could still come back given the chance?
>Did it do well enough to spark momentum for a show?
Nope. It bombed worse than the Gavan reboot. Reviews said that the movie itself wasn't a disaster though, just not really stand out either.
I saw both Kamen Rider THE FIRST and THE NEXT. THE FIRST was pretty lousy, THE NEXT was marginally better but still not all that good.
I don't know how they were received overall, but I doubt we'll be seeing a third movie.
Huge Kikainerd here. From what I've watched, it's now how I would have done it, but it looks like a good movie. Really hope it gets a sequel, the 01 part of the story has great characters.
>the 01 part of the story has great characters.
Do you mean the TV Series or the manga? Because the series is beyond terrible with the only redeeming quality being the Bijinder/Waruder episodes.
Oh, c'mon. The series is a fucking mess for more than 2/3 of its run. Yeah, it gets awesome near the end but then the final episode is a huge letdown. It's pretty clear that the writters didn't know what to do with it. And as a result, there's no Kikaider OO series.
Why does Kikaider looks like a monster?
Yeah the end pretty much comes out of fucking nowhere and compared to the manga, it's shit, but the series itself is very good! I like how they managed the multiple Hakaiders, then the horror stories were great and once they're donde with all that, we have full android drama with Bijinder and Waruder. The action is amazing too, it's very fast paced and explosive, perfecto for toku. It's a great ride and Ikeda is one hell of a showa hero, wish he did more lead roles, R.I.P.
What would yall think about having these characters just flowing through the shows like this? Like giving them a movie but then having them pop up every now and again in Kamen Rider or Super Sentai?
>Toei in charge of movie-productions
Nobody cares about tv-budget movies... I wish Toho and Tsuburaya would go back to making big-screen Toku movies, the recent Ultraman Zero movies are quality-wise so much above anything Toei produced in over a decade.
Silver Kamen (1971) / Die Silbermaske (2006)
Mirrorman Reflex (2005)
>Mirrorman (????? Mir?man?) is the title superhero of a tokusatsu science fiction/kaiju/superhero TV series, Mirrorman. Produced by Tsuburaya Productions, the series aired on Fuji TV from December 5, 1971 to November 26, 1972, with a total of 51 episodes. This was Tsuburaya Productions' first non-Ultra superhero (even though there were concepts that were similar to Ultraman, which became Tsuburaya trademarks). Like Ultra Seven, Mirrorman was more of a dark and brooding science fiction drama than most other shows of its ilk. But by Episode 26, major changes were forced upon the series by the network (making the action lighter and the hero more like Ultraman), it became a typical action-oriented superhero adventure of its era.
>Over the years, there were several sequel series rumors. In 2005, this somewhat came true in Mirrorman REFLEX, a straight-to-DVD series that would be later compiled into a film. Featuring no characters or connection to the old series, REFLEX has a darker tone on par with the first half of the original television series.
all three Mirrorman Reflex movies can be watched here:
>Mirror Knight, an homage to Mirrorman, appears in the film Ultraman Zero The Movie: Super Deciding Fight! The Belial Galactic Empire.
>Igadicks also owns a tumblr
Proven once again that Wizardfags are tumblords
I just finished the anime and found it pretty good.
I don't know why people don't like it. I thought it was a pretty decent adaptation of the original manga minus the 01 parts.
I'm going to watch the OAV sequel now. I hope it's as good as the series, but I'm skeptical since I heard it's just 5 episodes long.
my biggest problem was that it seemed overly focused on Mitsuko wanting Jiro's metal dick.
Jiro's parts were great. But too much focus devoted to Mitsuko. I really enjoyed the 01 OVA though.
Well, I heard that Kikaider was created in the first place because Hirayama asked Ishinomori to come up with a love story. Maybe they wanted the anime to focus on that angle of the original story?
It's pretty clear that much of this "love story" falls apart when Ichiro/Zero-One is introduced. So the decision to separate the story into two different series with a completely different tone.
>A vengeful young man in a quest for revenge against metamorphic ninjas.
>A band of oni-themed Kamen Riders fighting man eating monsters using musical instruments.
I don't see the resemblance.
you havent seen the show, didnt you? pic related...
also in Hibiki & the 7 War Oni they fight againts Arashis Iron Cross Army
oh man you still post here???? I haven't popped into /m/ for 3/4 years, maybe more.. Wow. Do you still do that radio show you were working on?
Thanks for the reply, nothing up on nyaa, will try to look around next week though my toku resources are way out of date.
Really nice to see you are still around..
There's no market for Ishinomori in the US. The Kikaider anime, the Cyborg 009 remake, the Tokyopop SkullMan and 009, the Comixology mangas, the american comic... Everything failed. So, what's the point?
Maybe some day an obscure Ishinomori title will be published in the west and receive a Eisner or something. Like what happened with Tezuka and Mizuki.
yeah I still do that sorta
it would help if I updated my site more than twice a year, but... yeah
back on-topic maybe try the moonrunes? I might just be completely wrong and have it mixed up with something else, too.
>Michael Uslan (the producer of the Batman films) is a huge Ishinomori's fan and bought the rights
Which Batman films? The Nolan ones? Ugh, no thank you, I don't want shitty grimdark Ishinomori bastardation
It stars Sid as a man-whore with Lionmaru powers and it's great.
Kikaidernerd here. You can find 02 on amazon, it's pretty bad but has some interesting stuff. As I understand, the only Kikaider thing that hasnt been released somehow in english is the Inazuman crossover with 02
By different he ment different to the other heisei series. Remember that back then we just got done with Decade and W was indeed starting a different trend in KR. I don't think he has ever said he totally disliked something KR (well maybe the manga where V3 bitchlaps Junko)
The first part is an amazing love letter for the 70s crazy style of toku.
The second part is regular Noguchi weirdness. But still pretty awesome. Also, >DAT MUSIC
Yeah, that happened in a showa manga drawn in the style of Ishinomori. V3 (transformed) bitchlaps Junko because she hugged him... wich I'm pretty sure would have decapitated her. Couldnt find scans though
