>>12179586 lasers weren't that bad if they were outside of shields. I used them with the alliance cruisers to hit targets with high evasion.
On the sunrider there wasn't much of a point of pushing lasers because after shoving tons of money into kinetics they could make the difficult shots and if lasers were ignored to focus on the weapon with more potential.
I was asking about the public demo I think 4.2, because flack was less effective and the battleships fired torpedoes.
>>12180120 >Check out other projects >Dat character art
Almost feel bad enough to help the guy out. Well they say they're getting better so god speed!
>>12180352 Try out the yet to be implimented 7.2 changes. https://github.com/vaendryl/Sunrider
Download the zip and dump the contents in the /game subfolder and either start fresh or reload the previous save and use the debug button on the research screen to reset research and update the upgrade paths.
Features neat updates such as 50% more effective energy damage upgrades, missile spamming Sunrider and carrier spawned ryders staring with 0 energy making carrier missions a little easier.
>>12182608 Well, the way they fucked you up in part 2 was by introducing stuff you had but they didn't, like ships with rockets, support ryders and assault carriers.
>part 3 >enemies have their own special orders >enemies have own gravity gun to shuffle your units around out of position. >enemies have own anti-ship sniper ryders on other side of map >melee enemies with cloak
>>12183049 God, please don't, if they do that, they better give us something new too, another sunrider, somekind like a heavy defensive unit with lots of flask, shields and even some buff that give armor.
>>12184087 since the sunrider is something like super assault carrier, I wonder if the ryders that was suppose to get before the whole mess in Cera were going to be specials ones (at least one of them) or generic like the ones that PACT use.
>>12184848 Kill the units closest to you and keep your units bunched together for increased flak/shielding. Simply let them run into you and not the other way around. Full forward is more effective for this strategy.
>>12184170 Yeah, I actually got that a little while ago after Sunrider got me on a spacefleet kick. I just got me an Absoluta class and man, they weren't kidding when they said it trivialized the game.
>>12187033 wait are you telling me we lost the sunrider? Holy shit, probably one of the few good spoiler for me right now, since I don't want to be fucked for loosing the star unit, better upgrade the rest a little more.
>>12188638 >Because the Captain was all "this ends now, this ends here, no more running", and your XO will do anything you say >Then your cannon goes offline and had to be manually operated using a lever on a damaged section of your ship >Your XO tells you she's going there to fire the cannon manually >You can then make the decision of firing the cannon and destroying legion, which will make Sunrider sit on the bench next stage and your XO most likely dying in the process, or gtfo there and proceed to the next stage
>>12188060 Every turn her evasion/armor/damage keep going up by 50% a turn in exchange for hp. She can't get killed by the hp loss but her evasion will get so high blaze it nothing can hit her.
>>12189115 You don't lose it lose, it just wrecks itself and your XO and is unavailable for the final mission.
>>12188638 The Legion needed to get vanguarded right down it's center as it was charging it's own main cannon to completly kill it but the Sunrider lost it's systems during the fight to weaken it's supporting fleet and the Legion's own defences. You get to decided if putting it in space dock for months and obliterating it's fleet was good enough or to risk it all in a final kill.
It's Kayato's White Whale HOLY GRAIL moment. It's a tactically sound decision since the entire operation during that arc was for taking down the Legion but Kayato was also constantly pushing for it despite the status of the Alliance fleet. Things probably should have also switched over to just chasing off the Legion and it's supporting fleet for the giant blackhole mcguffin.
Also since their school days Ava's always been a by the book kind of person, school council, being military like her dad, MUH REGULATIONS and Kayato's always been her way out of that and just be a person. He didn't quite get the hint when he got his dick wet and lost her to military life. Now it's happening all over again this time with her doing the "right thing" at a critical moment. She's being the perfect executive officer, ready to throw her life away for the greater good when all she really wants is for Kayato to tell her no.
Letting the Legion slip away arguable leaves you in a better condition with dealing with the real threat, maskfuck and the mcguffin what with PACT looking like they're doing a heel-face turn.
