>>12440414 Yeah, but Salvation at least gave us the T-600. It's probably not gonna be that bad, but John Connor as the villain still seems pretty fucking dumb. Here's to hoping they don't reprogram the T-1000
I'm mildly curious. I can't say I'm hyped, because I pretty much know that the current Ahnold vs the original T-800 Ahnold fight is going to look awkward as fuck. Also the new Sarah Connor not looking anything like Linda Hamilton, who was hot as fuck in T2 (though not so much anymore...). Also no Michael Biehn look-alike.
It would be pretty hard for them to not do better than T3, though.
So they send back the dude in the past to protect sarah connor but she was ready for him and she's got the old terminator there with her and they're fighting a new t-1000 but then john comes back from the future and is some sort of cyborg-robot thing and then the terminator fights himself...?
>>12440512 >was not bad. Are we thinking of the same movie? The one that suddenly ends with "this bunker was actually from the 50's, that sound you hear outside is the Judgement Day war ravaging humanity, roll credits?
>>12440519 T-800 sent back in time as per normal. However, an earlier T-800 is there, who has been training Sarah since her parents died when she was young. Kyle Reese and the Resistance did not expect this. Somehow, Storm Shadow is a T-1000 or something. That's when it stops making sense, and now funny-haired John Connor is hybrid.
>>12440532 So... Sarah isn't helpless and needy when Reese shows up, so she doesn't have that "shared traumatic experience" one-night-stand with him but eventually gives in and fucks the Ahn-Old Terminator and John is born a half-terminator.
Leaked script plot outline from a few months ago. Spoilers, obviously.
In 2029, the Resistance led by John Connor (Jason Clarke) has successfully destroyed Skynet headquarters. Connor and his best friend, Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), raid a Skynet outpost in Los Angeles to rescue human prisoners and to investigate Connors' suspicions that Skynet has developed a time-displacement device in a desperate effort to change the outcome of the war by altering the past. They locate the machine and learn that Skynet has just sent a T-800 to 1987 to murder Connor's mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), and prevent Connor from being born. Connor then sends Reese to 1987 as well to protect Sarah. Just as Kyle is leaving, Connor is attacked by the T-5000, an advanced prototype Terminator that can turn into a swarm of nanomachines.
In 1987, the T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) begins searching for Sarah when he is confronted by another T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), who destroys the first one with heavy artillery guns.
Meanwhile, Kyle arrives in 1987 and is confronted by two policemen while stealing a vagrant's clothes. The two cops turn out to be a T-1000 (Byung Hun-Lee) and a T-850, who chase Kyle to nearby clothing store. Just as he appears to be cornered, Sarah and the T-800 arrive in a fortified jeep and Sarah exclaims "Come with me if you want to live".
>>12440555 Sarah, Kyle and the T-800 are chased by the T-1000 and the T-850 through the streets of Los Angeles, but manage to hide in a junkyward where they set up a makeshift base of operations, and where Kyle learns that the T-1000 was sent to 1969 to murder Sarah as a young girl, but the reprogrammed T-800 saved her, though her parents were murdered. They've been evading the T-1000 since then, and the T-800 has trained Sarah to be a skilled fighter. She considers him a surrogate father and calls him "Pops", explaining to Kyle.
>"Listen, give Pops a little respect. He studied since their arrival here. He had no clue how to raise children. So he conducted research. Read books. Watched "Sesame Street". Between lectures on how to destroy the cyborg assassins and survive the nuclear holocaust, he took me to museums and zoos."
The trio is located by the T-1000 and the T-850. Kyle destroys the T-850 with a pipe bomb, while Sarah lures the T-1000 into a trap and dissolves him in acid. With the T-800 sent by Skynet destroyed, his microchip is never found by Cyberdyne Systems and used to create the basis for Skynet.
The timeline changes, and Kyle acquires new memories of the future, in which his parents give him an iPhone for his birthday with an advanced Operational System developed by Cyberdyne called "Genisys", which will be uploaded to the Internet in 2017 and become self-aware, becoming Skynet and causing Judgement Day only a few days later.
Sarah, Kyle and Pops decide to travel to 2017 in a makeshift time-displacement device developed by Pops. However, Pops can't travel with them due to the damage the T-1000 inflicted on him, and goes into dormant mode at their junkyard lair, so Sarah and Kyle can find and reactivate him in 2017.
>>12440552 Yes. Let's go with that. I was originally deciding n accepting Salvation's Novelization's idea that the little girl was a Terminator as well and corrupted John from there, but that makes a lot more sense.
