I have a friend who is a fan of metal with folk influences.
I want to recommend him an album, but it needs to be something that is not too well known because he probably already knows about the well known ones. there are some albums i thought about recommending him btw, but i would like to hear what you guys have to suggest.
Can you give me fairly obscure metal album with folk influences that is also extremely good? (plz don't give me agalloch or ulver or things like that, he probably already know those. it needs to be fairly obscure)
Albums i already...

Last.fm is dead to me. The new site is almost totally unusable. No longer can I get recommendations like I used to. The similar artists feature has been gimped to death. I practically never use the site anymore, but I keep scrobbling anyway. I've given it plenty of time to stop sucking, but I've decided to give up hope. Is there anything I can move on to? Advice pls.
If you do, then this is a reminder that you should be participating in the weekly jazz blindfold test threads every Monday. As always, the opportunity is available for participants to put together a themed tracklist that we will all listen to.
This week's theme is piano trios. You can download the tracklist here:
For more specifics about how the threads work, please refer to the pastebin.
What album do you genuinely, honestly believe will last a thousand years from now? For me it's pic related, I don't think I need to explain why.
i doubt the species will even exist a thousand years from now,
>peeling an orange
music for this peel?
Try criticizing this song without sounding like a complete fedora

1. what music do you listen to when you want to feel intellectually and spiritually enlightened
2. what music do you listen to when you just want to satisfy your hedonistic urges and have fun
what about if you want to feel intellectually and spiritually enlightened AND satisfy your hedonistic urges?
New chart thread. old one is dead
be kind to one another. love you guys
++racoo-oo-oon, nana grizol
+circulatory system, olivia tremor control, anco, this heat, beach boys, can, yes, mount eerie, BMSR, nick drake
that racoo-oo-oon album is so awesome. cool to have at least one good band from my state.
man they're fantastic. make sure to check out their other albums. especially Behold Secret Kingdom. great band.
check out Sun City Girls. they were recc'ed to me the other day and I'm listening to Torch of the Mystics atm. almost reminds me of Raccoo-oo-oon in a way.
obviously ITAOTS wins on cohesiveness and consistency but OAI has several songs that are better than anything that appears on ITAOTS, both lyrically and instrumentally
if you take them both as collections of songs, OAI is quite a lot better imo, but obviously there is the overall cohesiveness of the album as a whole single entity to take into account, and in that department ITAOTS is pretty unmatched
so either one is a fair choice as far as i'm concerned
me personally i prefer OAI
If you use these labels but then break up rock and hip h0p into numerous subgenres you are pleb as fuck and need to kill yourself
ITT: Albums/bands you like, but the fans annoy the fuck out of you
Biggest future disappointments of 2016 General?
Post in this thread and listen to the album that corresponds with your last four digits. If they are over 3000, just use the last 1-3. For example, 4008 would be #8, 4088 would be #88 and #4888 would be #888.
Who the fuck does Fantano think he's kidding with this album? Literally no info anywhere else, no other reviews, no information on the artist nothing. How did he find the album and why is it so high up on his favorites list? I think he's just promoting a friend or something, seriously bizarre.
i just had a quick listen to a couple of tracks off the album and it sounds extremely amateur to me
if all of what you've said is true as well then yeah, there's a good chance that it's him promoting someone he knows
not the first time he's done something like this you know, he only gave CLPPNG a 9 because he knows the band members
