Leading this off with one of my favorite EP's from this year.
Beggars Banquet EP out of No Dough Music
What do you guys think is going to be the next mainstream subgenre to blow up for a year or two?
Deep house is running on empty at this point and trap and dubstep died long ago, big room might be the most cancerous music form to ever have existed. Most of these were predictable before they really went big, but right now it's seems like nothing new or interesting is surfacing.
I'd say techno is the next big thing but the general public can't get into techno like that no matter how homogenized it can possibly be.
Either that or old 90's garage sound because it's apparently already being played out in the UK and other yuro regions but it hasn't even gotten to that point at all here in murrica. I'm sure it'll be the next big thing here in terms of what people here call "ladhouse" in that regard.
but the really overproduced jungle like lee bannon. the mad decent hypebeasts will probably pick up on that since people usually get into it after they first get into house.
grime will come a few years later
>tfw can only buy 4-5 records on juno every month or 2 because shipping to murrica is assfuckingly expensive
I never have to pay this much for shipping even 10+ records domestically. Comes with the territory when importing anything. I'm just saying it generally sucks.
you should order from redeye records. they only charge full shipping for the first item, and after that its like $0.80 for each item. 5 records shipping to the US costs about 11 dollars
It's common courtesy.
Because the first post is the most influential, it sets the tone of the thread; look what happened yesterday. The OP should generally be neutral as possible far as opinions/taste goes.
Secondly, Tensnake is a very 'me me me' poster, so threads created by him come off as him claiming the thread, which is both irritating and often leads to thread derailment.
Lastly, some people have Tensnake filtered (among others), so it's unfair that they miss out on these threads becauase the OP won't respect community etiquette.
could you really see your typical lad listening to a straight up hard techno banger?
Agree on the garage thing though, already starting to see stuff like disclosure get well into the mainstream
aye but we are talking real mainstream like chart sorta level. I just can't see a poppy techno tune doing as well as 'ladhouse' done or even the really neutered dnb like rudimental.
If you've got any examples please share, im curious
This comes out mid September. If it's anything as good as Ra, I'll be happy. Previews are pretty good so far. Chill stuff.
i think /mu/'s definition of 'lads' is extremely broad though, mainly because most people on here are social pariahs
actual drinking-game-magaluf-take-your-pants-off-for-banter "lads" definitely do NOT go to swamp nights. everyone at swamp nights is skinny and wears carhartt. not the most underground crowd but certainly not what most people seem to think on here
Yeah this, it's ridiculous what you guys will call a lad around here. Nights like swamp 81 attract normalfags yes, but those 'lads' that everyone refers to won't be at swamp, they'll be at fucking hot creations or whatever
Can someone reccomend some comfy atmosphere bleeps similiar to this?
Whole album is free on band.camp and its absolutely beautiful
lol @ everyone claiming deep house/techno to be the next big thing. Those genres have been the thing since '12-'13 get with the times.
also lolling at people claiming dubstep is dead, murricans seem to finally be sick of tear out dubstep and the deep sound has been blowing up this year over there. This years been the best in a while release wise too.
I want garridge back.
fucken garridge m8 lets do this
Any recs for tribal or Muslimgauze influenced techno? I've been loving some of Jeff Mills' tribal sounding stuff lately (the Java EP especially).
Lol, must have missed that.
Been liking the last few TTT releases, wasn't as much of a fan of their earlier stuff. I also wanna get one of their sick long sleeve tees. Shame they're like £35.
Disco revival/nu-disco has been the thing for a year now where I live, frankly I don't have any idea for what the next thing will be.
Deep house and techno are always big but not really hip or something
i guess? it just seems like tongue in cheek fun music rather than any meaningful commentary so i don't think satire is the right term. it's a bit like a tribute to all those old ringtonecore tunes.
>mainly because most people on here are social pariahs
Speak for yourself mate
>actual drinking-game-magaluf-take-your-pants-off-for-banter "lads" definitely do NOT go to swamp nights
I've been to a Swamp night in Bristol where there most definitely were these kind of lads.
I know because many of them were my friends.
It's not shit at all, functional building techno but it's not true that we'd be all over it if it was a more fashionable producer.
I loved Night Owl, I picked it up blind a couple weeks ago (I thought A Made Up Sound has never dissapointed) and it's great
These two particularly, I didn't feel Situations at all tbh
I'm not him you spack.
