I owned this album AMA
So did I. And I played the shit out of Crazy Taxi on Dreamcast and would eat Cheetos and drink soda while shitting my pants to the cool Offspring tracks in the game while I fly through the cool air of the San Francisco streets.
godtier band, but just because you own an album I can google, listen to on spotify, illegally download, buy a physical copy and even more ways of access doesn't make you AMA worthy
Obviously "We're Only In It For The Money" is a response to what Zappa perceived as a falsified bastardization of genuine innovation and introspection that the Beatles were leading with the hippie movement, and specifically with Sgt Pepper, but "Let's Make the Water Turn Black" specifically reads as a direct dig at the sort of glorifiedd nostalgia that was so prominant on Sgt Pepper, where things from the past are re-explored through a dream like exploration that ends up romanticizing reality for the sake of giving it "higher meaning"...

I've never really thought of We're Only In It for the Money having specific connections to Sgt. Pepper's aside from the cover - I've always found it to be pretty specific to California in it's commentary of both the hippie culture and anti-hippie measures and attitudes
Vote for the best St. Vincent album:
Continued from last time. If you didn't vote yet, vote now. I need 500 votes; 206 so far.
Tell me about Doom. Why does he wear the mask?
Hey guys, I let my grandad listen to Radiohead and now he thinks he's Thom Yorke. Help!
Pic related: It's my Grandad.
What do you think about Adele?
Is her popularity justified?
Yeah I think she deserves all the popularity. Her songs are nice and catchy, even though they are slow.
She also doesn't have to announce her new single in advance or anything like that, and still stays just as popular. thats nice
I know /mu/ hate fun., but have you guys give this album a shot?
