Tomino requested only 26 for G-Reco though, because of worries over his own health. It wasn't Bandai screwing with him, it was him refusing to work with other directors on more than single episodes so that even if his health failed the product could be given the screentime it really needed. The blame for that is all on Tomino by all accounts.
I've seen and loved 0080, but I think Turn-A is better personally. 0080 is great at telling it's story and I actually like Al, I just prefer the atmosphere, characters and designs among other things in Turn-A.
Pretty sure it's explicitly stated in show that machines like the Zaku, Cannon Ilfuerto (or however you spell it) and even the Willgame were all covered in a material that protected it from the Moonlight Butterfly. It was shown to be quite brittle if I recall, so was presumably useless as conventional armor, but the nanomachines were probably programmed not to touch it. Also, they were buried underground upon discovery and possibly even pre-Moonlight Butterfly so it's possible the nanomachines simply don't go underground when searching for stuff to eat.
No idea, ask Tomino. Pretty sure there's been interviews where he's said he only asked for 26 episodes due to feeling that's all he was up to. You'd think a split season or co-directing with someone else would be a reasonable choice in such a situation, but he didn't do it for some reason.
>>12505681 Actually the novel states that the reason random MS weren't dissolved is because some of the nanos malfunctioned and switched from "disassemble" to "preserve". The DG Cells created a whole new surface for the earth, everything was permeated with them. It's not so much a case of them being too far underground when the nanos covered the earth, it's more like the nanos resurfaced the earth on top of the preserved MS. This is why all those craters from X went away.
>>12505793 Setsuna actually seems to like, act like a rational human being when confronted though, like when he rejects the Thrones bullshit, and how he has dialogues with Marina where he seems to actually have opinions and values for himself.
Loran is mostly just there, and he stumbles into shit and only cares about his queen, having not story and not really mattering at all besides being the guy in the Gundam.
>>12504656 Because you're a plebian who doesn't really like Gundam, as evidenced by the fact that your favorite is the one that is least like every other Gundam show.
Really it's the much maligned Moon Moon episodes of ZZ stretched out into a fifty episode series. Let that soak in for a second: Your favorite show is the spiritual successor to the most hated arc of the most hated UC Gundam series.
>>12506237 That was the 00 movie: Awakening of the Trailblazer, which sucked pretty hard due to lame T-1000 knock-off aliens and sudden flower ending. It actually ran contrary to the whole message of 00 of humans needing to unite, become more accepting of those who are different, become enlightened, etc because in AOTB all that really mattered was that Setsuna's new gundam could teleport and mind-meld; societal development had nothing to do with the story at all..
Neither the 00 or SEED series had aliens. There was that one fossilized whale found on one of Jupiter's moons in SEED, but with the former AU's now being a single timeline that could easily just be from a jovian colony in a previous era (remember they even had whales on the moon in Turn A) instead of an alien spacewhale.
I've read that the concept of a post-series film where man first encounters aliens was originally going to be done with SEED but was scrapped and then later recycled in the 00 story, but I read it on 4chan so...
>Music It's kanno, whatever soundtrack she touches is gold
>Animation I can't actually think of any QUALITY in Turn A, it really looks good throughout. Also despite being slow and pretty pacifist the show still manages to have exciting fight scenes with good animation
>Design Some of the best designs mixed with old favourites. Turn A and X both stand out as amazing suits
>Different type of story It uses time wisely to build concepts and build the world which are different from the average gundam. It isn't really a war story (half the time the sides aren't really at war or on cease fire) so again stands out from most Gundams. Basically the only Gundam thing about the story is the war is bad stuff. It takes the base ideas and does something completely different instead of "This is gundam with all the gundam stuff but now newtypes are called *spins wheel* coordinators"
>>12506571 I won't say it's perfect, nothing in this franchise is, but I appreciate the first season of 00 more for trying to innovate (no pun intended) the franchise going forward. It tried a new style setting and it worked for them. Unfortunately it failed to leave a legacy so far. Though, there were clearly a lot of things changed before the start of the second, and end of the first. For instance, Graham/Bushido was wearing a standard federation uniform instead of A-Laws at the end of season 1 time skip. That should imply something right there.
>>12506624 Are we really gonna reach the 10th anniversary of 00 without there being a Gundam show even just remotely close to being as good as 00? AGE was crap, G-Reco was crap, and Build Fighters, while neat, falls more into something like SD Gundam, an odd side show.
>>12506962 Its just Pocahontas. Loran belongs to the Moon Tribe, but finds companionship on the rivaling side. Befriends both, wants neither to hurt each other. lots of light heartiness and fun and cuteness, then a notable character dies tragically to change a lot of feelings.
