Naganofags are the worst. Why does anyone even want to defend this hack manchild?
I honestly have no idea why anyone thought Gothicmade would be some kind of masterpiece. It's literally a doujin anime and marketed as such. The tiny amount of people working on it is a clear indication of this. It's interesting to look at, but it's obviously not made to compete with normal theatrical features. If anything, it should be compared to independent one-man shows like Cencoroll or Hoshi no Koe, which are also all very interesting works but unrefined as Gothicmade.
It's because unlike those two you mentioned, Gothicmade was a theatrical release, and Nagano is a fairly well known name in mecha anime. The trailer also made it look quite cinematic.
You could tell it wasn't standard quality due to the weirdly stilted animation in the trailer though.
Flash isn't stilted though, most of it is buttery smooth to the point of mannequin physics.
Gothicmade shows a clear lack of in-between animation and unnecessarily long still images and pans.
Purposely making flash animation look stilted takes a lot more effort than drawing choppy animation by hand. If you want to know what I'm talking about, watch Wakfu.
The option Nagano decided to take to make this movie is pretty obvious.
I usually don't like Turn A redesigns, but this is honestly pretty neat. Did Nagano really draw it, or is it just fan-art, as I suspect?
You can draw frame-by-frame in Flash, you dingus.
You can, but that's hand drawn animation and not actual flash animation. A lot of people like Bahi draw using flash on their tablets, bit that doesn't make it flash animation, which involves manipulating objects.
Why does everyone hate Nagano again?
Your crotch is the center of gravity.
It's the most logical place for a cockpit on a humanoid machine.
Physics says your opinions is shit and you are a horrible person.
I'd think the head is the most ideal place to put the cockpit because it's not the center of mass everyone will be shooting at, though this depends on the pilot interface and etc so you have a point. Plus giant robot penis is funny.
Eh, the head is too tempting of a target. Honestly, the torso, especially the chest area is going to give you the best chance at armoring the cockpit. Yes, it's the center of mass, but it's also the center of protection. You could do like Code Geass had and have the cockpit in the back, to also act as an ejection seat in an emergency.
Gundam cockpits really lack that sort of escape.
I may not know what a gothicmade is, or why everyone gives it five stars. But I am sure as hell feeling these designs.
Having the cockpit stick out is just as ridiculous, unless your mech only faces one direction all the time.
And unless both sides agree, a gently floating ejection seat is a ridiculously tempting shot.
Knightmare Frames are neat though, they'd be awesome in Votoms universe not in CG.
WELP GET READY, cause I'm gonna tell you! Gothicmade is a complete retcon of Nagano's magnum opus, Five Star Stories. Five Star Stories is an absolutely epic manga, spanning 12 volumes. The events of the entire story were written out in outline form in the first volume, because for Nagano, his idea was that the events themselves weren't important, the characters and how they reacted were.
Gothicmade shits all over this by redesigning all the Mortarheadds (mechs) into stick-thin, even more physics-defying than usual abominations with nonsensical joints and rediculous weapons.
On the assumption you're serious the Five Star Stories is the name of the stories Nagano wrote and drew about machines, the Mortar Headds, and Gothicmade is basically a redo and retcon for the modern day many fans didn't really like.
>Gundam cockpits really lack that sort of escape.
Gundam has a variety of ejectable escape pods. Various core fighters, those ejectable panoramic cockpits, and detachable heads/GN drives.
No, it would be either this or the Bang Doll.
>Is it wrong to kind of like it? It's beautiful, in a fragile sort of way.
Not at all. The Gothicmades do have something special to them. But I personally think they're inferior to the Mortar Headds.
It's mostly the waist/torso that kills the GTMs for me. With the amount of detail to the frame, they look appalling because of how small they are.
Have we seen a full shot of Magna Palace/KoG yet? I dig the head.
Kinda weird for a son to share his dad's given name, but not his surname.
But no, Mamoru Nagano is more like his protegé of sorts. The legend goes that they met while Nagano was cosplaying as an electric guitar-playing Char in an event.
I'm glad shows like Valvrave or IS exist for you!
Hirai is a deal breaker, get some taste.
>SEED or Valvrave
I suppose I could say Gargantia or 00, or M3, but many people like those shows, and I don't want to be too alienating. I like those shows too, despite their shortcomings.
Oh, how bout Buddy Complex? Practically no one has seen it, and it's not held in particularly high regard outside the animation, but it has some nice character designs. There! I'm glad a mediocre show with nice character designs exists for your consumption!
I liked Buddy Complex too
Stick to Buddy Complex, nerd.
Stop dipshit, don't bait people into coming in our threads
