>death pop / electroclash / vocals are taken from cassettes of kids yelling in the 80s
This is really good so far, wish it was pay what you want though!
Can /mu/ recommend some exotic music? Romanian, japanese, tribal, south-american, anything you like. I feel this could make an interesting thread.
I shall contribute
Desert blues, exotic take on a classic form
sick cuban music
Traditional music from my country (NZ)
When will /mu/ finally learn that techno, house, breakbeat, industrial, ambient, disco, ràp, ambient etc are their own distinct genres like rock, country or jazz?
They all have different histories, influences, stylistic origins, compositional structures and different instruments with a multitude of different styles, subgenres and intentions.
Is the distinction really that important? Granted, Electronica and Eletronic music don't tell us much, but when someone says "IDM" or "EDM" you at least have somewhat of an idea what they are talking about.
>Is the distinction really that important?
Of course it is, imagine there never being a thread about shoegaze, emo, 3rd wave post-rock, thrash or black metal ever again on /mu/, only rock generals.
Gonna start a share thread. Here ye go.
Giuseppe Ielasi & Howard Stelzer - Night Life
I wanted to hear it, and it was a pain to find. Now in the archive. Share anything you want, preferably anything sort of obscure. Obviously.
I'll share this one again, people should definitely check this one out
Shackleton - Discography
>band from 1998-2001 featuring a couple members that went on to form Thee More Shallows, most of the tracks from two albums (The Inland Mile and Aeroplanes), an EP and songs from compilations
>dreamy indie rock, slowcore, Thee More Shallowscore
so so so good
and if you're looking for obscure stuff, here's some noise I ripped recently - kinda weird stuff but I definitely enjoyed it
Genital P-Orange - Recycled
>noise, sound collage, a bunch of neat sampling and sources mixed with various amounts of noise
>Chef Boyardee samples within the first 10 seconds so you know it's good
there's some noise in the second track from the player, I might try and rip it again to fix that
ITT: Post a genre you don't like or don't understand, and others rec you music to get into said genre.
Feminist punk music is fucking great
I am loving this movement.. it only makes sense, men had their turns in the 70's-80's and it was bullshit. But with women, the struggle is real and the message is clear.
If you could sleep with any album cover, which one would it be?
ITT: People that you want to see do a Red Bull Music Academy lecture.
This motherfucker right here. I could listen to him ramble for hours on end.
I love James but it'd pretty much be an hour of "like, you know..." I'd still watch it for the humor though
Fuckin A. He actually did something really similar to a RBMA lecture before for Frieze Projects NYC where he goes over the influence of medieval chant on 80s music and his own. I think the 2nd half of it has video on youtube too
can you get fast shoegaze?
and im not talking sunbather kinda blackened shit
just like shoegaze, but ...faster
Forget the Night Ahead by The Twilight Sad is technically a shoegaze album
One of the few shoegaze albums that I actually really enjoy and one of the major reasons for that is exactly because it's not as dull and lifeless as most shoegaze is, it actually has some speed and energy
Could be what you're looking for
What is the worst music-related opinion you've ever heard from someone?
ITT: Artists known only for their looks.
they only reason he's famous is because he's black
Are there any videogame soundtracks /mu/ considers worth listening?
This one and pic related. Solar Fields did it
There are a lot of video games with great music, but not a lot of great video game soundtracks if that makes sense.
Not many soundtracks that you could listen to on their own from start to finish on top of my head.
Fallout 2, Grim Fandango, Unreal Tournament and the Tropico soundtracks
So how does /mu/ feel about the fact that there's going to be a real ass vaporwave festival?
>The only people that are going to go are faggots, so I don't care at all.
its on a mall. What they will do?? Prohibit people to enter the mall?? Close the mall to do an private show??
The good thing is that this will force people to discover vaporwave.
requesting: maximum security- alien sex fiend
head machine - orgasm
>60s psychedelic underground, the only band album
The World Ends: Afro Rock and Psychedelia in 1970s Nigeria
>Afro Rock, Phychedelic Rock, African, Funk
It's on soulseek, but i can upload it to MEGA if you want?
Sleater-Kinney - No Cities To Love
>indie rock, punk rock, Carrie Brownstein
Amason - Sky City
>indie pop, swedish
