>tfw I'm a Rosefag and can't stop thinking about how they're going to defile my waifu with fucking doctor autism pandering shit
It better not, but at this point, I can see only one future.
i drew her but post-cutie mark. I guess you guys prefer her equalized
Betcha ten bucks it's another Starswirl the Bearded. Just an important sounding name thrown in there to make the lore sound deep and convoluted when really it's just something they made up on the fly that's never reeeally gonna get mentioned again
until in one year there's a story about it in the comics and it's utter shit
I mean, the cutie marks did the vibrating thing again at the end, claimed that the map was calling them again. Unless the map happens to be biased and calls them to ponyville every other episode I bet on a lot of traveling.
I'm pretty sure we'll actually be seeing Star Swirl this season though. That teaser trailer with McCarthy and Vogel, the constant foreshadwoing in past seasons.
They can compeltely diregard the comics if they want, they're AU at best.
>being a fan of a background pony
You see, this is your problem. It's now almost guaranteed that they're going to give your waifu a different character than what you'd assign to her, and it's all your fault for liking a characterless piece of shit anyway. :^)
>a different character than what you'd assign to her
Not the Anon you replied to, but I'm pretty sure it's not that the personality doesn't match headcanon, it's because she's shipped with a stupid character for the sake of a pun. Anything would be preferable over that.
Posted this in the draw thread but looks dead.
/r/ Requesting a two panel comic where Twilight is listening to Starlight Glimmer rant about how ponies with Cutie Marks are the cause of all of Equestria's problems and that they need to #KillAllPoniesWithCutieMarks. the second panel has twilight say "fuck this I'm out" to which Starlight Glimmer shouts "OMG it's about equality, stop being a bigot and educate yourself!"
>it's not that the personality doesn't match headcanon, it's because she's shipped with a stupid character for the sake of a pun
Either so, when you devote yourself to a character who actually has no defined personality or trait of any kind, you're kinda asking to get fucked when such qualities are actually assigned to them, whether it be a joke, a reference or pretty much anything.
I mean, the little gag from seasons back with her walking besides Time Turner is the closest thing to charaterisation she's received anyhow.
>only upscaled. MLP:FiM is created in 720p
It's created in Flash. You can Upscale Vectors without loss. In 20 years, when full HD is considered as blurry as censored boobs, you could rerender the whole show in whatever resolution you want
>waifuing a background pony
Why? You like how pretty her mane is? kek
Talking about those eight enchanted items that the staff was the fake "ninth"?
Might just have been in there so Twilight could mention that there never was a ninth one prior to the staff being revealed as a fake.
If you notice, when they solve it, the lights are going inward instead of outward. So yeah, it was 'calling them back'.
And yes, BOOTY CALLS. I bet you they actually say that around the office too.
This has a point. We're seven billion people, there's always someone who'll agree and someone who'll disagree to ANYTHING.
That said, twi is completely OOC in there, she'd never do that. And wanting to be the only two to be equal *makes them different*, so it doesn't really make much sense.
It does make a bit of sense. People tend to have stuff in common.
But Twilight is correct within the context of the show. It's been established that your cutie mark basically defines your personality, and suppression of said personality can only be considered detrimental.
When you go to far in any one direction, you wind up in the same place. It's called the "Horseshoe effect" funny enough.
This is why Moderation is the key, finding a balance between authoritative and liberation.
I'm sure that Twilight would have been fine with it if that's what they really wanted. It wasn't the whole 'equal' thing that was the problem anyway, it was forced equality.
Of course, but she wouldn't go to these extremes, as that undermines the point of being an individual. You can't force them. I think the best thing in such a circumstance to do is say that she would look out for any free cutie marks she found and then give them to them instead of setting them free. If they ever feel like having them back, they would be there for them.
But then again, she doesn't put people in jail or attempt to brainwash them for disagreeing. That would never ever happen.
If those two realize they like not having cutie marks, then it's their life and they are only harming themselves. They aren't dangerous.
The seasons are getting more serious.
>Season 7 ep. 1 and 2
>"We're nothing but clouds"
>Twilight Sparkle is solving a case of missing ponies of a specific color.
>All traces lead to a pony named Adamant Hitchhiker, who seems to have gained a strong political movement in a different colour group.
>He says he sets them free by hard work at his factory, but what is really happening to them?
wouldn't the white tail woods and the everfree forest be switched. I always thought Everfree was west of ponyville?
Do you realize how much fucking porn there will be of Night Glider? Can you even start to imagine? And probably half of it lesbian porn with Rainbow Dash.
And my dick really likes the thought.
>Them gasmask ponies though
>tfw Cheeki Breeki porn an hour after they air
Probably. I mean,
is probably enough to make this a "canon ship" in the eyes of some people.
