Friends Forever #22 is out on iTunes.
Previous comics can be found here:
There was a blank page for img_3 for some reason, but the comic looked complete when I double checked it so it should all still be here.
That's a real dessert
Actually it seems like the same number as usual. There was likely just an extra blank page put in accidentally.
I don't know. All of his ponies look like they're in constant pain being on two legs and Celestia's head disgusts me.
Is this one of those "I have no clue what pose it's supposed to be, just make a mess of lines" things?
That's all of it. Hope you enjoyed it /mlp/!

Well, look like it was a very piece of cake as comic book!
Later this month we get Comic #36, continuing the 4 part Siege of the Crystal Empire arc:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #36
>Jeremy Whitley (w) • Andy Price (a) Andy Price (c) Sara Richard (sc)
>“Siege of the Crystal Empire” Part 3! A nefarious foe returns to full power to reclaim that which is rightfully his! Ancient mysteries will be revealed as Twilight and Cadance seek a way to stop the darkness from spreading! An epic story for the ages unfolds!
>a pony that has a normal human name.
It's a fine name I tell you hwat.
Ordinarily, I would give this a 5/10 because the story was cute and had some good moments. However, the Luna book that came out today has a very similar story that is handled much better, creates a believable backstory, and in general is just written better. So...4/10. Fosgitt really isn't improving much sadly.
Slight hope for this.
The art really was just atrocious and took away from most of whatever message this was supposed to have, but at the same time it shitted up the potential for a decent story with Luna outright saying "you do think of me as an equal, as evidenced by a cake". I mean, seriously? Fucking seriously? It acts like Luna and Celestia never speak to each-other or something and Pinkie practically plays no role. Celestia could have done the exact same thing while bearing over a castle chef, and the lesson Pinkie learned is... nothing?
Next month we get Friends Forever #23 featuring Applejack and Fluttershy:
My Little Pony: Friends Forever #23
>Ted Anderson (w) • Tony Fleecs (a) • Amy Mebberson (c) • Tony Fleecs (Subscription Variant Cover)
>Applejack and Fluttershy go camping! The serenity of nature is ruined when ponies travel from all over Equestria to catch a glimpse of the legendary Pigasus that is rumored to be in the area! Will our two ponies be able to get to bottom of the mystery... before pigs fly?
Also the Luna book in the chapter books series came out today if any of you are interested in that:
My Little Pony: Princess Luna and the Festival of the Winter Moon
>"Princess Luna used to be the villainous Nightmare Moon. Now reformed, she's still getting used to palace life with her sister Celestia. Read more about fan-favorite character, Luna, in this original story."
>Written by Ted Anderson
>Drawn by Tony Fleecs
Welp, that's an easy skip.
>it's a lingam
>just a fucking boring ass dome
What a shame
Did he just PHOTOSHOP a fucking whisk on that chef in the last panel?!
Holy shit that's exactly what they did.
Looks like Chrysalis is having second thoughts on helping Sombra. This is going to turn into a villains aiding the heroes because now a bigger threat endangers them won't it? At least until they are one shot as well just so Twi and/or Cadance can save the day.
Well yeah, what he wants to do is completely defeating the reason why she joined up. It would be like if dictators teamed up and the senior partner in it wanted to nuke a country that was the whole point the junior partner joined up to begin with.
I don't understand Fosgitt. I like a lot of his other art and most of it's clean and consistent. Why does he shit all over when he's making these comics? The weird poses, the inconsistent proportions, the lazy details...Just...Why?
And they just showed Sombra is powerless following one-shotting the princesses (for some reason) and Hope is a purely support type.
If Sombra turns her down here, WHAT is stopping Chrysalis from siccing her entire army on them again?
Hope's plan sucks and she sucks.
Is it just me or... http://www.clipartpanda.com/clipart_images/black-cooking-whisk-47160245
I mean... It's not just me right?
They should've just fucked in front of Cadence and Twilight when he got revived and pulled out and shot his load into the princesses eyes. And then captured them while their eyes were stinging.
For fuck's sake
SHE'S STANDING RIGHT THERE WITH THE BAG HOLDING THE CRYSTAL HEART. RIGHT NEXT TO THE CAGE.
Those bars are wide as a mile, why doesn't she hold Hope down and have Rarity or someone air-lift the Heart out, vaporize Sombra / heal Twilight's horn and be done with this nonsense? Fluttershy knows it's in that bag because she recognized the one Will came in with.
But fuck it that'd make too much sense, wouldn't it?