>>12440560 In 2017, Sarah and Kyle reunite with Pops, whose organic exterior has aged, and they set out to infiltrate Cyberdyne Systems and destroy the Genisys Program.
Sarah, Kyle and Pops end up in the hospital, where they are confronted by John Connor. Kyle realizes that the T-5000 nanomachines infected Connor in 2029 after he left for 1987 and brainwashed him into becoming a cyborg loyal to Skynet. Connor then traveled back in time to 2017 to help Miles Dyson (Courtney B. Vance) and his son, Danny Dyson (Dayo Okeniyi), develop the Genisys Program and ensure Skynet's survival and the deaths of Sarah and Kyle.
Sarah, Kyle and Pops evade the police and Connor while attempting to reach Cyberdyne headquarters. They eventually succeed, with Pops sacrificing himself to blow up the facility, destroying the Genisys Program and killing the corrupted Connor. Sarah and Kyle lament Pops' death.
>KYLE: "If a machine could love, he loved you."
>SARAH: "He was not a machine. He was my father".
Suddenly, it turns out Pops has survived the explosion by being coated in liquid metal from the T-1000 assembly line. Now in liquid metal form, Pops reunites with Sarah and Kyle, and they find themselves stranded in 2017, although they have prevented Skynet's birth.
Umbeknowst to them, however, Connor has created a back-up of the Genisys Program, which begins rebooting, and becomes Skynet. To make matters worse, Skynet has begun developing Terminators much earlier to ensure the Resistance is never formed, and is secretly mass-producing an army of T-5000 to destroy the human race.
Time is absolutely fucked, we're on the third loop now. Kyle Reese has already fucked Sarah Connor producing John Connor who sends him back in time to save Sarah Connor but the T-800 is already there and there's also already a T-1000 and a T-JOHNCONNOR and what the fucking shit
>>12440560 >"Listen, give Pops a little respect. He studied since their arrival here. He had no clue how to raise children. So he conducted research. Read books. Watched "Sesame Street". >>12440560 >>"Listen, give Pops a little respect. He studied since their arrival here. He had no clue how to raise children. So he conducted research. Read books. Watched "Sesame Street". Between lectures on how to destroy the cyborg assassins and survive the nuclear holocaust, he took me to museums and zoos." You know, that actually sounds pretty cool, like an anon's greentext idea that I'd reply with an "would watch". I mean, just picture a fucking Terminator learning how to be a good parent by watching Sesame Street while teaching girl Sarah how to kick ass. What is there not to love?
>"Listen, give Pops a little respect. He studied since their arrival here. He had no clue how to raise children. So he conducted research. Read books. Watched "Sesame Street". Between lectures on how to destroy the cyborg assassins and survive the nuclear holocaust, he took me to museums and zoos." this needs to be read with the same retard indignation as I'VE COVERED WARS
>>12440655 >The main focus is 10 time travel plot lines ramming into each other at the speed of cluster fuck. Exactly this.
The movie is, if the leaked script is true, the following "plot": >A remake of Terminator 1 at the base >Terminator 2 is thrown in on top to cover the first act, but with the dates altered and is resolved when Terminator 1's plot crashes into the scene. >Then, we have a successful "future is rewritten"...up until we find out that nope, something else happened to keep the bad future on course, leading into the second act. >Heroes jump forward in time to prevent the new method of Skynet's rise from happening. >BUT, it turns out that another Terminator infected John and he went back in time to stop the heroes. >Cue showdown between T-5000!John and Old Man T-800 for the future. >T-5000 is stopped, Genisys is destroyed, Old Man T-800 lives because of Deus Ex T-1000, but everyone is stuck in a different time. >BUT WAIT! Turns out the T-5000 is entering mass-production, meaning everything was for nothing and shit got worse because of the heroes. The End.
Do not ask me how I was able to come up with the summary. I cannot answer due to my brain being in several twisted knots and partially liquefied. I think. See pic related.
>"Listen, give Pops a little respect. He studied since their arrival here. He had no clue how to raise children. So he conducted research. Read books. Watched "Sesame Street". Between lectures on how to destroy the cyborg assassins and survive the nuclear holocaust, he took me to museums and zoos." Thinking about it, this is actually the less retarded part of the entire spoiler.
>>12440958 Skynet. In the super future alternate timeline, Skynet is good and trying to protect humanity from themselves after Luddites figured out how to time travel without the use of technology and went back in time to stab everyone with pointy sticks.
>>12441347 I've thought about that, and, depending on the target year, it might actually speed up Skynet's birth (unless you count the arm and chip left by the first T-800 as actually kickstarting it, fuck stable time loops). It's the year 1984, while Sarah is waitressing around with her fabulous 80's hair, a nuke strikes the city, obliterating millions along with her. With the Cold War the way it was, what do you think it's gonna happen? The US will think the USSR are attacking. Bam, WW3. Along with it, accelerated development of military weapons and hardware, including, why not, Skynet.
