Episode 3 - Glorious Demise
Chryse Guard Security in-universe diary translated:
I was out of /m/ for a time, good to see everything in the board still the same, so I truly want to know what is the general opinion of guys about the series so far?
and yes, I know I should not ask for consensus on /m/, but anyway
It's fine but unless it tries to be way more ambitious than it is right now, and right now it doesn't feel like they're even trying to present something that hooks or entertains you, I can see that it just petering out and people stop caring because nothing really happens and there's nothing to discuss except "Well I guess it was cool when the Barbatos hit the other MS with his melee weapon...again..."
Being 2 cour also works against it, since like I said, either we get 25 episodes of ITSFUCKINGNOTHING.jpg or we get something incredibly rushed and contrived like G-reco.
I'm enjoying it, which is scaring the fuck out of me considering who's involved. I'm afraid the descent into hamfisted melodramatic shit is a matter of when, not if a "plot twist" of grocery girl (Atra?) dying or something inevitably happens.
>I'm afraid the descent into hamfisted melodramatic shit is a matter of when,
It happened in the second episode and it wasn't subdued. Good to know that Nanji liked big tits before he died.
It's not like I care about the series.
Animated Hyakuren WHEN?
>>13391127 spoilered for off-topic
Gunplafag here. He's been one of the shitposters plaguing /gpg/ for months, who recently got a trip so he's finally filterable. Just filter/report/ignore, he's never had anything new to contribute/never made anything other than an attentionwhoring shitpost.
You know /m/'s ideal /m/ anime is about a bunch of grizzled old war veterans getting into their land-only tank-ish mecha who do nothing but kill space Nazis without giving and fucks and ignore women for bromanship
Honestly, this show is halfway there
>tfw there will never be an epic romance between mika and jewhime
Wing & 00 all over again, fujo are a scourge to be purged.
I dunno, I don't think Wing and 00 had anything like this
The only romance this should have at all is him maybe noticing Atra's feelings during his character development. Bonus points if he doesn't know how to deal with it but isn't a faggot about it.
>tfw she knows she's going to lose
The Major is also plenty kawaii too, bro.
Ballistic weaponry! No funnels!
I'm in heaven!
Why not numbering the threads?
This is thread #7
I like it a lot so far, ep. 1 was kinda boring but I want to know where it goes
Unimpressive so far but have potential to be decent, I just dislike the fact that the tropes are all in place and obvious.
Also the pandering are so equally dispersed and seems to end exactly as if someone pressed a button on a stopwatch and said "times up folks, let's move on to the main plot after our designated 1 minute moefag pandering" e.g. Ojo's soup scene with Mika.
It's not that I dislike pandering, but it's so industrial and feels out of place.
>Unimpressive so far but have potential to be decent, I just dislike the fact that the tropes are all in place and obvious.
I like it. It's my first time following a series as a "gundam fan", though, but it's fun to guess how the sunrise rollercoaster will work its magic.
I think the world view and how the story currently treats the protags have potential, but right now I think the pacing is way too slow, if they keep this up this show will be fucked.
I will watched it till the end anyways like I did with Age, at least it can't be that bad.
While that would be neat, it was said that on his death he leaned up his staff to prop his corpse up and all 72 demons stood in fear of retribution that he was merely pretending to be dead until his body finally rotted away. To have Solomon be the final boss is far too powerful, he'd be the creator of the frame and the only able to make the double-ahab work
How much do you think the show will use the Barbatos theme? Because if they keep the mech aligned with the demon, it'll be great because either we won't have a split between the Tekkadan or it'll be fixed quickly
Kudelia is fucking cute
I like how this was all a boob joke.
There is no reason for her to die.
Orga is the one who will fill that roll besides Atra is to cute to die in a modern Gundam show. She is getting a lot of attention too so i expect her to end up with Mikazuki in the end
Look I'm all for Gundam breaking the mold as much as you (even though I don't really have a reason to really like Atra that much yet) but you know this franchise is too ingrained in common recurring shit to let that ever happen
>Person is dying
>Asks MC to die a death on the battlefield as he cannot self-terminate
I seriously believe you wanted Mikazuki to break out into a speech about why must human life be taken away so easily
No, I expected him to wait a second instead of gunning him down mid-sentence. It was kind of hilarious. I was just expecting a little more buildup before they killed him off.
Be careful not to cut yourself on that edge though.
No no, I definitely got that feeling too. It definitely felt like 'contractually obliged stuttering girl spills her spaghetti in front of the totally cool protagonist' that all the otaku-pandering animes go for these days.
Also Biscuit's sisters are already insufferable.
