Group build is finished, and we have winners for the straight build category and custom categories. Entry photos link in end of OP. Picture collage, and honorable mentions to come(?)

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

It's coming. Eventually. I'm getting it almost just for the shield
and to add that core fighter to my collection.
Since the stand connector is on the pack itself rather than in the G-self's crotch, I think we can do some pretty fun modding stuff with that backpack.
>he hasn't watched the recent episodes
High Torque Pack kit when?
that thing was fucking stupid.
>no on-board weapons
>cant use handheld weapons
>armor in the wrong places
>engines pointed in the wrong direction
>does nothing but sit in the hanger then jump around on its own
why did they think this was a good idea? why do they keep slapping on new armor packs that they dont even know will work with no input from the pilot?
>hey there are 2 teams of airborne high mobility MS heading our way, better slap on a huge hulking armor pack with no ranged weapons
>oh btw it will take half an episode to calibrate and you'll need to get out to actually punch or kick things
kit unbought so fast.
>but I wonder if you can put the packs on the Arcane.
You could with a very minor bit of modding. The G-Self's rear torso has two parts: the inner part has 2 holes for the now standardized backpack attachments for GBF stuff, and another piece covers it up to give the G-Self it's single-slot attachment point. The G-Arcane has the standard 2 hole attachment point on part A1 12, so just place G-Self's back piece onto the Arcane (may need to shave off some of the sides), then attach the G-self specific backpacks on top of that.
Firstly, wrong thread topic, but whatever
>why do they keep slapping on new armor packs that they dont even know will work with no input from the pilot?
Because they had been working on attaching the high torque pack before they knew wuxia were attacking. Remember, the Amerians are trying to figure out how these Rose of Hermes blueprints. While they need Bellri to test them, it's clear to the Amerians that Bellri's only there to spy on them, so as amicable as they treat each other, they're keeping their own interests in mind first.
>that thing was fucking stupid.
It tanked beam rifle shots. With no beam shield. In UC. That alone should tell you something.
>kit unbought so fast.
Well, there's no kit of it in future release schedules.
Different anon, but I just putting the Ez-ARMS on the GSelf and part of the back collar is in the way. Also putting the G-Self's rear torso on the Arcane doesn't go in all the way, but if you want to mod the parts then it should be able.
Actually you don't need anything special to mount the Atmospheric backpack on the Arcane.
There is really little comparison between the Technique Impossible
EVAs and the PG. The Technique Impossible Eva kits are perhaps the
most complicated and sophisticated models ever made, even moreso than any Gundam PG. The TI EVA kits
feature an entire internal armature of a complexity I have never seen
before in a for sale kit. As an example I believe there are something
like 50 pieces used for the construction of the spine/neck alone. The
internal structure has clavicles, a multiply ball jointed spine with
a limiter built in to keep the torso from twisting too far without
the appropriate downward bend to the spine.
Over all of this you than add a latex rubber skin, and then affix the
armor over the skin.
Visually, the most notable difference between the two kits are the
fact that the TI kits are a bit smaller than the PG, and more
strikingly you notice that while the PG is based on the static line
art, the TI kits are based on the lankier "angry" EVAs as they appear
in combat in the anime.
All in all, The Technique Impossible EVA kits are by far the most
complicated and technically impressive models I have ever seen
outside of a stop-motion armature. Back when I liked EVA, I started
building one of them (I bought them all as well as the PG), and never
completed it due to getting fed up with the series before finishing
Good luck finding one for a reasonable price though.
Just got my Black Friday Banzai Hobby Gunpla in the mail. A HG Kampfer and a HG Zaku II. That's 2 out of 6 kits I'll need for my custom. Also the BF gift they gave me were the Kshatriya clear folder. The one I didn't want.
So which kit should I build first?
>Not loving the motherfucking Grimoire.
Just caught up on the /m/ threads from yesterday, holy shit, revolver Jegan is the best. Makes me happy to be alive.
More on topic, I'm contemplating getting the zaku sniper. Is it any good? Is the knee stand gimmick good?
That's a little disappointing. But the crouching snipe is still a nice pose.
One more question. Is the gimmick knee specific to the zaku 1 leg, or could I pop it on any old zaku? I'm planning a kit bash.
>We'll get the finished post up before Thanksgiving I said, we'll get everything shipped out too
I THINK everything but the RG Exia has been sent out, and that's gonna get sent out soon.
The COllage and Honorable Mentions will be coming sometime soon, we're just not sure when. Hopefully before Christmas.