What's your favorite endoskeleton /m/? I'm rather fond of the T-600. >>12441308 To be fair, Sarah is supposed to be young here. It's supposed to be the date of T1, so she should be quite young. T2 did take place ten years later after all. Really, her being fairly young is most likely going to be one of the least problematic things here.
>>12441391 I guess, but the potential for the US to blindly retaliate, and have the Russians retaliate right back, might generate an apocalyptic scenario which would divert resources to survival rather than military tech. What if the blame were placed on faulty computer systems, and it's decided that no computer is ever to be hooked up to the launch systems.
The thing is there's no telling what would happen. Skynet launches the nukes when it does because it has itself firmly rooted in place and is controlling all the launches. It knows the variables, its future is guaranteed. Nuking the past could very well accelerate Skynet's creation, or it could prevent it entirely. The risk is too big.
Holy shit. Holy fucking shit. This is like... Every Terminator parody featured in a sketch comedy stuck into a blender, whipped up into a fanfic puree, and poured into a fuck you glass with piss cubes.
I can't believe the franchise was looking up after Salvation.
>>12442404 This twist made me more curious and more fed up simultaneously. >"Awesome! John Conor is a Terminator! Wait, what the fuck? John Conor is a Terminator?" >"Oh boy! Another antagonist! Shit, ANOTHER antagonist?" >"Yeah! More time travel! Fuck, enough of these time travels already!"
Let's see if my morbid curiosity makes me buy a ticket.
Rather than attempting to continue the story after 2, how would you react to the franchise using the idea of terminators in a new setting independent of the original? The franchise's continuation cannot be avoided.
>>12443384 >the man-machine war is predestined to happen. You can delay it, change a few details, but it WILL happen
That's the thing about stable time loops: whatever conditions in the future warrant something going to the past have to happen, or the trip to the past wouldn't need to happen.
So, since this war is destined to happen, it might be better for those in the past to try to get this war contained to a small part of the world, rather than having the entire Earth ruined by Judgement Day.
A stable time loop obey the novikov self-consistency principle, which mean that the attempt at killing Sarah O'connor just "happened" and THEN later the event lead to sending the two travelers. It might look paradox, but it would at least obey the laws of causality which is the most important.
If the timeline can change, the travelers are basically arriving in an alternate universe (and some SCIENCE must make sure it is the same)
That's where the reason to keep Skynet from happening blur. You vanquished it and it can't negate it or else you would have "stopped from existing" the very plank-time the Terminator was sent (and so wouldn't care anymore).
So you need a new reason, maybe you feel responsible and you want to keep Skynet from happening because of your timeline. The problem stay that it is just an alternate universe where you can chose your time of arrival, and with that anything is possible.
>>12442113 She portrays one of the "main characters" in the most successful show in the world. People who don't know shit about acting or take everything at face value would love her character , and thus end up loving her.
The only reason she's cast anywhere is in hopes that she would bring with her people who watch Game of Thrones.
>>12442610 Because giving an actual "humanity loses" end tends to be a negative for the american audiences, who unlike asians, tend to fear robot victory ends.
However, I would much rather watch a Terminator movie where humanity straight up loses, but where new hybrid humans, similar to T-5000!John, begin to set up a utopia around Skynet, and where humans and machines end up becoming one.
Kind of like the Cybrans, if not quite going into Core level transcendence.
>>12440562 >>12440694 From what I've heard, the originally planned ending of Salvation had John dying from his injuries and Marcus taking his skin to wear and take his place.
>>12442404 >But they really should have avoided showing this twist in the previews. Remember how shocked and surprised we all were when we watched Salvation and discovered Marcus was a Terminator? Me neither, because they had revealed that in the trailers, too.
>>12440555 >>12440560 >>12440568 Wait. If Kyle arrives in the past and meets Sarah for the first time, and shortly after that they travel to the future and get stranded there, how was John born when he was supposed to be? Did I miss something? Is there any point in questioning any of this?
>>12444369 It doesn't even need to be humanity losing. We know humanity "wins" they smash skynet and get to send Kyle back. They could just show the continued human struggle cobtuing from Salvation when the T-80 starts rolling off the assembly line.
>still no Back to the Future/Terminator crossover >no T-1000s on hoverboards chasing down Marty >no T-800s in greaser clothing going back to the 1950s to hunt down Marty's mom at the prom >no Termi-Biff