Nice smaller scale premier. No massive world saving epic but a nice intro to the themes of the season, and it worked great on a technical level as it lacked alot of the more cringe inducing moments other episodes have had. If I was to find issue with the episode, it would be with how there is 0 resolution with the villain, as she just runs off into oblivion, but at least this time she didn't fail due only to her own stupidity and didn't monologue herself to death. 9/10 episode.
you know, isnt it just getting more and more clear that a cutie mark ISNT the sign of their inner personality but the sign that controls their personality?
Cutie pox forced apple bloom to do whatever the marks told her. Mystery Cure forced the mane 6 to do what ever the mark told them. The equality sign forced them to equalize everything. Cutie Marks basically suppress true free will.
I don't get it. Isn't tumblr supposed to be the one fighting for diversity? Like, they want us to treat seriously people who have some gender issues or say that they're planets in human form or some shit.
They're also in eastern Equestria, and it seems it's connected by land with what appeared to be the Griffon continent.
Oddly enough that piece seems somewhat highlighted, the cutie marks floating above it, and it wasn't present in this map >>22482246
except you get your cutie mark by finding out what you're good at. all those examples are of magic interfering, which i'm willing to bet just fucks with a pony's mind so much they go along with it.
From what I've noticed, there's a fuckton of Double Diamond and Sugar Belle art, but barely any of the other two
And I don't mind that honestly, DD and Sugar Belle are my waifu/husbando combo I mean look at this sexy fuck
>"Ever since they labeled me a planet no longer, my spirit has traveled to Earth in this mortal body to spread the word that I am indeed truely a planet. I shall not rest until all planets are treated with the respect they deserve"
no see thats the real mind fuck. since its all destiny and shit the mark appears when you do what the mark thinks you should be doing. It's positive reinforcment kind of bullshit.
It probably releases a shit ton of endorphins too whenever you do whatever it is that you have to do. I know i wouldnt mind driving a fast car in circles or making shovels if it gave me a rush and basically made me socially acceptable because my butt tattoo fits.
>liking the idea of forced mental and physical equality that goes beyond any social or legal equality.
No, they aren't dangerous because of their ideology, but because they are mentally ill.
And holy shit tumblr is salty
well seeing as how you cant change your mark naturally and you get it at a very young age you are forced into a set profession for the rest of your life.
There's got to be some planning involved in this shit or you'd be pretty short on toiletscrubber cutie marks.
>did adam and eve really enjoy paradise before they had free will?
I don't think they did, just like you can't say they were good. You can't be good without knowing evil, just like you can't feel pleasure without knowing other states of mind.
But I don't think it's the case here. Ponies and their cutie marks are connected, but I like to think that it's like with humans - we too have our predestined talents. Not to that degree, but still - one of us will make better drawings and feel better about it, other one will prefer writing.
Taking away cutie marks is taking away things that ponies are not only good at, but also enjoy doing - their own little tao, something they can use to unite with universe and just be happy.
Cutie marks are like prestige classes that you take naturally once you meet the requirements (whatever those requirements are).
Or in less /tg/ terms, it grows off the "stuff that interests you" part of your brain, and becomes part of it. That part of you will naturally encompass the things you're good at, because interest leads to practice.
Hmm, well I wonder now. Is there a difference between enjoying something and thinking that you're enjoying something?
And, I'm not sure the concept of free will makes logical sense. It probably depends on how you define it exactly. But as such, I think starting off with a premise of free will is something like starting with a premise of "2 + 2 = 5" or some other such logical contradiction, making for an unsound argument.
thanks mr skeltal
It was part of the shower scene where she
just watch the show
>Hmm, well I wonder now. Is there a difference between enjoying something and thinking that you're enjoying something?
Yes, you can believe you're enjoying something without feeling the emotion of joy. That's called cognitive dissonance. People often go into denial and make excuses, rather than cope.
I agree with most of what you're saying, though. This isn't a complex thing. The stuff you're good at will naturally be tied to the stuff you're interested in, because practice is how you git gud -- be it art, writing, or whatever.
Mmm. Well, I could see this getting complicated now, and perhaps calling for some more precise language which actual non-armchair-philosophers have probably already developed long ago now. But...
I can surely see people voicing their excuses and denial and such to others, and even themselves: "No, really, I'm totally happy...". But I think it's something of a seperate question still whether they actually beleive it "deep down".
I suppose it comes down to defining what "belief" and "feeling" are more precisely. I think I'm intuitively using the terms such that they're synonymous, which is why the idea of someone believing something but not feeling it isn't making sense to me.
So I think I would say, that if you're "not feeling the emotion of joy" then you don't "believe you're enjoying something", even if you tell others or yourself that you are, or act like you are.
The question might be, how precisely are you defining these terms "belief" and "feeling"?
Yes. If you believe you're enjoying something to such a degree that you feel joy, then by definition, you are enjoying it.
It's impossible to define those with greater granularity, because they aren't really quantifiable. Belief isn't a binary, all-or-nothing deal, beyond your own (conscious) decisions about yourself.
Well I don't think we need to be able to quantify them to define them more precisely. I think defining things is largely about stating what makes something different from other things.