I hope Atra ends up as Mika's consolation prize after this retarded-faced princess dies after emotionally moving his frozen autismo heart, and it shows Atra's face as she realizes she will forever be second place to some dead bitch, like Emily and Flit's relationship at the end of AGE Gen 1.
No new show will ever have a non-cancerous fanbase.
Or a non-cancerous hatedom, for that matter.
Old shows too.
You know what, fuck everyone. All humans are terrible.
But they're so transparently there to maintain some kind of moe quota that all newly-airing anime must have, because it's hardly as if they have any personality beyond 'small cute anime girl #3 and 4'. They're a jarring presence in a show where child soldiers have been visibly shot in the head, and it would be better without them.
They need to turn down the cute, it's kind of jarring when they're introduced in the same episode where it's shown how shitty it is for kid living on Mars. Which also brings into question why biscuits so fat. There's no reason why they shouldn't be cheery, I mean they're young maybe the bleakness of life hasn't set in for them yet or they're the kind of people who find ways to be happy no matter what they're situation. But the way it's portrayed feels too saccharine considering the overall tone of the rest of what we've seen in the series so far. Also It doesn't help that they sound like and obviously are voiced by fully grown women.
Katz made me so pissed. I like how he was at first when he was giving Amuro shit for being so passive, but from around the time he meets Sarah and onwards he just shits the bed nearly every time he's on screen.
I see you missed every single G-Reco thread.
Just for /m/'s education, Cookie is the one with braids. She is more composed than her sister, and ernest. She usually (but not always) appears on screen to the viewer's left. Cracker has a ponytail and is more energetic and assertive (and occasionally rude). She usually appears to the viewer's right.
wasn't expecting that
They dont call him Mika "unleashin' rage on the old age" Augus for nothing
I really fucking hate how they handled her
All I can think of is those medic episodes in Turn A and how much better they are. Dianna struggles to be useful in and comes to realise how hard the world really is from actions. At the end though Loran helps with the turn a showing there is still hope for good things to happen. You need every fucking pair of hands you can get in a war even for something difficult like being a nurse, they would never turn her away.
This just goes NO MUH POOR WHILE YOU ARE RICH SO BAD AND CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND. And they are just right, she never has to actually learn from doing stuff but being a rich woman makes her useless and she should just accept this
This has 3 episodes with a truck load of exposition, shit is set up enough that they should be making their characters interesting. Not accepting they are useless as a person and should only be their to pay money, that is the actually resolution she came to and it was portrayed as something good.
Doesn't anyone realise that the PMC business license still belongs to CGS? CGS could always take legal action against Tekkadan & given their current relation with the military, the government top brass may probably fully support CGS's case to take them down.
Not to mention people probably won't do business with a bunch of kids. It's one thing they were employed & oversaw by adults, another when they're running the business. Government probably won't approve if Orga reapply for license since they're a bunch of teens.
Neither of you addressed the actual point as you can't.
The episode is itself incredibly contained and didn't need much set up. Dianna is a princess so rich and hasn't done those things, Lily is testing her thinking she is Kihel. That's all you need to know going in and IBO has sure spent it sweet time with exposition so we fucking get it already. It has been bashed into our skulls that Kudelia is a horrible person for daring to be born rich, that set up is all there.
But no lets not have her do stuff and instead resolve that she is not useful in any other form than giving money, that is the actual resolution she comes to which tells us what type of peace princess she will be
>kudelia's dad's government
>any sort of inquiry into the CGS debacle while daughter is stull living, so it can possibly blow up in his face and he'll be outsted when people involved in old CGS point fingers truth comes to light
I don't know. Just be surprised the dad hasn't learned that his daughter now owns a small private army. He's goy his hands full pretendig CGS doesnt exist, maybe
>Neither of you addressed the actual point as you can't.
I can't because the show isn't over yet. I can't complain about that stuff until I actually have an idea that they are actively never going to do anything with her in the same capacity as Diana or Relena
>It has been bashed into our skulls that Kudelia is a horrible person for daring to be born rich, that set up is all there.
I don't think that's what they are doing
With that attitude we may as well just delete the general. No opinions allowed especially negative
>I don't think that's what they are doing
MIka has straight up made that point and any grown up with money is goofy evil. There was a scene of them stuffing gold in a bag to run away with it for fucks shake
>that all newly-airing anime must have
It's pretty obviously both. Just look at any of it and you see poor kids suffer while rich adults are comically stupid. The fractions are poor children v rich earth adults. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a flash back about Crank and find out he was a poor orphan once so that's why he wasn't a joke
So Iron-Blooded Orphans is a subtle socialist propaganda, enticing the exploited poor to raise and fight back the rich.
