Why is Sigur Ros lumped in with all the other cliche post rock bands? The only way Sigur Ros is in anyway similar to those other bands is that they sometimes use crescendoes and have instrumentals. Sigur Ros is far more progressive and interesting than bands like Explosions in the Sky or This Will Destroy You.
Also why does the vast majority of post rock suck? 99% of it is just melancholic guitar noodling with lots of open notes involved and crescendoes. I mean some of it's pretty good but it gets way too familiar after after awhile.
Explosions In The Sky and This Will Destroy You are both the equivalent of pop bands within the genre.
The crescendo-core blandness you're describing is mostly prevalent in the 3rd wave, there's good stuff in all three imo but if you want to avoid that style altogether stick to first and second wave post-rock
>Also why does the vast majority of post rock suck? 99% of it is just melancholic guitar noodling with lots of open notes involved and crescendoes. I mean some of it's pretty good but it gets way too familiar after after awhile.
because everything interesting that can be done with a guitar has been done before.
Prove to me that it isn't Pic Related, anons.
this album isn't half bad, nice instrumentals, singing is solid and lyrics are a little juvenile but they're relatable
thoughts on it?
What bands has vidya gotten you into, mu?
Pic related had an awesome soundtrack, and finger eleven is solid nu-funk
I think the only thing video games have gotten me into music wise is ambient music.
But that's because when I was a kid I used to go to the options menu in shit like Eternal Ring (?) and have the looping menu music on in the background.
Shit like this is pretty amazing imo, it has that rough vidya nineties feel and manages to capture the safe but eerie atmosphere of the situation very well.
Of course that's completely outdone by Silent Hill's ost.
I kinda knew of The Offspring before this, after playing the shit out of it I would be completely comfortable putting them in my top 10 and I owe it all to this game.
Dude, that album got me into The Offspring as well. I knew them before because of Pretty Fly For A White Guy and all, but that album solidified my love for them. Ixnay On The Hombre is a god-tier album.
I never did like Bad Religion though.
Daily reminder this actually happened
What are some good albums to play when you're feeling lonely and sorry for yourself and you just wanna lay in your room and daze off?
ITT: albums men will never understand.
ITT: post indisputable facts about popular music. Pic related.
Favorite album from your birth year
How much music have you anons pirated?
Pic related, all that music has been pirated.
probably around 100gb but stopped like 10 months ago, its hard to download shit since i got paranoid about bitrate and lossless shit, i just stream shit or buy it, rather buy an album i really like than download tons of shit i will never care about
What David Bowie album do I listen to if I like Under Pressure?
I got this and it wasn't really what I wanted.
The worst part of Art Angels, if you can single out just one, is that Grimes ruined the best track she ever made.
/mu/ can you recc me some sad/emotional electronic music?
Holy fucking shit.
The album cover put me off, but I think this may be one of the best things I have ever listened to.
Why is this a 5.3 on pitchfork
>The album cover put me off
I actually really like the cover of this album
But yeah, it's a great one IMO
