>Maya and Soushi will never get their apology
So... this must be two-cour, right? Or getting a second movie?
Kazuki doesn't want to be a hero. The first series is quite explicit about this (it's in the middle of the Moldova arc -- Festum attack the base and start broadcasting their destruction, but accidentally air Kazuki kicking ass, and the CDC at Tatsumiya goes "??? is he fighting for them? Does he want to be a hero???" and Maya screams "SOUSHI YOU SHIT HE NEVER WANTED TO BE A HERO HE WANTED TO BE REMEMBERED THE WAY HE WAS"). Plus this season has been pretty clear that his wish is to live. No wonder he's mad. He just wants to cook curry and live to his twenties.
I'm sorry, homofriend.
Mark sein's colour reminds me of these shoes
I just finished SRW UX this morning. I loved Arnie's progression.
>kinda fiery Real pilot in Part 1
>Part 3 rolls around
>Fucking full on HOTBLOOD whenever he speaks.
Sein and Nicht are sold out at like, every store. Anyone know if Bandai's going to re-release either of them?
Or should I just try and ask Derringer next time he's spotted?
It kinda sucked that
Mamoru died trying to protect fucking Pascha. I know it's SRW, but still, was quite ridiculous
Also, yeah, picrelated. Although I wish he looked more like Richard and not like one of the many lady characters.
Well, I'm not one to complain about having a pretty looking guy.
But, he was a badass.
And, yeah. Some of those cross-series reasons for death were odd. Like you said:
Sakomizu killing Mamoru? What a fucker. Good thing I managed not to save them both. I'd feel like a dick if I saved Sakomizu but not the one, true Goubain.
I did like how much spotlight Fafner got though. Same goes for manga Linebarrels.
>I did like how much spotlight Fafner got though. Same goes for manga Linebarrels.
Indeed. Considering the overall theme of UX
artificial life - life and death - reincarnation of the universeyou could say both are the highlight of UX.
Also, Shinn as an honorary member of Fafner team, gotta like that.
Lemme see if I got this straight (HAH):
Akira (and possibly Rina) likes Maya who likes Kazuki (and while we're at it, Canon likes him too and at one point possibly liked Michio who etc., etc.), but Kazuki likes Soushi who goes dokidoki(as far as he can at least) for Maya, and back in the first series, Shouko also liked Kazuki, which was bad for Kouyou who liked her, but he's a vegetable god now, let's not worry about him.
Leo likes Mimika, and she has some sort of a minor crush on Hiroto who likes Seri who is a serious, hardcore lesbian, but only towards lolis (but she may or may not reciprocate).
And finaly, Sui likes Rina, who might still be a lesbian or may have a crush on Kenji but that's too bad because he's with Sakura.
Then there's the NUNs but who the fuck cares about them.
I apologize for bringing shipping bullshit into the thread.
Rina definitely liked Maya during the first series. Seri calls Rina a lesbian in one scene (because Rina is feeling up Tsubaki).
I think Mimika's feelings toward Hirito are just sempai-admiration.
Seri isn't a hardcore lesbian; you're getting her confused Seri's comment about Rina.
And you forgot Fumihiko and Chizuru.
Well, my guess is that Ayshwarya is gonna fall for Kazuki, like, for real, seeing as he essentially saved from the fate way worse than death.
It's not like she didn't adore him before, too..
>Well, my guess is that Ayshwarya is gonna fall for Kazuki, like, for real, seeing as he essentially saved from the fate way worse than death.
I can't stand anyone else falling for Kazuki, I love the guy but this is turning into a harem.
Hero worship is understandable though, Billy and Jonathan have that as well.
>she gave up though
God. That moment in the first season where Kazuki's feelings for Soushi click in her head still gets me. Especially since Mizoguchi just didn't get it and practically kept rubbing Maya's nose in it.