And Kudelia will be the Che of Gundam later in show.
I can dig it.
>With that attitude we may as well just delete the general. No opinions allowed especially negative
That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying that I can't rush to make an immediate judgement of her character when I don't know where they're going with it 3 episodes in. Especially when your biggest comparison was with something that happened in Turn A nearly halfway through its story.
>MIka has straight up made that point and any grown up with money is goofy evil
I'm pretty sure it's just adults in general
>He thinks the "obligatory cute things" in anime is some new thing
> immediate judgement
So I'm not allowed to make a judgement? If you say I am then bitching I have an opinion after 3 episodes is pointless
>halfway through its story.
It's like you didn't even read my comment, the set up to that episode is simple. But you want to be a contrarian, fine. Kihel from the start doesn't want to be a normal lady but someone who does stuff in the world. in the first 3 episodes we see her choose to go to university and take on various PA roles trying to find her place. Sochie is similar in joining the army and while not as good as Loran says she will keep trying, pointed out in those 3 episodes. Their parents aren't completely for these actions but they push on as are strong characters and want to find their place in the world.
Kudelia gets told by a manlet she is useless so doesn't do anything. She is made out to be weak and useless only good for her money as rich people don't get muh suffering orphan life. That is the actual resolution they come to, you'd have more of an argument is she was still looking for a place but that is actually what they had these 3 episodes lead up to.
So... Small tank-like grunts, ballistic weaponry, blunt weaponry,The chassis and general mech design, use of firearms, Characters who are simply fucked in the head, yet, as it seems so far, loyal to their own philosophy and group. (I'm actually kind of alright with the sisters and Kudelia's spaghetti as relief)
I'm liking this so far. Hoping things carry on like this. I'm in heaven.
Am I the only one who really hopes Biscuit gets a combat role later in the series? I know it's an almost sure thing He'll be planted on the bridge all the time in space, but if he turns out to be a really fucking good mobile suit pilot and shatters all the other kids' perception of him that'd be based.
Hey, hey, were you the Build Babies guy?
Can I have your autograph?
> Kudelia will be the Che of Gundam later in show.
The only and true Che of Gundam is Cumpa "I'll save your kids and share all this technology with you if you kill the inferior Spacenoids for the sake of evolution" Rusita.
I saw it more as she unknowingly insulting Mika and the others. Like, imagine this very rich person comes up to you, removes their silk glove and goes "Hey anon, I wanna shake hands with you to be on your level!"
Wouldn't you be kind of offended they're "lowering" themselves to your level? By stating there's a need to be on the same level, she's acknowledging the difference between them and rubbing it in Mika's face, even if that's not her intent. Which I can honestly understand.
That isn't what happens at all. She just wants a handshake as that's a normal thing to do when you meet a person. Then Mika stairs at her glove like how fucking dare you so she takes it off yet he is still a dick
It says more about Mika really. If you literally can't take any gesture from someone as they are rich so obviously think you are scum and trying to screw you, then you might have issues
Except she clearly thinks that Mika is some kind of sweet-kid charity case, from how she picks him, the shortest and the quietest, out of all the CGS personnel she met first. That's basically what he was chastising her for, notwithstanding the gulf between ludicrously rich client and expendable child soldier.
Thought that was fairly obvious, really.
>sweet-kid charity case
No she doesn't. That isn't even suggested, only Orga is talking in that scene apart from when they are all asked to say hello. She never treats anyone like you wouldn't treat a normal person in that scene yet she is the bad guy for it.
>notwithstanding the gulf between ludicrously rich client and expendable child soldier.
You mean the one she tried to cross but Mika refused to? Someone who can't get over that but instead pushes all their woes on a girl trying to be friendly is the one with issues
> Someone who can't get over that but instead pushes all their woes on a girl trying to be friendly is the one with issues
Well, first off, Mikazuki doesn't really seem like a guy who you can just approach and be buddies with instantly. But that's another thing.
Secondly, there's more than one perspective to this, and, well, what he's seen is this upper-class girl - bearing in mind his attitude towards people in the higher strata - bombard him with cordial sweet-talk and act like she understands him. Different eyes tell different stories, or whatever.
I mean, Jesus, she even reflects on it and calls herself an idiot for thinking that, it's not hard to miss.
>there's more than one perspective to this,
And any way you look at it Mika comes off as intolerable and jaded which isn't really a good thing. Even if they backtrack and go look some rich guy touched him that's still jaded and painting every rich person as the same. Slice it how you want but Mika's actions are not positive ones you should be agreeing with. Can't even go well it's a mission so be nice to the client who has only been nice to me
>she even reflects on it and calls herself an idiot for thinking that
She think she is an idiot for trying to help and saying people died for her, never mind they were attacked because of her and were being paid to protect her.
