>The Japanese Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization (BPO) watchdog group has recently published viewer complaints for October, one most likely stemming from a scene in Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. The complaint refers to an anime where "several nonresistant prisoners and enemy soldiers are gunned down by the young male protagonist." It does not directly name Iron-Blooded Orphans in the complaint.
> The grievance also stated concern of children watching the mecha anime, expressing worry over the potential influence that such a violent scene could have of child viewers.
>"If you look at the title, one would immediately think of this as a children's show and that many children would be watching."
Yeah? They only intervene on primetime and kids' shows. They made a couple of precure or whatever-type shows change some lewd outfits and I assume GIBO airs in primetime like other gundams.
That scene was nothing compared to shit mecha did in the 80's.
>"If you look at the title, one would immediately think of this as a children's show and that many children would be watching."
>Gundam Tekketsu no Orphan
>Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans
Yes, nothing says kids show like blood and orphan in the title.
Because "Iron-Blooded Orphans" totally sounds like a kids show
Well Mika is a monster so it isn't that surprising.
So the kids who got sniped by trained soldiers, the scumbag who went out of his way to engage combatants, the faglord attempting bribery, the bunch of cowards attempting to flee using children as scapegoats and had the gall to return when the fighting was done, and the shitbag who tried to sell out the orphans, didn't make the radar. It's okay to go out of way be a murderer, as long as you're involved in an authority, or it's okay to be a lying scumbag as long as people don't die within your sight or reach. These are "within ethics".
But when children in the lawless underground of society turn on their captors after having had enough, there's a complaint. What did they expect? The first and last thing First Group leader did upon Orga opening negotiating terms was to try and rush Orga!
And they let the rest of the prisoners go, too, so "several" is really stretching it there.
Oh yes, and nothing speaks "kids show" like homo erotic undertones and fujoshi panda-ring
What the fuck did these people expect when they read "Iron-Blooded Orphans"? The farm episode to be 90% of the show?
VF, honestly I liked you a whole lot more when you actually talked about serious things, and recommendations, and stuff like that instead of solely shit/funposting.
And I know if I get a response, it'll be something along the lines of "-Signed, Mari Okada" but still, just something I thought you should know.
There are plenty of orphan stories for kids though.
I still do, when given the opportunity, but a lot of the times there's genuinely no reason to take things so seriously.
What's funny is that when I do say something serious, people tend to assume I'm just fucking around and acting like a crazy old guy on the internet again.
So, in the end, it's a matter of selective vision. You see what you want to see. Am I just being a crazy old guy on the internet, or do I really just want more AGE?
That's for you to decide.
Signed, Mari Okada.
>But when children in the lawless underground of society turn on their captors after having had enough, there's a complaint. What did they expect? The first and last thing First Group leader did upon Orga opening negotiating terms was to try and rush Orga!
Remember, High School of the Dead is shocking to these people because it has teenagers using guns and operating cars without a license. Look what Shino goes through in SWO. Killed a robber with his own gun to protect her mother, and everyone treats her like a monster.
To the Japanese, children are supposed to be incapable of killing and dependent on adults.
>What the fuck did these people expect when they read "Iron-Blooded Orphans"? The farm episode to be 90% of the show?
If that were the case then Japan's modern otaku would eat it up.
>To the Japanese, children are supposed to be incapable of killing and dependent on adults.
Well that should be true for any place and when kids are killing people it is pretty shocking
But when it's Gundam, where kids killing people is a staple
You have no idea how dumb of a grin I have on my face right now.
You fucking autists don't know about kids books and shows about poor children who suffer, do you? Really? How can you judge the name if you have no idea what does it say no a Nip ear? Maybe it sounds like something fit for kids.
An yet no one complains about kids shooting up their parents in 00, or mobile suits gunning them down in droves from the same series.
Lemme guess, it's because they're not Japanese (by nationality), right?
>At least they use non-twisted logic.
I'd much rather have violence in my entertainment then pointless sex pandering. Besides, it has been proven that early exposure to sex fucks with a child's development where as violence, unless it's gore, has zero negative effect.
Yeah, but it's not quite the same as executing people in cold blood.
Hell, you guys think this is why we get protags like Kira and Kio? Or how Shinn is supposed to be evil for killing enemy soldiers?
I'd give it a 7/10. It didn't really bore me at any point, and it was pretty enjoyable, although some parts made me actually cringe.
7/10 would put it about on par with Victory or Destiny in my book, though, so take it as you will.
It's writing goes to shit towards the end, the pacing is bad, way to many characters never get any development, but its greatest flaw is really just that it is overall very dull.