I don't understand why /bleep/ completely ignores producers in these threads, seeing as criticism is more helpful than praise.
Pick one /bleep/
>inb4 hemlock randomer is better
RTV one is a bit underwhelming, l.i.e.s one is good but only because of the b side
The clone release on the other hand... 4 straight bangers
lol wtf, tensnake trying to get in on some banter
alright mate you fancy a pint down the chippy
on second thoughts fuck off, if you took your trip off then maybe you could include yourself a bit more
hey you guys care to check out my stuff?
basically anything past 2011 you should just avoid. its when labels like phantasma disques and what not started shitting everything up with a lot of homogenous releases and taking the whole "so weird spooky imagery xd" image to a comical effect.
just keep it to the OGs like salem, white ring, ooooo, and a lot of early tri-angle stuff. their lindsay lohan homage tape is the fuckin shit.
dead virgin was one of my favorites too.
yeah man. i looked into my library and found some more names i had forgotten
modern witch. shes a bit bare-bones and its all very sparse but u might dig some tracks
spider webs - has a plunderphonicsy feel to the tunes.
lake radio - reccomend sticking to his early stuff his later stuff is just lame
tearist - dope punk vibe, bit amateurish
sleep over - dreamy floatin on clouds type sound
dark cloak - really good basically
summer you faggot stop talking about your teenage bedroom shit
go to a club
come here and talk about the music
have you ever even dropped md and listened to techno
talk about appropriate music here when you have ok dick splash
i mean spill not the shelflife one
i want that latest benjamin damage ep too
arghh too many good tunes
is HARDBASS /bleep/?
amerifag here and theres absolutely no way techno can be "the next big thing" here. its way too boring to most people. i dont even know why people are saying ladhouse is mainstream here. the only electronic music thats really "mainstream" here is mad decent / trappy / big room shit.
>mfw when i actually rate this tune
its not tthat easy of a question to answer. you go to new york and theres clubs everywhere, both "edm" ones and your underground clubs. but you venture out into the flyover states and no one knows what the fuck an opal tape is.
this is now a serbian turbo folk thread
Everyone who's replied to this is wrong. The next bug thing will be "tropical house".
House music at 120-125 bpm that uses tribal percussion, guitars, warm synths and saxaphone solos.
Songs that have already blown up:
Waves (Robin Schulz Remix)
One Day (Wankelmut Remix)
Sexual Healing (Kygo Remix)
Klindigale - jubel
Klangarussell - Sonnetantz
Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Mix)
All 50+ million views between them

you can fucking kill yourself because that is literal mainstream music in german for like three or four years now and it is all terrible and i want it to die and FUCK FUCK FUCK MAKE IT GO AWAY
PLEASE STOP LISTENING TO THIS FRIENDS
WHY WON'T MY FRIENDS LISTEN TO ME THEY KEEP LISTENING TO THIS BULLSHIT
MORE "TROPICAL HOUSE"
And this ones only been out for 3 months and has 20 mil views
>mfw i notice all of these dubs only now
>havent been to a rave or taken enough illegal drugs
well if you need to take drugs to enjoy it, well...
but yeah I haven't done any of that, maybe someday I'll face the rave life and tell you what did I felt
does anyone know what tune that synth that comes in is sampled from at 1:27? might not be a sample but im sure its a reference to a tune,
your english slang is embarrassing, man. low it
unfortunately there's not much more quite on the same vibe as that one. i've searched many times but to no avail
lol, is true, wtf. chill brer
trance revival when
but its fun~~
>2step feel stuff
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hd3s_jubB_s (probs far too dirty for you)
just a short list. most of this might be a bit dark for your tastes considering you linked alicia
it was mostly a place called sullivans room and output. now its only output because sullivans shut down. they had the best acts usually out of most places in new york. truthfully not many places play stuff that isnt dubstep/electro/edm type thing.
as for who ive seen? drumcell, jackmaster. parasole, oliver deutschmann. no one that's majorly popular cause they always seem to play during the weekdays
For some reason I'm thinking that a more
"lo-fi" approach will become popular. And by that I mean bleeps and bloops made on semi-aged, semi-digital pieces of hardware from the nineties or some shit.
Not new but a pretty close example of what I'm thinking of:
