Alright guys, need a quick critique.
This is jst my backing track, no solo's, no lead melody or anything, working on this.
I like the jazzy feel to the piano and the shifting atmospheric synth thing in the background. I'd kind of agree about the percussion sounding porn-like, maybe make it sound less muffled unless that's what you're going for
Since you posted the soundcloud logo, it's shameless self promotion time
>dubstep, trance, heavy, melodic
If you have a couple of seconds, my track Eulogy is up youredm.com's Fresh Face Friday contest, and I need dem sweet votes
Not necessarily muffled in a bad way, if you boosted the higher frequencies (17kHz+) and maybe the lower ones too (50-80Hz), the percussion might sound a bit more powerful and present in the mix.
Reaper and loads of VSTs, what do you want to know specifically?
I pretty much just learned through trial and error, a lot of stuff is obvious, such as tracks that aren't bass instruments or percussion having a high pass on them around 300Hz so the bass stands out, that kind of thing... I'm far from an expert with EQing and mixing so you'd be better off finding a guide on the internet. Practice is key though.
>indie folk from eastern europe
going to return all feedback and listen to your shit
Since April of this year, not been terribly active in the past month...
The music you make when you start off is always going to be pretty bad, but what you posted is a pretty solid early attempt OP
hit me on da cloud
Working on some new stuff so an eye if you're into it!
>down-tempo, ambient, pop, drone, home-recorded
Amateur hip hop producer looking for feedback, will return feedback on soundcloud
>GOIN TO A DRUGTEST EDITIOn
Thanks, I appreciate it. It's still a work in progress. Jst needed some ears to hear. I'm gonna work on the percussion and already have melody for the chorus that i need to track down.
started April of this year and you came up with a monster of a track so soon. That's pretty impressive. I'm still trying to find my sound and voice, ive been doing a lot of music theory reading. Were you in band or orchestra or something in school?
sounds cool man, try some synth sounds over that stuff...and maybe distant highly reverbed vocals, would sound cool I think
thanks for listening
>chillwavey, psychedelic, washed-out RnB, not sure
>lo-fi teenage bedroom witch rap
my voice is weird
haha thanks man, I've played guitar for god knows how long and I'm not going to lie and say it hasn't helped, but I don't really think it matters how long you've played an instrument for or whatever as long as you have an understanding of what sounds good.
If you want to talk more or want advice about anything, just message me on soundcloud if you want
>some kind of house i guess
also is it possible in FL Studio 11 to mark certain bars in playlist as "to be skipped"? like the cursor come to the marked part but just skips it and continues right after it?
>some1 critique my rap? no one responded in the last thread :'(
Its got an old school vibe. Think 70s-80s or GTA radio FEVER 105
Here's mine and enjoy!
>sloppy ambient, piano
really awesome and funky. This is really damn good, you're vocals in the mix are fking good. Great work, keep it up my dawg
I live in Atlanta and hear alot of Hiphop, Rap, trap beats and music. You're instrumental is pretty good. the vocals need work though. Im talking mix down and overall flow. Needs more energy and feeling. Sounds like you're just reciting you're lyrics as opposed to speaking to my soul.
Thanks alot man, I WILL be messaging you on Soundcloud so keep a heads up for StillBlade lol
Hey i love this sound, its really good. I think the vocals clash with the instrumentation though. You did mention you're gonna work with an engineer soon, so that may not be a problem. Overall youre sound is unique, keep making more music :)
This shit is pretty good. What sound is that lead synth. I'm really digging it. Also, i work in FL myself...cant answer you're question unfortunately. =( . Maybe just create an arrangement in your sequencer seperate from the main arrangement and have it repeat that.
Need some work. Can't tell if serious or not.
whoa really creepy sound. But its definitely good. Need a better mix though, i hear alot of clipping and overlapping and a lot of things arent vividly clear to me.
Singer/Songwriter, looking for feedback, thanks for listening. I need sleep but ill listen in the mornin these threads are a lot more fun when you participate
Thanks for the feedback.
Just listened to your page. What piano is that? It's awesome. What did you use to record it?
Really good, sounds like something i'd hear on the radio hear. Flow is good. Keep it up, sounds like you can get a lot better too.
Hey, /mu/ r8 my symphony introduction draft
its a draft, so its not final but all the parts which i want to exist are there, also the dynamics and legato hasnt been adjusted in the production
throw in a kick in there, i only hear sub and it's not very hard hittin
high pass the hi hats, maybe stereo spread them too. if u think it sounds good
snare doesn't hit hard enough
piano is well above everything, making the flute and..well everything else a bit quiet lol
basically work on ur mixin, composition is OK i guess
>drones and repetition
>digital synth soundscape
Im mostly concerned about the drop (and the mix which im working on)
Is it too drastic a change? Im tryna get some ideas or song examples to get inspiration from.
Will return fdback on SC
thank you very much!
its done through 3 softwares that i "join" together
Sibelius, which is a score writer, here i write my music
Kontakt which is a bank software where i put files from a library which are the samples of each instrument
and East West Quantum Leap orchestra which is a library of orchestral intrument samples
Also if i its not a hassle can i ask what stood out in the introduction?
i really like how you want your guitar music to be melodic
sure i can say that structurally and form wise you need to develop a little more but so far your use of melody is very well done
experimental hip hop beats
Thanks for the feedback. Im using an 808 preset drumkit. The kick is there but you're right it's very subby. My mixing is absolutely terrible and will work on it, thanks for commenting. As far as my composition goes, what do you think is missing?
whoa lots of energy, this is great. That drop though....very nice. It isnt too drastic, i think it rly makes the song.
Wow, i see. It sounds amazing, i had to follow you. I really love the use of the woodwinds personally. Its smooth and soothing. I know you said you're not done, so i think you dont need me to tell you it's fairly quiet.
The intro grabbed my attention. Then the song pulled me in and kept me. Love it, I can totally vibe to this. Are you doing the vocals too? And is it just you? Or do you work with others?
thanks it's actually just a remix of this guy Wholewheat's track: https://soundcloud.com/whole-wheat/anyhow-anyway-anyday
there were no stems so plyd the stuff live over the track
you have a good build there
this i actually really liked
it needs work, the percussion needs to be matched with the flow of the music
also the piano needs to have some variations
but other than that it has a "good flow"
>Psychedelic beat music
Just put out our second LP. Just dreamy psychedelic documentation.life events, memories and moments within nature. Hope /mu/ guys enjoy, we were always on these threads trading feedback in '12, good days.
I've been working on some demos if anyone is interested
>Vaportrap, Chill, Ambient infulences
>14 track album set
Working on making some feelings into electronica.
would appreciate feedback, going through some randomly selected soundclouds here.
>Experimental, Psychedelic Ambient
>some sexy rnb shit
Thats the settings for the lead that rolls in around 0:28, i thought thats what were you asking about
pic related is the eq
oh btw thanks alot for the feedback. I doubt you're still monitoring but thanks. By percussion needing to match, you mean slow it down? Or change the instruments? Or rearrange?
well you see
the rest of your music has a pace, the percussion doesnt match that for some reason your soundcloud wont work anymore so i cant point out what i mean.
but from memory this what i thought.
The piece has a rolling flow such as it feels smaller through the beginning of a phrase (section) then it ends up fuller. I think your drums should help build that
>sadkid productions, lofi bedroom bullshit, depressedcore beats
> trying be lo-fi
hopefully its not some retarded faggot ddosing soundcloud
>Dubstep, Trap, Electronic
>inspired by death grips and noise artists
I return all feedback on the cloud
Is this finally the end of soundcloud? Am I actually going to have to start handing out casettes at school and hope it reaches someone big? Am I going to have to purchase ads in the school newspaper? Get second to last place in a talent show? I spent all my bandcamp money on xanax and Arizonas, please /mu/, hold me.
>tfw you literally just uploaded something you're absurdly hyped about

