Starlight Glimmer stated that there are nine encchanted items. The Staff of Sameness was a fake. And Twilight stated that there are only 8. What do these things do?
>inb4 they're never mentioned again
The Ark of Anonymity
The Branch of Betaness
The Chalice of Cuckoldry
The Dweomer of Degeneracy
The Lexicon of Logical Abandonment
The Pantaloons of Privilege
The Scales of Social Justice
That part intrigued me the most. Anyone want to brainstorm possible story arcs?
Starlight mentioned that she "studied magic" so perhaps she is just part of a larger organization orchestrating this? If the writers aren't completely shit at continuity they probably remember stating MULTIPLE times that cutie mark magic is hard/dangerous. Since even Twilight seemed convinced (at first) that the staff was removing the cutie marks, it could be a rare spell. Also the fact that she got away at least implies it's possible for her to return.
Could be interesting is there is an actual season-wide "anti-friendship" league the Mane 6 has to combat.
That is the one thing that I don't want to happen.
>Starlight mentioned that she "studied magic" so perhaps she is just part of a larger organization orchestrating this?
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck I just thought of something.
This could be Starswirl teasing. We still know nothing about him except he knew the Princesses, he banished the dazzlings, AAAAAAAAAAAAND he had a spell about Cutie marks he couldn't get to work.
What if Starlight's magic is the magic Starswirl was trying to counteract. What if that's the purpose of Twilight being a princess, what if she's supposed to finish his mission and defeat the black magic that tries to destroy friendship? What if this is actually true and not my delusion??
>Elements of disharmony
Element of Deceit: Starlight
Element of Treachery: ?
Element of Animosity: ?
Element of Sorrow: ?
Element of Greed: ?
Element of Dark Magic: ?
I might be over thinking things, but it's fun to speculate. I couldn't think of an antonym for magic except for reality, so I thought dark magic could be the opposite, although the magic could imply the 'magic' of friendship or some shit.
The 8 enchanted items of Eastern Pony lands
Each contains the power to influence other ponies, objects, and nature including magic.
Forged by Unicorns who wanted to rebuild their land, centuries before the Princesses rule.
They all disappeared when the old Eastern Pony Empire fell, and have been considered legend and myth.
>inb4 Daring Do finds some of the shit and keeps it away from Auizotel.
Perhaps collecting all of them will be like gathering the Dragon Balls, and the impossible can become possible beyond limits.
My Autism may be spiraling out of control
Guys if we're really serious about a theory like this we're missing one important thing: it has to sell toys.
If you can explain how this could lead to new toys to sell it's 100% confirmed.
Six new characters = six new toys.
Give them a base and you can increase the toys by one, thus leading to seven.
Make thier goal turning into Alicorns, which can be achieved with having all of these and you have six princess toys to sell, thus giving them 13 toys with 6 princesses. There are eight items, so they have 21 new toys.
OH! Eastern Pony Lands! Going to bet that a visit to Trottingham will occur (inb4 Milky).
Sweet way to bring her back, I think you might be right. Would be a great Dash and Twi episode I think, I loved their interaction in that one and if they don't bring the rest of the Mane 6, then I think things will be even better.
I just thought of something. If it is true that Starlight is working for some big organization, what if their plan is to use the 8 magic artifacts to
Unite everyone on the planet into one single being so that everyone will be truly equal.
>throughout the season the main cast helps different oc ponies all over equestria and teaches them something about friendship
>Starlight manages to steal the cutie marks of mane 6 and princesses, placing them on herself for power (it's her special talent to be the strongest after all)
>all the ponies from the season come back to help in an autism writer's oc final battle afainst Starlight
could be cool
There is a Savana to the west. I think that would be Zebra lands.
>pretty much confirming there will be no episodes out of Equestria
>none outside of Equestria
>clearly showing continents that aren't Equestria on the map
Uh, you woot?
I like it. Its like how Larson slowly introduced Starswirl the bearded. It builds up so much depth to the lore. First Twilight dressed as him in S2.04 then there was a library section named after him in S2.20 finally for him to be important to the plot when twilight solves his spell in S3.13 (all those eps written by Larson)
Mage Meadowbrook is like the next Starswirl I think. Maybe older, or just from a different place. All we know is Twilight described him as an "Eastern Unicorn" which makes sense since the S5 village was in the East of Equestria. First he (or maybe she) is first only mentioned in name, maybe later we will see him in a flashback or something.
>Complete magic = to alicorn real
>incomplete magic + elements of harmony= Cutie mark change
>Trained incomplete spell= starlight spell
Inb4 star swirl the bearded is the final boss of this season
Perhaps he was a rival to Starswirl. Wasn't as great as him, or as well known. Found out that Starswirl was making a spell to manipulate cutie marks and Meadowbrook made one to steal them.
Could we be seeing an ancient rivalry played out with modern students of magic?
Maybe meadowbrook and starswirl were part of a circle of wizardpones and each one had an enchanted item. Probably not related but there was a candelabra that was part of the starswirl exhibit in Three's a Crowd
Personally I think she may have been more of a rival than a peer.
The fact that he couldn't affect Cutie marks with magic and Starlight could definitely implies they're using different schools of magic.
>inb4 Starswirl comes back and reveals he now serves a big eldritch evil overlord
Only eight? At least that number's just from one pony or else I'd think unicorns are lazy bastards.
>"Help, help stop oppressing me."
I feel like we've seen foils, or "anti-mane 6" already. Basically characters that are like a corrupted version of the m6's elements. Not for everyone, but for some.
For instance: Anti-Fluttershy would be someone similar to her, but never experienced true kindness.
Like the mane 6 if they had never discovered their calling as the EoH.
Twilight>"corrupted" friendship>Sunset Shimmer
Rainbow>"corrupted" loyalty>Lightning Dust
Applejack>"corrupted" honesty>Flim and Flam
Rarity>"corrupted" generosity>Suri Polomare
I'll try coming up with something for the other two.
Anti-Fluttershy: A social outcast that never experienced true kindness. Instead of turning to animals like FS did, Anti-FS turned to machines: they can't let you down or betray you, they are predictable, folow the plans, and do nothing more than what they are designed to do. This is where she finds solace, as a tinkerer with machines.
Anti-Pinkie: Pinkie's source of happiness is external, she finds happiness in making others happy.
Perhaps the anti-Pinkie searches inward for her source of happiness, but never truly finds it. Her search for passion becomes her passion, and as result her personality is philosophical and distant.
but would it be accurate to call Starlight a foil to Discord?
If Discord is chaos, then Starlight would be the opposite: Sameness. Equality. Stagnation.
Just some thoughts.
Twilight's element is magic though. So Trixie would fit better as an anti-Twilight. Trixie was also supposed to be (originally) a recurring villain and a sort of rival to twilight according to Faust.
>"Cutie mark magic" theme season
>"This one belong to a princess"
Sup, this gonna to be good
I don't think Lightning Dust works good for that, she was just a show off, nothing to do with loyalty. Gilda would be corrupted loyalty. She and Dash were friends and 'always had each others back'. It would make sense if she comes back this season for some revenge, especially since it looks like Griffon Lands are on the map.
You could still make the list work. Twilight's passion before she met the others was learning about magic. The same is true of Sunset. But they had different approaches. Sunset was greedy and wanted all the knowledge and powerful magic to herself; she was all about power.
The difference between Twilight and Sunset, is that Sunset decided she didn't need friendship, and ended up being power-hungry and manipulative. Whereas Twilight, (apprehensive at first and initially dreading the prospect), embraced her friendship with the rest of the mane 6, and became the element of friendship/magic.
I do agree with you at a basic level, but we're brainstorming possible story arcs for S5. There is an abysmally low chance that Shimmer will show up. It's practically confirmed that she won't.
AND she's not a bad guy anymore.
I've been saying since S4 ended, that the only way to top Tirek in terms of threat level was to get a Legion of Doom going, using either old or new rivals of the Mane 6. The leader could be a G1 villain since they've been bringing them back recently.
Also the powers-that-be have pretty much confirmed Starswirl is showing up at some point with all the setup they did in the journal. It may not be this season, but at some point he is popping up, and that gives access to time-travel story shenanigans. You can do big stuff with that; they might even save it for the movie.
At the most direct, it was a clue that something was up with the staff since Meadowbrook only made eight items of note. It could also lead further, but anything past that is speculation.
We have enough females that play important roles.
Almost every villain or leader is a mare and for a good chunk of the series there was pretty much only mares. Also fucking Spike.
For once I would like a character that isn't discord to do neat shit.
Also fuck Shinning Armor. He's a pussy.
I hate his voice and his personality. As long as its in green we don't have a problem. But in the show... man I have never wanted to punch a pony quite so much before I saw Shining Armor
And before you ask; I don't know why. He just rubs me the wrong way.
>The Outdoors Acceptance, a cursed set of socks that allowed ponies to become more 'one' with Nature
which turned them into trees, basically. Send it to Fluttershy
>The Pie Promise, a hidden oven that cooks the most delicious food Equestria has ever known, but was sealed away when the townsfolk became ravenous and dependent on the food.
>The Faire De'Lazy, a cursed coin that allows the wearer to turn anypony he or she touches to gold.
>The Alicorn Amulet.
>The Great Schot, a headband that turns the wearer into a genius, but a shut-in introvert who only focuses on himself.
>The Greenhouse, a bag containing material that protects the environment as seen in the IDW comics
>The Optical Illusion, an emblem that allows the wearer to turn completely invisible, but is cursed to have him lose morality and sense of being a la "The Invisible Man"
>The Thread Kneader, a post on /mlp/ that should tell everyone to check the first letter of the second word in every artifact name.
>The Fedora of Friendship
>The Trench Coat of Trust
>The Cape of Courage
>The Jean Shorts of Justice
>The Katana of Kindness
>The Headband of Honesty
>The Gloves of Generosity
>The Plushie of Pleasure
When combined together, they open a portal to the human world
where Flash Sentry joins the Mane Six