>And any way you look at it Mika comes off as intolerable and jaded which isn't really a good thing
Well, 'intolerable' is one thing, but if you're a kid who's probably been fighting before you hit double digits, I think being jaded is somewhat unavoidable.
Doesn't make it a god thing, Mika isn't meant to come off well in these scenes and him growing out of that
hopefully not to full UNDERSTANDINGwill probably be his whole progression.
Same reason they had him just shoot guys no problem so early, it is to show he will grow to value life.
>The fractions are poor children v rich earth adults.
They are probably going to drop the lack of funding and the difficulty of maintaining machines going through extensive combat.
First battle with the mobile workers was really awkward they mentioned Gjallarhorn being able to fire more and doing better at long range but first thing the Gjallarhorn workers do is charge.
Hopefully at least one person in Gjallarhorn is a competent commander.
Where are they going to get the prototype they are almost broke and their equipment is ancient which makes it seems like they wouldn't have any contacts with the ability to conduct the research and development necessary to produce a decent prototype.
There is still the problem of finding a company with the ability to design and create a new machine.
Unless they have the same manufacturer as earth, it would probably turn out poorly due to a complete lack of experience.
Of course these details could be ignored.
They did it to Relena's real dad in Wing.
They did it to Relena's foster-father in Wing.
They did it to Fllay's dad in SEED.
They did it to Cagali's foster-father in SEED.
I think Aida's dad also died in G-Reco.
Of course something going to happen to Kudelia's dad.
Not saying that they were not successful, but that the sneaking into a base and managing to steal the most expensive thing there is slightly obnoxious.
Also the guy who was supposed to steal the strike in Seed but 4/5 isn't bad.
Anon, pls, she says so herself. That's where the "I declined because my hands are dirty. Which means we aren't on the same level."
How is that back peddling? I said I addressed what you said in other posts, seeing as you are lazy though
>You mean the one she tried to cross but Mika refused to? Someone who can't get over that but instead pushes all their woes on a girl trying to be friendly is the one with issues
>And any way you look at it Mika comes off as intolerable and jaded which isn't really a good thing. >Doesn't make it a god thing, Mika isn't meant to come off well in these scenes
Mika is the one that forces the divide between them not Kudelia who wished to ignore it. He is jaded about the world while she is a little too innocent. The show has obviously not been portraying Mika in a good light having him shoot people with no qualms, you aren't meant to agree with him on stuff but wonder how he got so fucked up.
what would IBO's 2nd OP be like? Example of Okada OP2s
you can't really guess how the music will be just from, "Okada"
It will probably be like 00 or Reco - 1st OP was more "epic", 2nd was more "moody"
Love ebb & flow btw
I don't get the hate for Kudelia. She's a very well done version of those people I'm sure everyone knows in real life who are silver spoon do-gooders who are out of touch with all the realities of the bullshit they support. But Kudelia is earnest and genuinely feels for these people and is putting herself in danger trying to be their advocate. She is putting up cash and trying to do whatever she can to help. Like, what the fuck is everyone so mad about? She's a dumb, spoiled rich girl. What do you expect?
Not to mention that unlike other piss princesses, Kudelia gets her shit kicked in constantly. She's berated and insulted and looked at as an other. She's useless and can't handle anything in this world and is made painfully aware of it at every turn.
All the bitching basically comes downt o "BAAAWWWWW FUCK THE RICH MAYNE"
>She's a very well done version of those people I'm sure everyone knows in real life who are silver spoon do-gooders who are out of touch with all the realities of the bullshit they support.
Where are you getting this from?
>stairs at her glove like how fucking dare you
He looks at her CLEAN WHITE glove and thinks about how dirty his hands are. This ain't rocket surgery, anon.
She is clean because she is privileged and doesn't have to work. He is used to his hands being dirty and it doesn't bother him, but he knows it would bother her. She offers to be on the same level with him only because she doesn't grasp how dirty his world is. The look on her face when he shows her his hands confirms that she would not have offered if she'd known. That's why he says "we're not on the same level to begin with". Even though she wants to be accepting of them as equals, she doesn't realize how much she's been sheltered. He is looking down on her at that point for freaking out over a little dirt just like he knew she would.
It's just kind of okay so far. It's nothing impressive, but it's enjoyable enough. It's not going to wow you or be terribly memorable, but I'm having fun with it, if only because I love the designs.
I could not give a shit about the characters, though.
Someone should really tell him that his beard is retarded.
