>>13465609 I don't think they will say it but yes, the best thing is they let you renter the character creator after doing a late game side quest and even come up with a story reason for why you can https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsaO1m1-_W4 Here's some of the english VA but once they get into battle you can hear the MC's Fiora voice. There might be no duel audio
>>13465619 Its entirely unclear, one of the big marketting pushes for the game was that they had some cool as fuck VA's but they haven't really said anything for the English dub. It looks like it might be the original cast and some generic cast.
You can install a pretty faulty backup loader on Wii U which have not been upgraded past 5.3.2 Works on a handful of games, Xenoblade X is one of those, at least the japanese version is.
And yes, 8-4 the studio behind this game atrocious translation confirmed they put stuff like "Thank you Mr. Skelltal" in the game. Apparently years old shitty memes are worth destroying the actual script over.
Don't worry anon, the Wii U has so few games worth playing you can buy them all with a minimum wage in Zaire. Hell in 2 years I bought 10 games for it, and feel like I haven't missed on anything. I'm sure you'll be able to scrape together $60 for December.
>>13465886 /v/ has been fucking terrible, if you hate censorship you're a pedo, if you say more is censored they point to Bayo 2 and ignore Fatal Frame, if you say you want NoE or XSeed to localize it or the future games then they claim they're worse than NoA with nothing to back them up.
Unfortunately the rest of the game is fucking shit. The Tales series never had "GREAT" writing but ToZ is embarrassing even by it's standards.
The rules about malevolence and hellions flip flop constantly at the whim of the plot, no one's motivation or actions make a lick of sense and the hero is just beyond bland. He has no emotive response to fucking anything. He'll brush off walking into a group of dead children like a normal person might a bit of road kill.
>>13465013 >beginning of the year >incredibly excited for XBCX, XBC was one of my favorite games of all time >this one has fucking mechs in it >japanese directs look cool as hell, music and atmosphere are great >suddenly treehouse stream >SKELLS >WE'LL CHANGE THAT I don't even know if I want to buy this game anymore man
>>13466006 Not him, but they changed the name of the mechs from Dolls to Skells. This is a big thing since apparently the name Dolls was very plot relevant or something. I'm not too privy on the details (want to have a virgin experience with it) but it pisses me off because there's no real reason to change the name.
>>13466006 back in april or may, the first time we got any look at the game was a stream from the Treehouse crew. they were using the Japanese game because localization hadn't really begun yet. first they announced some name changes, namely changing the mech names from Dolls to "Skells", a fucking inane change in my opinion. it sounds stupid. as they moved through the game, they showed some other stuff, and eventually got to the job (?) list, or whatever the different specialty areas are called. one of the groups was called "Testament" and upon reading that one of the Treehouse members remarked "oh we'll change that"
>>13466025 Heres why its important spoilers for the original version Doll represents the humans that are left as well, your are all machines being controller by your original body but at the end of the game they find out they don't know where your bodies all are
>>13466048 because Treehouse are a bunch of special snowflake 20-somethings that feel the need to insert their bullshit into other people's visions, to make it seem like they do something other than translating at their job. have you seen the screencaps of some of the crazy (for lack of a better term) social justice shit some of them have posted? one of them even went to /v/ to copy dissenting remarks about them to put in a google doc as "evidence of misogny" or some shit like that
>>13466064 >>13466074 >>13466076 Am I the only one getting really tired of all this PC shit? I mean the kind of person who would get offended by that is the same kind of person who wouldn't buy the game anyway. Why alienate the people who actually would buy it just to appease these people? Even if a stink was kicked up all it would mean is more press for NoA. It just doesn't make any rational sense.
>>13466087 nah man, the worst part is that they can't even keep it to themselves, they're doing this bullshit to the most niche games for fuckall reasons, and ruining things for the people that would gladly be paying customers had they not done this. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that they want some kind of power, and this is as much power as they can really flex.
>>13466087 Rumor has it that NoJ caught wind of it and before his death Iwata was supposed to tell NoA to quit it but since he died nothing came of it, however they might take action since a lot of people are already sick of NoA's bullshit.