>Maya loves Kazuki
>Shouko loved Kazuki
>Soushi loves Kazuki
>Misao loved Kazuki
>Canon loves Kazuki
>Ayshwarya may fall in love with Kazuki
Why is Kazuki-kun such an alpha?
Why is Kazuki-kun such an alpha?
I think she's already got a crush on Johnathan, so I really hope she doesn't swerve over to Kazuki just because he saved her. Admiring him is fine, but please don't fall in love with him.
The problem is that he doesn't want a girlfriend, he wants to live.
I think he would be pretty glad to end up with Soushi but Soushi hasn't shown any romantic inclinations towards him, and would probably be too dense to realize if Kazuki does have a crush on him. At least Soushi does care for him a lot, even if it's not romantic love.
Glad you mentioned Misao though. Although I think Best Festum was in love with both Soushi and Kazuki. Hell, he was practically a Soushi/Kazuki shipperfag.
tl;dr: pussy means nothing if you're a dying asexual/gay guy with a life fetish
Soushi's awkward as fuck but he did show some interest in Kazuki, which is why everyone is so reluctant to believe that he's suddenly got a thing for Maya.
This shit is not platonic.
I want to believe. He could certainly be bi or something. But I already posted my feelings on the matter in last thread >>12254516, and I'm just gonna stick with that interpretation for now. Better to err on the side of "it's never going to happen" than to be disappointed.
So what do you guys think Jonathan is going to do? I kind of want to see him try to jack Sein or Nicht because it would be awful and hilarious at the same time, but maybe he'll try something less extreme. Wish he would interact with Maya some too.
He's a nice person. I think that helps a lot
>tfw you'll never hug Kazuki gently and tell him that you're gonna stay by his side 'till the very end
>tfw you'll never whisper the words of encouragement in his ear
>tfw you'll never sit next to him on a beach on a starry night and gently play with his beautiful hair
Well, Mamoru defends the scumbag called Hazard Pasha because he carries a Nuclear missile on the plane he's in and when the plane blows up, the whole Tatsumiya Island will blow up too. Sakomizu wants to destory him and even call him a vile filth for using a mere child as a shield (He mistakenly think that Mamoru was Hazard's soldier). So Mamoru has to stop Sakomizu in which Hazard decides to destory both of them in one shot. Sakomizu survives but Mamoru was killed.
UX has stuff like this that is pretty awesome.
He'll probably try to beg Emily/Emery to ask their Mir for the power, or beseech their Mir core directly; to grant him the same power as Sein or Nicht.
Given he has the Makabe factor, he might be able to handle it for a short time, before it backfires and attempts to consume him, forcing Kazuki to save his ass. Especially since the Indian Mir doesn't have a controller who can regulate the power the way Orihime can with the Island cores.
He did say he'd try testing it out at the risk of his own life, and did want his own super-Fafner; so it's more likely he'll attempt something stupid and try to be the UN equivalent. I personally expect that it might work out for awhile, be the UN hero they need, only for him to fail at the critical moment forcing Kazuki to save him.
It's less-likely but equally possible that he could try jacking Sein, maybe even be able to control it for a short time in a non-combat situation due to having the Makabe factor, only for it to fail or start attempting to assimilate him until Kazuki directly orders Sein to return to him and spare Johnathan, in exchange for a bit more of his lifespan.
You also forgot:
Sein is Tsundere for Kazuki, rejecting all other pilots who tried to replace him.
>I-it's not like I only want you to be one with me or anything...
And Nicht to a lesser extent.
>Ne-ne Soushi-kun! I wanna play with Sein-Oneesan! Let Kazuki come play so that Sein can play!
I wonder what sort of climax the first cour will have from here. Looks like Soushi, Kazuki and co won't be heading home for a while, but we'll have to see what's happening on the island as well.
Synchronized Azazel attacks?
Not that anon but oh my. Thank you for pointing that out, hadn't seen it. It HAS to be legit if that is still on there.
