Pretty funny how some of us were expecting him to become the Char of the series. Maybe he smelled it too. >If I let this faggot live, I'll just be jobbing to him for the entire show. Better take him out while he's not in a robot.
>>11414296 >Someone said he wants to be a big hero so that he can go back to Mars and shift the power balance there away from the royal family. His plan was basically "fuck earth for having a nice planet but not appreciating it enough (according to me anyway), fuck mars, it sucks living there, and fuck our management, who the fuck thought a monarchy was a good idea, fuck everybody for making us hate terrans but fuck terrans anyway, if i kill the princess once the emperor bites it and i have a nice shiny planet of my resume we can make some progress".
Understandable motivations, the critical flaw was where he tries to commit genocide because fuck everybody. Saazbaum was a pretty angry guy at the end of the day.
>>11413390 Eh, they're fine. Everybody was kind of in that "we're injured but not enough to bite it or anything" state, and once Saucybum bit it and the Aldnoah drives shut down we can assume that Earth didn't have too much trouble shutting down the resisting Landing Castle with their own kataphrakts.
>>11414374 >Agryre Skipped legs day, and Sassybum's two bodyguards or whatever Martian Kataphracts can do the same shit his Kat can. >Hellas Vanilla Hellas without the fists is decent. But lets be clear here, they aren't going to sell much of anything in terms of playmo unless S2 sees a rapid turn around.
>>11414382 Dioscuria using his underlings' powers was kind of lame, kind of stole their thunder. But honestly I love all the Martian kataphrakts to bits with the possible exception of Nilokeras. They're all so grandiose and over the top. I wish they'd gotten someone skilled at the grunt aesthetic to design the Sleipnir/Aerion though.
>>11414423 I dislike the giant stabilizer wings too, but overall I think the KGs are way too tall and slim. If they spent more of their time hovering and skimming I could understand it, but since they act like giant infantry I think they ought to be more robust than that. The way they go CLANK CLANK CLANK when they move is cool but belies their seeming agility. They look fast, proceed to spend most of their time standing in place, and they fail to look either heavily armoured or heavily armed (it's the bullpup-sized rifle and lack of bazooka). They look like gunships and are treated like tanks.
Do you think that knight-level Kats like Argyre and Nilokeras can move in space, or can only count-level Kats like Tharsis, Dioscuria, and Hellas operate in space? Are there Space Carriers as well as Sky Carriers?
>>11414481 Merchandising is merchandising, at the end of the day. There is no difference between pandering with model kits for mecha fans and model kit hobbyists or pandering for waifufags with hug pillows and figurines.
>>11414843 I don't really care if Eggs got scrambled or not as long as the fucking princess doesn't survive AGAIN. Despite being supposedly the emotional character she manages to have less emotion than Inaho who has entered a state of complete zen and might as well be a robot as far as emoting goes.
So, personal preferences on the matter aside, what does everyone think the chances of Asseylum and Inaho being alive are?
I say 90% for Asseylum. The whole "her whereabouts are unknown" line in the epilogue is a pretty strong giveaway.
I give Inaho 60%. The only reason I put it that "low" is because it'll take a pretty big asspull for him to survive since his headshot was slightly less ambiguous than Seylum's. Aside from that, Inaho is what makes the entire Terran side of the cast (which is nearly all of the show's total cast) relevant. What are they going to do if he's dead? For that matter, what's Slaine going to do? Judging by his actions in the last ep, it seems like he's fully sided with Vers at this point. At least if Inaho's still around he'll have an opponent.
>>11417921 >Inaho is what makes the entire Terran side of the cast (which is nearly all of the show's total cast) relevant. What are they going to do if he's dead? Good news! S2 is gonna focus on Slaine and Mars side. Inaho was never relevant. >>11418092 Except the writers just bend to his will and made Martians suddenly stupid when around him, they can pretty much do that with any character given how poorly they've made the battles.
I'm sure Slaine has every reason to kill the Emperor and destroy Vers for no reason at all.
Then again, given how thoroughly retarded some writers can be, Slaine coming to the conclusion that he should do that because a guy who told him he was going to kill the princess killed the princess wouldn't surprise me.
>>11418532 He tried spending most of the series trying salvage the fuck up of Trillam at killing the Princess. Every other objective Saazbaum did, such as the coup, invasion of the Earth, dispatching and removing Cruheto, and keeping Slaine from betraying him was effectively done.
The only failing he had was not surviving. So he hardly didn't "do anything" right.
I personally doubt it; the only reason Inaho used the KG-6 was because he was used to it and want to train himself to use the KG-7 instead as long as there was a KG-6 to use, whilst Rat has used the KG-7 in combat so far.
If she does use the KG-6, or even just paint her KG-7 orange she'd better get to killing some more Orbital Knights to strike the fear of the Orange Devil into their hearts.
