I am working on an essay about Haydn and how he advanced music history. Do any of you have any pointers or general facts about this?
He bridges the gap between the baroque and classical eras. No one single person "invented" the classical era, but he comes closest to being the person who did. He also helped popularize the sonata format and the symphony, iirc.
GOAT Folk/Slowcore musicians
Take a look at this. I never knew about this before and it was just discovered: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/395847/Daft-Punk-Face-to-Face-Kenny-Loggins-Return-to-Pooh-Corner/
What makes Daft Punk any different from these vaporwave/future funk fuccbois like Saint Pepsi?
They both pretty much do the same thing (take an old song, sample it, chop it, add a house beat) yet people praise Daft Punk as geniuses and disregard future funk as meme music. I don't get it.
is tonight the night
Can you name any albums that are as good, tight, and lyrically focused as this fucker? I can't but maybe my imagination is terrible.
Fuck me. I'm a terrible OP. Recommend me some albums that are like short punches to my stupid fucking face.
I'd highly doubt you haven't heard this but I feel it's relevant anyway
>This album is ridiculously long for a punk album
>Antoine Fantoine gave it like a 4 or something
>I haven't heard it yet
>I like Punk
What about you, /mu/? should I listen to it?
Hands up KPG
holy fucking shit guys
this album is incredible. thanks /mu/.
japan's greatest musical achievement and Tbh might be one of the 10 best records ever made. where do I go from here?
Listen to most of their discogrpahy, specifically Uchu Nippon Setagaya, Kuchu Camp, Neo Yankee's Holiday, Orange, then listen to >>61064500 (98.12.28 Otokotachi no Wakare). It's a really satisfying listen and has the best version of all their best songs, including Long Season.
Then cry because you'll never have it on vinyl ;_;
You have the ability to take any musician ever and create the best band of all time. Only catch: only one person from a certain band can be included. Who plays:
Vocals - Mark Hollis
Guitar - Robert Fripp
Bass - McCartney
Drums - Jaki Liebezeit
Keyboards - Herbie Hancock
Percussion - Steve Reich (and all the peeps on Drumming)
Wind - Freddie Hubbard
Tell me this wouldn't be amazing
ITT: Bands that are famous somehow
I don't understand why Bobb didn't just play bass on it, Beth is good but can't carry too much on her own.
I wish they never abandoned the two guitars + drum machine style of their first three EPs
Haven't seen one of these threads in a while
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FACE.

What's the most cringeworthy song of all time and why is it "In the Garage" by Weezer?
