whoever posted this tune a thread or two ago,
xoxoxo <3 xoxoxo
Honestly not sure. I have a playlist full of long mixes but I need to listen to that Jamie XX mix in order to get an idea of what you want.
You already replied to it though, the songs that captured the vibe best were
i.e. soulful vocal songs that aren't disco, and are girl appropriate
And I'm sorry mate but literally nobody listens to these playlists
the best track ive ever heard of this sound is rip groove,, no idea who its by but the first time i heard it on lsd i finally understood teh genre and no other songs compare to it
i mean i dont think youre that bad, ugly yes, but a bad poster---i dont really get the hate
but question since ive always wondered and i dont really like your taste in music (~90% of your rec's) - sounds like the type of house that only old, fat faggots would listent to
so: are your crowds mostly comprised of old fat faggots?
>implying you have a crowd
>are your crowds mostly comprised of old fat faggots?
Surprisingly not. People my age actually like the shit I play since trends seem to come back every 20 years. I guess people my age or at least here like that old school sound since it reminds them of the good ol' days or something. Who knows. Also the stuff I rec here is comprised mostly of the sound I like most which is that old school house flavor.
I play newer stuff as well. Like this:
Well it came out last year. I have had people tell me I'd be better off playing in San Francisco or Chicago.
This is a newer record I have that I got from Juno a couple months ago. This'll probably be considered old school style as well
sorry but most fans of "beats" on /mu/ are 16 year olds who subscribe to majestic casual and have a soundcloud where they post their fl studio presets "chill beats"
it's mostly bad anyway. easy listening meets nu-idm
lack of disco
Did anyone here get this?
I just missed getting the repress before it sold out because I was waiting for another release to come out that got delayed. Still a little sour about it. I'll just play out an HQ vinyl rip I have of it to compensate for now. Sucks.
What the hell is this guy going on about
you'll like these tracks then
La beat scene sounds really promising in theory but its potentially is mostly squandered by lazy stoners not putting in enough time and effort into their tunes because other lazy stoners will listen to it anyway and not care too much.
the reason is this >>48167710
haha ok, kidding. but cheers, i guess not many have said that type stuff to me. it'd be nice to have friends with similiar interests in music, feels a bit isolated here up north tbh
stop giving a fuck, that's what i did. it's quite easy at least in a country as reserved as finland to just go out there and skank the fuck out in the front row of mala or boddika gig. come to think of it i'm glad there were none of my friends around haha
that's too damn true, though there's always that one release once in a while that sparks the hope all over again
i don't give a fuck, like i dance etc. i'm just referring to the fact that everyone who seems to be into dance music are all very loud and in your face if you get what i mean. lots of of people who think they're the shit and look down on people as well.
maybe i'm just an idiot and rambling about stupid shit but yeah
no you're right. loads of extroverts get into dance music for the social aspect i guess. i'm super introverted but i wish i had people to go with who dont just get shitfaced and take selfies for their instagram all night
oh i see. guess it's a bit different around here, thank god small events for say bass music have really just that core music enthusiast crowd usually - it's only after a few good months or years that all wannabe scenesters latch onto things. kinda sad cause this year one of the biggest festival for techno and experimental music was canceled by the that already on the 2nd edition of the festival there was this weird vibe that a lot less people were in it for the music. dj playing left leg out and mc asking "who remembers this!?" to a miserable response, whereas crowd went mental to mala's set the 1st year around
>rambling about stupid shit but yeah
guess i'm doing the same here haha, but guess this is an relatable situation >>48167973
i guess i am, but more into the weirder lo-fi beats stuff maybe? the likes of dakim, knxwledge, mndsgn, ras g, radology crew... but i've bought a bunch of tapes with ambientish experimental vibes and some ttt/opal shit too. last one was the sofiabukarest tapes from this cool finnish diy cassette label:
I'm an introvert and I go out to music events all the time.
One thing I like about doing this is that you can get all the people you like in small doses which is always better.
Also going out alone is the best. You save money, don't have to babysit the people you bring with you and you can do whatever you want.
Yeah you summed it up well, that's pretty much how i feel. it's alright when your wrecked i suppose, but i've never met someone who loves going out but is also just laid back and not judgmental.
going out alone hasn't been a good experience for me.
the first time was when i volunteered at this festival alone and left the people i had met because they wanted to stay in the area playing shit music.
so i went off on my own and was coming up on mdma and it suddenly hit me i was all alone amongst thousands of people who were all in groups and i felt so anxious and started panicking like crazy.
despite being fucked, i spent the whole time dancing by myself and these shifty looking group of scousers were giving me dodgy looks because i think they thought i was a drug dealer and stealing their customers. lol.
Blawan's DJ sets are either great or horrendous, depends on his setlist and how much effort he puts in. He's a pretty poor DJ usually.
I'm tempted to go to Lovebox, temper the booze enough but let it flow enough to persuade companions to come to Ternesc after. Not gonna happen.