The other cutie marks appear to be literally copy-pasted too, so corner-cutting to save a minute of work is a staple of this, it seems.
Heck, Celestia's looks like it wasn't even positioned correctly when it was pasted on. Probably the reason why every attempt is made not to make the marks visible using wings and poses.
I mean holy shit nigger this guy is a professional, what the fuck.

>Celestia as Chairman Kaga
Literal art theft. Of something as simple as a fucking WHISK as a cutie mark. Holy shit my sides are gone.
Fosgitt needs to go, fucking hell. I can barely breathe right now.
OVER A FUCKING WHISK.
I wonder if they'll actually get flak for it. I mean, it's a super minor detail, but it's pretty a solid no no in any professional industry.
Welcome to IDW quality.
It's art theft, plain and simple. If it were a public domain thing it would be fine, but it's not.
Bobby must know, yet he keeps his mouth shut for some reason.
It is a mystery.
Stolen whisk and crap compression aside, all of the cutie marks look like shitty copypasta of poorly resized raster images.
And this pose, jesus:
The ability to be a lazy fuck with an employer that'll rubber stamp whatever comes across their desk? Goddamn, Is IDW hiring?
On the sidenote, Celestia have detachable limbs.
That or this "professional" artist" just don't give a fuck.
Looks like we have us some dissension in the ranks.
King vs Queen fight, this gonna be good.
On /co/, does anyone story time a comic with art as pure garbage as this? Seriously, this shit burns my fucking eyes. And these >>25325935 >>25325948
IDW should be embarrassed to have their name on this.
All too easy this issue. Why does cooking + Pinkie Pie = fucking disaster in IDW's comics?
(See the even more loathesome Pinkie/AJ comic for worse, but where the fuck is Curnow and why isn't he killing fuckups like this before they get to final layouts and heaven help us, publication?)
My opinion on what Jay should do next, in comicshoop form:
Yeah, I see it too. Celestia literally does have PTSD over Luna's banishment though.
I'll give it a 5/10.
The setting and story was a nice touch, as it shows more sisterly bonds that's
four years lateand such. She and Pinkie's scenes were nicely done, and the one pagers and spreadpagers were one of the better looking parts of the comic.
The bad bits was that the comic was a bit boring, both in dialogue and in length. Normally I have nothing bad to feel for Fogsitt's art since I'm probably one of the few who doesn't mind it at all, but in a lot of the panels, the art was all over the place, mostly noticable in the hind legs, head size and >>25325296, >>25325278 and >>25325159. The art is cheery, but I can see why it would turn some people off especially when viewed zoomed in. This >>25325749 though is unacceptable and just really lazy. I mean really, a copy paste for a small butt mark? Really?
Also adding, the look of the last cake was extremely underwhelming. Yes, I expected something simple, but I didn't expect it to be THAT boring.
2 min in paint and I don`t know how to draw. A pro can't do it right?
5/10? I would see it as much lower. a 2/10
The idea was ok, and the reasoning of the characters is good. But the dialogue is terrible written and dumb down many things. The art while cute, here and there, it's terrible in big doses with many stupid and weird anatomy here and there. Plus the Photoshop pasting of the cutie marks and if you include the stolen whisk clipart, shows how much that artist cares. IDW should fire that guy, or give him only cover art duties, and only on those weird variants.
My comment for this comic is what Luna is saying.
Same anon >>25328101
I just had an idea, you know what would be much better? Celestia going to Pinkie, trying to learn to bake a cake because she wanted to have a small celebration after the banquet. We still have Pinkie shenanigans, Celestia having the same reason but making it more personal, a better moment between those 2 sisters, because right now is like Celestia was bored to bake, so she hired another pony to make a cake for her sister.
Methinks somebody's getting unwarranted money for shite final product.
Beside the art, it would've been an okay but mediocre issue.
And I actually like the basics of Fosgitt's style, but if he can't even draw consistently and keeps putting in human poses and stock clipart cutie marks...
It was just bad.
I think it's a bit autistic to constantly bitch about "too much human poses" in a cartoon, and that very well translates to comics here. Don't get me wrong, a lot of the anatomy in this comic was completely fucked but not because it was "too human"; moreso that certain actions did not translate well and made limbs look awkward.
Further more, holy fucking shit the immediate knee-jerk reaction toward a clipart cutiemark. Seriously? I laughed at that, because I took into consideration that just maybe it was intended as a gag. But in the interest of fairness, yeah sure it would help if somebody tweeted them to find out what the deal was.