>>13466147 unfortunately they seem to. I wouldn't hate a lot of these treehouse people so much, if I was able to actually voice my thoughts about XBCX to them. turns out, having a friend on twitter who followed someone involved with GG was enough to get MY account put on a "blocklist". I barely even use the thing anyway, but I wasn't even able to say shit to the people that matter in the localization.
>>13466121 >>13466131 All rumors have some sort of basis of truth, I don't necessary recall some games being censored under Iwata's run unless it was FE:A but that was 8-4 translating and he had no control over it, hopefully the new CEO will look at the sales and try to figure it was NoA screwing up the sales of good games and take action.
>>13466185 I think he might, he was in charge of finance or at least something to do with money and he should be smart enough to realize that people want a region free product, and the NX was in development during the time when Iwata alive
>>13466193 But we are talking about the game. The game is going to be shit if the localization is going to be shit. As for gameplay yeah it looks hype as hell, and the mechs are cool Mastema Master Race but if they ruin the story it doesn't really matter considering it's an RPG and desperately banks on the story.
>>13466193 The game was out since April and some people who played it said the storyline was confusing and the quest system was pretty difficult to understand because of the day and night system in which certain NPCs appear during that time.
>>13466218 I thought it was cool that you can slap a flight pack onto a robot, instead of having to pick between flight and transforming. But I feel like I'm going to spend a stupid amount of time intentionally crashing into stuff, running over clifs, transforming in midair and reloading saves once I get my hands on one.
Mastema looks cool. Multi-leg designs are always cool in my book. I really like Wels, too, it looks so sleek.
>>13466264 Wels is badass just for the Weltall connection alone, but even by itself it's pretty sexy. I still prefer Mastema though, but I always liked the mechs with the fuckhuge guns, and even though I prefer faster mechs fat slow ones are fine by me.
>>13466297 Son, I don't play open world games for HUEG MONSTURS when there's literally nothing else in it and the combat is beyond shit. I'd rather go back playing fucking Rogue, the graphics aren't even that bad compared to a Wii U's game.
>>13466327 >But they're not. Look, there's a lot of things Xenoblade can be defended for, the designs, the general concept although it didn't really deliver much, the characters and music, but the combat is such absolute trash I can not imagine anyone defending that. It's literally the worst fucking part of the game.
>>13466345 I for one liked the meter management aspects of the combat.
Plus a lot of the battle music and combat banter was so entertaining to me that I would go out and pick fights with anything that moved, even if I was grossly out of proper level range for a real fight.
>Excited as fuck for it when it was announced to be getting brought over >Followed Jap release closely >Hype built up naturally, but stumbled a little with the story >NoA happened >8-4 happened >Now have no interest whatsoever in the game
>>13475809 Be warned other human beings are often worse at playing their characters than the AI was in Xenoblade and there is no easy way to just take control of them if they don't know what they're doing.
>>13476077 TERA doesn't play like Xenoblade. Tree of Savior doesn't play like Xenoblade. EVE online doesn't play like Xenoblade. MSGO doesn't play like Xenoblade. MapleStory doesn't play like Xenoblade. Dungeon Fighter Online doesn't play like Xenoblade. If you're gonna be a faggot and generalize at least do it right.
>>13476205 >You can also argue that ARPGs are shitty action game clones with numbers thrown in and less depth. >Or how every turn-based game plays the same. Sure you can, you should also know that you're a huge faggot if you mean it though.
>>13477027 It's a bonus that has a chance of activating and lets you use artes without waiting but yeah, it'd be pretty nice if it was a main feature instead. Maybe Takahashi will implement that next game.
>>13478428 Every machine has melee and ranged weapons. Same goes for the characters. If you want to go in with just swords, you can do just that. There are also some videos on youtube that show off the special attacks granted by endgame weaponry, so I'd be cautiously optimistic in regards to cool super slash attacks.
>>13465874 No matter how much money I make, the real pain would be having to spend money on any one of these new consoles including the WiiU.
>>13466074 Religious BS and Nintendo quaking like sinners before an angry god go way back before OoT. Back in the 8 and 16bit days games got censored to hell and back and games like Shin Megami Tensei probably didn't come stateside in large part due to their anti-religious reference policy (which is pretty much one big religious reference). As far as I know, nowadays if its localized by someone other than Nintendo, then its not that big a deal.