>Ne-ne Soushi-kun! I wanna play with Sein-Oneesan! Let Kazuki come play so that Sein can play!
>Seri isn't a hardcore lesbian; you're getting her confused Seri's comment about Rina.
Nah, I'm just exaggerating considering her relationship with Tsubaki/Orihime.
Really, though she acts more like a mother to Orihime (and not in a nofunallowed way like Yumiko).
I'd have to pay this a rewatch (and I'm planning to once this cour ends) so I can see if I overlooked anything important. But there's something I find a bit curious regarding Seri's sudden revival via "assimilation" or whatever that was back in episode 7/8, uh maybe Saya did intervene to save Seri, who's kind of Orihime's(her granddaughter, technically) mother figure, or maybe I'm just reading too much into it.
>These two need to get a clue.
On another topic, that moe festum eating up the headless one. If it turns out to be an enemy (and who am I kidding, it probably is) then it's going to be one hell of an enemy huh? Will Kazuki and Soushi be fine at this rate?
Also I'm thinking the deal with Kazuki being all "There are thousands of people" to protect reminds me of Kazuki not dealing well with being pushed into the hero role in season 1. But maybe it's Soushi who gtfos this time.
One more for the Kazuki fanclub....
Is it just my imagination or Soushi seems kind of colder in Exodus? It's not like he wasn't acting all reserved and stoic in S1 but we know it was just a facade. In Exodus though, he seems... somewhat emotionless and I'm not sure if I like that.
He did live for a few years on festum home dimension and if you're talking about that comment he made to Kazuki about apologizing I saw that as more teasing over Kazuki incredibly awkwardness with Maya
I was rewatching the original series and the OVA just now and something just occured to me that didn't the first time. that girl that dies in the first episode, the one witht he glasses that was to be the original pilot always seemed like this weak character, but rewatching the OVA I can't help but notice that she was probably a pretty great and brave pilot. Such a shame we never got to see her fight.
I think I get what you mean. But it's probably just Soushi's coldness (ruthlessness?) having more free reign without his youth/Fumihiko holding him back.
Soushi might have been lying about being sad Fafners were lost as opposed to losing pilots in Season 1, but he was also the guy who put up the plan of using NUNs as bait for Festum while they skedaddle.
Why was Maya being so bitchy after Soushi and Kazuki saved the day? Like seriously respect.
I think she would also bitch to Canon too if seh was there, it's like she said, she was just frustrated that Kazuki went inside his own mobile execution chamber and no one stoped him even though she knew that no one would be able to stop him if he wanted to board Mark Sein
Sein the Iron Maiden....
But yeah I didn't fault Maya for that. I'd be mad too if Kazuki was my friend even if I knew we had no choice.
Makes you wonder if Maya would rather die than have Kazuki die....
>Makes you wonder if Maya would rather die than have Kazuki die....
She said that she tried to take his place when she said she wanted to go to India so, yeah I think she would find that a good trade, hell I think a lot of the veterans who fought with Kazuki on the north pole would be ok with trading their places with him since he has led the shittiest life with Sein gradually eating him from the inside
She wasn't bitchy. She was visibly emotionally devastated because she blamed herself for not being able to protect people. If she could've protected them, Kazuki wouldn't have had to pilot Sein which is obviously shortening his lifespan. Of course, it's a wrong logic but she does blame herself for it.
What? Everyone and their dog knows that the very act of Kazuki boarding his fafner means that it's only accelerating his death, everyone agrees that he should get a rest so they can try to save him and everyone on the island who already knew him got sad with the fact that there was no way around him having to use Sein and seal his fate
Exactly. The entire cast has spent this whole season on "no Kazuki, don't get in the fucking robot." I think it's understandable that they would be a bit unhappy when he gets in the fucking robot.
