Can someone explain music to me? Like how is it enjoyable? Why listen to an "album" when you could listen to a "single" or watch a film? What makes a song a song? Is there really much difference between a guitar and a piano? Please help thanks
Everybody knows dubstep is a fucking abomination, but every music genre has a least something kind of good.
Post good dubstep here.
Out of all the music from the late 90s to mid 2000s like Def Jux, Rhymesayers, Anticon, etc, it seems like MF Doom came out the biggest (unless you want to argue el-p in rtj). It seems like people can know who MF doom is and not any of his contemporaries. When did MF Doom become this household name? Was anyone here around at that time? I'm only 21 but I started listening to that kind of hip hop around 07.
He definitely isn't, and the only people who recognize the name are people into hip-hop to the point where they've at least heard the names of underground/indie rappers.
Artists from the 90s/00s that are more well known:
he is the most well known out of his peers. I'm talking about aesop rock, cannibal ox etc. Common started way before and was well known by the mid 90s. Kanye and eminem both started in similar positions in the rawkus crowd, but ended up going with a completely different trajectory. Mf doom is making similar music today as he was 15 years ago.
Was he the Thomas Pynchon of music?
Looking for essential dub. Help ya boi out /mu/.

tripcode is still banned until 11 EST
How is everyone doing today?

Sgt. Pepper's is the best Beatles album, Nirvana's Nevermind is a phenomenal album that is one of the top ten greatest 90's albums, and Kendrick Lamar is a fantastic hip hop artist.
This may very well be the worst album I've ever heard in my entire life. Bravo, Blur. Bravo.
alright /mu/, Lamb of god/deafheaven/anthrax are playing the same night as yo la tengo, which show should i go to?
ITT: roast the album above you
