Thoughts on the newest trailer released?
Also a shame Kylo Ren is an Imperial dog rather than someone doing his own thing. Would have loved to see that.
Also BB-8 is adorable.
is he the sith obsessed guy?
i hope hes just some massive nerd on the hunt for the ultimate sith collectible - darth vaders helmet
the new order/empire is esentially the same, except more like the aggressive zeek fanboys of /m/ who've taken their cosplaying a little too far
the silver stormtrooper is the kind of imperial fanboy\girl? that writes fanfiction and has made up/designed their own super edgy take on an imperia but they too have gotten too into character
When i saw BB8 in the first teaser i thought that despite it being cute the design looked completely impractical and that thered be no way that something like that could work in the real world...
It's definitely impressive, but I still think it looks odd and kind of ugly. The semi-sphere sitting on top of a complete sphere just looks weird to me, and gives it a really ungainly look. A more flatted out head shape that curved more across the top of the body or something would have looked better in my opinion, though I've no idea whether that would be practical to build in reality on the other hand. Or just a sphere bot, like a bigger Haro with a more robotic face or a digital screen face or something.
>tfw Kylo Ren isn't the protagonist
I don't give a shit about Dindu Nuffin, Shillia Shekle and the other washed-up guys (no offense but we all know they are).
I just want to see space nazis doing cool things.
>I just want to see space nazis doing cool things
At Celebration today they announced DLC for the new video game that is the Battle of Jakku, which apparently takes place right after the Battle of Endor, and explains all the ship wreckage in the new teaser.
The opening crawl for The Force Awakens is gonna be really interesting, explaining how the Empire became the First Order, and how the Rebels are now the Resistance, 30 years later.
I'm getting interested in Star Wars battles. I've always preferred Star Trek to Wars but I also enjoy the Gundam Franchise as well. The empire seems sort of similar Zeon to me though probably a bit more cartoonishly evil.
What is some recommended watching/reading of star wars battles? Especially if I like the empire's stuff more?
I assume Battlefront II is still worth playing.
He is on a desert planet, isn't he?
>The empire seems sort of similar Zeon to me though probably a bit more cartoonishly evil
Unlike Zeon, the Empire got better, at least in the old EU.
>I assume Battlefront II is still worth playing
Yes. It's right up there with Rogue Squadron II.
Some of the historical campain mission objectives are kinda bullshit though. There's one stage where you start with only 20 men and have to hold a hallway for a minute and a half, but the computer has infinite men and they're grenade-happy. In some ways I liked the straight-up kill-em-all approach of the first Battlefront to the by-the-nose fetch quests and infinite suicide bombers of II. Also it doesn't make the play-as-a-Jedi quite as fun as Lego Star Wars, nor the fighter controls as well as Rogue Squadron, but it's a nice mix of the three. .
If this happens, I'm dropping an orbital castle on Bad Robot's lawn.
but...seriously, It'd be hilarious. but, my gutfeel is that epVII's story would probably be
something from Star Trek's
>mfw movie ends with Han and Chewie riding off into the sunset to parts unknown
Fundamentally the Force Awakens contradicts the first three films and the nature of the force.
Darth Vader succeeded at bringing balance to the force. The destruction of both the Jedi Order and the Sith ultimately brought balance.
So unless the plot of the film is that Luke caused an imbalance, or that Ren caused an imbalance, the Force shouldn't awaken. Even then it's always there anyways, it's really there shouldn't be any jedi or sith.
I like how the real BB-8 keeps with the idea that they're avoiding CG laziness.
spoilered for how BB-8 works
considering the way the head's held on I wonder who wins in a "keep your head on" contest between him and Tom Servo
I hope you brought a better class of soldier than these 'stormtroopers'.
The Clones did not deserve to be stuck in the prequels. In fact Id say that the setting of the prequels was genuinely good, but was really brought down y the characters who had to live in it.
Question is: who wasn't wearing a glove and got their blood all over Finn's helmet? Probably the Resistance TIE hijacker.