I swear to god, I can't pay attention to a single line of dialog when that motherfucker is on-screen, I can't concentrate on anything other than my overwhelming desire to teleport to the show's universe just to shave that ugly nonsense beard.
He just misplaced his mustache, or maybe he lost the middle of his goatee in a tragic shop accident
anyway, it doesn't actually phase me
Yeah. It shows how solid the kid is doesn't it? Orga said that of the 10+ who did it at the same time as him and Mika, only 6 survived. Someone weak like Kudelia would probably die on the table.
Did anyone notice Kudelia is the only one with 2 different designs, for her hairs?
"She tries to be a nurses" is an overrated trope.
>Both those girls are adorable.
Noredo > Dianna
She doesn't need a rifle to protect her husbando.
Noredo "Don't fuck your sister, eat out a sandwich mister" Nug
These must be the most "Wow, it is fucking nothing" previews.
I hoping it is a character episode. We need a proper antagonist to get into and for them to flesh out the cast apart from going hey Kudelia is useless
If they don't I may just drop this series as I am struggling to care
>hinted SoL scenes
You must be, ADHD-kun.
>And the old man was a boring and flat character.
I wouldn't say that, more he had potential that was wasted. He could have been a much needed human side of the bad guys. Instead he was killed early to shock the viewer that Mika would do that, even though we all saw it coming
I think the series is shit--
/m/ doesn't care, but anyway.
I think Orga is a shitty Kamina
(I think), but anyway.
I really think MC is autistic
You know what I mean, but anyway.
I think this show will turn out to be shit,
but I don't know right now, but anyway
It's a state of affairs, a state of shitposting--
The kind of bait that you just can't ignore
I tell you one thing you tell me it's bait
We reset or IPs then post more
Interview with producer/planning guy:
>We're going to space in around 3 episodes (around episode 7)
>More female characters are going to be introduced; Tekkadan will have more girls
>A lot more characters will be introduced in general; the cast will grow 3 sizes after they go into Space
>Kudelia's resolution isn't fully steeled yet, she still has growing up to do.
>We're going to see more cracks on Orga's coolness due to the pressure of leadership getting to him.
>Atra will remain a "child" all the way to the end. She is an innocent character that will serve as contrast for everyone else.
So how many gundams start off without a war but one begins within the show?
>08th MS Team
Well into the OYW
Gryps war hasn't started in earnest yet, but there have been AEUG/Titan skirmishes already
Starts as one war flows seamlessly into the next
Char's Rebellion is already underway
LaPlace Conflict hasn't started in earnest yet, but there have been EFSF/Sleeves skirmishes already
Zanscare invasion of Earth is underway
No war, but its substitute (the tournament) begins immediately
MC's effectively start the war immediately
4 (I don't remember, did an actual war ever develop at all?)
Bloody Valentine War is underway
Starts in the aftermath of the start of the Second Bloody Valentine War
7 (there are already wars, but the main conflict of the story did not begin before the show)
>A Wakening of the Trailblazer
Main story starts off well into the One Hundred Year War, and even the prologue starts in the midst of a battle
11 (Did not start off in a war, and the battles they've fought thus far seem somewhat isolated)
I'd call that a little under half of Gundam starting off in peacetime.
>4 (I don't remember, did an actual war ever develop at all?)
I believe so, or at least, it was about to. The space colonies were preparing for war and Garrod basically stops it when he goes into space. Also, there's an earth-based resistance fighting aganst the feddies.
I'm cautiously optimistic so far. There's nothing huge I dislike and there's the groundwork for a lot of things I could potentially like
>The complete lack of energy weapons continues. (I didn't miss one did I?, was one hidden?)
>Giant flanged mace pike bunker thing pleases me, I hope it sticks around
>The child soldier angel feels a bit heavier here than in other gundam series. While it's been played a lot I hope this series does something well with it
>Mikazuki kills almost too easily I think. I mean I know /m/ wants nothing more than a stone cold sociopath who doesn't care about the hundreds of deaths they dole out but it seems he's just a little too casual about it. I hope this gets explored and he's not just left as "generic badass doesn't blink at violence" guy
That last one I'm the most cautious about. I'm not a huge fan of UNDERSTANDING but at the same time I think the polar opposite might be a bit much. (I'm more of a late season Amuro/Kamille "I don't really want to kill but I will because the cause I'm fighting for is important enough" kind of guy)
Mikazuki "Out to pop every grown-up" Augus
Mikazuki "If you're an adult, you're getting culled" Augus
Mikazuki "If you're older than eighteen, I will poison your canteen" Augus
Mikazuki "Death's descent upon every adolescent" Augus