>electronic, experimental, idm, tracker
I used to rhyme like this, but most of my stuff these days is a bit slower. Quicky one-take type thing, I've been trying to record a tune every day or two over the past little bit.
>experimental psychedelic dreamjazz
>we've working on new songs, its sounding pretty neat
>solo stuff from Ocelot and Polysemy
CHECK OUT PLZ!
let me know what you think :)
You seemed to of calmed down today.
Production of the track is really good, reminds me of Death Grips with it's industrial sound. I feel like there's maybe too much effects on the vocals as they are already not clear enough in the mix to hear what you're actually saying. The vocals need to be re-mastered I think.
There's a bit around 3:03 where you lose the timing, I don't understand if it's intentional, but it kind of ruins the otherwise decent flow.
just uploaded my first demo
New track, finished it yesterday, suggestions?
I like move, I'm a sucker for airy vocals, wish I could sing
me too, fixed now though
>like eating electric sugar

>will return the favor
dope lyrics. that beat on flowers is freeeesh. keep spitting and tightening up that flow. you've got a little bit of a slug thing going on, but sounds like you're still holding back some of your emotion / emphasis. enjoyed your sung bits.
heavy shit .. your production work reminds me of Pinch, which is a major compliment. "haunted" is the one.
wow that beat tho. flow is solid, shades of a lot of stuff from kendrick to migos. dope combination of elements between the experimental production and trappier vocals. enjoyed, keep tightening up that delivery your voice is good.
you've got a lot of good ideas lyrically, i feel like something in your flow isn't coming through tho. singing parts are pretty decent. i would say try to slide into a pocket on the beat more, you can definitely ride the bpm but the delivery is a little scattershot. once again your ideas are dope, plenty of potential, keep putting in that work. love what you did with that fade at the end.
this is well produced (the kick and clap on work get a little stale after a while but the melodies are on point, interesting elements). your flow is coming along as well, maybe push some more emotion into your delivery. like the combination of styles here.
this beat is dope like some gold panda type of shit. slaps pretty hard i like that east indies vibe. your singing definitely isn't bad, you certainly pour your heart into it and stick the notes. when you get really into it you almost slide into a bob dylan kind of thing. maybe even them out a little more with compression, they fade into the beat at points. unique style for sure but i was rocking with it. not sure on that piano bit.
new joint i produced. mpc / analog. pete rock / boom bap type of vibes with weird atmospherics. let me know what y'all think.
>guitar pop demo
>more demos & album w/ pro engineer soon
Hope you enjoy our song ^^ <3

A while back, I made a mixed CD for my girlfriend, and she really enjoyed it, and made one for me later.
Now, I'm making her a CD of around 5 or 6 songs written and performed by me. Lately, she's been saying that I 'owe' her one because she's bored of the CDs in her car, so I'm gonna surprise her with this one, but it'll take a while.
If you want to see the two songs I have finished so far, here's my soundcloud:
Feedback would be much appreciated. Keep in mind these aren't the final takes, they're pretty much just demos. I'll upload more songs as I write them.
Just for some context, we both like AJJ, The Mountain Goats, NMH, Arctic Monkeys, etc.
Catchy rap music, check me out baby.