You seem to be using the terms as if they mean different things still with your
> If you believe you're enjoying something to such a degree that you feel joy, then by definition, you are enjoying it.
so you probably have some such definitions in mind already. They just have to be articulated.
Joy (and thus enjoyment) is an emotion -- a feeling. Belief is a different kind of feeling, and one that only exists in relation to other topics. Both of those exist on sliding scales.
You can feel great conviction about your own "happy" state, without actually feeling the joy that would logically come with it. (And that is measurable, to some extent; endorphins and dopamine and all that jazz.) If it goes on long enough, I'm sure that conviction will waver and lead to a crisis, but it's still a state that can exist. It is by no means a stable situation.
I personally enjoyed the premiere. It seems like we'll see the Main Six traveling around Equestria/the world, too, so I hope we get to see places that we haven't yet (all those other named cities that aren't Manehatten, for example). Starlight Glimmer got away, so we'll definitely see her again.
I wonder, could Glimmer be pissed because her "special talent" is taking away others' special talent? Maybe she's upset that she doesn't get to be great at cooking, flying, construction, or other stuff like everyone else. So she debuffed everyone so that they would be "just like her" or something. I guess we'll find out for sure when she returns.
Also, I think I'll just hang around in this thread. All the other threads related to the episode are, well, not so good.
Honestly, I don't think that's what Glimmer's talent is. I think she might be like Twilight and good at magic itself. Though, perhaps that's just me preferring not to imagination a cutie mark in cult indoctrination.
Well I think we might just be in agrement. I think you might just be restating what I said earlier.
I think your "feeling great conviction about their own 'happy' state" is the same as my "telling others/themselves that they're happy". And I think it's still something of a seperate question whether they truely believe they're happy.
And I'm still thinking that "believe" and "feel" are synonymous in this context. And I think you're agreeing with your "belief = emotion = feeling". I think I'd probably throw "think" on that synonym pile as well: "think = feel = believe".
It may be pertinent though to articulate a more useful, or intensional, definition for these terms. Like saying that "An emotion is a feeling" isn't a useful definition. It's been a long real time since I've armchair-philosophized, so I'm a whole lot hazier on my (well, everything, but...) semantics than I used to be, but you typically want to define things with, like, a list of properties that are required for something to qualify for being called a given term.
Like, to say an "immoral action is a bad action" would be a non-useful definition. But to say "An immoral action is an action which diminishes happiness, well-being, or health; or causes unnecessary harm or suffering" would be a useful one.
And I think to say "a belief is something you think or feel" might be a similarly non-useful definition. But I'm feeling somewhat stumped myself though as to what properties would define a thought/feeling/belief in this context. Perhaps the problem does stem from the internal nature of the phenomenon: the unquantifiability you mention. Perhaps it really isn't possible to determine what someone, or even what we ourselves, truly think/feel/believe.
>Appuls aint free. The tree of apples and cidar gotta be litterd with the remians of flam and flim. Other foods aka "not appul" are not my crop. ya'll are yanks and probably use fansy mathmatics as well :DD. Appuls and southernisms not oranjes and CITIES ok. Praise granny
I really loved the little details they put into this premier
>new facial expressions
>Very smooth animation
>Twilight's wing fluffing
>Sugar Bell's recitation of the town philosophy snapped to monotone like she was obviously brainwashed
>having the town ponies help themselves instead of doing the work for them ala cyrstal empire
>making the entire place seem unsettling
Everything just felt right, I thought the episode was very fresh
I loved that. Pinkie being the only one to notice, or even care, that everyone's smiles were off and that not a single pony there was truly happy from the get-go is extremely accurate to her and her element. That's the kind of stuff the show should do more often.
I thoroughly study smiles.
Notice how the smile wrinkle on this one is 76 degrees. That's a good smile.
This smile however has the exact same wrinkle but at 76.000001 degrees. That's suspicious as fuck.
This is my new favorite episode, it was honestly well done. Although nothing that hasn't been done before on other show's, but the /k/ommando and horsefucker in me enjoyed Communism with ponies.
The ending was sappy bull shit though, which is a given considering hasjew's actual target. I liked the "This looks like an end scene" part with ponka, that shit was kinda funny.
I downloaded the entire episode, if you would like it, i can give you a drop box link for an MP4.
>Though, perhaps that's just me preferring not to imagination a cutie mark in cult indoctrination.
Oh god. Starlight Glimmer's cutie mark is the Hale-Bopp Comet.
Useless Celestia, she didnt even bother showing up for the episode, a new record for season premieres
Spike character development, he's becoming a greedy little fuck with trading cards
and the fact that Big Mac has just gotten more personality with a few lines from spike than all of his own screentime combined
Starswirl if you want to extend it to any 2spookymagician with the staffs
Assassinmonkey is really fast with these. Good to see some good fan artists remain in the fandom for S5.
>Tumblr is so salty it actually pulls a complete 180 on its usual beliefs just so it can be salty