I only had the chance to see him twice here (italy), oncee alongside the analogue cops,2nd with pariah as karenn and was great both times
ternesc its not only blawan tho, anyway id expect him to put effort into his night lol
am I the only one that fucking hates groundislava? he has such a cool image so his music was promising but it's just shitty dance music. if it's supposed to be ironic it certainly doesn't come across that way...
thats a cool tune...pretty much the kind of /deep/ house sound that's coming back/coming up here in the states
i mean i like that sound, but i personally would listen to proper pounding techno in a club setting, but i am bias in that sense
anyway, like i said if thats your sound you'll probably find some great success this year and the next and the year after, so ride that wave-wont last forever
>?????????? ????????????, ??? HARDBASS ???? ????? ? ????? ???? ??? ????????????????
HARDBASS a shit
Some uptempo shit.
welp if you bought on redeye you wouldn't have this problem. can keep something in 'reserve' until you want to buy other records and ship them all together. although i guess for you the shipping from the UK would be expensive
new anthony naples EP is out on the trilogy tapes shop
along with rezzett - zootie
/bleep/ can you tell me what you think of my record label logo.
We are starting next month.
I know its shitty colours right now, its just a prototype but the design will remain the same.
It reminds me of the brown scene logo of defqon1.
so you're gay? spin out.
what the fuck.,
so its just a bunch of cocks to you guys?
i think i should change the design, i was just about to show this to the guy who's giving us the money.
hardly abstract when it is literally a blackmans dick.
if your name is woodman why not an actual little wooden man? done tastefully that could be cool. like mokujin he was cool.
nah but most of my gay friends constantly talk about cocks and cheese and shit and are posting pictures of things that look a bit like cocks on their fb pages with some words about how much they like wood or how much they like men or something
it does actually do my head in a bit i can't imagine what the world would be like if straight men did that as well but with vaginas instead
>oh look a vagina
actually my gf does that sometimes hmm
not at all. after that other guy pointed it out it was just obvious. if you're gonna have that as your official logo then expect people to comment on the fact that it looks like a dick
the fact that i can recognize a dick when i see one does not mean i crave it. it is not hard to see.
i'd say the one who is subconsciously drawing dicks, talking about men with wood & droppin the f word has got something to hide.
ok you got me, i am craving a long hard throbbing cock right now.
so are you though. you can feed of my addiction also.
we can give each our throbbing wood.
yeah no why don't you just stop with all this homo shit.
I don't even know why im posting anymore.
but thanks you faggots ill change the logo now.
it will still be called woodman records so keep an eye out for the debut 12". limited to 150.
we got something from DE in the pipeline too.
>fat old faggots
also known as the founders of dance music respect the roots you stupid shit.
yes chicago house is 100% /bleep/ vocal or not
you don't need to, but stfu. stop trying to say whether stuff is /bleep/ based on how cool and edgy it makes you feel. that's ignorant as fuck.
the track i posted has more musical depth than most tracks released today, if you can't get over some old (classic) drum sounds then you are a total pleb. i don't even care about buzzwords, you are a pleb.
>music for gay black man gagging for a cock at a gaybar
but that is /bleep/. get over it. go take your elitist fucking opinions over to black metal or something, i'm sure you'll fit right in.
all the stuff youve posted is related to these threads, definitely. house music is talked about here in all its different styles, apart from stuff like 'prog house' i.e all that edm/borderline-edm stuff
you the beta coming at a towering pipe hitting motherfucker like me with all that baby crying eltism
if you wanna go down that route i aint got no problem. i stick in any hole. ill choke ya with my meet. leave ya gasping. you want more.
yeh that's right. i shove it so far down ya throat youll end hacking up all that shit you been eating. slivering down my long rod.
while im still pounding ya. im the alpha so fucking cry like a bitch.
ill cut you deep. mentally.
what you think of ondu fudd?
or whatever it was.
i picked up chemotex, my neighbours got pissed at me for playing it lol. they came round saying they were sick of my noise.
idk i like it.
it always takes 20 years
anything 10 years old is uncool
but there's no reason why not (or at least some 'new' version of it will surface again), everything goes in roughly 20 year cycles basically
Yeah but I tend to read more manga for the last few years.
Only new things I am watching right now is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders and Space Dandy S2 (why people think this is bad when it is made specifically to be good looking mindless entertainment is beyond me). AOTY is likely to be Ping-Pong, great art direction, great OST, somehow managed to adapt an already great manga and improve on it with it's extra scenes.