Maybe if you weren't a worthless NEET and had gone to university I wouldn't have to spoon feed you such a universally accepted fact. Besides, why should I waste time linking to a book when you provided no source of your own to back your point? Clearly the facts are irrelevant to you to begin with.
Writing went to shit when they decided Asemu needed to whine about how he wasn't an X-Rounder.
Nothing Kio's Arc did was as bad as the X-Rounder Helmet arc.
Griard Spriggan was a masterpiece in comparison.
No way, Anonymous.
Companies would never pay people to cause up a stink so that they can give their products more exposure.
You just go out there and enjoy your Pepsi.
Whichever you prefer.
Don't have to start a WAR over it, you know.
Yes, animu sex pandering is shit. I mean at least they don't say watching erotical content can harm people in any way but blood and gore is OK somehow.
>it has been proven that early exposure to sex fucks with a child's development
>there will never be an actual Pepsi-Coke War
>You just go out there and enjoy your Pepsi.
>Whichever you prefer.
>Don't have to start a WAR over it, you know.
Fuck soda altogether. Milk is the way to go.
>It's full of vitamins
>Rich in calcium and protein
>Can be used in baking
>Can mix things into it to make it even more delicious
>Doesn't dehydrate you like soda does
No no, Jesus would put them in robots, then have them RUN INTO the bullets/beams/swords.
>universally accepted fact
It isn't *universally* accepted though. Also are you from USA? It was universally accepted there that niggers can't piss in the same toilets as whites not so long ago. Kids are naturally interested in sex, only ignorant and hypocritical people will mix this and what everyone do when they play hospital with rape and sexual abuse.
You're both wrong, you put them in the ships.
The problem isn't that there's bad shit happening, they're talking specifically just about the young protagonist--and therefore someone the kids will unconsciously take as a role model--committing war crimes.
Whatever gritty stuff happens doesn't matter so much as long as it's not the main character doing it.
Still kind of laughable for a variety of reasons, one that while kids are impressionable they're also capable of thinking for themselves.
Fuck me, Tommy.
Where'd you learn all of that?
It is possibly the worst Gundam series I've seen, in laziness and poor scripting. More, it's very ugly-looking. I would argue that Destiny is worse, but I like Destiny's designs better (marginally) until all the recycled footage.
I also liked the war in Destiny marginally better, too.
Japan wasn't a nazi nation, and the boy scouts was founded for the same reason as the hitler youth group, they are exactly like american and german kids in that they were pulled into a war by circumstances and propaganda.
I liked AGE better then G-RECO. its just that Vegans were such poor villians and really story wasn't meant to be over 3 generations long. But Flit was awesome and Asemu was cool before he became a gay pirate, even kio was alright until he became kira.
>at least i could tell were they were going
I mean if the only place to go is down, sure, Ruri.
sempai notcied me,
but really kato, a destination is better than no goal at all ant watching reco gives you that feeling. Do you really think reco is good though? Just asking...
Reco bakas always say this but the truth is the fault lies with writer if he isn't making things easy to follow, especially if his intended target is kids. AGE does a better job at being a Kids show
Eh, it was better than AGE.
I knew why they were fighting. i just didn't think they were very competent outside of the megafauna who were really just carried by Bell and his OP gself packs. the spacenoids just had no business being there. its would have better to have been ameria vs gowandan. or rolled but venus and towasgawa into one. its messy, thats all. and messy=not good
Is there no IBO general at the moment? Oh well. Instead of making a new thread, I'm just gonna post this here...
Anyway. It might be based on the fact that he's blonde, and that his bad attitude makes me think he might defect Tekkadan eventually... But what if Eugene becomes our Char?
I dunno. Maybe he's not smart enough, or a good enough pilot. But I've just got a wild hunch.
>People are too stupid to pick stuff up from context
>Need to explain the same term every single episode in case they forgot
Did you know that the Calamity War was 300 years ago? Did you also know that the Alaya-Vijnana system is a really old and dangerous implant to increase pilot performance with mobile suits?
Oh doesn't matter, let me remind you again. Every single episode.
>what if Eugene becomes our Char?
No way. He comes off as one of those undying loyalty type of characters
>If you look at the title, one would immediately think of this as a children's show and that many children would be watching."
I thought we passed the point where just because it has "Gundam" in it doesn't mean it's for kids only
wait, let me rephrase that
THIS IS NO KIDS SHOW BOY! NO KIDS SHOW
although in the protestor's defence it does air at 5pm sunday, a time slot usually reserved for more family friendly shows, so the network does have some responsibility there
>"Nah Destiny's definitely the worst entry in the franchise guys."
>"Sure, ZZ, F91, Wing, G-Saviour, AGE, Build Fighters Try, and G-Reco exist, but nah, Destiny's the worst. Not one of the worst, but the absolute worst. Trust me."
First ten episodes are garbage, after they get the Titus things pick up, and stay up until the last half of Kios arc. Then everything goes downhill fast.
Pretty great ride up until then, worth a watch. Woolf best CO, Asemu most supa piroto.
Major tonal issues, some unlikeable characters (and Bright and Yazan getting treated like shit), not too important to UC and (wave) rides off of Zeta's success while taking too long to close up the loose ends from Zeta. Weakest of original 3 but brought some great designs, fights and more.
Beautiful animation, fights are well-done, mecha designs are great and continues UC without ridiculous power level shit. Plot feels a little wonky due to pacing and characters are bland but nothing out of the ordinary. Better than CCA and everyone would agree if it weren't for Nu and Beyond the Time, you know it's true.
Can't really defend this as much but I wouldn't compare it with Destiny. Does a lot of things I don't agree with but nothing horribly offensive.
You only have to sit through an hour or two of shitty animation. Still better than GSD.
I'd say slightly less shit than Wing because the battles were interesting but the story was more of a mess. At some point I gave up and watched the pretty colors move while putting minimal investment in anything else. From a more objective standpoint it sits below Wing but still above GSD. Getting closer, however.
>Build Fighters Try
It's what everybody expected GBF S1 to be. It is lifeless and bland for the most part. However, it's also a show about Gunpla, not Gundams. It's a show about a game. Doesn't mean it gets a free pass but with half the team on G-Reco and combined with jack-all preparation and more likely than not some corporate influence, what do you expect? It's your average shounen. Biggest insult was the really, really bad fights. Luckily it ended quickly so everybody could move on. Probably around AGE level.
Great designs, interesting addition to UC, likeable characters. Suffers from moderate Tomino (but some would say that adds to its charm) and really could have served to be a liiiiitle more deliberate with the overarching message.
Gundam SEED Destiny
Takes one of the most lackluster, shit-looking entries to the entire franchise and adds 52 episodes on to it. Not surprisingly, everything gets worse. Re-used animation on already-awful early digital technology shows age worse than 0079. The characters are thoroughly unlikeable with teen drama added to attract more viewers. Plot elements and designs are "borrowed" from UC like never before or since. I hate the fact that I wasted my life watching it just so I could reply to arguments on 4chan.
Mecha: Shit with few exceptions
Overall rating: WHY
I kinda like Bright in ZZ as it is him realising "these random newtypes I find seem to do best when they find their own way, so fuck it." The series had slowly lead him up to believing in newtypes more and he is one of the few characters to learn that you can't abuse the power but let the new evolution lead
I understand but he's a captain of a ship, they're teenagers. Half the time it wasn't even Jewdough pulling shit, the other kids caused just as much trouble. It was enough that he let them on the ship when they're planning on stealing the Gundam and shit but once they're there he has to keep them from going crazy. Anyway, I'm more mad about the chickens than Bask Ohm slugging him is what I'm saying.
He could have done with hitting them a few times but it wasn't completely out of character seeing how he changed over time. I really liked the scene where he is just talking with the kids (mainly that Judau sticks to stuff once he started) and floating around the hanger, it feels like he gets them
He's a driving force at least
Wow guys that's not even the latest version
Nah BPO gets complaints all the time. The dumbest one was anime with satirical message about Japanese censorship getting complains that it's too obscene. In Japan everything is a taboo from offensive satire like South Park to underage drinking and smoking or calling sexual organ with its actual name.
>More like i can't understand basic story structure of show, not tell because i am a filthy gaijins who loved to be spoonfed.
>Now watch my agony as I insults the director to make me feel good about my incompetency and defects.
>being this new
You just think everything goes unregulated in Japan?
Sorry but no TV anime ever will get almost entire Japan to watch it. You can't do that even with national emergency news. Nevertheless IBO had really bad start but it's rising.
>"Iron Blooded Orphans" sounds like a children's show
>they censor penises
>during the flood, entire media strains of movies, video games, etc.. had to censor or change themselves in order not to offend anyone (some didn't bother getting released)
>constantly complaining about violence or how bullying presents itself in a show
Basically, the PTA saw Bo7 and co. comically beating/abusing each other as something that the kids would wind up imitating. Never mind that comedies involve slapstick in the first place. If they ever read the manga (which has blood), they'd have heart attacks.
Or Nobody's Boy, for that matter.
Get Hino as far away from the production as possible, and then we'll talk.
>Great designs, interesting addition to UC, likeable characters. Suffers from moderate Tomino (but some would say that adds to its charm)
Only a troll or a brain-dead grecobaby would say that exacerbating Tomino's usual flaws to such a degree adds "charm" to a series.
People are actually suggesting Wing is worse than AGE or Destiny? The fuck happened to /m/? AGE, the show that never had time to develop anything due to switching main characters every 15 episodes and turned into the biggest understanding fest in the franchise? Destiny? The show that used so much stock footage that suits transformed into other suits? Destiny? The show that assassinated every character from the original series? Destiny? The show that created rehashed suits like IJ, Strike Freedom and Legend so that they can use stock footage for the fights?
Anyone suggesting any show in the franchise below Destiny is trolling or has fucked up priorities.
Wing is one of the better entries in the series and at least has a cohesive plot unlike the objectively bad entries.
>More like i can't understand basic story structure of show, not tell because i am a filthy gaijins who loved to be spoonfed.
G-reco's problem was literally that it was "tell, not show".
>Wing is one of the better entries in the series and at least has a cohesive plot unlike the objectively bad entries.
Can't you tripfags take your inside jokes elsewhere, you have the entire internet to build up your rep
>Controversy is good publicity
>sales figures of IBO jump
As expected of the mistress
>Great MS designs
>Decent main cast
>Understandable plot that is relevant even today
>Only really flaws are a few under developed characters and stock footage
Will Sunrise ever achieve the level of maximum overrustle they did with Cross Ange again?
Hilarious in parts.
Depends on your enjoyment of trash
It's why I loved it.
I liked it because it managed to one up itself every episode. Like it'd do something absolutely fucking ridiculous then you'd think "Well fuck, that's it huh?" then next week they'd just do something even more stupid.
Whether it was good or not is debatable, but I at least had fun watching it.
Because that isn't there for Zeta, Wing, SEED, 00, or Unicorn, which are far more popular and thus have more people thinking they're the best. It's just the creator's personal opinion, and it's completely useless information.
>>More like i can't understand basic story structure of show
>following a basic story structure
First half had a generally original WOMAN IN PRISON with mechs vibe which was the whole reason anyone gave the show the time of day and then it turned to a generic shitty mecha plot.
Not even the stupid fans of this shit defend the Dragon arc, you are a first.
>First half had a generally original WOMAN IN PRISON
>then it turned to a generic shitty mecha plot.
Which was well done
>Not even the stupid fans of this shit defend the Dragon arc, you are a first.
You're new to /m/, I can tell.
Well sure it just sucked less than the rest of the show
>Which was well done
No aspect of this show is well-done
>You're new to /m/, I can tell.
Most of them hates it because of Fukuda, its only relevance is showing that GSD was his fault since both shows have the exact same problems in them.
>Well sure it just sucked less than the rest of the show
Except it did not.
>No aspect of this show is well-done
World building, character development, action, music (the first OP and ED were horrid).
You guys stop bickering and have a Beargguy
IBO confirmed for most dangerous.
Around 30% of adults cannot digest milk because they de-evolved themselves thanks to overabundance of food that's easier to digest.
Back in the beginning of human society, when famine struck, you either digested milk (because grass was still there and so were the cows that ate it), or you died. If you couldn't digest milk and died, you did not have children, so only genes of those who could digest milk were passed on. But in today's societies children who don't like milk are not forced to drink it, and milk's nutrition is replaced by pills and cheetos, so what we evolved ourselves to do is now regressing. We are forfeiting the grand achievement that cost humanity billions of lives. If you don't drink milk you're literally subhuman.
Not even that anon, and I don't care about whatever you're arguing, but holy shit, this is the hottest pile of garbage I've ever read on this site. Firstly,
is not a thing.
>beginning of human society
the introduction of lactose persistence is a small nucleotide polymorphism at C-13910 (that is, upstream 13910 bases of the lactase/LCT gene) that has been definitively linked to widespread human populations in Europe only within the last 10,000 years*. Human society had not only been quite complicated and formed by this point, but things like cities and states and written symbolic logic had all been introduced (remember, the neolithic revolution occurred 12,500 years ago).
In other words, you're entire premise is incorrect and backwards: babies are tolerant to mother's milk, but lose this tolerance because prior to the domestication of cows and goats, it would be extremely poor for the continuation of a species if an adult were to drink a mother's milk that would otherwise go to the child.