>>11418630 Saazbaum didn't care about getting killed by Slaine after he accomplished Asseylum's assassination. Slaine will keep him alive and Saazbaum is going to be his right hand when Slaine takes power of Vers Empire with his Aldnoah
The schoolkids got drafted on the basis that military training was part of their curriculum. I can't remember him being referred to by a rank either, but given his staus as a drafted soldier he must have had one, they just never used it.
>>11417921 >So, personal preferences on the matter aside, what does everyone think the chances of Asseylum and Inaho being alive are? It would be pretty stupid, and mean that the writers want to have their cake and eat it too, but doing a "Game of thrones" style character killing and afterwards denying all the weight the scene had by making people not be dead. That said, the writers are shitty enough to try it.
Honestly, given the end of this season I can see why Urobutcher disowned it so vehemently. I wouldn't want the credit for that ending either.
It was like the writer was trying to be stereotypically urobutcher (hey, lets kill off some dudes!) but without understanding why Urobutcher does it or how.
The Princess already had her "died but not really" card get played TWICE so far. The first one gets an easy pass since her having a body double is pretty reasonable, but the second one means she has used up her plot armor. But by ending the season with her and Inaho presumed dead after on-screen bullets, the writers have put themselves in a serious pickle.
If those characters die, then the entire last season we just watched was a waste of fucking time. The characters that actually had a plan are out of the picture. Inaho on tactics and using the Princess for the endgame was the only reasonable chance of victory that the Terrens had against Vers. The Duecalion is worthless with the princess dead. Slaine doesn't even have a motivation as far as we know if she is gone, and the only villain we have to go on is only slightly more likely to be alive. So why the fuck should anyone who has been watching so far want to KEEP WATCHING enough to come back in 4 months after the break?
Worse yet, if those characters live? The writers lose any credibility they might have otherwise had. Death is meaningless and all the tricks are cheap.
It was an effective suckerpunch, sure. But they blew their load on it and now they have nothing left. They wrote themselves into a such a corner that the ONLY OPTION they have after 12 episodes is "make up a whole lotta bullshit to keep the plot going" pretty much regardless of what happens next.
>>11419315 >If those characters die, then the entire last season we just watched was a waste of fucking time. Not really. Same as with GoT when people kept watching after Sean Bean died. The landscape changed and, ideally, other characters should step into the spotlight and gain new dimension, change their motivations, etc. Ideally, at least. We'll see what happens.
Me, I honestly wish what we'll get is Slaine defending the planet Asshime loved so much with the Tallgeese.
GoT had the advantage of having a lot of characters that mattered to pick up the slack.
This isn't like killing Sean Bean at the end of season 1. This is more like killing all of the Starks, even John Snow, in the season 1 finale. Sure, you have dragon girl and Tyrion left, but now you don't have anything but minor characters left at the wall and Winterfell. Huge chunks of the story just lost their viewpoint characters and any plot momentum.
>>11419315 >Honestly, given the end of this season I can see why Urobutcher disowned it so vehemently. I wouldn't want the credit for that ending either. Is it true he did? I saw it posted online but couldn't find the tweet itself.
>>11419652 There's like 30 Orbital knights who could be interesting, other people in the rest of Earth and Vers. Marito could actually do something in the fucking show instead of just showing us why he couldn't stop pussying out. Earth people could salvage Aldnoah drives from the castle and Slaine could power them... The unexplored potential is still big, even if the previous main characters are dead. Again, not saying they'll make good use of it; just that they could.
>>11419692 I think it's alright. Feels like we've been driven through a long magic trick with a great pledge and turn, but if the final part doesn't pay off the whole thing'll come apart and be invalidated. So far I've enjoyed them but have a fear that the end will be disappointing.
>>11412938 Someone already made the "Saazbaum did nothing wrong" joke. Regardless, I loved the guy, its not often you see a well made villain, especially compared to the recent /m/ villain variety Valvrave's baddies blew. My only complaint on the guy was his mech was just a combination of the 3 first bosses. Still looked badass though.
Props to A1 for starting strong and not dropping the ball midway!
Also, cuz reasons: Better ending than Captain Earth. Aldnoah was the best mecha of the season *drops microphone*
>>11415299 >TE look like Unicorn in comparison Ain't that the truth. Bluray actually improved on the series quite a bit.
Funny thing is your comparison is actually relevant it's awful fishy how me and my friend kept getting flash backs to Muv-luv while watching this. Expelled from paradise isn't out so i can't say anything, there's no proof about pmmm except readers feel there's an eerie similarities.