>Yumikofestum has been charged with Assassinating Emery from the Moe Festum
Also Maya better fucking realize that shit it up soon. Yumikofestum has been spilling spaghetti constantly to indicate shit is not alright and all she thinks is Yumiko is acting weird. SHE FUCKING CALLED MICHIO "Miwa's father"
But why would Moe Festum want Emery dead?
When shit gets really bad and then he and Koyo show up with those Red Festum from the movie and kick ass.
Oh man : Can you imagine the Human Forces faces when Festum start protecting their people without being forced too by an Esperanto?
For a character who wasn't fighting she got plenty of screentime in the first eight episodes.
Besides, with the roadtrip starting there's a good opportunity for next week to switch on the island and she'd probably be the focal character.
He was pretty warm (in his way) towards Kazuki and Maya in the earlier episodes. I guess he just gets colder in battle mode, hence him being relatively aloof/emotionless this episode.
>I guess he just gets colder in battle mode,
I suspect this is a deliberate contrast to how Kazuki gets hot-blooded and yells a lot in battle.
Also, I really like the Diablo types and the new super Festum from this episode. It's really cool to see the Festum start to develop into types that mimic humans and Fafners. The Diablo feels very Titan Model-esque in its design (mainly in the hands). I wonder if we'll see Nothung Model based Festum later. They've already started mimicking the Nothung Model's weapons after all.
It does really bear a a lot of similarities to a Fafner.
It's got that kinda off-set, interlocking abdomen like the Fafner's have. And it's a lot more spindly like them too.
I personally like how they're improving their tactics. The Festum, I mean. They're deliberately playing on the fact that humans will be averse to shooting their own kind. And even going for more direct methods of Assimilation than just latching onto the machines.
Misao and Koyou are going to appear at the last fucking minute. Which is pretty par for the course, for Koyou.
I read on 2channel that it was confirmed somewhere (an interview?) that it's just that thing where the pilot's personality is messed up when they pilot.
Soushi's gives him a "desire to control" (支配欲).
People were joking about this calling it his "dominatrix mode"
>Not wanting to be abused by Festum-possessed Soushi
Come the fuck on, man.
Also, does Kazuki's personality change at all in Sein? I suppose I should know this after 1 and 1/2 seasons and a movie, but I don't remember them mentioning a personality change. He does get kind of hot blooded in battle this season but that could just be a natural thing.
>Also, does Kazuki's personality change at all in Sein?
He was to be the only one that doesn't undergo a personality due to his self-denial and Soushi's presence in the system. But now that the dominatrix is piloting too... *shrug*
>Remember when he lost his shit when the Festum attacked the island at the beginning of the movie?
That scene was so great for me. WHY AREN'T YOU SOUSHIIIIII??????!
The Mir in India is something like the Wish Granter from STALKER. Just less hardcore.
Miwa wanted to get big - her body grew, but her mind didn't and it didn't happen painlessly.
Miwa wanted her mom to come back to life, now Yumiko is a half festum, half human zombie.
And what the fuck is with that Teletubbies-tier shit? We're on episode 10 and only one person died-but-not-really?
inb4 they come back to Tatsumiya to find out everyone is dead
Kazuki's a bit more fiery and hot-blooded in Sein than he is outside of it.
He's very demure and kind, but the Synergetic Code makes him a bit more feisty.
But, his changes are pretty light compared to everyone else's. it's stated early on that his personality changes are minimal compared to everyone else's.
And I didn't say I wasn't for it. Cute guys who are as sexually aggressive as I am are hard to find. But, like I said, I don't want to be inadvertently assimilated all because I wanted some ass.
I'm hella bothered by the fact that Soushi doesn't seem much affected by Kazuki having just three more years to live, and now after piloting Sein, it's going to be even less. I mean, look at Maya. She seemed devastated but Soushi is just meh.
I know it's implied that he got into research to find a cure for Kazuki but he doesn't show any emotions in this regard and it's pissing me off.