However, sometime after the introduction of agriculture and the domestication of a number of animals, we see an increase in the prevalence of double copies of lactase gene in adults. This indicates that being able to drink milk gave a distinct advantage to survival. However, this ability to digest milk did not appreciably spread outside of Northern Europe until the early 20th century, and even today, the majority of the world's population remain lactose intolerant.
It is NOT the case that people "de-evolve"; the nominal populace does not have double copies of the gene into adulthood, and without the same natural selection pressures the mean population will never.
Perfectly okay for them to do that because they are adults and the children are victims.
NOT okay for the children to judge the evil adults and kill them in a way that is remisicent of the unjust actions taken on them.
They are weaponizing the violence in a way that makes sense instead of just being the innocent victims of it who lament that violence and hope for a violence and hate free future, and become easily swayed sheep that can be manipulated.
Only way to shut those faggots up is to bring in the innocent eyed youth and have them fight on the side of the angels and eternally bitch about how fucked it all is.
>Besides, it has been proven that early exposure to sex fucks with a child's development where as violence, unless it's gore, has zero negative effect.
Behold, the kind of American dumbfuck that protests sex-ed classes.
If you honestly think that majority of them don't actually think that now then YOU'RE retarded.
Remember, it's like ponies on /co/. If you shitpost extreme opinions enough, extremists will flock in thinking they've found companions of like mind.
There's a few shitposters who are actually shitposters. In fact I'm pretty sure at this point that it's one dedicated faggot who spreads himself out across this whole board pretending to be G-Reco fans and detractors, shitting /m/ up with his faggotry.
But the majority of these autismal G-Reco posts are actually from G-Reco fans. They're fucking terrible. I've never seen a fanbase on /m/ that gets this fucking mad over nothing and manages to miss the point so hard every single time.
They've actually lowered my opinion of the show.
That was the fucking problem in the first place, dumbass.
Both greco and tekketsu were just massive info and exposition dumps.
Hey did you know this technology you're familiar with that we've been working with our whole lives is very important to us spacefarers? - Guy to his superior, g-tek ep 1.
fucking hell man. Sometimes exposition is a good thing, but not when you dump the entire mechanics without leaving room for the viewer to fill the pieces in.
Look at how nen was introduced and explained in hxh. The main characters, since the first couple of episodes were always aware of certain people being freakishly strong and having a strange quality about them. And when they did finally learn what it was, they were only told the essentials and left the rest to be figured out by the viewer and themselves.
You need a mysterious aspect in your show to keep things interesting. And introduce the mechanics as the show goes on. Have the mechanics work since the first episode but keep the viewers ignorant from them. The first gundam did this, and zz expanded upon with newtypes. If you just dump everything in the first episode there's nothing to look forward to.
Both g-tekketsu and greco are weak shows.
I love HxH but nen's introduction was a straight exposition dump, even going as far as Wing pulling a lot of shit out of his ass before coming around and actually explaining what nen was and how it worked. HxH's strength is that once once the exposition is done even the craziest stunts pulled by characters can be explained as logical consequences of the nen essentials, but that doesn't change the fact that when Gon and company are learning about it the audience is treated to a lot of tell, not show.
Guessing it's a context thing.
In IBO, it's seen as kind of fine since the guys in question were assholes. In 00, Setsuna is STILL fucked up and traumatized from having taken part in that.
More like how ki works in DBZ correct?
That's much better.
People naturally figuring it out or being treated to simple explanations and demonstrations then seeing new stuff is how you pull them into the world.
Telling them how it is is much easier but also horribly inorganic. Being able to make them understand what is going on with a few words and showing them what's going on and the consequences and results?
That's how you build a world.
Even better, that's how you make the viewers talk about and become interested in the world.
And don't confuse that for keeping things open ended because they are lazy and so they can put a bunch of dumb shit in there and write themselves out of a corner.
Fucking PLD plebs. Earth has always belonged to those who adapt, and those who can 1-up others. If you do not surrender the globe to us, lactase-types, as we deserve, we will eradicate all your non-milk food production, and your entire "civilisation" will drown in diarrheas.
Too late for that,lacto scum.
We have begun eradicating your powersource, the cow!
Soon you will have nothing, but inferior goat milk. Out victory is assured, mutant scum!
Long live the Lactose Intolerant Federation!
Long live the LIF!
'Good' is a meaningless way to answer when it comes to whether you might like a work.
Do you like those B grade movies with slight hint of old sexploitation flicks? Then yes, you might find it good. If not, then no you won't find it good.
The OSTs are worth listening though.
Almost as if inexperienced and ignorant forces going to war for flimsy reasons being bad was one of the themes behind the series, almost as if Tomino was making connections to present day politics
