Made a new /mu/core chart. I think The Getty Address should be listened to by /mu/. It's got the perfect amount of experimentation and pop songwriting for /mu/ to like or shitpost about
thats not how it works at all. i also wouldnt use that anco album (gotta make it merriweather, once again thats just the only correct choice)
probably the money store instead of exmilitary, get rid of american football and put in court of the crimson king, also trout mask replica should probably replace burial
ITT: albums that are so good that they should become memes
>I know I always said that I could never hurt you
>This is the very, very last time I'm ever going to
>I was doing fine without you
>Till I saw your face, no I can't erase
Went into this album after a really tough breakup, a lot of the lyrics really got to me. Not AOTY, but definitely top 5.
Rec > assume > rate
I like screamo
The Jim Yoshii Pile-up - It's Winter Here
fill in the blank
>tfw mu freaks out over the powers that b and it doesn't make a single year end list
I literally cannot take your taste in music seriously if you dislike this album.
I agree. People always dismiss this as radio rock brocore trash, but honestly, this is way, way better than that castroated hipster indie shit most of /mu/ listens to. Guess they'd rather hear themselves whining into a microphone and playing out of tune "ironically" than they would someone like Fed Durst and Wes Borland. At least Borland can play, and Durst actually talks about real shit, not "mai gf left me im craiing".
ITT: Albums you used to think were good but now realize are really a 1/10
Can we talk about this? For the number 1 rated album on RYM and a pretty critically acclaimed album overall, I rarely see it talked about around here. Maybe back in 2012-13 but not now.
Just got around to listening to it and I'm torn. There are some fantastic tracks (Paranoid Android, No Surprises, Climbing Up The Walls, Karma Police) and some really shitty tracks (Electioneering).
What do you guys think? Does it deserve its acclaim? Was Kid A better? Is it overrated?
what is the appeal of this?
it's just ambling pretentious noise with a thin veneer of "muh indeh" lo-fidelity. everything sounds terrible, including those clunky guitars.
it's too long as well. why is this considered good?
>what is the appeal of this?
Phil makes some really great songs and the album is all connected through the story it tells.
My Warm Blood always gives me feels desu, it's a pretty feelsy album
I wouldn't say it's pretentious and the clunky guitars sound really beautiful to me
Well, no. It doesn't sound terrible, it's just unconventional. Music has no rules, and this album does a good job at showing that. It adheres to the conventions of standard instruments, but uses them in a very unique way (both in terms of mixing as well as how they're played).
And no, I wouldn't argue that the album is too long. It keeps interesting dynamics going throughout the entire album, which is helped by the rather short tracks.