Butcher however did mention ML here in the Gargantia panel. http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Nitro%2B_Q%26A_Panels_at_Animagic_2013
>>11421149 how's you're first week on the board going?? I think /m/ could care less about that point/joke, since Fukukda is the current industry target for head-shaking and facepalming sexual fanservice these days, and YOOOO Boku no Pico stuff is nothing in the realm of those A/Z scenes anyway. Boku no Pico was actually happy.
and it's not as if we care particularly care when directors do that sort of stuff. Just look at Yas.
>>11421186 "boku no pico guy" has little meaning on this board because
1) it's an off-the mark forced meme 2) homo, fanservice, homo fanservice doesn't shock us due to fact that 3) other, more relevant /m/ producers or writers have worked on gay shit in the past 4) we're mostly occupied with busting Fukuda's balls for that sort of thing now anyway
>>11421202 1) it's not a meme. In this case it's a simple observation. 2) Nobody said it was shocking, but it is there, which merits drawing parallels to author's previous works. 3) And? Nobody said it was a bad thing. That's all you, baby. 4) Stop making lists, you assblasted faggot.
>>11421222 I don't know, man. Writing for hentai and writing for mainstream market shonen with merchandising and sponsors are two different things. If you compare previous works, it should be of the same genre, plus we're assuming that only one person makes all the decisions in the script? And arent influenced by the rest of the staff? Well and good to joke "sasuga boku no pico writer" but... It doesnt mean much if the whole sasuga thing is neither an expected pattern or sole responsibility
Kind of thing
And honestly if you do want to compare, Im drawing a blank for when Boku no Pico went bible black or something relevant to that gunkink scene, Pico was pretty vanilla happy go lucky pedo times.
ENZAI would be the comparable hentai OAV published around the same time as Boku no Pico, since that was nonstop gay prison rape with nothing but despair and uselessness. It was even prussian aesthetics. But Enzai of course isnt some 4chan meme, because it was shit with shit budget and (and the game was better)
>>11421327 Eh, one can't deny that the whole Slaine torture scene, hell most scenes involving Slaine and other males period, feel a little homoerotic. Even if it's not the same kind of homoeroticism as Boku no Pico. The comparison would have happened regardless, even if the dude had nothing to do with the scene in particular. And what if he did? Creators put their fetishes in their work all the damn time. That's not a big deal.
>>11419726 So many plotlines have been aborted halfway through that it just feels like the whole thing has been an exercise in stalling. He's so invested in bucking audience expectations that he doesn't allow himself to ever actually DO anything. If he goes for the expected Dany-saves-everyone-from-ice-zombies ending it'll just seem hollow now. The only way I can see this working out is if everyone dies and Westeros just keeps on ticking into the industrial age, and finally modernity.
Inaho is hardly an irreplaceable loss, especially when he was basically little more than an audience cipher with hardly any development or defining moments.
The only character whose death impacts the proceedings is the Princess, and even then, with the show going all 'Her whereabouts are still unknown', you can bet a decent amount that there's a strong likelihood that the show will bring her back in some dumb manner.
Is there any chance of Cruhteo coming back? Knowing he's not a traitor kinda makes me wish he was still alive. It would be pretty interesting to see the story's depiction of Cruhteo and Slaine get shuffled. As in Cruhteo becomes the loyal guy who fights against his own empire and Slaine becomes the self-righteous fag who wants to tear Earth apart.
>>11424677 Maybe. But Eggs was the only thing making Terrans not suck dick at everything. That coupled with the princess giving them Aldnoah. And, well, so much for that. And now that Saucebum, the guy who was masterminding shit, is ALSO dead, what's left?
That's why I said plot went to shit. It's not just about Eggs.
>>11424787 Now the princess AND two Counts are dead. The Versians are not gonna take that shit lying down, and are gonna want to eradicate the terrans. On Earth there's plenty of Aldnoah drives the people there have proven they ca salvage and adapt, and Slaine can power them. He needs to become an hero.
>>11424817 Taking Slaine's track record into consideration, the Terrans would have better luck if he tried to help Vers. Either way, it makes little sense for him to suddenly decide to help the Terrans.
>>11424856 Except for the fact that he is a Terran and Asshime friggin loved Earth. And all his life on Vers was one long string of bullying, it's not like he'll love them now. People overestimate Sass-baum's last scene's important for Slaine.
>>11425401 But the show has repeatedly shown the Terrans as completely incompetent. They can't even bring down grunt ships, they're fucking useless and their planet is pretty much conquered. Even Inaho could only reach the castle because he had Aldnoah on his ship. Without it, Earth is doomed.
>>11425417 I agree that a power balance should've been stated from the beginning, like >Vers has cool as fuck Kats, but >Earth has so much more troops and resources they can counter a head-on attack
so that the martians would've had to resort to blitzkrieg tactics to gain the upper hand, and the terrans would've been able to fight back eventually. But the show continuously demonstrated that Earth by itself cannot even repel one single castle.
