Why does Getter Robo need 3 different forms and 3 pilots? Why don't they just give Getter 1 a drill and make it capable of fighting underwater? The other two forms seem pointless.
Go is a real robot and it still has three forms.
What's there to explain? It's a military robot with a gun and missiles that runs off plasma energy and doesn't do anything supernatural.
Ah, the classic "Denying Getter is a real robot" meme. A 2009 vintage, if I recall. A fine year for full-bodied, flavourful memes.
>Why don't they just give Getter 1 a drill and make it capable of fighting underwater?
Getter Robo was always edgy, just the fun kind of edgy. Even back in the 70s, even in the Toei Anime. Toei Hayato nearly kills a guy in the first episode by assaulting him with a soccer ball and mad footy skills. Manga Hayato is a fucking high school terrorist.
Hayato in the anime is fond of throwing knives, has murdered people onscreen (they turned out to be dinosaurs but they still clearly bled like humans), and that harmonica he favors is also a lethal throwing weapon in a pinch.
He also slices up sharks at one point with Ryoma. Was pretty cool.
Why is Dragonhorse considered a normal name to give your kids in Japan?
That's why you're fucking up, defend for everything this is one of those games where counter attacking and dodging are useless because the enemy just hits too hard.
you try defending when you're at less than 500 HP. it doesn't work. even then, Defending is just about as random as dodging, just based off a different stat.
...I really wish we'd get another game like Daikessen, where you and your enemy are about equal, and Dodging, attacking, and defending are mutually exclusive to eachother...
heck, it'd be the perfect excuse to finally fight in Getter Valhala for a single mission.
>Can your unit open get?
DO NOT COUNTER
>Can your unit fly and dodge?
DO NOT COUNTER
>Is your unit a fucking tank
DO NOT COUNTER.
deploy the damn healer on every stage, put your units on the whale to recover HP, always consider you'll get hit. CHANGE FORMS. Daikkesen seriouslly punish people who stay on getter-1 variations, and most importantly.
DO NOT FUCKING COUNTER.
but my healer is in Getter Poseidon. and the beetle is not as useful as Michiru's machine keeping Texas Mack and Getter Go on the field, and giving the Texas an extra Dobber Cannon shot.
and I know not to counter. I'm also smart enough not to spam Getter beams and get in the rough of things. though we all make a bad move and the enemy gangs up on a single unit and you're not always lucky enough to be in your Getter 3 form.
though I do need to find a use for the extra 2 pilots because the Stilva is pretty much worthless. the beetle moreso since I have Kei, Gai, AND two base-ships for unit healing.
How hard is it to play Daikessen if you don't know any moon? How hard is it if you've got some SRW moon experience?
Pic unrelated, just thought it'd be neat to share.
>Why does Getter Robo need 3 pilots
Most robots in the Getter universe require multiple pilots because they are complex pieces of machinery.
>Why does Getter Robo need 3 different forms
Saotome designed a robot that would never be at a terrain disadvantage and each form also represents speed, power or overall balance. Consequently to achieve that, you're going to need wildly different form factors. The lanky and quick land based Getter 2 isn't a stable and strong like the underwater Getter 3. Different forms was a necessity.
>tfw not sure whether you like Neo Getter or Shin Getter more
>The only non Getter mech worth a shit that isn't support is Texas Mack
Damnit, now I really need to play this shit. Did he even exist before SGvNG? He was in the Go anime, right?
Anime Hayato was fucking silly, it was great.
Like at one point he fucking does a backflip and ends up on the other side of some sports field, and then one time there was a guy trying to rebuild the Saotome Labs and he jumped from the ditch underneath it onto a steel beam and grabbed him.
He's from the Toei show, where he sort of showed up one episode, talked a bit of shit, showed his robot was actually worth the shit he was talking it up, had a dinosaur specifically prepared to counter him and got his machine damaged, went back to go get it fixed and never appeared again. He was the first mech in all of anime to use a shield and sword on the protag's side though.
Then SRW picked him up for some reason, decided that he would now be an Engrish spewing crazed Texan, and that sort of stuck in his future appearances.
umm...you need to learn menus, abilities, stats, and you need to UN-Learn a few things you're used to from SRW. I used to do an LP of Daikessen, but didn't get past mission 9 due to losing my screencaps, but I did manually translate a LOT of stuff.
I dunno, ask SvN's character desginers.
Maybe they just wanted to emphasize his whole "big friendly guy" deal a bit more? Roundness in character design is used for making this look cute and unimposing.
If that or something similar was the case though, it'd be weird since Gai wound up with so little screentime anyway.
why don't you go be a retard somewhere else?
Anyone who thinks the terms super and real carry any weight in giant robot shows (which is ironic in itself) should just off themselves.
Why does Sun Vulcan Robo need 3 pilots when all it does is AURA PLASMA GAESHI?
Why do you need to shout AURA PLASMA GAESHI 3 times to use it?
ok well maybe if you read the manga you wouldnt be shitting on this guy so hard. there really is a clear clut difference between regular getter and neo-getter/go. It doesnt even use getter rays, its referred to as getter just as a title and gets trashed and replaced by the big badass itself, Shin Getter
Confession: Shin vs Neo is my favourite of the Getter anime.
It doesn't have the highs of New and Armageddon at their peaks but its short length and story lets it stay concise and tell a consistent story, while the other two veer off track after their strong starting episodes. Texas Mack was funny, it actually uses manga enemies instead of pilfering ones from other Ishikawa manga and Musashi's last stand is stunning. Also, STORM is the best opening.
The only thing I can't forgive is fat Gai and the deus ex machina powerup at the end.
>Most of those are shouted as orders
Same with Getter for the most part.
Honestly, Getter Robo is vastly different depending on what continuity you're talking about.
>Toei Getter = classic super robot style
>OVA Getter = neo super robot style
>Manga Getter = real robot with mystic elements such as psychics and a sentient energy (being?)
They almost never shout attack names in Getter though.
Why did they give Shin Getter an edgy as fuck scythe in the OVA? Halberds/great axes are way cooler.
Maybe they thought it looked good with its arm blades or something. I agree that the axes are much better though.
Armageddon overall was pure edge. Note that it only uses the Scythe when Go is in it, but it switches to an axe when Ryoma takes over. SRWZ2 even takes this into account as a cool little detail.
Huh. I can't believe I didn't notice that.
>yfw Armageddon Shin is so fat it can't even fit its head between its shoulders without looking to the side
You got a problem with fat, son??
>discovered Getter radiation
>harnessed Getter energy
>built Getter robo
>stood up to dinosaurs
>saved the world
>saved the future
>fixed getter machines
>beat up americunts
I agree, but I didn't mind God Getter because in all honestly, the moment he said GETTER SHINE the fight was over. That they applied it over Shin Getter as a power up instead of then saying SHIN SHINE SPARK and ramming Gore was immaterial to the ending.
