***READ THE GUIDE***
For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're expereinced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Well fuck I finished making the image.
I guess we can use it in the next thread.
Hlj has them. The feddie ones like gm cannon go fast while others stay for a long time
>tfw a masking job fulfills the self-imposed minimum-85%-satisfaction threshold but you know it could be better so you're stuck between moving forward or redoing the thing
I hate my OCD sometimes.
Never did get around to finishing pirate nadleeh
Looks like something out of LBX
Pink head with mohawk.
Also, the picture exaggerates the texture too much here. The surface is properly thin and smooth to the naked eye.
Will need some touching up later, but for now I'm satisfied.
>The surface is properly thin and smooth to the naked eye
Good coat looks good at any magnification. Yours is shit.
Running from reality is not a good strategy if you want to get better at this.
Showing it to a few friends now. They can't see the surface problems either.
Could be just this phone camera, I guess.
I don't even know why I'm trying to convince you, dear stranger on the interweb
This man is a genius
>the face is so ugly
>I know, I'll just hide it!
Anybody know any good hardware store spray can top coats besides Krylon? Preferably ones I can find in Australia.
I can't afford teeny tiny Tamiya cans for 15 dollars a pop. They just don't last long enough.
Orange peel happens when the paint dries before it can level off, which is usually caused by spraying from too far away or spraying on a day with too low humidity. Hardware store paint cans also tend to spit out too much paint which makes it hard to avoid, although you can fix any orange peel if you're willing to spend some time wet sanding it smooth.
This photo's just blurred.
I'm guessing you're spraying with a brand that has particles too big for model kits, probably meant for painting walls or something. You ought to get paint from hobby shops, not DIY stores.
>covering the face
so I have like 4 unbuilt frame arms. I'm thinking I should probably build them to figure out what extra parts I have that I could attach to my incoming fags.
Whatever gets you thru the night anon, just know if you keep blaming magic photon disrupting cameras you'll never immprove
I feel like those uncut nubs are scraping away at the side of my fingernail. Whoever made that should find another calling.
Man I'm really getting shit on regarding that paint. Not unfairly, either, since it does look like shit in the pic in >>13478793
>>13479203 isn't me, by the way.
Anyway, my friends all agree that if anything, the overflow is what should be bothering me, not the surface.
That, or perhaps our eyesight is going senile.
If alot of people are saying something negative its not always a bad thing. Whatever primer you used wasnt sanded down right or not thinned which gives off a frosted look
This is coming from a guy who got his ass reamed alot about painting from the anons here
Thanks for the encouragement, but I really don't know what to say, since I can't take a better picture apparently (been trying for quite a while now).
It really looks good to me, and in my initial post I mentioned being bothered by the overflow only.
I'm not going to redo the product itself just because a picture of it came out wrong, anyway.
Come to me, HGUC Sinanju! You shall be in my hands soon!
I already have a HGUC GM Cannon II from Amazon; I just ordered an extra from HLJ in case I need spare parts/screw up the build and because I derped pretty hardcore
Update us when you get to it, it's an interesting looking build and the design leads itself to plenty of customizing.
So I'm pretty new to Gunpla (made a few last year, nothing since) and am thinking of getting more into making them. Maybe getting to the point where I can try and kitbash my Gundam Breaker MS.
I also saw the new campaign on Gundaminfo
which piqued my interest because I was planning on buying some of the iron blooded orphans gunplaand wanted to know what online stores will carry the serial cards inside the gunpla boxes. May as well try and get maximum value
There's a catch with that. The cards are region locked, so the Japanese sellers like HLJ, Amiami and all have Japan-only cards. So unless you have a local store, or buy from certain US retailers, you can't enter sadly. I don't know of the US sellers, someone else can fill you in on that. Good luck on the rest of your Gunpla voyage, be sure to READ THE GUIDE and test on spare parts.
if it's for an oob build with a top coat i'd just save it, except if it was a hyaku shiki with a gloss coat. are you going to put it on a shelf or desk? anyways they're cheap so if you want to try it out it won't bite you in the ass
Do you really feel the need to post this shit just about every thread? We get your beloved SD kits look like crap but this is such old news, if you don't like it then fix it up or something and post the results but please kindly fuck off if you're literally just going to complain every 5 seconds about
Fags like you who bitch about a single on-topic image in a thread that supports hundreds of images are a bigger problem than me complaining the EX Standard kits look like shit.
Could you be any more of a faggot?
I'm not a fan of regular SDs like NXEDGE, EX Standard and whatever. I like the Legend BB cutesy ones. They're cute. The gimmicks are also better.
Expect to have to do painting though.
Nah, it's the SD babbies like you that have to constantly remind everyone that their models don't look good oob and complain that the EX's look like shit. I haven't seen a decent looking SD from this thread yet but what I do see is constant bitching about the new products and when I do see someone post an SD it's almost always either the same pictures of that Knight or the unpainted Gurren.
I wouldn't mind if there was any actual discussion besides
>Are SD's gud
>EX so shit
>Super srs robits
Bandai should really have some sort of submit and vote system for MGs and RGs.... maybe PGs
I mean, okay, then we'd all demand PG Super Fumina, but at least we'd get what we want.
They run polls all the time, the polls just aren't a a garuntee of it getting a kit and are more to just help them see what might be popular. The reason its not directly done for releases is because polls like that are really easy to abuse and a person voting for a design isn't a garuntee that they will buy it as a kit.
It might be a while; my backlog is fucking huge and I'm working on a HGUC Zeek I at the moment (though it's been slow because of work and lack of energy).
Now this might convince me to bump it up in the queue...
>browsing doll accessories
I've been looking at print samples of various (budget) reprap based printers and they look pretty good. There's very little banding and hard surface objects (lots of flat planes) look very good. With some deluxe putty or primer with filler it would probably look perfect. There's also a polystyrene filament that can be used with printers that can use ABS.
Close, but no cigar. Some parts are rusted, some are scuffed, some are both, some are nothing. Your weathering tactics are not bad, but they're haphazard. Work on thinking about how scuffs and rust actually form and flow.
Guess who just ordered the P-Bandai G-Self Reflector pack?
I can't get over how hilarious it is that Super Fumina's face is so horrible that there are people willing to scratchbuild hair parts to hide it because it's easier than attempting to fix the face.
G-Reco is my latest Gundam series. I've seen everything in the UC and Turn A Gundam. G-Reco is by far my favorite!
>I know you usually get shit, but I legit want to see this done as it is my favorite G-Self type
Sure but you know what to expect from Banrise qualtiy HG G-Self.
And if you don't know, not a lot of poseability.
I will! Dw!
I'll tell you everything I can within reason and add my personal oppinions. I have a history of posting in these threads with zero disappointment!
Pic related. It's my photo quality for those who missed it!
Thanks! However I have no new kit at the moment but I will soon! If you have requests or questions about any G-Reco kits don't hesitate to ask.
I actually have an issue with the action base plug it's stuck in my G-Lucifer's stand-connector and I don't know how to get it out. It's in the picture.
As much as you're a a tremendous attention whore, your snapbuilding skills are getting a little better. Clean up your nubs better, though. A simple cuticle cutter would do you nicely. You could also use a ballpoint pen to line.
also get banned and fuck off
My favorite one too build? That's tough but it might have been the Mack Knife. I liked it's simplicity and engineering. Just not waist armor, it comes off easily.
The best to display for me is the Gaeon but that is biased because it's my favorite suit. Here is one model I haven't changed the pose on since I left it this way months ago.
>wearing fingerless gloves
Show of hands, who wears gloves at all when building?
>Hundreds of posts about the same thing over and over again isn't spamming.
I only do it when I'm painting so I don't leave marks all over the pieces, but I might consider it now that you've brought it up. These big meaty claws of mine keep sweating up everything
I wish we could. At least /toy/'s /gpg/ is safe because they've got a janitor cleaning up.
We full armored core now
So I just found this poor bastard in an old box of gundam models at my parents house.
I vaguely remember me and my brother wanting to "battle damage" our kits, found a comic shop near our house and bought like 10 Guncannons/Guntanks for £4 each.
RIP those poor old HGs ;_;7
No, all the limbs are from the Zabanya.
