your daily /bleep/ thread
why is jeff mills such a god?
There are people who actually think aliens don't live among us
He's alright, not near god status as far as music making
Gods to me are:
Moritz von Oswald
was this picture of her posted here just recently?
return to disorder is good
i just bought a crate of about 80 speed garage records for a tenner off a random guy who came up to me in town because i was carrying a couple in a bag
does "12 inch thumpers" mean anything to anyone
here's a few
jesus christ lol they're all so hilarious, this was actually an alright buy. the guy was so sketch though, absolute greaseball and his house was falling apart
man i really need more dreamy dubbed out bedroom deep house like pic related. fuck these summery festival tunes.
I've been to a few old school nights that play old techno and hard house
You see all sorts of shady characters in there that range from 30-50 years old and absolutely off their tits, he was probably one of them.
What city were you in where you bought them>
yeah perhaps, no real need for it yet though really
did you have a decent time, though? can't say i've been to a night like that but i can picture exactly the kind of sweaty guys there
was in gloucester
here are some more for the true heads
Forget the exact phrase but it essentially meant shit posting. I guess it's because I say fam ;)
Hopefully that means all the actual shit posters from the last couple of days are banned too.
Oh well. What you boys listening to? Got that recent Flowdan EP on... although I really like it I am also generally disappointed by it. I guess I was hoping for tracks like Skeng and that one with Kahn. Solid release though.
yeah talking like you're from pecknarm or something is pretty gay
keep meaning to pick the new flowdan up but never do. listening to cheesy old hard house records that i bought from some weirdo, although in the crate i just pulled out the prodigy - fire / jericho lol, has a couple of remixes. LARGE ONE
Well I am actually from those ends lol
Yeah get on the Flowdan, it is definitely good but just not particularly special.
Nice1m8 - any good finds in the crate besides the prodigy?
oh for real, fairplay. will probably download it first even though anything hyperdub is cheap as hell. honestly not yet lmao, it's all pretty pants and really cheesy, see >>48833418 and >>48835594
although i've just found a tall paul record though
Seen people in here saying how important and new and fresh the stuff on 1080p is... can someone point me in the direction of that stuff? What I've heard of 1080p's output is definitely pretty good but nothing as revolutionary as some of the guys in here seem to think.
not that the neuroplop the other guy posted was good but this tune is so depressingly bad.
honestly, i can imagine some twat putting this on during a set and doing the jesus pose and singing along to that hideous diva shit.
awful, awful, music that i'd be embarrassed to hear in a gay bat even.
I'll pass man, don't think it will be any good.
Been listening to Regis - Blood Witness (Extended) on repeat recently. Anyone into Regis point me in the direction of more stuff like this? He seems to have a pretty extensive discography which in will work through eventually, but for now I just want bangers like this that make me wish I lived in the Mad Max universe.
nice implications you're implying there, m8. none were implied tho. watch me defend hackney parrot and trash this shit heap of a tune. fuck your screamin diva jungle heritage. i piss on it.
regis mostly just makes 'bangers', m8.
Cheers lads. I should've stated - I meant more specifically other releases / tracks by Regis that share this vibe. What little of his stuff I've heard hasn't been quite as stomping and post apocalyptic sounding as Blood Witness.
>What little of his stuff I've heard hasn't been quite as stomping and post apocalyptic sounding as Blood Witness
blood witness is one of his more family friendly tracks
i'm not even bullshitting when i say my mum liked blood witness because it was really "tribal and spooky"
Nope, I want more Regis. I'm on a train atm and can't go through all his shit so I was hoping someone would post a Regis banger or two akin to Blood Witness is all. Sorry for all the confusions boys
where were u when AOTY leaked (not including ghettoville)
(LOXCD 136) Zed Bias - The Sound of the Pirates:
>UK Garage, Mix CD
Also his mix on Bingo Beats.
dunno about essential but i like em im buzzin im seeing him soon
depends on what u mean by 'suface.'
like mainstream-pop surface, then yeah you're right.
if you mean like popular-'underground'/hip circles, then it's been kinda surface-y in large part due to a lot of press coverage.
when can one expect to hear a full-on Detroit techno revival?
I think people latched on to Chicago too hard. BTW, I thought the last Stellar OM Source was great, but no one else I knew even mentioned it.
The Dutch have been doing electro forever and I love it.
and what would a electro/detroit techno revival even sound like? isn't part of the charm the retro kitsch sounds? it's just a lil hard to imagine it experiencing a revival because it of how dated it might sound
>I think people latched on to Chicago too hard.
meaning like what, too much on the house side these days?
alright this is def Hannah Diamond on the vocals
it sounded like her on Bipp, but I wasn't sure
but the vocals here HAVE to be hers, she's even in that sugary post-pop sound herself, so it makes sense
>it's just a lil hard to imagine it experiencing a revival because it of how dated it might sound
I predict 90s digital sound nostalgia on the rise and then it will happen. People will dust off their korg M1s.
>meaning like what, too much on the house side these days?
I feel like people have to put soul influenced electronic up against noise and minimal influenced stuff. The trends seem to go real far one way or the opposite.
Detroit stuff blurs the lines a lot and wouldn't fit. It would be like having an Orbital revival.
new DJ Vague is fucking killer, kinda shit you want to hear blaring in a warehouse at 3am
also UTTU is on such a good release streak recently, wish they got more well deserved hype that they miss for some journalists having a problem with their light hearted image
so is it fair to say at this point that jungle revival isn't actually happening, but really what we've got is beefed up breakbeats at 130ish with 'rave synths' and a minimal number of elements? 'breakbeat techno' doesn't seem right either.
what happens if someone gets rid of the overtly nostalgic ravey synths? probably a tune that no one would ever put out... still tho.
i would of smashed your fucking kneecaps in by now if this was real life right now you cheeky prick.
boys always like to talk big on the internet not so tough when they come face to face with my fucking fist.
sorry m8, even YOI wave beats sawtooth wave
Second time in this thread but I am from those parts... Not that people say those words there so much. Was just chatting PJDN nonsense anyway m8, chill out there in your Norwich suburb.