Overall I'd give it a 7/10. Comfy and safe story bogged down by questionable art design choices.
I don't have image editing software, but I think that and the patch just south east of it under the wing was supposed to be her foreleg.
Just stopped by to participate in open discussion and sharing my opinion freely. :^)
If -that's- what's considered thread derailment, then I know I'm doing something right.
Haha, it IS you again.
Please, keep telling everyone how this is pure gold and how we are all autistic for not agreeing with you.
I'm preeeety sure that will help to boost the comic's sales and save Fosgitt's ass.
>7/10 is pure gold
>Criticized the disjointed awkward art
I'm digging the Yellow Submarine cake there.
Also, did she just wrap a bunch of books together and call it a cake? Or is it just a cake that looks exactly like a bunch of books wrapped together?
I'm using the American measurement where 70% is about average. Whatever the case, yes for me the positives outweighed the negatives and I felt this comic was about average/slightly above average.
Did not break my immersion excessively, but then I'm not judging it solely on the art and I liked the story.
Why exactly this comic deserves an above average rating?
Please explain it without using personal preferences and subjective claims, as you are trying to apply your own rating as something everyone should accept.
I wouldn't really call SQ an obvious shill. If an issue has problems he'll always mention them. At the very least he's a step up from people like DrForrester who I've never seen dislike any issue.
I just assumed it was a lot of fondant. Pic related is a cake.
>Please explain it without using personal preferences and subjective claims, as you are trying to apply your own rating as something everyone should accept.
Are you being serious right now? Are you literally saying I need to define my interpretation of this comic in an objective manner, insinuating that I am somehow telling others they have to agree with me, and then insist that my -personal- opinion is somehow objectively wrong by implying I should give it the same rating everyone else is giving it? Because not liking Fostgitt's artstyle totally isn't personal taste, and believing there should never be human poses is in no way subjective at all?
I think it's time to stop making those Story Time threads, anon. Put this episode behind us and forget about mlp comics. I completely lost any interest in it and i was the one who used to defend Reflections.
I don't care about Luna so nah.
Also the Dsicord book had not any influnece over the series, so it's as pointless as the comics. The only reason to read it is to find any clues for future episodes since Berrow already seen the scripts when writing these books.
Fair enough. I like the books and comics cause I enjoy the cute little things I can get from them. Any of the other things are a bonus.
Plus I like how they pull from each other. Even if the show's probably never going to take from either of them.
Typical response, as would be expected.
i can use reaction images too!
>He selects from his reaction folder yet another "clever" image
>Fingers a tremble from the frayed nerves that somebody would dare disrupt his comfort zone
>He tries doing the captcha, but the anxiety causes slip-ups and he keeps needing to redo them
>Finally getting it right, he hits the post button
>His voice cracks as he squeals out a reluctant giggle, the image upload percentage climbing upward building his anticipation
>The post submits, he wipes the profuse grease and sweat from his brow and gives a sheepish grin
>"T-that'll teach that bully to invade my safe space!" he declares aloud to the dark and empty room, but tentatively as he is unsure of his victory.
Nice damage control: exposing yourself on your samefagging but using the "wrong" wording so you could try convince everryone to dismiss the samefagging claim.
Talking, arguing and defending yourself: you are a very special case of a forever alone guy.
The art was terrible and the dialogue forced and retarded towards the end. Plot was a nice concept but could have been handled better.
The problems were too significant for me to enjoy it.
What a fucking shit comic, story is bullshit, the art is absolute shite and then the artist is so lazy he photoshops clipart into it instead of drawing
Does Hasbro simply not have any QA to screen and filter this garbage or what, Jesus Christ.
Are you fucking kidding me?
I'm sorry, but is this fucking reality right now?
I'm probably overeating right now, but did they seriously use some non commercial vector of a fucking whisk picture to put it on the flank of Chase as his fucking cutie mark?!?
Is this fucking mean we actually have a legit prove to make a change for the IDW comics of MLP for fucking really?
Again, excuse me if I type like a faggot, but my mind is destroyed right now by this absolute nonprofessionalism, this is a new level of fucked up.
I can only legitimately see people do it for a homework in the University when they are at last minute, and again...
According to this book, she met her 2 batpony guards when she settled a dispute when she was a young princess.
So those guards of hers are 1000+ years old which I guess makes sense if they're supposed to be vampire analogs.
Or they know the secret to longevity- shoving carrots up your asshole every day.
