Recently got into Bowie. Previously I had assumed it was just normie trash. But after listening to some of it and then getting to this album I realized how fucking perfect this album is. Like holy shit it's probably just my taste but goddamn I love it. Plus the music videos that go along with it are 11/10.
Any albums/artists you weren't expecting to love?
Improvement over Bleach? or shameless sell-out?
>implying Kendrick is that much better than Earl Sweatshirt
not putting down Kendrick at all but so many people put him on a pedestal after TPAB just because of the content of the lyrics
there's not much he does in particular that's all that much better than someone like Earl, Vince Staples, or Danny Brown, so why all the hype for Kendrick, what am I not getting?
He can put a hell of an album together and has talented people backing him
You think TPAB would've happened without the live jazz/funk performers jumping in on the Kendrick hype? No. Earl doesn't have that.
He does everything a rapper can do right while maintaining a mainstream appeal
Not my favorite but definitely up there for me, and he's definitely the most prolific rapper of the current times, comparable to Eminem
Albums /mu/ recommended that you really did not like
Really corny prog with a bunch of forgettable tracks and a silly concept.
Alien Rap: Songs About Life on the Planet Glumph is so ahead of it's time. The instrumentation is legendary because it's a sound that's not even from this planet. All the lyrics have meaning, and thwy speak to the listener. It tells a story, and really captures the listener. 10/10 no doubt.
This is the greatest album of all time, prove me wrong
The First Rape in Space is so ahead of its time. The instrumentation is legendary because it's a sound that's not even from this planet. All the lyrics have meaning, and thwy speak to the listener. It tells a story, and really captures the listener. 10/10 no doubt.
itt: its 2004
Has there ever been a bigger collab hip hop album than Kendrick and J Cole's coming out next month? WATTBA doesn't count because that was by singing niggas
hey guys, what do you think of "the knife"?
any favourite songs/albums?
and please don't start bitching about their feminst attitude, i just want to talk about music.
favourite songs: the captain, heartbeats, this is now, reindeer
What's so feminist about their attitude?
I like deep cuts and silent shout. And this other song about pigeons cuz the it has that atmosphere. Its like your watching a movie about a great empire in its glory.
i just know that some tards on 4chan always start bitching about feminism and so on and the knife are definitely a feministic band. but which pigeon song do you mean? "colouring of pigeons"?
They're excellent to the highest degree. Silent Shout is one of the best recent synth pop albums. "A Tooth for an Eye," "Without You my Life Would be Boring," and "Heartbeats" are 10/10 tracks
Is the fact they're black the only reason I'm supposed to care about this?
That and it kind of is proto punk, and came out around or slightly before the ramones and was from Detroit.
The music is okay, but not even anything super important for its time.
If you like it, cool, does it deserve the recognition its gotten? Fuck no.
take your pick
My local rap station just played Jamie XX's Good Times. Wat does this mean?
I can't help but think that Mozart's ""Lacrimosa Dies Illa" is objectively the most exquisite, pristine, and powerful pieces of classical music ever orchestrated.
I cant deny that Mozart was possibly the most talented composer and even by a significant margin. I say possibly because he died as his career was seeing exponential growth, in the midst of his best work. However I think that altogether the development of music in the romantic era brought about a greater degree of expression and I think its a bit presumptuous to say music hit some sort of objective "peak" at the end of the 18th century. No doubt Mozarts music is beautiful but there are entire musical concepts missing from his repertoire. Personally I prefer Beethoven...