>>12190811 Y'know, it always seemed like they talked up the Legion too much. I never bought that it was this exceptional threat because we're talking about a government that can look at a big expensive ship class just deployed by some Podunk country, think "That's a pretty good idea, lets do that" and then churn out dozens if not hundreds of them in what, months? It really doesn't seem like the Legion could be unique.
fon "You have quite an interesting vessel. I believe it was instrumental in winning the Battle of Far Port, was it not?" fon "An assault carrier... Swift as a battle cruiser, and supported by a squadron of ryders like a carrier..." fon "Capable of both lightning strikes and long range operations. Quite impressive, considering it was made by a single Neutral Rim world." fon "Now, imagine not a single prototype vessel, but an entire fleet of advanced warships built with the resources of all the worlds of the People's Alliance!"
He didn't say that it was based on the sunrider, but that they were of a similar concept.
>>12193795 Maybe you're right. That said, given how PACT pulls fleets of battleships and carriers out of its ass for every little engagement it still seems like the industrial feat of replicating the Legion isn't insurmountable.
>>12193835 Replicating might not be insurmountable but it may be expensive enough not to bother.
It could have been expensive as a fleet or their dedicated superweapon team could have been working on diode bomb mk2.
It could go either way, but I would think with how it was apparently impossible for an entire alliance fleet outfitted with the most powerful kinetic weapon in the game to be able to destroy the legion another one would be worth it.
>>12194329 I am wonder if they given enemy like 2 flag ships shouldnt we get a good allied ship i.e not a nameless turd? Since Ryder still haven got a proper upgrade at this point So we get an upgrade to SR MK2 from the core of the ship while part of the scraps SR is used to make a prototype for a mass production SR where get an AI Captain (i.e excuses to throw in Data references)
>>12194438 So what your homeplanet sent you a blue print for next gen ryder that was suppose to with SR. Then blue upgrade everyone ryder based on the blueprints +60EN for all ryders and +30% all preferred stats, and phoenix's stealth can increase evade by 100% until next turn
>>12194463 seeing how the game is, if that happen WE ARE ROYALLY FUCKED, since the dev will make something like "take this awesome looking ryders and fight a fleet of all the enemies you have see until now....already done? easy, right? now look the new enemies of part 3, we are going to savour your tears now".
>>12195188 it's not that they are inferior, but is more a case of Quality vs Quantity, while quality can win with little effort againt the other units, when you are facing like 10 of each class at the same time, with extras more when you think is going to be over with limited thing like missiles, yeah quantity wins this time.
But that's part of the beauty of the gameplay, you really need to know what you are doing with those specials snowflakes to win against those horde of enemies, in a way a true Turn-Based Tactics game.
>>12196581 I'd actually say regular carriers are worse than assault carriers, since assault carriers at least move up into range to get shots at you (and use up a bit of energy) rather than sit at the back doing nothing but pumping out support/bomber ryders.
>>12196689 They wouldn't need the assault carriers 6 legions have enough vangaurd hexes taken up and missiles that even if you were able to keep your units out of the way they would just be able to bombard the scattered ships with missiles.
>>12195188 well your special snowflakes are more close to personalized ryders rather than being super protypes/unit/next generation of ryder, and the even the ryer of Sola that despise being a recon unit, it suppose to be better than anything right now, but the lack of proper maintenace reduce it's potencial, is more, the Paladin is suppose to be a mass-produce model.
>>12199252 Well, Blackjack and Liberty were thrown together by a mad scientist in a patisserie, Phoenix was heavily modified over the years from whatever it was, Seraphim was an ancient scout ryder lacking maintenance and I got the impression that Paladin was an Alliance bomber ryder with more armour and a bunch of cruiser gun turrets strapped haphazardly to it. Bianca is just weird though, It's a bizzare looking ryder with unusual equipment operated by some horny quack doctor in the middle nowhere who just happens to be able to afford space travel and knows about an Ryuvian ship graveyard lost for years.
Acually, Claude is really fucking suspicious, come to think of it.
>>12200620 I did a double-take when I realized that this latest robot that joined the party somehow had a gravity rifle attached to its arm. Up until that point, the universe had been fairly consistent sci-fi tech, but when that and the super-ancient mega-battleship that ran on dead girls showed up, my eyes started to roll out of my head.