Or they know bullshit magic like Radiant Hope/Mirror Sombra/whatever other bullshit OC survives thousands of years and several generations without actually aging a day.
>I'm probably overeating right now
then put down the goddamn fork there, porkins
The fact that Berrow went out of her way to bring up Cook's retarded OC is more than enough to make me put her entire list of works on my "never support in any way possible" for good.
If she was willing to shoehorn the comics in her books, then nothing will stop her from pulling a Jim Miller and shoehorning more of Andy and Katie's shit on the cartoon itself.
At this level, I would suggest just giving up and letting go.
I'm not going to change my mind no matter how many shills and assholes try to convince me that the reference is too small to care.
Pic related: the bugs in this meal are tiny, insignificant, really aren't changing the meal's nice flavour.
Would you still want to eat this?
Whatever you need to validate it, it's your choice.
I still think you're basically just torturing yourself by sticking with a franchise that has so much for you to hate.
Fuck, the possum is probably one of the least-offensive things to come out of the comics. And you're triggering on it like a tumblrtard?
That, or considering nobody really has done jack shit for actual canon on batponies means we know about as much regarding them as we do canonical seaponies. Seriously, we see them pulling the chariot in the show and that's about it until now.
Those bugs are not insignificant and will change the flavor if you bite down on them.
Face it, you're just an autist pretending to take some kind of moral high ground.
And you're using the term 'projecting' completely incorrectly in this argument as well as offering nothing in the lines of evidence to back it up, essentially saying "I have no clue what else to say at this point so lets resort to spewing whatever crap I've seen other say before and hope it works!"
They have tried to put seaponies in every season since the second one but it never works out, and the EU surrounding ponies that live in water is a clusterfuck.
I think Anon is implying Tiberius is annoying because he used to be shoved in everything. Would be like if the book referenced cloud gremlins. But again considering it directly contradicts comic lore, it's being rather a la carte with what it gives reference to.
Because mlp and 4chan in particular are about 5 guys just talking to one another, making it look like many people with differing opinions that may actually be different than your own
Go back to your like minded hug box outsider
Whether that be Tumblr, Reddit, or whatever normies like you use to feel validated online.
You're goddamn right
I think people are overreacting on this one. Tiberius being acknowledged doesn't give a stamp of approval or canonicity on Cook's work.
Look at S5. Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep was a directa daption of the premise of the Nightmarity arc, but it was markedly different.
The show (and novels) can simply take some of the comic's good stuff (Tiberius in itself wasn't actually offensive in any way) and appropriate it, while discarding the rest.
FF #22 had such incredibly lazy art. The sheer amount of human-like poses was irritating. No attempt was made to make them move and posture like ponies. And that's not even counting possible art theft.
Meanwhile, the Sombra comic arc is even worse.
>Stupid retcon of Sombra's origins
>An OC taking all the limelight
>Celestia and Luna getting worfed
>Flam and Flam, Lightning Dust and Iron Will are antagonists, not villains. Even if they side with the mane 6 later, it'll still be incredibly retarded.
I feel sorry for whoever pays money for these.
Because only a very little part of the fandom give a shit about the books. Just check the number of threads about the books for /mlp/ reference, pages cap/fanart in derpibooru for the regular fandom(or fanart about the books) and replies in EQD in the book related post for the top autistic part of the fandom. Practically nothing if you compare that with the comics or even fandom projects.
Those G.M berrow books will be ignored forever
The show does it a lot of times. They don't have a lot to lose if they do another Rarijack in the comics again. I think they already did two Rarijacks. One from FiM and one from FF.
>Flam and Flam, Lightning Dust and Iron Will are antagonists, not villains. Even if they side with the mane 6 later, it'll still be incredibly retarded.
This. This is what made the comic stupid for me. I could handle all the other stuff except that.
The art has the potential to be cute, but the way Fosgitt stylizes them makes them look too much like pigs and Celestia looks like a swan in some frames. Human poses, while even in the show sometimes and not a problem at all times, are just grating here. Top it off with copypasted cutie marks, anatomy that makes no sense like in >>25325278 and literal art theft and we have the 2nd worst artist of the comics to date.
The worst thing is he doesn't even have to be this bad, because he can do better. He's just a lazy fuck.
I had a glance at some of the comics and...ugh...that art style just puts me right off. Poses are so damn awkward looking, and the dialogue seems even akwarder. Really? Celestia never thought about how awful 1000 years on the moon was? I doubt that. I really doubt that.
And there's the wicked whisk issue.