>>13466193 I'm sure people want to talk about robots, but the pall of shame and disappointment means that some of us won't even get the game. XBCX was supposed to be the game that convinced me to get a WiiU, now I'm struggling to care. I guess importing and playing the JP version on a JP WiiU is an option, but that's a lot of effort.
Let me explain something to you, you mouth breathing ape. The only reason people continue to MAKE bad games is because idiots like you keep BUYING bad games. Often for idiotic, asinine fanboy reasons.
It's a Takahashi game? So? How does that make it not shit. It doesn't. All you're doing is encouraging a never ending cycle of regurgitation and stagnation all so you can claim to have the privilege of calling your self a fan of whatever, when as a fan, A REAL FAN you should be holding these things to better and higher standards and not simply allowing them to get away with peddling garbage because of one or two names that are on the credits scroll.
It's YOUR fault the industry is in such a sorry shape, it's YOUR fault that it's not getting better and it's YOUR fault that no one wants to look past the filth to see the actual gems.
>>13479305 Stagnation isn't the right word here. Those games are out-there kinda games so they will always fulfill a certain niche interest. This isn't AAA game #XXXXX trying to pander to a mainstream audience and they don't regurgitate the same game over and over.
Xenosaga is kinda a bad game. I'm not him, but I also like it. The gameplay is slow, there are cutscenes that are super drawn out. One is 30 minutes long. The games revel in throw out terms related to mysticism, opera, future tech. That said, its super entertaining for one reason or another. Possibly the blend of mysticism and future tech and remedial philosophy 99. Also, as for Xenosaga, the series did not sell well, which is why the third game is probably the best in terms of not wasting your time and gameplay mechanics. And then there's Xenoblade, which is a huge departure from both gears and saga.
Seriously, did you just come straight from /v/ to spout your inane bullshit without even considering the context? An awful takahashi game is just going to end up like a really weird cult movie that's probably going to be entertaining to those of us who appreciate that sort of thing. This is more like a Suda 51 or SWERY, only less zany and with a bit more mass appeal.
As someone who can't read jack of Japanese - gameplay of X is pretty good that's for sure. Especially exploration part. If you liked Chronicles gameplay that's it. Source - me and my JP import + 100 hours of gameplay which is roughly only 50% of the game explored.
>>13479360 >what are personal opinions also you missed this: >If you liked Chronicles gameplay that's it.
If you disliked Chronicles gameplay - X will not going to change that. Ever. Simple as that - really. Just ignore game and don't waste your time on it. No matter how much shit you'll say about it, that will hardly affect someone's else opinion. However if you liked Chronicles gameplay - X is literally better in every possible way.
>ITT: A BLOO HOO MAH TITTIES This is why I don't play video games anymore. Every single nerd stereotype you see on TV is 100% true. I don't want to end up being that guy with taped up glasses, pocket protectors, and carrying around a body pillow. Absolutely disgusting.
And here I thought that when the game woudl finally get released we would be able to talk without the shitposting /v/ has had in every thread, why did I even think /m/ wouldn't shitpost about it like it did for everything else in the past year is beyond me
>>13466193 >tfw I don't like censorship, or removal of content, but am more hype for skellls, and exploration, and more, better XBC gameplay, than I am bummed about said potential censorship or removal of content I just want to be able to discuss plot, and gameplay, and story, and discuss Skell color schemes, and builds, and inspiration for their builds, but can't because anon won't shut the fuck up about how they don't like censorship or removal of content, or wish there was duel audio, as though it hasn't been made abundantly clear in ever fucking thread about this game that has been created for the last 6 months. I really fear I'm never going to be able to discuss XCX with anon the same way I've been able to discuss XC, and that really bums me out.
>>13480318 actual way of playing seems comfier for me. >new year holidays. >long winter nights >snow falling outside, various new year lights are slowly flashing. >wearing nice knitted socks and sweater >drinking some good tea (maybe with some added jam) with snacks I just hope one of roommate will not get girls over otherwise it'll be noisy as fuck.
