I've read Devilman and it was mostly great.
Then i've read Jeeg and it was trash.
Then i've partially read Getter Robot and it was slightly less trash than Jeeg, characters are the only good this it has going for it so far.
What Nagai series are actually worth reading? Should i even bother with Mazinger/Grendizer etc?
What about Violence Jack?
Violence Jack is the sequel to Devilman, it's far less compressed and consistent in quality but when it's good it's really fucking good. The OVA version is pretty awful, should really be avoided until you've read the manga.
>Then i've read Jeeg
No you haven't.
Just delete this thread. Go watch bleach or something.
>Violence Jack is the sequel to Devilman
No it isn't. Stop that awful misconception.
>j pop go nagai collection
Confirmed for the same italian shitposter that always shitposts in dynamic pro threads.
Could you just leave /m/ forever? You fucking suck. You should be perma banned for the sheer amount of shitposting you do on this board. I hate you.
Isn't it past your bedtime, young man?
I own the Italian J-Pop version of Getter Robo too. You know, the """Go Nagai Collection""" ones. It's misleading as fuck, Go Nagai is cited as the writer. That is just wrong. His involvement was minimal. So yes, Getter is not "Nagai's shit".
I don't know about his non-mecha stuff, but I guess you should check Violence Jack out. It sounds similar enough to Devilman, I guess?... It certainly should not be like Mazinger or Jeeg, even though they can be pretty brutal too.
I disagree with Jeeg being trash, but at least I'm glad to see you liked Getter more, heh. It just proves Ishikawa is better than Nagai at mecha.
Jack is the reincarnation of Akira after the end of Devilman. The Great Kanto Earthquake was the rebirth of the universe after the end of Devilman. Ryo incarnates himself as a human with Miki as his girlfriend, and deliberately becomes Slum King's torture pet in order to punish himself for killing the one person he ever loved. Violence Jack is the sequel to Devilman. It's the spiritual successor to Devilman.
>Violence Jack is the sequel to Devilman.
No, it isn't. Violence Jack is a manga series that features all of Nagai's characters up until that point in his career. Go away.
How diferent is the Jeeg manga to the anime?
The anime was a co-creation between Nagai and Tatsuya Yasuda after all. Unfortunately, I expect that the Jeeg manga is a pilot episode for the anime just like the Grendizer manga
Is Dororon Enma-kun the only not edgyshit from this guy that's worth watching or reading?
I saw Grendizer and Mazinger. And Jeeg was meh.
I wished the transformation process for the Getters was more detailed, it seems rushed as fuck. Like i'm a looking at a panel and then the next one and it's already almost completely changed, without any real detail on how it changed, not even the first time. Could be just me tho
Harecchi Gakuen is the original pervy comedy manga, the one that made Nagai famous
and it ends with the entire cast getting slaughtered in a brutal war against the Japanese PTA who want to shut their school for being too risque.
I'm afraid I don't have an answer for that one. The only adaptation of these manga I've watched is Getter Armageddon. I didn't grew up with them either. I've also neglected watching Kotesushin Jeeg because for some reason or another I thought it shared continuity with the older Jeeg? I don't know.
I want to check Shin Mazinger out one of these days tho.
Yeah, I agree with this. But I also couldn't help but love how silly those transformations looked. That made me love even more how Armageddon showed then in more detail while also retaining their campiness. Loved it.
My salsa sensors are picking up taco transmissions in this thread RIGHT NOW. Shitposting spics have bypassed the fajita field I placed around my pendejo perimeter, and it's credible that these chilli-chomping cabrons are charging their carnitos cannons as we speak. Be vigilant my friends. They, or he, are here.
>Then i've partially read Getter Robot and it was slightly less trash than Jeeg, characters are the only good this it has going for it so far.
Stay within your own community. Go back to go nagai forum free it.
/m/ Nagai threads aren't for dagos and spics. It's for English speaking fans who discovered Nagai via the internet and not via nostalgiafaggotry.
It wasn't exactly innocent silly comedy up until that point either.
As someone looking to eventually read Violence Jack, what exactly should I familiarize myself with first in order to get the full experience (recognize the characters.) I know Devilman, obviously, and Cutie Honey, but what else is included?
Only Cutie Honey threads can be good.
Because Spaniards and Italians don't care about the series
Okay guys I'm aware that I might be further ruining this thread (for which I'm very sorry) but I'm genuinely befuddled about what happened in here.
What is exactly your beef with people who grew up with Mazinger? By this thread I first thought it was just the confusion about Go Nagai's involvement with Getter and Jeeg, but some people in this thread claim it has something to do with their expectations of Nagai's work outside his mecha stuff. Except the anon who started this thread expressed the exact opposite sentiment of that. He liked Devilman but not so much Jeeg and Getter, so he probably wouldn't like Mazinger, and he most likely would like Violence Jack. So what's the problem here, that he's Italian? Have Italians got a notorious shitposting history that I have completely missed over all the 70s and 80s and Getter threads I've been to? There has to be an explanation for those responses to him in the vein of "I hate you" and "go back to Italy".
I'm asking because I've never seen this argument on /m/. I just got into Mazinger by reading the original manga (I also recently tracked down the 1999 manga for a really neat price, for which I am very happy) and I had never really cared about it prior to that. If it helps I'm a Spaniard but the only /m/ anime I like because of nostalgiafaggotry is the Eldran franchise. I'm way too young to have grown up with Mazinger. In fact I've never even watched the anime.
Pls no bully, I'm being pretty honest here.
Great, I'll move it a few spots up in my backlog then.
Well, VJ is a couple of years after Gakuen Taikutsu Otoko so Mondo is less hormonal. Damn,
Mondo accepting that Tatsuma is the only person that cares for him and later dyinggave me feels
Violence Jack is just fucking weird as a manga.
The first story is about a really effeminate guy who got raped after the apocalypse, finds an island with wild animals, and literally cums in his pants when he sees a tiger. Then Violence Jack happens.
There's this guy who created a italian boogieman shitposter (formerly known as "the spic") and he keeps blaming him for everything bad that happens in Dynamic Pro threads. That's basically how it goes.
Does Nagai have a decapitation fetish?
The Shuten Doji manga is actually pretty good, it has a better pacing and characterization than the OVAs. To be fair, that isn't hard to accomplish.
The ending was a Gainax ending before Gainax was a thing