Been working on this guy and its quite a lot of fun. It's good to get back to the glorious MG inner frame.
Really can't wait to finish the strike pack and slap it on along with the edgie 9000 arm blade weapons.
Mfw light reflection looks like nubs.
On that note, the nubs aren't so bad but still need some work. I messed up and sliced my finger but just more blood for the Gunpla gods.
Sorry for the ghetto setup, please no salt
They're not that solid once you look at them close and long enough.
I'll make one now since I've been thinking about making one anyway.
>They're not that solid once you look at them close and long enough
I know the feeling man. Not from pla per se, but I show my music to people when I absolutely hate the version of whatever song I'm playing, and most of the time they're like "It sounds good man." Familiarity leads to contempt, and we're not completely intimate with your Stamens and Zetas and what not.
Just ordered this thing.
Haven't built a pg in ten years, but I've had a hankering to build one lately.
amidoinitrite : http://anewtranslator.imgur.com/
Sorry it took longer. I was too anal to let the RG ones undone without the title image like the RX-78-2 that I had done long ago. Autism/10.
A lot of them NEED to be retaken (RX-78-2, Stamen, as well as Nu new shots with fix if I ever get around to it. RX ones look like shit and need re-edit as well.)
PG Strike body is pretty damn sexy.
Has anyone here tried liquid masking? Cause I would rather paint the gold on my sinanju then use stickers and I think liquid mask might be way to go.
Do a reverse wash. Paint the piece gold then do a enamel wash over the piece in blade to paint the recessed areas, then use a qtip wetter with enamel thinner to scrub off any excess enamel. Obviously put on a lacquer clear coat between the gold and black wash.
I want to get it on it as well. God knows the Nu would have been 1000 times easier and better with liquid mask.
The surface paint must be cured before application, yes?
Highly highly recommended. It can pull off the layer beneath when you remove the mask otherwise. Never had it happen to me on a big scale, primer really helps keep the masked paint down.
Also go find something which can thin the liquid mask you wish to use. Getting a favourite paintbrush all globbed up is just saddening.
Thanks for the tip.
Either I am just shit with masking tape, or I keep getting shit masking tape. Even with pressing edges down with finger nails and what not, things still seep. Worse with hand paint, still small seeps with spray. I mean it's down to the awkward surfaces, but I'd hardly need to mask if the surface was easy to work with...
That's one of the reasons why I really liked anon's Ex-S entry with the two tone blue.
I know, I kid.
Can I watch?
Only if you're a Gendum.
I'm not, actually.
I swear, if I didn't have hot chocolate, mornings would be unbearable.
Dragon dildos for everyone I swear to god if it keeps up.
It'll be a long delay to respond to emails today. Today is the first day of moving out business.
Happened to be near my local Barnes and Noble earlier today so I decided to go see how their gunpla stock was. I found this single case, with gundam stuff only on this one side.
2 MG Heavyarms EW
2 MG Wing Zero EW
3 HG destroy with headstand
4 RG Destiny
A bunch of HG Deathscythe and some MG deathscythe Hell
1 HGSengoku Astray
2 HG Fenice behind the astray
The case display was all assault kingdom figures. But they only had a single Assault Kingdom Jegan for sale, like $10
North Carolina, From what I've heard stock in BnN are all the same anyways
There really aren't any model stores in NC, at least in the triangle. Other than Micheal's which only carries cars and planes really.
You bully, there's the original Irivine in my country and no Gunpla
I build plenty, I have over 30 kits, I just don't want to put all the effort in that other people do. Snapfagging and basic nub removal is my preference and my comfort zone, I'd rather be in a place that welcomes that kind of mentality than "SNAPFAG SHITTER."
>wonder what the fuck is going on
>check both threads
To be totally fair, never have I once said I was good... And my trip has other purpose that I forget for the best of times
It's not about whether it's good or not, it's about just owning it for the novelty
I genuinely have a copy of this from when I was a kid and would watch it every time I was at my grandparents'
It's a bootleg Korean Gundam that got dubbed into English, that is nothing Gundam other than stolen character designs
Our heroes are Char who is Amuro under the mask
Kycilia Zabi who is Sayla
and Hayato who is a robot and wears a bucket at one point
Also at one point they fight Dozle Zabi who is green...
Don't ask me why this got dubbed and released on VHS in the UK
>not being general dicks to each other
Many of you use tripcodes.
Your jokes have nothing to do with Gunpla and sound like something a middle schooler would find funny.
You all talk about your personal lives like close buddies.
