Dark Ambient thread?
What are your favorites?
ITT: Fuck you, i liked it
why doesn't /mu/ like blues based music?
I do. Just not watered down white boi blues by spoiled rich kids on drugs.
Is there an essential rock chart?
Any subgenres; metal, shoegaze, whatever
Also Scaruffi's all time favourite rock albums are basically the essentials.
Post an album you like, and tell us what you like about it.
I'll start. This album is nice, reminds me of a nice girl I know.
I like this record for its consistency. It uses a wide, wide range of odd sounds but they all work together nicely.
I like that album for its melodies. Holy hell, those melodies. Especially for simple pop music, the melodies are God-tier.
Im listening to this right now I always forget how good it is. Might be my favorite female vocals on an album.
I've been listening to a lot of ambient and generally instrumental music lately and through a jamming session with some friends, I want to try and get into making electronic music as well.
For example, from Ghosts I-IV by NIN:
Where the fuck do I start? How does the process go, which instruments do I use and how can I experiment with stuff like this? Obviously not as good and full-fledged as Trent Reznor itself makes it, but a start.
Where do I go from here? I have 0 musical experience besides playing flute as a kid.
Hey /mu/, can you recommend me some good female only bands/artists that isn't Björk? Thanks in advance
If an entire band was playing out of conventional tuning, but they were still in tune relatively to each other, I think almost no listeners would even notice it.
Would you agree with me?
If you aren't listening to Mingus I really have no idea what you're doing tbhfam

>If you aren't listening to Mingus I really have no idea what you're doing tbhfam

what are your 2016 kpop favorites?
So at what point will we admit that /mu/'s first reaction to this album was embarassing to the point of making this community seem like pasty /pol/ crossposters?
do you know all the notes of your fretboard?
If so, any tips of teaching yourself the other strings besides E A and high E?
I really want to read music better.
Haven't fully mastered it yet, but I feel like I am pretty damn close to it. When it comes to learning and memorizing this shit, even my teacher said that there are no shortcuts for this one. It's something that comes with tons of practice and time.
RAAAAIIIIIIIN DOOOOOWWWWN RAAAAAAIIIIIIN DOOOOOOOWWWWN
>society claims to be secular
>pop music is obsessed with theological themes
anyone care to explain this?
What is your problem with the acronym EDM? Sure its expansive and the music within as varied as all rock but as an umbrella like rock, it works fine.
>Electronic dance music (also known as EDM, dance music, club music, or simply dance) is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres made largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals. EDM is generally produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs) who create seamless selections of tracks, called a mix, by segueing from one recording to...

Because "edm" is a way for normies to comfortably generalise all dance music in a negative way, it makes people think of dance music as the slim comercial range of sound that's actually marketed as "edm". People should know the difference between house and techno at this point.