Yeah, I'd like to see more of that as well. Right now I'm not really seeing the soulmate thing people are talking about. Their interactions after the beach date scene feel kind of artifical/superficial, even.
I agree, it's like he's too stoic about it. They've always been like that--Kazuki gets really fired up when Soushi is in trouble but Soushi is more calm in regards to Kazuki. I do think he cares about Kazuki but he needs to show it more. Not in a shipping way, just in a "hey you're my best friend who's gone through a lot of shit for me and I care about you way."
I actually thought the beach scene felt pretty natural, and I think stuff like teasing Kazuki there and reassuring him about the NUNs' situation is his way of showing he cares. He's just shitty at showing it other times.
Forgot to add, in regards to the soulmate thing Orihime may have been just talking about their fighting style. Which makes sense, they work really well together (probably helped by the fact that they were in a state of very frequent crossing for two years). Outside of battle you can't really call them soulmates, and I don't think anyone in-show has.
Speaking of Kazuki, the guy gets insane whenever something bad happens to Soushi and I'd just like to see Soushi do the same thing for him. At least once. Just once. He appeared stoic and cold in S1 too, yes, but he showed so many emotions just by trying to suppress them. Exodus, on the other side, butchered him in this aspect.
He kinda-sorta had some emotion at the end of HnE, his voice wavered a bit when he was thanking Kazuki for protecting the place for him to come back to.
But yeah, he needs to loosen up a bit and let people know how he feels.
>Exodus, on the other side, butchered him in this aspect.
We're still only 10 episodes in. Wait till something bad happens to Kazuki or Maya; we'll see how Ubukata handles his reaction then.
I'm guessing one of these scenarios will happen:
Soushi goes insane because of Nicht's influence
Maya shoots her sister because festum shenanigans
and then festum Yumiko kills Maya because bullets are ineffective.
Nicht's influence may have made him more expressive but the feelings would have been his own. I mean, it's just natural to worry when your partner gets hit with an attack like that.
>Soushi goes insane because of Nicht's influence
I hope this doesn't happen because it seems like it would hamper his character development, and also because there's been a lot of drama about saving him from the Festum already. In the words of an anon from the last thread, he's used up his plot points in that department.
I also feel like Maya needs some more character development in regards to her issues about protecting people, so hopefully she can deal with the Yumiko thing and come out alive. Plus Kazuki has known Maya for so long he probably depends on her to some extent, and Soushi has some sort of thing for her, so shit's really gonna start tumbling down if she dies.
>so shit's really gonna start tumbling down if she dies
Well, Ep.9 showed us she can't pull the trigger on another human, now she's got a gun from her sister, so it's probable it's gonna bite her in the ass some time later.
Rightstuf and Amazon if you're in the US? Amazon.ca for Canadians?
50 for the blu-ray is a good price, I think. It looks amazingly good for an old series. I wasn't expecting it at all. I wonder if they actually updated some of the effects?
She knows how to use a gun. As >>12259912 said, she might not be willing to use it, but she certainly does know how. Did you forget all those years spent training under Mizoguchi?
It occurs to me that what if Jonathan
decides to jack Nicht and Nicht uses that as an opportunity to have free reign? I can see Sein being loyal to Kazuki, but Nicht is like... will take all, try and see if I eat you or not..
Nicht is a sadomasochistic needy mech; it powers up when Soushi insults it (rather than just trying to ramp up assimilating him), taunts and teases Soushi as often as he enters the Siegfried system with wanting to Cross with him (and Sein), and doesn't even tear the island apart after being unchained and de-limitered (even Orihime considers it an ally to the Island, rather than a risky traitor in the waiting).
Additionally, given it was reborn as a mechanical Festum (moreso than Sein to any extent), only Soushi, who's literally a Festum human, has been capable of handling it.
At any rate, Sein seems more likely given the Makabe factor, if not his own machine via a gamble with the Mir Emery talks to.
