Let's talk James. Best album?
no fuckin contest
Can somebody explain to me how people dislike swans because of an rape accusation
but proceed to still support hip hop which is an whole genre based on rapping about stuff they never did.
Pic related for me.
Meta-modern from 2014 was better imo, but Sturgill Simpson simply can't do no wrong.
Rick Alvin has been making brilliant AnCo inspired music for a years now (used to record under Alvin Band), but now with Lady Portrait he has finally out AnCo'd, AnCo.
This is what Painting With should have been.
>band has fart noises in a song
>band is leftist
>band has a token girl singer
>2 and a half weeks
How are you holding up?
>walks into milkbar
>taps on counter and orders drink
>walk over to the jukebox
>takes out coin sack
>AHHH FRANKIE SINATRA
Everything after Etoh sounds very disorganized, as if it's all just one last track that progresses to a new theme to another.
For some reason there's nothing repeated enough or developed around one basic thing and it moves from one thing to a next pretty quickly. Extra kings could have been developed a bit more rather than just going for a fade out too.
for pic related it's Pixies
Why is this board the worst?
Alright /mu/, I'm a classical musician who's pretty much only listened to classical music his entire life. It didn't happen intentionally, I just kinda already had classical music for every situation, and there's so much of it to go through, etc etc.
Directed by Ryan Wyer, aged 12
Pretty gud track
I liked it.
waht did you think of midnight marauders though?

An experiment in a pen-and-paper composing general, made for all the theory autists
This differs from /prod/ in that it is more focused on art music and music theory. That is not to say /prod/'s electronic music is unwelcome, by all means, post here! But follow in the footsteps of the classical composers of the 20th century who experimented in electronic music. But remember, this is NOT /classical/. Any art music, such as jazz, is acceptable
Post clyps and accompanying notation so we can accurately critique your composing from a theory perspective

Do you think Andrew W.K. is the second coming of Christ?
Why or why not?
Do you agree with this guy's points about Gorillaz, genres and music overall?
I would, definitely. I think a lot of Gorillaz' music doesn't hold up to me after digging deeper into alternative music, but I've got a lot of respect for what they've done to change the public's mindset and to open the door to deeper listening experiences. I can say for certain I would never have gotten into all the weird shit I like now if not for Demon Days.
Great write up and some fantastic editing too.
Like the anon above me said, I don't think a lot of their stuff really holds up as well for me now, however, I'm incredibly thankful for shit like Clint Eastwood, Double Bass, November Has Come, etc. Their stuff really served as a gateway to some of my favorite music, and I'm sure most people feel the same way.
Really enjoyed Jaimie's quote about Gorillaz being a "kids band". I had resented that as a kid, but in retrospect...

>I recommend everyone check out this guy's other videos. From the titles and thumbnails, they all look like basic-level analysis and general wankery of popular media (Nerdwriter1), but they're actually very thoughtful, entertaining, and incredibly well-made. There's not much of them, give them a shot, he's criminally underrated.

Name my band /mu/
>People typically have trouble affiliating the band to a specific genre to describe them, since they bridge so many. However, many fans (and themselves to a degree) have labeled their genre as "Schizophrenic pop" (also known as Schizoid pop), a technically unofficial subgenre of pop.
Because their fans seem to think crippling mental illnesses are cool since people with perceived mental illnesses garner so much attention.
We're dealing with tweens here m8, remember that
they're just rappists who want to be super-pop accessible by having catchy melodies and singsongy choruses. if they were strictly hip-hop they wouldn't appeal to white suburban middle school girls (and their parents with the monies) and if they were sticty pop they wouldn't be edgy and wouldn't be taken seriously. it's all a recipe.
What did Pitchfork mean by this?
>it's a nu-male tries to silence freedom of speech and deport opinions he doesn't agree with post
What are some other albums that were ACTUALLY innovative and really influential
