Vaporwave discover is fucking amazing edition
>What Is Vaporwave?
>Where Do I start?
One of the best guides to follow.
>Where can I download all of this?
>Where do I go now?
Explore of course, with the new tool to discover amazing vaporwave.
Discuss anything vaporwave, new finds, future of the genre, whatever.
Futurefunk, vaportrap, etc. allowed as well
Bumping with something I found with using the discover tool:
>The only thing I found that came close to the great Video 2000 - Midnight Ride
I have been listening to this all day
Never heard an album like it before, not even outside of vaporwave as a matter of fact.
both good recs
Fuji Grid TV
G h o s t i n g - Telenights
Vision Girl - Film Noir
(both of these are on Tokyo Exchange)
Lighter but still kind of jarring is Nmesh - Dream Sequins
I was just enjoying this Chuck Person cassette (via wcd's staff pick) and I see it's labeled vaporwave. But I have a question, is this genre associated with reddit? Because if it is, I don't want to hear any more of it.
this is really great
i guess i'd compare this to digital island fantasy, who i feel never got their due
the black midi record is great too, so's the eightxnights record
could i get some honest feedback on this?
not responding to deliberate trolls/insults.
hey, jz here from business casual. something was apparently posted on a earlier thread, saying i was "bashing dream catalogue" the other day. this is not true at all, what ever was said WAS NOT ME.
i sometimes feel like i'm not really adding to the style though or that there's not really, anything interesting for people to latch on to when they listen to my stuff.
people still make really simple lofi sample beats, primitive eccojams, future funk, though. i don't like most of it but there's an audience for it, the creators like what they're doing.
god that sounds really conceited but whatever.
u cool dude. know not to take anything mutants say ab label drama seriously.
didn't u guys release a telepath record iirc lol, they're like dc's flagship artist
no lol. it originated on last.fm/turntable/tinychat, not here or tumblr or reddit. don't get it twisted <3
i find that hard to believe. i don't want to believe dc would do that, and i didn't wanna believe they'd talk shit ab spf either even though they did apologise which is cool?
they've just released, for the most part, a really solid catalog of music, and it'd be disappointing if they were trying to start some petty shit.
Someone posted an infographic thingy defining it, it was really just a smear campaign against a few musicians who spam their stuff in these threads but it had a pretty good definition I think
It's vektroids fault. She disbanded herself from the genre, and made us all look bad for him/her starting shit on /mu/ and the homeless thing. She/he acts like she/he is god because Mac plus was spammed so much it became the staple of vaporwave. (Still a good album though)
>Currently, I don't possess the funds from the preorders. I've moved about six times since April and during that period found myself faced with the very real possibility of being on the street or in a shelter on more than one occasion, so using those funds to sustain until things stabilized became a bit of an imperative.
Yeah that was the funniest part about that spf420, they advertised vektroid would be playing a set everywhere, no fucking shit it would attract mainly people that were into her stuff just for mac+, then people that would mention vaporwave in the chat would get instakicked
We need an essential vapor reading list
Posting the obvious Baudrillard
Hey guys, the people in bandcamp threads are really nice and supportive of my stuff but nowadays I pretty much only get like ten "reccing"s and no actual feedback. Would you guys mind taking a gander and telling me what you think? I'd really appreciate it
>plunderphonics, noise-pop, i've been told not to call this vaporwave but I think it belongs here anyways, repeater-core, in progress
Just added a new song, you guys are the first to hear it
Not being a prick but I just don't like it, although I can hear you have an ear for creative sounds. It's not bad, just not my style.
Track two I like though, would maybe listen to it once or twice again, I think you did the best job on that.
Is it vaporwave? I would say so. It sounds like experimental eccojams
Oh my god, thank you. It's really good to hear people's actual thoughts about this, most of the time I just get "good job" so thanks. And yeah, I like the trip-hop feel of the second track too so I'm gonna try to make some more like that
groceries - yes we're open, my personal favorite mallsoft album
check out gosuto mall, palm mall by cat system corp, and anything by lindsheaven virtual plaza too
I thought they were some online chatroom that played vaporwave though
it's been pretty obvious it's been them... they continuously and angrily called the biz cas guy fat and shit after people were getting PO'd with dc's spamming and general samefagging.
even now i see it in this thread, but to avoid confrontation, i won't point any fingers.
last night i called business casual shit and that's where the whole drama started
the owner accused me of being dream catalogue immediately and then ranted for two hours or more about how much he hates dream catalogue
i actually kek'd hard in real life a few times, the guy is psychotic
Why was that even necessary though? I saw the post and it was just a link to an album that happened to be on BC. It seems like you were just starting shit for no reason, which is why everyone called you out as being DC.
actually i was there too, i seem to remember it being you being accused of being dream catalogue, and then you starting a shitstorm of defending yourself and not just letting it go, he didn't really rant for an extended period about anything
Guys guys I have a new genre idea! It's the sounds of a parisian crepemaker layered over minimalist soundscapes I call it creperwave
>still being this mad 24 hours after i called your oceangrunge and broporwave label shit
>not using an actual argument to defend yourself
i don't give a shit about sea of dogs or biz cas, i just like vaporwave. i listen to shit from both dream catalogue and biz cas.
as well as i'm not that guy, stop pointing fingers
Where do you guys think Vaporwave has to evolve?
>dream catalogue is objectively better than business casual
how, they release like 3 albums a week, the quality is always shotty, and most of it sounds the same.
business casual puts out much more quality releases, but they take a lot longer. plus they got the physical side going for them
Can you guys list 5-10 of your favorite artists? I'd appreciate if you could explain why. I've been trying to listen to about 10gb of Vaporwave for a month from Dream Catalogue/Vaporwave Deluxe Mega thing or whatever. I'll post my own list.
>Internet Club/Prismcorp Virtual Enterprises
>death's dynamic shroud.wmv
Floral Shoppe is great too but to me it really stands out and it's hard to compare with the rest of the genre, I'd even argue it's a bad starting point for anyone to listen to Vaporwave