I know im late to the party.
But still. This must be posted.
I won't deny that this comic sucks, but I miss when there used to be good comics. It's depressing to look at old storytime threads with Anons hyped and liking the comic compared to now when nothing seems to be good enough anymore and there's always some extreme stuff wrong with them to the point of it being plastered everywhere.
Every artist except Hickey draw like shit while Price doesn't give a fuck about quality anymore.
Out of the writers, the only one who had some decency in writing is both an SJW and also is falling from grace with his recent Sombra series.
There is litrally no point to be hyped for the comics. Not only there is no illusion of them being even slightly canon, but now the 2 things that made them stand on their own - art and story was completely wasted after 2 years.
I understand the issues with Fosgitt, but as someone who really enjoyed Tiny Toons Adventures, it looks great overall.
Also what he did to Luna's head here
and the clipart here
are completely unacceptable.
The plot could have been played out better with a few more pages. Or at least kept Celestia hanging over pinkie's head from the start so the confrontation would happen sooner.
Oh yeah, the first issues when everyone was excited about it, the art was mostly good and stories made sense
Nowadays not even the FF series are safe, everything is terrible. A new release just makes me go pic related
Because it's a LEGAL issue, dear shill. We have a thing called "LAW" and they broke it, so they have no other choice but answer to it, regardless of how many people tries to play damage control for them.
Neither Curnow, Fosgitt or you are above the LAW.
Holy shit, you are right.
He refuses to check the comic for typos, refuses to see if the writers are keeping their stories similar to the cartoon's, refuses to check if the artists are keeping the visuals similar to the cartoon and refuses to check if they are slipping more unauthorized cameos from friends and asslickers.
-What- is Bobby's job, then?
Is he even doing anything at all?
The decreasing comic sales proves that the readers got tired of Curnow's bullshit.
If he hates the job so bad, why not just resign from that comic in particular so another editor could take his place?
>stories made sense
I'm sure it's not the same for everyone but the Changeling arc had some pretty big screwups.
>Changelings act like completely retarded zombies when transformed into pony civilians when they really shouldn't
>UniTwi got an asspull powerup to defeat Chrysalis when that bug queen was able to defeat a fuckin alicorn princess
>The decreasing comic sales proves that the readers got tired of Curnow's bullshit
They still sell around 15-25k a month for each issue. Sorry, but this fandom is full of IDWankers that don't understand shit quality.
Twi's powerup was justified as Twilight's being able to use the comet's power much better than Crysalis because of her lifetime of magic studies.
Not a brilliant explanation, but it was something anyway.
Curnow even said that we should give up about reporting mistakes because they will keep happening no matter if we like them or not.
Shills and whiteknights constantly call us "autistic losers" to try downplaying the critics' value.
That means a group of autistic losers are more competent that their beloved Bobby-Sama, so if they were trying to whiteknight him, they only managed to shoot their own feet and making Bobby look way worse.
Meanwhile the artist of pic related will never get another comic because she isn't professional like Fosgitt
A lot of those were zonked-out ponies the regular changelings had brainwashed into HURRDURR levels of stupid.
(Derpy gets cocooned and duplicated because apparently, her ah-"unique" state of mind wasn't responding to the usual methods.)
"Thank you for reading as long as you did, it is appreciated. Beyond that, I don't think anything I can say will sway your opinion and any disagreement I have with your assessment will just come off as defensive. Hopefully if you hear about a storyline that sounds interesting you will consider returning to the series, but I understand if you don't."- Bobby Curnow on people saying they've stopped reading
" But I do know for a fact that the amount of mistakes in the book have gone down dramatically since the first year, when we were still getting a feel for the property."
Does anyone feel the exact opposite? That they made fewer mistakes during the first year?
When you're seeing stuff like tiny copies of text bubbles copypasted into a panel they have no reason being in or the aforementioned stuff with the current issue?
No. Just as bad if not worse than before.
>amount of mistakes in the book have gone down dramatically since the first year
then why do these kind of mistakes still happen? is he delusional or just oblivious?
>A lot of those were zonked-out ponies the regular changelings had brainwashed into HURRDURR levels of stupid.
Why fuckin bother? And if they did do that, why didn't they just brainwash the Mane 6 and declare victory?
>Twi's powerup was justified as Twilight's being able to use the comet's power much better than Crysalis because of her lifetime of magic studies.
So what you're basically saying is that a plot device gave Twilight the asspull powerup needed to deux ex machina. Thanks for that.
