Hey /mu/ who are your favorite outsider artists? What are some obscure albums you think deserve more recognition?
i have an essay due tomorrow where I gotta compare 2 songs by different artists. Anyone got any songs similar to purple haze???
gotta both be from late 60s, prob shoulda mentioned
this was my original thought but what to compare? all they really got in common is certain structural elements and fuzzy guitars
I'm trying to into metal. So far I've listened to Sunbather and that album was absolutely fantastic. I've also listened to The Mantle by Agalloch which was really good. But I don't know how metal they are. What are some good metal albums to get started on in the genre?
Remember that time David Byrne wore blackface?
Industrial 10/10s only
Put simply, I believe it is the result of White nationalism, sexism, and xenophobia--three deadly components of the right's backlash against multicultural trends in U.S. society. As Richard Rorty prophetically wrote in 1998: "[S]omething will crack. The nonsuburban electorate will… start looking around for a strongman to vote for—someone willing to assure them that, once he is elected, postmodernist professors, tricky bureaucrats, and overpaid bond salesmen will no longer be calling the shots… [T]he gains made in the past forty years by black and brown Americans, and by homosexuals, will be wiped out. [C]ontempt for women will come back into fashion. The [words nigger]… and [kike] will once again be heard in the workplace… All the resentment which badly educated Americans feel about having their manners dictated to them by college graduates will find an outlet... And people will wonder why there was so little resistance to his evitable rise."
>Long psychedelic blues rock
Did Scaruffi listen to the music before reviewing?
lets chat and shit

/mu/ I need your help. I heard a song the other day that I liked, but I didn't catch the name of it. I know for sure it was Thom Yorke singing it, but I dont know if it was a solo song, radiohead, him being featured, etc. It sounded a bit more upbeat and poppier than most Radiohead stuff, and the hook had a line that was something similar to "We're so alike" or "you and I are so alike"
I notice people saying this about Sufjan a lot. Why?
Anyone else absolutely sick of the shameless waifuism plaguing this board? It's not even just in the case of women, whenever there's a thread about a man there's still creepy shit posted in the name of 'irony' or 'satire' and it's just kind of unecessary. why can't we talk about music without mentioning how you want to drink Hayley William's bath water, jizz on Lavren's face or get the ol grime grime. Fucking weird virgins here I swear
my waifu goes where i go
we are inextricably bound by the glory of marriage and love
i'm sorry you haven't found your special waifu yet, but i believe you will
The language of the birds...

>Because the world is round it turns me on
What did they mean by this?
I figured it to be some type of "the world is beautiful" thing. Just the fact that it's round is like "whoa dude, the world is totally round and that's so beautiful man". The whole song other than the generic love interlude is about the world being so powerful it creates strong emotions in the singer's heart just from the way it exists.
You know, hippie shit.
HI FOLKS. I'd Like to share with you my CHART! When people ask me my music taste, I don't say a genre, I just say "I like ALL kinds of music." /r/indieheads said I had a great taste in mucic, how much more indie could you get???? Some of this stuff may be 2 obscure 4 u, but that's because I ONLY listen to obscure music. Give me attention.
ITT: Angry, liberal/anarchist, music to deal with Trump's presidency.
(this one is not dark, btw, still awesome)
got your dark and your electronic right here. dunno bout ambient though.
4x4, 7x7, and everything in between thread, last seven days
when you just can't let go...
real polymaths are traditionalists and theocrats
Has /mu/ actually attempted to listened to this album the way it was intended?
Why are stereo mixes from so many 60s songs so crappy? If you can only make that you have one instrument on each channel tHan leave it mono. Pic not related, but couldn't find a pic for Disraeli gears on my phone
There is no singing, just talking. The whole album is just funky beats under a boring man talking nonsense. Why do people praise it?
Great taste, I've been looking for something similar to SA for a while but nothing that quite nails the vibe apart from a few random songs by artists that otherwise don't make those sounds.
Magic Lantern, the band Cameron Stallones was in before creating Sun Araw, is kind of in the same vein but not as good imo.
i don't have any recs but i just wanted to say that sun araw fucking rules
Thought on this song?
There has not been a single decent album in 11 months. Is 2016 the worst year in the history of music?
Is it bad to just listen to a small selection of music over and over?