And now you're sending each other dildos "for teh lulz XD"
"Hugbox" is an understatement.
I'm very interested in this nonsense.
As for everything else, why can't we must accept eachother faults and all? Sure, I have dislikes but I won't limit other people because of it.
>And now you're sending each other dildos "for teh lulz XD"
You know that's just one anon joking, right? There's only one person sending anything and that's Jegan being a nice guy.
Actually, ANT was only brought up because you all worship him so much. If you actually read the thread you would see that we didn't say anything bad about him.
It's you snapfags that are annoying as piss.
okay new topic:
Do any of you guys get model burnout? I've been doing this shit for a decade and still like it, but every once in a while I need like a one or two month break before I get in the mood to build gunpla.
I'm a newfag to model kits, but I get burned out on video games pretty easily. I have Pokemon right next to me but I can't really be bothered to play it. I tend to get bursts where I play for hours on end without breaks; I didn't even consider playing through MGS2+3 until I had that feeling that I could play through in one or two play sessions.
I get that with extensive builds. If I spend too much time in a session, I generally put it off to the side for later.
Though tonight... Tonight I get to start on Shin Matsu's Hi-Mo Zaku 2.0. Stoked.
>No, at least I'm not.
You'd be surprised. There are quite a few who post in both threads pretty regularly. Overall /m/ does have more snapfitters, but that's more because they have more people new to the hobby and more posters in general. And overall the skill on this board has been improving and catching up to /toy/, where the shitposting has also become far less than it was a year ago.
Stop this board war crap, it has no purpose other than stirring up shit.
Next time I go visit my grandparents I'll try and get a hold of it and record if onto the PC and try streaming it at some point, they'll probably have kept it since they never chuck anything out
>anon asks ANT for imgur
>ANT makes imgur
>he gets scapegoat BTFO
Indeed. And you know what? Maybe I'll just snapfag this one. Top coat it with over the top decals and post it all over /toy/ and demand they acknowledge ita perfection.
So what I'm getting is, I shouldn't be nice? Alright then. Christmas Gunpla is ruined for everyone!
>tfw I can't afford gunpla for a while
Last gunpla for the next couple of months: HG Jesta Cannon or HG Crossbone Gundam X1
>Top coat it with over the top decals and post it all over /toy/
Funny, cuz the ANT's Stamen is pretty much that with some repaint and it got made the OP pic one of the few times he went over to /toy/ to post.
>Do you have like some list of everything you did for it?
Pretty much just doven wold arms and torso slapped onto a zaku III custom, with the barrels on most of the guns replaced with pieces of runner and a scratch built waist to make the parts fit together. There's a couple other small things but that's the general gist of it.
The guy is full of crap. I post snapfit stuff on /toy/ all the time and don't get shit on for it unless I forget a nub in a really obvious spot (And /m/ will point that out too). And plenty of people post simple topcoated straight builds pretty regularly as well with no issue.
And? Everyone has adifference preference. Do you like metal? Too bad, Master Jazz race. Everyone is allowed to do what they want. If they are happy with what they did, let them be happy. Criticize if you want. Who are you to dictate someone's happiness and proudness? Its all art and art is objective. Get fucked.
and no, Christmas Gunpla isn't ruined and over. No one have a stroke over it. Twas a joke.
Kind of, you need to mod several of the pegs (Shoulders and bicep mostly) and scratchbuild part of the waist to make it compatable and raise it up a bit to clear the megaparticle cannons, but after that its mostly just fixing seams and filling gaps.
>and it got made the OP pic one of the few times he went over to /toy/ to post.
That doesn't mean shit, once a pic of mine got made a OP pic and it was just two OOB zeon kits brofisting over a box.
No panel lining, no paint, no top coat, no mods.
OP pic means shit, it's just something somebody from the general made so to keep continuity between threads.
He was saying that ANT has posted on /toy/ and made the OP pic there with a mostly topcoated straightbuild before with no problems. He was even complimented in that thread for the nice job he did.
There really isn't much difference between the boards other than number of posters really.
How about we just post our builds and don't care about what anyone says otherwise. This isn't GBWC. So long as your not posting Red Cliff I could hardly give a damn about quality unless you ask how to improve.
It's a waste of space/breath to bitch about it. The threads won't change and 4chan won't change. Ever. Deal with it.
Give it a shot. I was terrified of fucking up on some of my first customs, but sheets of plastic aren't really that hard to work with. Modding is basically just glueing stuff to other stuff, filling gaps/uneven parts with putty, and then lots and lots of sanding.