>never heard of Ophidian or Hellsystem(in his prime)
Fav release(s) on P.I.E.S. and related lads?
Really digging Person of Interest's releases - they seem somewhat overlooked too.
Top-tier for me tho is 4 Club Use Only, YYYYYYYY, Sark Island Acid, Tarifa.
Also thoughts on that recent Florian Kupfer?
You'd like the new Meander album from this year:
And also The Teknoist - Tank Alligator:
hyped for the Fabric/live 77 mix CDs from Erol Alkan and Marcel Dettmann soon, looking stronger than it has in a while, despite people moaning about the 'death of mix CDs', I like to have them in my car mate keep putting them out
ZHU - Faded and Oliver Heldens - Gecko have both been in the UK top 3
Well guys, The UK house revival is going to die soon.
The latest trend is "Future House" which is pretty much Tchami and Oliver Heldens.
Its what EDMfags call deep house
People are getting tired of the massive snare build up and "1,2,3, JUMP!" nonsense and think that future house is cool
EDM producers are playing it in their radioshows and a few producers are even trying their hand at it. The amount of copycats of Tchami and Oliver Heldens is massive.
Problem is, all of it sounds so goddamn similar and disposable itll die within this year.
They will most likely move on to the Majestic Casual type shit as a last ditch attempt which they'll get bored of even quicker.
ah I may have misinterpreted OP's statement as being more cynical than it was - I just feel like as somebody needs to actually ask the question, is Jeff Mills really a huge cut above the rest like everybody seems to act
i'm not sure i'd say he was a cut above the rest as such, but he's definitely THE definitive detroit artist and dj, perhaps more so than any of the belleville three
that said his skill as a dj is phenomenal and he's definitely a cut above the rest in that respect. even though his mixes have the odd fuckup you can totally overlook them
yeah, jackin house is another name for it, albeit a much better one than future house. EDM fans use the term future house
stuff that sounds like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPioLizQKuc
Gesaffelstein will never get as popular as these guys though, and hes also moved away from making techno this past year
>mfw I heard Disclosure being played on the radio here in murrica when working at a gatehouse
It was weird to me. Granted it was "Latch" but still.
I'd rather it be called that then get blanketed as "deep house".
I swear the term "deep house" is becoming the new "EDM".
it keeps happening
pretty much this. "deep house" is the new "dubstep"
it's a reflex
though i've always wondered if dean is a legit autist. why the fuck is he fondling a bag of flour? i could see it being some weird sort of performance art because that's what they're about, but still
Honestly it's suffering here in murrica if you're a huge fan of this stuff. Most people here have no clue what the fuck this is about. At least in yurop there is an entire culture behind this shit. Here at least in Miami, people are so goddamn ignorant and don't know any better. It's like they think boring tech-house is the pinnacle of electronic music or some shit just because they can "mix easier" with it(they've actually told me that). It's literally the only reason I get gigs here. I am like an alien with these people when if I played in yurop, I'd probably just be like any other young, enthusiastic DJ there.
People here make it a big deal because I play vinyl too when to me, it's just like any other format. It's all about preference to me but to them it's like I'm trying to get "cred" or some shit. I remember some chick I met making a big deal that I have colored vinyl and thought I bought it for the "pwetty colors!" when I really just bought them because I like the tracks in them.
>mfw all of this shit
A club near me put on a club night with a bunch of DJs from around the country. Only they didn't tell the guys that they only had CDJs. All of the invited DJs used vinyl.
That was a fucking dire night.
haha man I hear your struggle - I live in London where people live and breath electronic music so at parties its often a competition to see who can drop the biggest new track...weirdly enough though people are still equally narrow minded and where previously the odd singalong soul or even indie tune would go down well at the right point - some people now won't have anything except the most experimental/dark/minimal stuff
>At least in yurop there is an entire culture behind this shit
If it makes you feel any better it's less prevalent than these threads would have you believe. If you live in London or a big city with a large student population, then yeah you'll get more people who are into underground electronic shit rather than just Avicii - Levels.
But it's not like that everywhere. For example, I live in the exact middle of the country (in the east midlands) and even within uni I only know one person who actually knows about new and current electronic producers and what releases are doing the rounds and what big stuff is coming out soon etc. And even that guy is from London, I don't know anyone who is from where I am who gives a shit about it at all. Cetainly not to the same extent I do anyway but I definitely take it too far so that's understandable.
yep yep, either drop the prodigy one or just the original depending on the atmosphere - its in that sphere of timelessly well known dance tunes that get dropped all the time at festivals (like the old ed case remix of clint eastwood)
Tre Mission has an album out, you can listen to it all here: http://www.thefader.com/2014/08/05/tre-mission-proves-his-mettle-on-debut-album-stigmata-listen-in-full-now/
He's alright: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6W9lxYQta5U
i feel like one of those americans right now but it doesn't feel right hearing someone do grime in a candian accent. at least not proper grime.
le1f did this beat which sounds pretty grime influenced to me. it's alright if you can get over the freaky lyrics.
It sounds weird as fuck to me as well but at least it's different. The MC is bare shit these days, I honestly can't think of a newer guy who I can definitely say is consistently good.
speakin about deep house/knackered house
just picked this up on vinyl, now i have all three of his records
Anyone heard of this guy called Ken Ishii? on R&S records mid 90s, Japanese guy. I'm listening to his album Jellytones right now, it's really top banana. Massive thumbs up from me.
