When are people going to get bored with music that's a combination of guitar, bass, drums and vocals? It's all the same shit with different colored sprinkles.

where were you when lp9 aoty confirmed
if you're implying that's gonna happen because that's what happened with painting with you're wrong. the only positive reaction painting with got here was for less than an hour after its release with a few anons raving about it probably after they only got up to Vertical in the album. Within a day the opinion was more negative than positive. The pitchfork and fantanny reviews made it worse, that's for sure, but the response wasn't nearly as positive
Who are Shield Anvil and Mortal Sword? I've heard rumors that they're members of another metal band. This would explain their mysterious anonymity, and how they managed to come out of nowhere, produce the single greatest atmospheric black metal album of all time and then disappear just as quickly without taking any credit. Are there any /mu/sicians with info on Caladan Brood's identity and if they'll ever make another album?
do you really think you'll get a good response here?
and I have no idea despite loving their music, I'm sure that they are in other bands that are known, start with black metal out of Utah, if you can find a band with vocals similar to the vocals from Caladan Brood you've probably found one of them.
but it's different now that i'm poor and aging...

So, with Death Grips and Radiohead taking all the attention this week, I haven't seen this album talked about here, and James Blake seems to be pretty well-recognized in /mu/.
What did you guys think of it? I liked it a lot.
It was raining here the day it dropped and I listened to it on my commute to work and back.
Enjoyed the first half.
Need to relisten to the second half because on the commute home I had diarrhea and could barely focus the drive home, let alone James Blake
Phenomenal album, honestly might be the best of the big three this weekend. I enjoyed it the first time, but I'm now giving it my undivided attention and it's dark in my apartment so this feels really intimate. It has a dark tone but has some beautiful and bright moments too, something James Blake has tried to improve I think. This album will reward those patient enough to take it all in a couple times.
Looking stuff similar to pick related.
Never thought I'd come to /mu/ for anything, much less advice, but I dunno where to start.
So today I got this old keyboard from my uncle today. It's a Yamaha PSR-500, made in 1991. Not that it matters, but it's been in my family for AT LEAST 15 years. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he bought it brand new. Anyway, the pic is the same keyboard. It has 100 old-school sounding MIDI instruments, 12 track memory settings, a pitch altering switch, and a bunch of other features I don't know shit about.
Now, here's the idea: I wanna make music with it. Like a bunch of weird onestop.mid-type shit, maybe some video game inspired music since it sounds like an oversized Nintendo 64. But like I said, I have no idea where to start. I found some USB to MIDI interface devices for pretty cheap, but I don't know if I need anything else.
TL;DR -- I want /mu/ to help me be a shitty Grant Kirkhope impersonator.
(Here's Yamaha's web page for my instrument: http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalkeyboards/portable_keyboards/psr500/)
Watch this video series:
There's a few different ways you could record, I personally would just get a cheap audio interface and plug the yamaha into an xlr input. There's other ways you can go about it, but that's just what I would do. Good luck op.
Christianity is stupid
Communism is G.O.O.D

every time I see that manic street preachers album with the fat guy it reminds me of hold onto id but I don't know why
I bought a Fulltone OCD overdrive pedal the other day brand new and it isn't working? I have a Vox AC15 and the fucker won't even turn on? It sure as hell isn't the way I connected it.
I'm so happy
We've had such an awesome week for music. BP, The Colour In Anything and AMSP. It makes me very optimistic for what's in store and I'm glad to be alive right now. That being said, discuss your favorite thing that came out this week.
That's good, OP. I feel happy for you :)
Why is this song so good? I listen to it every night before I sleep cos it's so chill.
Anyone have more stuff like it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqWcCJKVHhk
The night is /dark/ and full of horrors! It's time for another /dark/ thread: Industrial, Gothic Rock, Dark Synthpop and Witch House all welcome!
Figured someone might know what I'm talking about. There's this guy who created an ambient album in chernobyl, rang the album through certain places like a swimming pool or a hospital, then recorded it again. It was real spooky and I cannot for the life of me find it. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
>The Sun has fallen out of orbit and is going to crash into the Earth. Humanity has randomly chosen people to enter an underground nuclear shelter with enough food and provisions for the next 50 years until the Earth is habitable again, luckily you were picked.
>You are allowed to bring three non-compilation albums with you.
Which ones do you choose?
>the sun is going to crash into the earth
>for the next 50 years until the earth is habitable again
>Oasis: Whats The Story Morning Glory
>Radiohead: OK Computer
>Coldplay: A Rush Of Blood To The Head
But I'll download music on my phone 2bh before that.
also the sun would destroy the earth
I know the dude died and everything but I'm sorry this shit is straight garbage. Shit bars + shit beats + obnoxious repetition = the worst album I've heard in a very long time.
Heres an ancient chart of mine
OP, do you have RYM?
Jim Orourke - Bad Timing
Arthur Russell - World of Echo
Nick Cave - Boatmans Call
Hans Joachim Roedelius
The Sunny Street
Salon Music - MASH

so /mu/, where do you fall?
>Total failure at life
>Have done nothing in 25 years (a fifth of a century, ample time for countless people to change the world, but I did nothing productive in)
>Too late to learn an instrument, become an author, or learn to paint anything other than corny landscapes because you can only get connections when young
>Doomed to be a wageslave until I either die of natural causes or kill myself
>Too old to get a gf or friends,...

Of these three albums, which would be best to kill myself to?
I listened to Medúlla and I fell in love with Björk.
I need the cure, fast.
Any other great albums from this year so far?
Can we have a neon city vibes recommendation thread?