>>12506987 Problem with Gundam isn't that the story is complex, the problem is that there barely is a story and most of the shows go absolutely nowhere for long stretches of time without any progression at all because they have the timeslot for a whole year and need to show off the entire new collection of toys.
His family life being totally dysfunctional had more to do with that, the having a girls name thing is just that icing on the cake that makes him flip because he is constantly at the boiling over point.
Kamille just kind of idiotically thows himself into the situation, but he develops allot as a character. It's interesting because by episode 30 he is really starting to grow a conscious about all the enemies who he killed. He started off hardly caring but the war starts wearing him down and as his netwype powers grow he gets more and more sensitive to the situation, while also becoming less erratic.
Turn A is the best Gundam mainly for the character interaction and strong overarching plot. It's only downside are some goofy characters like Corin, by Tomino makes it work. Brilliant art and music, strong fight scenes when they do happen( watching Loran go at it with the two balls on chains is great), DIANA AND KIHEL, typical but well played Tomino apocalypse scenario about how man is going to doom himself over and over again. It's just a really great show in terms of Gundam animations I would say the top 5 would be
>>12507352 Its got the best romance plot in the series and the one sided rivalry between Kou and Gato is really interesting. A Gundam being a tragedy for once was also really interesting. Also, good animation and soundtrack.
>>12507312 >hey guys I'm gonna make a thread to talk about something >HEY FUCK YOU GUYS YOUR TASTE IS SHIT LMAO ENJOY BABBY CARTOONS FOR CHILDRON >dude fuck off we just want to talk about turn a >LMAO DEFEND YOUR CHILDRON CARTOON YOU MANCHILD LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
I'm lazy and want to watch Turn A even though I havent seen any Gundam series yet, I have it and 8th MS Team downloaded though. Should I go watch at least 0079 before Turn A? Would I appreciate it more?
>>12507764 Your filenames and posts make me cringe
>trying hard >kiddo >tdkr
Go the fuck back to /b/ or /tv/ or whatever cesspool regurgitated you out here
And the only reason I told him to watch the Zeta compilation movies was because he clearly fucking stated he wasn't patient enough to resist skipping to Turn A, essentially the last series in the UC timeline. Fucking tard
>>12507803 >>12507809 Ahahaha wow you guys are so fucking retarded you actually think when someone calls you stupid that they're calling themselves smart? I tip my fucking fedora at you. this thread has made me euphoric
5 posts later and you still can't say what's wrong with the A New Translation. Just resorting to the lowest level of arguing like the cornered animal you are
>>12507838 Did you miss the part about the guy being too impatient to watch anything before Turn A? Yeah sure we can tell him to watch every episode until then but I'm taking his circumstances into consideration, which seems to be some kind of alien concept around here
>>12507846 Right about fucking what? Who the fuck is arguing here? All I did was say to watch the shorter version if someone is too goddamn busy to watch a cartoon and some retard started memeing it up while the cavalry came to join him. Are you seriously this fucking stupid and desperate for a fight?
>>12507356 Kamille is the gundam pilot who had both the most stressful life and the most development. By the end of everything, he wound up more resolved and grown up than even Amuro, who in CCA is still not quite sure what to do with his own personal life.
>>12507909 yeah because I'm the one attacking someone over SUGGESTING A FUCKING CARTOON
yeah I'm the one who needs help, right? because there's nothing wrong with going off on someone over a simple suggestion, right? have you read the shit that's been posted so far? Fuck you faggot I want to knock your teeth out
>>12507921 Do you even know why I'm mad? Do you have no reading comprehension? My first fucking post in this thread was 'watch the compilation movies' and some fucking retarded little bitch faggot comes in with his OH SO CLEVER reddit tier maymays while the rest of you jump on board without making a single contribution to the discussion and generally shitting all over everything
I want to talk about cartoons but you shitstains would rather pretend this is /b/
>>12507934 I don't even go on /v/ you fucking faggot you just made the exact same argument you were making fun of 'huuuur anything I don't like is /v/'
also lol, like I'm supposed to conform to the standard of pretending not to be mad just to perpetuate a fight. this board culture is a joke, like you're expected to discuss things solely through reaction images and quoting posts
yeah I'll seek professional help please point me to a therapist that specializes in victims of internet retards
>>12507978 What the fuck do newfags think that pointing out that someone is mad is going to have some kind of effect? I'm having a hard time any of you are from /m/, this feels like some kind of invasion from 2008 >u mad lol