>At any rate, Sein seems more likely given the Makabe factor, if not his own machine via a gamble with the Mir Emery talks to.
Or Moe Festum?
Or maybe it turns out that Jonathan decides to defect to the other NUN faction because they wouldn't listen to Soushi saying nope this is a BAD idea and they'll happily make his dream Salvator model Fafner for him?
After that display of firepower, I think that old bag will want a piece of the Salvator Model pie one way or another.
Probably threaten the Island with Nuclear Missiles in exchange for whatever data they have on Nicht and Sein...
I thought he was absorbed by Mark Sein at the same time as Nicht. He could theoretically have been freed by Misao along with Mark Nicht in the movie and escaped when Misao blew himself up. Seems like a long shot twist though, but I kind of like the idea.
Just interrupting to say that I think I might have just fallen in love with Soushi.
I can totally see why Kazuki is so concerned with him now. He's adorable.
I apologize for the interruption. Proceed with the Exodus discussion.
He was the core of one of the other island ships that set off like Tatsujiyama but didn't survive and got wiped out. I believe our current cast was the 4th island ship and only known survivors of Japan.
>I believe our current cast was the 4th island ship and only known survivors of Japan.
You know, that always bothered me. Whatever happened to immigration? Are the Japanese who went to North America not Japanese anymore? :/
>just now falling in love with Soushi
He's like, top-tier waifu material.
>concerened for his friends, but tries to hide it.
>looks cute with glasses
>takes his "buddy" on romantic moonlit picnics by the beach
Was that ever explicitly stated? Or was that core REALLY early on supposed to be Idun?
After the Japanese became infertile and the rest of the countries of the world were actively bombing Japanese islands, I'm guessing just leaving Japan for another country was a bit difficult since they thought that Festum induced infertility was contagious
Fuck no, this is wrong, why the fuck did it have to happen to him, what did he do wrong, this is not fair
Jesus he just wanted to protect everyone and be a hero he didn't deserve that goddammit
I knew something like this was probably coming but fuck this
When did they get around to translating the chronology into english? Could've sworn last time I was on the site it was still in japanese... http://starchild.fm/anime/fafner-exodus/special/ Adblock hides any images on the detail overlay btw so turn that off.
2114: so do certain festums start gaining individuality this far back in the timeline or are they just referring to more recent events. I somehow thought kazuki's mama was the catalyst for this. Is Misao old as balls?
I think the "in recent years" is talking about recent in regards the current events of the show (i.e., the period when Misao was born, a few years before Exodus). They just chose to mention it in the 2114 description.
Because it's the tipping point where Fafner REALLY earns it's reputation for suffering.
Ever since Kazuki got the Sein everything had been going great, everyone was happy. It looked like they really could beat the Festum.
And then hard reality fucking slapped everyone in the face and you realized just how fragile the last few episodes of relative peace and safety were.
I loved it. And I hated it. I love that it actually made me emotionally affected. I knew it was the calm before the storm, but first he went down and then Mark Nichts showed up and shit didn't just hit the fan, it splattered all over the damn walls.
I didn't think the deathparade would come in full force like that but damn, I absolutely loved it.
By the way, poor Kenji. It seems wrong that he in particular is getting shit on so much. Life just isn't fair.
Truly sad to see the trio become two.
I agree completely, but to be honest Shoko and Koyo's death's were more emotional to me.
Kenji got Sakura, man. That's like a grand prize. Soushi can't get that Maya ass while both her and Canon can't win the Kazukibowl.
See! Because it starts with Sakura and they give you a little hope! Because it looked bad but Sakura responded! And you'd just had that Koyo episode! So you're thinking everything will work out.
And then suddenly a new type of Festum appears and IT BEGINS.
It's grand. It really, truly did BEGIN.
>Kenji got Sakura, man
And to my knowledge Sakura is a vegetable but from the way you all talk about it she might pull a Koyo (which for him, I had been hoping for since it happened, and it was awesome when it did), so i'm going to bow out in a moment.