Actually I plan on getting at least the black gundem marker for my elf bullock(pictured). I read a youtube video where someone used an exacto-knife to cut a fine groove along the edges of a section so the paint doesnt run. I plan to do this thing to the black lines you see, also there's a couple on the legs.
>I see. So you only plan to do it to your elf bullock? Are you not going to panel line the others?
It's not a panel line. It's a detail.
>Why would the paint run? It should just run along the panel line and any excess is just cleaned with a cotton bud and isopropanol
Don't know. Never used a gundem marker before.
Something like this, because it was the best I coul find in my city. Pretty good so far but am thinking of getting a tank for it.
i got my babby zeong all cemented separated and ready for paint :^)
Heres my ground unit so far. Didnt know what to do for the sniper, so i added the shield and repurposed funnel launchers to be recon scouts, just glued to the back. Gonna sand down my gouf next
i tried to paint it a year ago but failed
Oh haha sorry
Yea thats what i meant, forgot the name of it but yea theres no newtypes on the team.
Dude INCOMs are wire based as in they're always connected to the mobile suit with a long cable and are exclusively used in space. You basically can't really have multiple autonomous/remotecontrol drones on the ground without either being a newtype or reducing them to just floating, immobile sensors.
I think I'm autistic, but I have a hard time buying kits that don't have head vulcans. Even when they do if they're not in the right spot I still might not even get it.
Any Zeek Suit (Exception for Kampfer)
Most Titan Suits because gunpod is on the left side of the head, and not the right.
Gundam's I really like, but the head vulcans are wrong for me (Example HeavyArms)
Why can't they just be UAVs, like the Cypher? Which is based on a real life cold war project. I mean, there are giant fucking humanoid mechas, why not tiny unmanned cameras with tiny helicopter blades that receive simple commands via laser communication.
The main problem with drones at any range that aren't controlled by Newtype hax is the fact that there's no way to communicate with them when minovsky particles are involved; which is to say all the damn time.
Minovsky particles are emitted from the reactors that mobile suits use and basically fuck up all low-wavelength communication, so everything is based off of either laser comms or visual sensors. I don't think funnel sensors make much sense in the UC universe but just do what you want.
UAV's are controlled by radio waves which get scrambled by minovskybullshit, that's why guided ballistic missiles are never used.
Fuck, didn't read past UAV.
If it is controlled by laser comms then it should work but UC lasers seem to be rather short range and at that point the entire purpose would be pretty useless.
Also Cypher seems to rely on radio waves but I might be misinterpreting what I'm reading.
Fuck i forgot about radiowaves being jammed. Fuck it theyre defense pods now, if an enemy gets close, it fires a flashbang
i cant really think of anyway to make a sniper custom without powerhaxing
Well yes Cypher does rely on radio waves but that's because Minovsky particles don't exist in the real world. It's reasonable to assume the Zeeks would have put in a work around, or designed it from the ground up to work on laser comms instead. And the Cypher was just a popular media reference point, not the be all end all end product.
And they could be used for spotting around corners, over cover or other places an MS might hide, allowing you to shoot through things you can't see through cause you can see what the UAV sees. It's important for a sniper to have at least some grasp of what's going on around him.
Has anyone had any success with using 1/6 scale weapons with master grades?
I know pic related probably wouldn't work due to the canted grip
Legend BBs look great out of the box
Also I'm sorry that my pictures are memorable enough to you for you to be triggered by them
I'm pretty sure incoms only work in low gravity environments since the entire mechanism for changing direction and movement is designed around leaving anchor points that the main unit would follow to return to its docking port. This only reliably works in space where the anchors can remain in their relative positions without having to resort to thrusters to keep them aloft.
This might work, the only problem I see with it is that enemy MS's would probably detect them pretty easily since optical sensors are beefed to hell in the UC timeline.
Also, wasn't the role of short range detection delegated to mobile sonar stations like the type 74? Sonar seems to be able to monitor a greater area of influence as compared to simple cameras mounted on drones.