How have you not sanded things before if you're at this stage, may I ask? It is one of those basics taught along with "don't cut too close to the part or you risk gouging".
Are you a hobby knife god at clean cuttings?
>Are you serious or is this a clever ruse?
To the anon who wanted to see a Mega Ride Launcher on a Hazel, I just bought a Hazel Custom. Both items should come in at around the same time, Christmas-ish.
I'm calling it the Hazel Cannon.
For the stuff like files, I class them to the likes of sandpaper. eBay ones that don't look like they'll break and you should be fine. They're not for finer for so it should be okay if it isn't pristine branded.
Always brings a smile to my face when this is brought up.
Also, what happened to this thread, I come home after working ten hours, get on here to see what everybody's doing, and people are talking about dragon dildos and Char vibrators, what the fuck?
I'm not the only one who has an urge to take a black edge marker/pen (what the hell are those called) to figurines on my shelf?
Like the ones you use on gunpla on panels line and stuff.
So what's the latest thing that made you go "What the fuck?" For me it's the Banshee Norn I just built. 4 beam saber handles, 0 beam saber blades. I mean I have spares, but seriously, they can't cost that much to add.
>Cleaning and condensing boxes
>Keep finding stuff I forgot about
>Desk is a mess
Why am I having so much fun with this?
Will sanding the top coat off cleaning remove it? I want to remove some nubs kits I had done when I was a beginner. Might paint them as well.
HG G-self's arm. Its arm has a full inner frame, which is fantastic, but its humerus bone/frame is at a back-bent angle to the radius/ulna. It's the armor on top that forces it into a 90-degree bend, and that can be fairly easily rectified.
It's like the suit gains flexibility/mobility as it loses more and more of its photon armor...
stripping is almost always better than sanding if you are completely removing paint of whatever kind. This is only true if you test pieces and make sure you know how your parts will react, but it's much less labor intensive and you don't run the risk of rounding off parts or killing details.
I was more confused than mad about it
I guess it was because of the led gimmick and not wanting it to shine through the vents
honestly I wish they had not done the psychoframe and had just dedicated more effort to the rest of the kit
>Part separation on not only the chest vents, but the head vents too.
>Seam lines well hidden for the most part and the only really obvious ones are on the back of the forearms where there is no place to hide them.
>Swing out ball jointed shoulders
>Clear beams for the sabers instead of one solid piece
>Separate clear piece for forehead sniping camera
>Multiple different hands for posing that use a peg to secure the weapon to them on the trigger finger ones
>"Feels dated" because they didn't give it double jointed elbows
You guys sound spoiled on modern kits. GM Sniper II is a pretty damn nice kit all around.
I didn't say it feels ancient or anything, just that it feels dated. The lack of articulation on the elbows on this kind of kit REALLY hurts it. It'd be like if the God or Shining Gundams didn't have well articulated limbs.
Overall it is a nice kit, just those elbows are killin me. I might have to pick up a second just to custom mod those elbows to give them more articulation and make it so it can do the cover-art pose.
>All the color and details are stickers/waterslides
It's the HGFA Tallgeese again.
>custom mod those elbows to give them more articulation and make it so it can do the cover-art pose.
But on the cover art its elbows are only bent at 90 degrees.
That's not a possible pose however. The arms can't bring themselves that close to the head. The upper arm there is clearly shorter than it is in reality.
Also the waist has very little articulation so I'd have to modify that too.
I know... it's terrible.
And that has nothing to do with the elbows. And while not exactly the same, you can get the arms into a similar pose.
Yea, this is the pose mine is in currently.
It just needs a bit more articulation so I can bring the sniper rifle up to the the eye and articulate the neck and waist a bit more.
Bought myself the GM Sniper II and Mk II + Flying Armor for my first kits. I realize I probably should have asked around for general tips. I've read the guide and have the tools, not planning on painting. Did I make a good pick?
Oi... why does it have to be so busy today? You think ringing up people and informing them to order in advance since we're moving and will be closed would have helped. Instead, they ignore it and place "urgent" orders. Fml.
Anyways. What do I get to look forward tonight with Shin's Hi-Mo Zaku 2.0? Any weird joints or issues to worry about?
>Oi... why does it have to be so busy today? You think ringing up people and informing them to order in advance since we're moving and will be closed would have helped. Instead, they ignore it and place "urgent" orders. Fml.
As generous as you are, THAT is the kind of blogshit that isn't welcomed.
Keep it plamo.
I have one pre oredered.