Anyway, I have three episodes left, and I'm going to finish them real quick.
What's after that again?
Series -> Heaven & Earth -> Right of Left -> Exodus?
that about right?
Rewatching the scenes, Kazuki's eyes do turn gold while he's working to counter-assimilate and stop the Diablo mini-bodies from taking the NUN pilot girl.
Yeah this, Right of Left before Heaven and Earth.
RoL isn't strictly necessary and will feel a little odd eight after the series, but it's quite good and later material references it just enough to be noticeable.
I get that this is the only topic going for any Fafner release, but are you sure you should be posting here?
This is a thread where people should and do talk about later events freely. I'm kinda surprised that you've apparently stayed reasonably unspoiled.
So, in a best-case scenario where Exodus does well and gets more people into Fafner, how would you guys feel about a movie series remake of S1? I was rewatching the later episodes and thought it could be done pretty well, would love to see the fights with better animation and first 11 episodes written by Ubukata. Will almost certainly never happen but it's fun to think about.
Man, you guys are cool. Is this what slightly smaller fanbases are like? Totally pleasant, it's amazing.
I know, I've wondered if this was safe several times. But I have only read what people who respond to me have posted and somehow I didn't have anything really ruined for me.
Only problem is I had a thought that maybe I was prohibiting discussion of Exodus - which is why I'll fuck off so I can finish the series. Stay beautiful, people.
Oh yeah, not arguing against its quality at all.
Just rewatched everything before Exodus started though, and parts of it do feel a little strange, just by virtue of being a prequel. Like the Titan models being around so soon before the series started, or none of the characters getting mentioned even when listing off people who "left the island".
No way around it when it was written after the fact, though, and it still adds a lot to the background for the franchise.
Because he's taking suppression drugs.
Those crystals only appeared because using that ability in the original/movie because it was Sein trying to eat him from the strain brought about of him doing that.
In happened when he got in the Sein for the first time in Exodus, but he was able to overcome that hump right now.
He's currently tight rope walking during a blizzard while piloting and the moment he loses his focus is when those crystals will fuck his shit up.
I'm imagining him thinking of all sorts of things to distract himself from the voice of Sein repeatedly going
Are you there yet? Are you there yet? Kazukiii!now.
Must not answer the sentient mech....
Speaking of suppression drugs. I wish the series would elaborate on how much
Kazuki's body has deteriorated as a result of the assimilation phenomenon. Things like Kazuki not having the abnormal strength he had before and or if he had episodic fits that require him to be hospitalized. What was that deal with him flinching when Tsubaki pops out of her chamber anyway? Was that related to her or his assimilation rings things?
I imagined an assimilation death to only have side effects during minutes before a death. Don't remember any pilots in the OVA who had side effects due to the assimilation. Well they all had the psychological effect of them gradually losing one by one. Basically, it hits hard and fast.
I'd actually want them to expand on that beyond Kazuki. We've been told he's got three years.
But I have no idea what the prognosis is for Sakura, Kenji and Canon. Were they pulled from piloting in time or do they have reduced lifespans as well?
The more you pilot, the shorter your life. Canon joined late so she would live longer. Kenji has more hours on-job compared to Sakura. Overall, their lives should truly last longer than the current adults. Then again, that is just my assumption.
None of them seem too badly off. I can see Sakura taking a turn for the worse at some point (I doubt she can far exceed 30) but you'd expect some more explicit acknowledgment if Kenji, Canon and Maya were the same. I figure if they stayed out of the Fafners they could probably reach their 50's.
Then there's always the chance of Festum magic as well. Or Chizuru making the breakthrough she's been working hard on.
I'm also curious as to whether the amount of movement spent with/on a Fafner contributes to a shorter lifespan. Maya mostly snipes so she should live linger unless it doesn't correlate at all.