I'm afraid to say how I feel about episode 7 because when I do, everyone assumes I hate star wars or not a fan of it
but I honestly hated watching jj abrams star treks, all his other stuff was great bit star trek pissed me off. And with episode 7, I feel like it's gonna be a want fest to the original cast, have a plot line close to the books yet not be fully based on it, and is just gonna pander to the modern "greedo shot first" fans
I don't understand the whole prequel pandering to lucas
not to start any fights/arguments but I kinda don't understand your postI'm hoping the original cast coming back is just for minor stuff, like give advice to the kids or some shit Also kinda trips me out that chewie doesn't have any graying furas a kid I grew up watching the originals, hated most of 1, but the other 2 were really good
>chewie doesn't have any graying fur
Wookies age at a different rate than humans. Chewie was already 200 years old (canonically) at BBY.
>other 2 were really good
what have we come to, /m/?
>modern "greedo shot first" fans
Is 1999 modern? I don't even know anymore.
>Is 1999 modern?
The world should have ended in December 31 1989.
Basically, since Lucas owned Star Wars, the company producing the prequels, and directed, people of accused him of just making a movie for himself, and unleashing it on the masses. Personally, I like the prequals.
I didn't mind the second and third ones, but by pandering to Lucas I mean the dumb shit that was also added to the special editions, like the screaming jawas on the stupid monster.
Any loud dancing yelling pile of CG shit, really.
Like BB-8. Lucas pandering would have him be CG 24/7, OT Nerd pandering makes him a real thing.
Yea that's the thing I didn't understand was
the director pandering to himselfkinda makes sense
Those remastered ones, when did they come out? I remember episode 6 remastered with cg jabba
He does have some gray, but it's on his torso. Wookiees have an weird pattern.
>Those remastered ones, when did they come out? I remember episode 6 remastered with cg jabba
mid-late90s. google sez they started in 97.
The Special Edition, yes, came out in '97 to celebrate Star Wars' 20th anniversary.
Now Jabba wasn't CGI in Episode 6(RotJ). He WAS horrible CGI in Episode 4(New Hope) in a delete scene of Han chatting with Jabba(who was originally played by a fat guy in a fur vest) explaining his situation before they leave Tatooine the first time.
Well, most of Mos Eisley was turned into CGI abominations for the Special Edition.
RotJ did turn Jabba's band into CGI horse shit.
The Force was balanced by the removal of Papatine's influnce, and the legacy of Sith masters/apprentecies that he had been carrying on with the death of both him and Vader. It's a new era now. The old Jedi and Sith no longer directly influnce Force users.
I find it hard to take the name of Kylo Ren seriously when he's one letter away from being this guy.
Nice to see Vader back and having his very presence being a massive "oh shit" moment.
Still surprised the Inquisitor only lasted one season though, figured him for a two season villain at least.
Star Wars is a mixture of pulps scifi, samurai movies, chivalric romance and WW2 films.
So pick your references from there, the prelogy was already way too much like a video game.
How much do you guys wanna bet that Kylo Ren is going to be a gutless Darth Maul - that is, he's going to fail at every turn, and that he will eventually be killed by the female protagonist?
now from Bandai, and there's an Astromech series of kits starting iirc
>Stealing the Death Star Plans
Its just isn't the same if it isn't a massive clusterfuck and gets passed around like a game of hotpotato or divided up into multiple segments each separated by entire star systems.
Totally sticking with "Rogue One is the rebel operative assigned to head the mission, and the ending is her being told to go make a squadron."
Boba Fett steals the Falcon
>gutless Darth Maul
As opposed to normal Darth Maul, who just stood there menacingly, fought the heroes only twice, and had absolutely nothing to him until the Clone Wars decided to resurrect him?
And why does it matter who or what he's killed by?
old spoilers from the onlines
The film will be a heist movie, about the mission to steal the original Death Star’s plans.
The team responsible for capturing the plans is composed of bounty hunters.
The Millennium Falcon will be involved.
Han Solo will NOT appear in the movie.
The spinoff’s protagonist will be introduced in The Force Awakens.
the new Snowtrooper looks pretty cool, the only part I dont like is the leg armor