That shot is pretty nice, but I die a little inside eveytime I see one of those Zeta pictures with half of the head hidden.
This guy gets it.
But that's how the kit is. Because it has such a high chest, it looks all the more derpy when looking straight or worse, up because the neck isn't all that pretty. That shot is only about 90% chin down, as well as being shot from lower than chest level looking up to suggest scale.
The only instances where whole head looks good is side turn or Gundam Evolve Omega cover/MG Z3 cover pose. Other than that, it's hard not to have chin down in stand-by pose.
And I like head down poses. It's just more prominent on the Z3 because of the way its designed.
Building the Blue Destiny Unit 1 right now and I gotta say, I really wish it had red and blue colored thrusters. The stickers are... sad to say the least.
But everything else thus far is really great. I know there's a BD unit 2 but is there a BD unit 3?
The shield is the main piece I was wondering about. I might have to get the other 2 BD units now. Do the other two come with EXAM eye pieces? I'm a little sad this one only has a sticker over the cool visor, I'll have to paint the clear piece later. Anyone know what clear paint is the best for it? Need something a little redder than the Beam Saber kind.
Pic related worth it? Its the Tamiya 74001 Side Cutters. The ones I have are starting to wear out but they were for a starter. Was just wondering if these cutters are worth the price?($22) Amazon Prime crap.
cutters are cutters, just get something from a hobby or craft store. they cut plastic. that's all you need since you sand on use a hobby knife to remove the nub. ANYthing work for cutting part off the runner.
I need a better camera.
Any suggestions? It needs to be cheap.
Are you looking at point-and-shoot or DSLR?
Kinda hard if you're after quality. It's something you invest in, not throwaway.
Disclaimer : too poor to afford anything decent.
Gundam F91. I love the F91 but I don't know what was wrong with me that day and I fucked up the kit really bad to the point where when I was done it pained me to look at it. So I just bent it apart with my hands.
What was it Anon.
speaking of robert, he's been giga-ded, but he's been doing lots of written reviews on hlj's site. too bad it's so disorganized that you can't really get to them all.
vegeta came back, so that's neat I guess.
it prompts you to put some actual effort on it, can't wait for mine to arrive along the mg nu gundam
I started to work in the hg double X, but I have to get my hands on some third party holographic stickers for the panels, so it won't be done anytime soon
I practiced painting on it, and am using it to practice modifying parts.
I was it in the store and thought "yeah, no, I don't care if I fuck this up. It's only $15".
As far as I'm concerned it's destroyed, if I do anything useful with it in going to turn it into a red cliff... And keep cutting up parts of it.
This. Most of us have something that's shameful. However we're not all attention whores about it going "Oh yea, well I made a thing. What thing? I won't say! GUESS FOR MY AMUSEMENT!"
Back to actually Gunpla related though, does the 00 Seven Sword use 4 LEDs? And if so can I wire them all together or do I have to turn each one on and off manually? Also is there a visible switch that's easily accessible? Lastly, if I can wire them together, has anyone ever wired them all to a single action base that plugs into the wall?
I have yes. It was for a custom.
I'm just replying to posts that like 12 people will see. I made one comment and people started responding, is that my fault? This clearly isn't about attention. I just know that if I spoiled it here, it would get out else where. And that's not very fun. Just ignore it.
Also I realize the irony of calling shit on attention whoring and then using a trip.
You're on anon. It's not going to "get out" no one will know it was you. You're anonymous, that's the whole point.
Building the lightning saix as my first HMM kit
I would build multiple different parts, and put them aside to not be used for another 2 pages in the guide.
It just seemed like an odd order to do things
Building the tertiary accents and structure first, then putting it aside
And then building the primary structure and sticking all the other already built stuff on it
old pic but still wIP, I'm a slow builder
I haven't checked up on gunpla in a while and was disappointed to find that this beauty was all grey and white. It's so bland without any color. I guess I should give a go at painting. Anyone plan on painting theirs?
Did you do that Deathscythe Hell Custom with the feathers?
Did I get it right?
MG Shenlong. I'm not disappointed in the kit, nor am I disappointed with the suit itself, but it's the hands. My first MG was the Exia, with the independent thumb and index finger joints, so I was kinda stunned at the HG-style hands the Shenlong came with.
Main MS pic WHERE?
God I'm getting so excited for this kit. Must have for translator for the GBF:A manga. Gotta get Jet on it too. If only I was in the US to do a shoot together....
>grey on skirt
Okay, I know it's going to be half a new mold, but fuck am I too optimistic to expect that to be real for an HG?
