Did you like it /mu/?
Has rap always been secretly the most ironic genre ever? I mean look at it throughout history, with it's main subject being violence sex and drugs; look at the gold chains, the gangster attitude, all this stuff that you'd never see normal people doing unless you lived in the ghetto or something. It makes me wonder how much of what they do is actually just for some long running ironic joke, like "haha look at these fools thinking this is what we're actually like". Can someone confirm this?
>Implying they're not self aware and playing a joke on all of us
We know soulja boy is. We know lil b is. Waka Flaka Flame? Keef Chief? Let's not even get into talking about specific rappers, let's just talk about rap as a whole. I want to know if there is some pervasive post ironic joke in rap that I am just not aware of.
What did /mu/ think of this? I heard old school jazzfags were triggered because not muh jazz and it's unrealistic and shit. Of course it's unrealistic, it's a fucking movie.
hi /mu/, so i've been wanting to put this up here for a bit to get some feedback but i was a scared of how big the new asshole you would tear me would be, but now im just sayin fuck it. this is the video my band put out for a single we recorded and did a little tour on recently, just trying to see what you guys think. https://youtu.be/JlV-G4tJ27c
What does he listen to?
JESUS FUCK THE ELECTRIC MILES THIS IS FUCKING AWESOME
I never see them discussed here
Mine is pic related followed really closely by Ende Neu
And favorite period is Haus der Luge-Ende Neu
Recommend music that feels sophisticated, with an elegant, modern artsy feeling
Pic related. Actress is another example.
What expectations do you have from Alice Glass' debut album? It should be dark as Stillbirth or poppier like Grimes's new album?
Is life too short to bother with unappreciated albums/artists?
Are you a faggot if you just listen to Rolling Stones top 500 albums because you just want to hear 'good' music and can't be bothered doing extensive digging of your own?
no anon, there's nothing wrong with not liking music enough to explore it
plenty of people get through their entire lives listening to nothing but the most known and acclaimed new releases and podium-bait oldies
I'm sure you can too
This is just a theoretical question btw. I DO try to discover new and obscure stuff. But for the most part I just listen to highly rated shit on RYM. I haven't even begun to scratch the surface of popular 'good' music, so every time I wander off the sort of "reddit-core" great albums I feel like I am wasting time. Like how the fuck do I even get started with discographies by The Beatles or the Rolling Stones. There's just so much quality stuff.
What are some good english paki/indian musicians besides jai paul and m.i.a.?