You haven't been paying attention, the HG doesn't even have stickers for those
This may not be much of an improvement but technically it is one
Painting is the way to go, but still, yellow sticker > plain white part
How is this shitposting, I mean I know I'm not giving detailed reviews of the kits but jeez
Also the filename is what popped out of my phone, so I don't know what you're going for there
I'm pretty sure this guy is actually shitposter because no one could be this autistic to bitch about maybe ten posts about SDs combined in the last twenty threads. Or people linking to reviews of Super Fumina, a kit released three days ago. This has to be some kind of trolling.
>"Everyone is a shitposter!"
There's maybe one or two dedicated shitposters, then there are people that either try to incriminate the shitposters by actually shitposting themselves and then there are people that are retarded enough to reply specifically to the shitposter.
And then there are people that have different opinions than you, but we'll just lump them into the shitposter category since other people can't possibly think differently than you.
Attack on Titan colours?
Alright Grimoirefags, I know you're here. What colors did you use to paint the knife? I only have the starter kit markers and the fine point black, grey, and red-brown, so I need some ideas on what to get for it. Also, it's a great kit I want more.
I left mine white. I imagine it's some kind of future ceramic knife. You could also just spray paint it matte gray, like how knives usually are. Even a very dark gray, giving it a subdued combat knife look.
Hey guys, I just finished my RX-78-2 MG 3.0. I saw in the guide that there's an option to put an LED in so that the eyes light up. Being my first time working with LEDs or anything, can anyone link me to the specific LED I need for it?
Just lining it for now, but since the knife is all white I feel I have to at least paint the hilt.
Dark gray for the handle sounds good, as for the gunmetal silver, any particular markers that would work best for it, or does the GM-05 look fine?
Anyone have a good guide on doing some minor weathering or battle damage on a kit? I wnt my Barbatos to look a little less pristine but not chopped up like pic related
I'll be in Japan in 2 weeks, i'd rather get a Hi Nu ver ka though (will probably take up most of my bagspace if not i'll get a mg gyan too), the Zeta is somewhat tempting but my old rg zeta broke and fell to pieces. 3400 yen is a bit fucking rich too for a colourswap with extra set of stickers. Maybe if it had unique weapons or parts. I don't think the shoulders are unique
the delta is cool but edgy.
does everything red and black have to be edgy to you faggots?
Being a zeta fan i really wanna get the z3 to add to my collection. Got a c1 sentinel ver and red zeta. The delta is really nice looking too, its in my favorite colors so maybe
Some people think its edgy since its associated with "edgy" characters like dante or shadow
what do people use to cut complex design cut outs like pic related? Photo etching?
You've made a pact with Plamor; in exchange for the creation of any gunpla/plamo kit, you must choose your favorite model out of your collection and its original design is erased entirely from existence.
What's your deal look like?
I'm curious, has anyone here attempted a mod of the RG 00 Raiser to the RG 00 Seven Sword/G?
If so, do you have any feedback, tips, or things to watch out for?
This rifle is sex. Can't wait to start painting this guy
Took me a while, but I finally built my first MG.
How can I git gud?
Also plan to get a Tamiya hg airbrush as my first airbrush,
I just put together my first Gunpla. No painting or anything yet, I need to read up on that some more.
But I'm looking at it on my desk and I already want to build a squad of them
Have I made a mistake?
>A PG Big Zam
>In exchange for the Dijeh
Shit. I'd want a PG Zam but likely would never be able to afford one. Others would and the Dijeh was a one-off suit from like two episodes in Zeta, but it's my MS-waifu.
If the Chaika would still exist without the Dijeh, then I'd sign that pact right away.
>Want MG Asshimar
>Must erase HG Asshimar and Asshimar all together from existance
How the fuck does this work then?
no there wasn't any noticeable difference, the construction was identical just with larger parts. The only exceptions were the Infinite Justice and Savior Gundam which had different joint systems and also a BEECRAFT sculpt which differed from the other straight Okawara lineart kits.
it's exactly the same situation now with 1/100 Orphans line, it is an upscale of the 1/44.
The 00 1/100 line had truly different construction and engineering from their 1/144 kits.
>Godhands' anthropomorphism gets a nendo
>It's more expensive than the nippers themselves
I need to get some when they're back in stock, fuck paying scalper prices.