Objective top 5 manga of all time:
Fist of the North Star
Lone Wolf & Cub
the original stuff will be
the modern rehash gimmick shite might be remembered, but not favourably. blawan's a hack.
where are today's equivalent of the 90s idm ppl? why is everybody making tunes that sounds like someone else? it'd be cool if there were some new fresh lads on the scene trying something new, but instead all anybody does is techno, house revivalism, "bass music", and the new FOTM microgenre shit
>Kowton / Asusu - More Games (MM/KM More Names Remix) / Too Much Time Has Passed (Dresvn Remix) [LIVITY013]
i think most of what happened to dubstep (bass music) was similar to idm in a lot of ways
if you think about how diverse that genre ended up being
idm wasn't really a cohesive thing, most of the people making it were raver kids sat around listening to dance tracks on acid at home so it took on all kinds of weird slants depending on what other records they had around for getting fucked up to
americans couldn't get their heads round europeans getting into dance music on their own terms (europeans understood house as it was happening in 86-89 because they already had synth pop before any of that and could relate to it), so in america it was branded idm as a way to make it seem less inferior than they thought black music was (due to subtle racism and homophobia)
as a brit in 94 i had a really fucking hard time explaining to white americans that i liked chicago and detroit music, they just wouldn't take it seriously
that's when you realise /bleep/ is doing nothing new
LadHouse is fresh innovative and making big moves and there will be many remembered classics.
like sweet like chocolate over again.
yeah it was ondo fudd, i've got that EP. really like it actually, i never really listen to it but i should
the chemotex is a bit far for me haha schrade knives is just a bit beyond too brutal
What, Marka? Still a tune yeah but I still think Dreadnaught is good. Shit was so massive when it came out, the B side and Icicle's LP that year was also amazing but got beaten out by Dom & Roland.
Incidentally I also think this is still huge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0XUULwxPyc
yeah when marka was floating about in mixes for what seemed like the whole year. everywhere i went that year including dubstep nights marka got rinsed.
aye. that dom & roland lp was sick, shame it was never put out on wax.
maybe some 12"s were but hey might have slipped under ,e.
is anyone doing dark maybe 'halftime' stuff like dubphizix in d&b anymore?
the halftime stuff is bigger than ever tbh. exit records is pretty much exclusively halftime-footwork crossover stuff now
seeing as i live in manchester though ive heard marka out so many times now to the point where it's not even particularly good anymore, which is a shame cos i used to absolutely adore that track
some of the tracks do, others still sound like dnb
Enei is doing some stuff sort of like Dub Phizix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONX4WoIASg0
There have been three EPs that came out on Exit this year which were quality, two of them had quite a lot of Juke influence though but they are still more like that sort of D&B.
I still haven't heard Emperor & Mefjus - Hello World EP but that might have some on it (it might be more Neurofunk though but it is on Critical). The comp that came out on Critical this year is also really good but not exactly like Dub Phizix though.
actually i do wonder whether there is a certain amount of ignorance necessary in order for things to be considered new
it seems like these days a record comes out and within 5 minutes people can describe it, even with little prior knowledge because of the history of everything being online, and people being able to share info in places like this
in a way all this sharing is making it harder for things to seem original, so a lot of people don't even bother
i might just be making excuses for it tho, i do feel like there's a lack of new ideas but every now and then i get surprised and think something's new, only to be told later that 'its just x genre'
that kind of reductive description lends itself well to the internet in its current form but also stops some people noticing the little details that make things unique
it's easy to dismiss things now, everyone's an expert in categorising and dismissing things
when you start thinking something is new that's technically putting it into a box because you're looking to give it another name from whats already out there.
genres should just be the track name.
aka don't worry about them.
nah i was being literal, i hear both tbh
i just think categorisation in general has a negative effect on people recognising originality
but like i say i still notice little original ideas in tracks so, i know it's out there, i just hope that the wider world can also tell, especially critics who these days often seem like a 15 year old who'd just been bingeing on wiki pages for a week
there was some piece in the quietus a few weeks back about the history of electronic music and it was like 80% factually wrong
anyway i'll shut up now, i'm preaching to the choir in here anyway
>How would you motivate your team before the game? What tunes would you have on in the dressing room?
>Zomby: I think it’d have to be a few inspiring jams like the DJ SS remix of 'Limb by Limb' by Cutty Ranks or ‘Valley of the Shadows’ by Origin Unknown. If at half time we were fading I'd drop ‘Original Nuttah’ by Shy FX or ‘Come To Daddy’ by Aphex Twin. After these recent England performances, after every game I'd stick on 'Hurt' by Johnny Cash.
>Why are England so permanently bad?
>Zomby: 1. Shit weed 2. A sense of regret before the event.
Nice to hear something a little familiar even though I think most of icicles stuff is shit.
Anyone looking forward to Technimatics new album ?
I know but that's the whole problem. I can't get too far away from 4/4 or else people say they can't dance to it.
Hell even jungle stuff people say that, I'm just like "wtf is wrong with you?"
honestly man i feel the same way as you kinda because the music i make has dance influences all over the place but it's at slower tempos and doesn't have a 4x4 beat normally
i feel like i could never really play it in a party/club setting
>people not being able to dance to jungle
i feel like something will eventually happen though
like how much longer can everyone just keep regurgitating old styles until something new happens
whats wrong with you
anything formulaic like big room house is bad. otherwise i don't really care. it's just different taste.
>caring about what type of people listen to a style of music
you are not an inner city black kid from london in the early 90s. stop listening to jungle.
p.sure your just thinking of disclosure anyway which is pop house.