>>13480320 you could at least try or something. debunking it all seems pointless, cause your just fishing here. I'll just say for other anons that getting to dolls can take around 30 hours depending on how much side stuff you'll complete. Not sure if there are quests you can miss, probably if you just focus on story you can get to Dolls even faster. Which is pretty small considering that to 100% whole game may require around 300 hours.
>>13480378 no clue, honestly. >>13480380 >56 hours played >beat game >I wanted strong main story when game was advertised that it doesn't have such and it's more horizontal experience way to make an ass out yourself. >>13480388 I should make time stamp or something? If you disliked doing side stuff in Chronicles - you won't like this game. I guess you expected something different, no use bitching about it cause you didn't experience most of game has to offer.
>>13480395 That's an opinion they're entitled to have IF they played the fucking game.
But most of the chucklefucks defending it haven't and I'm plain sick of them spewing the same retarded bullshit over and over again on how it's perfectly fine that they didn't not just neglect to fix any of the problems from the first game but made it even worse.
>>13480413 And your opinion is better than everyone else because you pirated the game and raced to the end while not doing everything else the game offered? Something that was especifically put there because people liked it in the first Blade game? Please, don't you have a /v/ thread to shitpost into oblivion?
>>13480320 Anon, your conversational style is quite similar to those of other comments in this thread, made by anons who've made it quite clear they didn't like the Xenoblade Chronicles combat system, and have no interest in X. That is your opinion to have. Clearly this game is not for you, yet here you are going full >STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE! Your opinion may very well have value to other anons, but it has none to me. I loved Xenoblade Chronicles, as well as its combat system. I have been hype for X since I first saw its first trailer. Clearly you and I have different preferences, and there is nothing wrong with that. Take for instant your complaints. Needing to wait to get Skells makes them special for me. Kind of like getting your first WoW mount IMO. I don't mind running around on foot, because I had no problem doing so in XC, so why is it a problem here? The fuel was a disappointing development when it was announced in the April Direct, but IIRC correctly, it is only used while flying, and I honestly love MonHun, so if I have to hunt down monsters to get fuel, that sounds pretty fun to me. I don't know if anyone has ever told you this, but Captains who explored oceans to discover new lands, as well as explorers who explored new lands explored new landscapes with literally nothing in it, so Mira being a completely open world with enormous creatures and diverse landscapes, and refugees from your own ship, as well as alien forces from the conflict that sets the exodus from Earth into motion, doesn't sound like literally nothing to me. Again, you've made it very clear you didn't like the Xenoblade Chronicles combat system. Again, I loved it. From what I've heard from other anons who liked it, the system in X surpasses the original XC combat system in every way. That excites me. As for more, I only meant it in the sense that I finished XC, and X offers me more opportunity to use the combat system.
>>13480404 >>I wanted strong main story when game was advertised that it doesn't have such and it's more horizontal experience If by "horizontal experience" you mean "grind forever so you can grind better so you can grind more and do inane fetch quests" then yes, there's a great horizontal experience.
>>13480417 The opinion of someone who played the game is more valid than that of someone who hasn't, shitposter.
>>13480413 so you disliked first game, and instead of looking into X you just mindlessly got it, as directly mechanics-wise sequel as possible. Expecting to like it. Yeah, that does sound logical, that's for sure.
Good thing I liked Chronicles, cause X is everything better.
>>13480429 I like doing side quests to know more about lore, world and characters. Sucks to be you tho.
>>13480439 >X did that part much better, the sidequests. I can't read JP, but some were looking like really cool chains with interesting stuff behind them. like time travel one or research facility one >>13480442 >The side quests aside from the few companion ones have no lore, world, and characters you fucking retard. >ignoring Kizuna quests >ignoring Normal quests Gather X of something ususally are ones from board near BLADE HQ. which you can get 20 at the same time. I think they called basic quests or something. But yeah, keep swearing, that will win you your argument. Considering you played 56 hours, I doubt you ever stopped and actually completed even few decent side quests. So stop spouting bullshit, will ya?
>>13480442 >The side quests aside from the few companion ones have no lore, world, and characters you fucking retard. They're MMORPG "go fetch 20 of this item" or "go kill 10 of this enemy" and that's it. By that reasoning the sidequests in Xenoblade Chronicles had no lore either, but we all know what happened after you completed them.
>>13480445 >You sound like mah nigga anon. Nopon drug dealing quest chain in Chronicles probably was my favorite one, even more than some actual story arcs. >>13480456 >few companion ones. judging by your time playing you never got enough hearts to even trigger such quests, not to mention that you probably missed bunch of playable characters like some girl which has some problems with Irina, probably is part of bunch of mercenaries I fought in one of quests stop lying out your ass
The problem with this sentiment is that it doesn't work. The idea of the "vote with your wallet" is the biggest piece of bullshit democratic ideals have ever spouted, because it literally doesn't matter. We live in the age of the hype machine now, and it doesn't matter if YOU know the game is bad, because the masses buy into the hype and get it anyway. It's the same thing with movies, why do you think Transformers always makes so much at the box office?
>>13480472 >Nopon drug dealing quest chain in Chronicles probably was my favorite one, even more than some actual story arcs. Not that anon but that is also my favourite side quest because of how much it progresses and has a pretty interesting story arc
>>13480380 >playtime: 56:29:37 Isn't this game supposed to be bigger than the first one? When I played through the first one for the first time I was still dicking around in Eryth Sea when I hit the 50 hour mark.
>>13480488 yeah, that's why I really looking forward 100% the hell out of X. If I randomly stumbled upon few already seeming good quests, I'm pretty sure there is a LOT of good stuff hidden nicely. >>13480496 Okay, one character. Still missing a quite good bunch of others. Thanks btw, didn't know about her. Completing Lyn and Elma is pretty easy, you max out hearts pretty quickly during story. So I doubt hey count much as exploring lore. I think you even need to do some mandatory just to progress the story >>13480515 It is. After stopping half way thru story and just exploring - I clocked up 100 hours and barely explored 50% of the world. That anon just blazed thru story, and probably got one side character and never looked back or explored continents. And now complains about it.
>>13480515 >bigger Only if you count the ridiculous number of MMORPG-style fetch/bounty quests, or how the empty open world is of course bigger.
The world is cool to look at, THAT I'll admit, but the complete lack of any lore at all is a fucking letdown.
Oh look a giant glowing sphere in the middle of the continent, what could it be? What about the giant mechanical rings half-buried in the desert? Oh wait you'll never know because they're just fucking decorations like every other thing in this shitty world.
>>13480536 >I explored all the fucking continents you shit riding thru one and getting few probes down isn't exploring. I thought I explored main continent completely until I found few caves with quite interesting quests inside them after 80~ hours of riding pass them. nah, anon. Sorry, but you are full of shit and I'm really done talking with you.
>>13480556 Man, this game still impresses me with how big it is and how you can explore it so thoroughly, I wish western games took this approach when making gigantic sandbox games, the last one that really did allow you to go anywhere with no restricitons was GTAV I think
>>13480587 But you admited earlier you only did the bare ones and the ones BLADE gives you to farm materials and money, you just went through the game as fast as you could, why do you insist on keeping this bullshit?I give up you have the game becaus eyou're a drooling retard who can't do quests and need instant gratification, keep on shitposting then
>>13480587 >I explored all the continents fully and you must be some sort of fucking autist if it took you that long, assuming you even played the fucking game. post photo of a map then. you have nothing to be afraid of. Also installing all the probes != exploring the continent.
>>13480600 >But you admited earlier you only did the bare ones and the ones BLADE gives you to farm materials and money, No I didn't you fucking moron, that was the shitposter (you?) making retarded assumptions based on how he thought 56 hours is too short when it's more than enough to do a fuckton of sidequests AND grind in addition to the main story.
>>13480608 4 more were added with DLCs, which are bundled for western release. Don't have much images to share with them tho, cause to get to them they needed me to get further down the story, which I decided not to do yet.
>>13480521 >Some of us are still playing the keep away game as to not spoil too much from the plot/game before the release so no wonder why the actual discussions on mechanics or events are still low right now. I know that anon. I was just listing off things we could be discuss now, or 6 months from now. I'm still waiting for the US release to even get started. I'm just saying that in the future when we've all had a chance to get through the plot, I fear we won't be able to discuss it, because discussions of what I am hoping will be good about the game will still be flooded with shitposters complaining about censorship, or changes. It just bums me out because I loved my experience talking up XC with anon in spite of the occasional JRPG expert that'd show up and knock it, and really wish I'd be able to have a similar experience talking up X, but it seems like a big chnk of XC fans just have it out for X because of censorship, changed content, etc. even though minimally 95% of the game would remain intact.
>>13480521 >playing the keep away game as to not spoil too much from the plot/game before the release That's a noble intention, but everything has already been spoiled about three days after jap release.
Why do you keep feeding the troll? He just changes tactics when no one bites his baits, just wait a month and we will all talk about the game, same happened with Bayo 2,W101 and other impossibly shitposted games
>>13480661 Wow anon, I clocked 70 hours myself but just got to grinding and fighting the big enemies at around the 50 hours mark when there was nothing else left to do, what are you even doing to keep the game going that long?
>>13480668 I'm too sleepy and can't concentrate on sketching stuff what I'm actually should doing now past midnight. >>13480673 no, I don't have any friends with JP Wii U, I was only one stupid enough to burn a lot of cash on importing one. Still worth it tho. Also cause I can't read anything I doubt I'll be much of use in online group anyway cause my equips and builds are probably shit.
>>13480673 forgot to reply on this >what are you even doing to keep the game going that long? exploring stuff and side quests. Going around, finding places and looking for a trouble. Looking for nice views. But that was few months ago, I decided to stop playing till localization so I won't spoil myself much with story. I really love to take my time with games.
>>13480932 shame you don't see it much aside of cutscenes and occasional lucky hit during battle which changes camera to cockpit view for few seconds and recharges all your arts. But I guess playing in that view would be quite impossible.
>>13480413 >>13480388 >If they give it any other comment other than "it's shit" it means they don't know what they're talking about >you can only judge a game from firsthand experience like me! >I'll repeated come into and stay in threads for something I do not like. Autism at it's finest.
>>13481093 Meanwhile, Senran Kagura can have titties (nevermind that one loli that can also get stripped) flaunted everywhere on handhelds without people giving much of a damn. Even got an M rating for it, too. Then again, Takaki does whatever he wants, so he probably got XSeed to bribe NoA execs into keeping quiet.
>>13481185 well, I think the point is that publishers are different. if Senran was published by NoA - it'd be another question entirely. Also I'm pretty sure pilot suits are still in game without any change, they just left them out from video to avoid "media backslash"
>>13481224 someone will still to find something to be offended about if it give him/her enough clicks, so it's no use. amount of missteps during localization is already quite big to make most of core fanbase depressed. I don't expect much from it.
Do you know how much that movie made despite only the lowest common denominator seeing it? You literaly can't beat their numbers, you can't fight it. All you can do is intentionally make something not for them.
I am all hyped for XCX despite a number of disappointments in regards to the localization.
Xenogears is my number 1 game of all time, I LOVED the Xensoaga trilogy, and Xenoblade was an immensely fun game. These games have given me hundreds of hours of fun. So yeah, I am excited for XCX. Like, >>13479298 said, Takashi and Saga made a Xenoblade + mechs game. Even if the mechs aren't designed very cool looking (imo), I'm still very excited!
>>13479347 Glad to hear this anon. Thank you for posting!
>>13481680 >>I am all hyped for XCX despite a number of disappointments in regards to the localization.
I keep hearing this again and again but, since I have been avoiding spoilers, I'm no longer sure what that term means anymore. Is it because the Skells? Or the censoring in certain costumes? Or something else entirely?
>>13482025 No word on dual audio, game size is already huge so adding in another layer of sound might be too much. Skells, BLADE, class name changes, other very useless changes. Possible costumes got censored, but it's not confirmed.
Oh, don't get me wrong. The scenes in which the Gold Face appeared were very important moments but, as a cute Face doing cute Face things, it never really show off in an action cutscene to truly display what a top-of-the-line Face could do.