>back in stock
Nigga it's not even out yet, it's on preorder for March
It looks pretty bad zoomed in but the details are so small it looks good enough in person
Either way I'm really glad I did this, these gray bits are one of my favorite things on Barbatos' head
There's an idea and a half
Anything I do horribly on this isn't a big deal since it's so cheap I can get another later, this is my first real painting project
Real as in more than one piece with paint on it
thanks senpai, you made my day, I just ordered it.
Hobby point (3 branch, check their site), orbe station (jurong east mrt, check their facebook for location), hobby art gallery (2 brance, also fb). Main ones I can think of.
Prices are ok for HG as it's about the same or cheaper as online + shipping (barbatos is ~$15) but MG gets much higher (MG dom 4000yen is $60+, MG Gundam 3.0 is $70+)
The higher the yen price, the more mark up there will be so unless you really can't order online locally it probably isn't worth it. PG gundam 12000yen is $175)
>see this post
>oh shit forgot to paint the grey markings
>end up fucking up the sticker for the eyes
>spend an hour trying to make the eyes with gundam markers
this is what happens when i try to build gunpla past my bedtime, needless to say it looks alright I suppose, should of used a paint brush
Aight, I'm gonna paint it gold then.
Honestly, it would be alright to paint just the V-fin. The Barbados V-fin is so fucking massive that it clashes more being plain yellow. You could just have the gold not be insanely shiny.
How does gold look with a semigloss topcoat?
rub it with your fingernails, it'll change back to the original color
your build looks pretty good to me, but I literally just finished my 2nd kit yesterday, starting my 3rd today
You went the Zaku army addiction route, I went down the GM army addiction route. Such is life.
Hey it looks great, thanks anons
Ive never tried semi gloss, I only have plain top coat, but maybe I should experiment more, its the spirit of gunpla after all.
>Want a RG Kampfer
>Kampfer is my favorite
>Left in paradox of deleting my favorite for getting my favorite
C-can I just erase the Kampfer amazing and the the RG kampfer anyways?
It's a really solid kit in my opinion, but I may be a little biased since it's my favorite. It can handle weight pretty well, decent bend in the elbow, somewhat limited knee due to the design, same with the ankles and it's deceptively light due to all the all hollow plastic. I'd honestly rate it about 7/10, it's pretty average, same goes for the Kampfer amazing except it has more pegs to mount stuff on so it;s a little more customization friendly. But god damn do both of them have weapons for days
Seeing this pic made me want to get it
That sounds alright to me, might make kampfer my next kit
Do it, everyone deserves to have a Kampfer in their collection
Yeah, I realised the only zeon suits I own are gyan, gouf, zaku and chars zaku, so having a kampfer should do nicely for something to go against the feddies
I hear they require screws
Is it possible to put two Mega ride Launchers on the Mega Shiki?
what the fuck who doesnt own basic tools
So what's so bad about building Vegan kits from the Age line? Recently watched Flit's arc and I actually liked the enemy MS designs enough to pick a some up, maybe
Poor engineering on the hips, so they barely rotate. The waist design also adds to this problem. Also, tiny feet and huge tails fucking with balance.
You basically need an action base.
Well, you could also use the tails as a third leg.
I also thought a lot of Vagan kits are too busy with the wings and shit which add to how difficult it already is to pose them. I would get one, like a Baqto or Zedas just to try out, because they're probably really cheap by now(10 dollar range). That way you have no regrets.
But they're just disappointing compared to the Feddie ones.
Maybe not "best", but here is a top 10 favorite MG poll result from a few years ago.
Grimoire and Genoace are fucking great grunt suits.
Main Gundams that people consider well made are 00 Raiser, Build Burning, Age-1 and recently Barbatos.
I know some people enjoyed the Graze, but I didn't see the reaction to it's articulation, so I can't comment on that.
>I went down the GM army addiction route.
the only bad thing about the GM is that quite a few of them have very standard weaponry so you gotta go outside the box for customs which is bad if you're like me and aren't that imaginative
One thing i like to do is look at msv customs or what people build in magazines or gbwc stuff then think about how it would work for both gbwc and gunpla battle. Kinda long process but helps
anyhole is a holelooks like a tomboy but my point stands correct
