>>13333579 Make it tonally much closer to ZZ. Zeta is shit because it takes itself way too serious and has a stick up its ass because muh war drama. Gundfam isnt about that. Zeta ruined Gundam by turning it into edgy brooding war dramas with shit characterization instead of the fun, lighthearted yet serious when need be that has memorable characters like 0079/ZZ.
>>13333866 IMO it doesnt really come out of nowhere. On my rewatch of Zeta I noticed Char and Reccoa had a weird chemistry, Reccoa starts off very stoic but once she starts feeling like she wants "more" out of life you see her cuddling up to Char a lot more, at one point Char pretty much had to tell her what she wanted to hear to get her to sortie.
Zeta had a lot of little shit like that, you mostly see it in the middle. There's also the "videotape from Hong Kong" Kamille lent the crew and Yazan squeezing some guys balls.
Not necessarily 'fix', but I've always thought it would have ben neat if Four died for real the first time. Then Kamille stumbles upon her clone at Kilimanjaro, and they go through a 'what makes a human?' story arc instead of Sarah's and Rosamia's story lines.
Make Gates and Loren the relevant characters Give Char the red Zeta More Haman and pre-Zeta story Make Reccoa and Katz a bit more sane Give Zeta a second season based on Tomino's original plans. >>13333867 And this
>>13333579 Make the newtype stuff more consistent. Foreshadow the ending a bit more. The newtype ghost powerups and new type anti beam fuckery comes out of nowhere. Expend more effort to explain what the biosensor does.
>>13334142 Not likely. Sayla and Kai have spent a half of a year on the White Base in 0079 and they were trying to find Char after the war (as far as I know, this is the main point of Artesia 0083 story of The Origin). And Reccoa could know about Kai only for his publications and interviews in different mass-media and she knew him personally only for a few days. >>13334162 >I'd like to imagine after he lost Miharu he abandoned love. And I like to think that he was working with Sayla while searching for Char and his feelings to Sayla were born in the first half of 0080s. Later Sayla and Kai wrote a biography of Char based on Sayla's memories and new sources of information.
As far as side content like manga/OVA, etc: I think a story about the Junior Mobile Suit competition Kamille entered would be neat. See his start in all that shady AEUG research and looking up the White Base.
A cool background element would be the original test run/impression the Federation/Titans had of the Hizack. How shocked they would be dealing with using Zeon-esque tech. Them not being used to the way the suit piloted since they were previously assigned GM suits. Not huge changes, the overall story is fine to me, I just want more background info on the world and people reacting to it. >>13334216 Conceptually, it makes sense. If you have a slightly older car, but the car functions and the body is in decent shape, you could just as easily spend some cash to improve the parts then to buy a new car.
War dramas are fine, but Tomino is a cartoon director and his staff has little writing skills. That's why they're creating cartoons, and not working epic Japanese jidageki dramas.
Zeta's writing is absolutely garbage even by cartoon standards, but it is an entertaining show. Just accept it for what it is, a giant robot cartoon made to appeal to kids and you'll have an easier time with people not taking it seriously.
Have Four come with Kamille to space, make the Rosamia arc an arc where Four looses her marbles again and betrays the Argama after becoming an integral part of the team.Basically, fuse Rosamia and Four into one person.
The Rosamia arc itself was good and had allot of purpose in the show, but Rosamia herself really had no reason to exist.
Zeta feels is like the grand daddy of trainwreck anime like Geass, Valvrave and Cross Ange. I liked ZZ better since it was more relaxed and felt more like a flowing story, but in retrospect Zeta is more interesting because of how it influenced so much.

I think you have a point in that Tomino's shows have a lot of craziness that predates modern mecha, but at the same time the term trainwreck is uninformative and poorly used. Not to mention that I'd say ZZ belongs in the same category with Zeta at the very least. It starts out goofier, but that's also in line with Tomino's directorial ways.
>>13335464 It is still tomino-y but I found the plot easier to follow than Zeta's. The first 18 episodes felt like the SoL backstory that some anime sometimes use. I like that approach because it gives me more time to like the world and characters before shit goes down.
>>13337341 What we really need is an /m/ goer that can speak Japanese and resembles Tomino from a few decades ago. That way, we can not only kill, but replace Tomino completely, and retarded slanties won't know better. It's the only way.
