starting with a classic
Covered some BSS songs a few years ago.
>those dances the guitarist does
holy shit that shit is rad
"The bands before us already played the songs we were going to play, and that's a bummer, but were going to play them anyway."
Then they proceed to play a 10 minute math rock piece.
Ah, the classic 7/8 rendition of feel good inc. It's a mocking jab at today's generic 4/4 music. The quasi retard persona which they put on is like a mirror to the audience of todays pop music scene. The two are truly visionaries, who most of you probably don't understand because they aren't just on another level to you plebs, they are playing an entirely different game.
please tell me they have studio recordings of some kind
YO DAWGS lissen up I went to college with these cool catts (UCSC) and played with them a few times. Not sure what they've been doin since graduating but I see the guitarist around town occasionally, I think he's makin electronic bleepers these days
this is so fucking great
it reminds me of spiderland - some some highschool age kids making sick math rock jams, except where spiderland was post hardcore too this is a little psychadelicish.
if these guys made a full album, i'm willing to bet it would become sub /mu/core.
sweet jesus fuck
What have I been doing with my life
I think I would just burst into tears if this had happened at my high school because I know I'll never be able to touch this
Which one of you fucking faggots did this
I don't know if anybody would have it but one time somebody posted a video on /mu/ of a teenage metalcore group doing a cover of Vanessa Carlton's 1000 Miles without a hint of irony. That's funny enough, but they also had this black keyboard player that like did squats during the breakdown. Anybody have a link? I've been looking for it for ever.
>lel no female under 30 gives a shit about guitar music
tumblr hipster cunts do, they get wet at the thought of alex turner or julian casablancas or morrissey or any other tumblrcore musician just looking at them (nothing more becuase that would be rape).
>is this even fucking real
>how are high school kids doing this shit
>The bands before us already played the songs we were going to play, and that's a bummer, but were going to play them anyway.
So ahead of their time that they're already broken up:
March 11, 2013
This band is taking a break from performing. Hopefully, it may resume again one day, but only once there is worldwide resolution of male dominance issues and insecurities, and total abolishment of the patriarchy. Thank you for listening and coming to shows and dancing.
Until next time,
No words for this. This is just incredible. And high school kids? Fucking hell.
Will they ever return?
Also Time Machine Modulus confirmed Kings of /mu/
I have one of those videos
I had broken my ankle about 2 months before it and the same day we played my casket was removed. I smoked so much weed and took so many painkillers I couldn't even tell my guitar was tuned.
The video is funny because I was clearly high as fuck while singing in front of the school
Has anybody posted this one yet?
How bout we class things up a bit
>you will never have confidence and synergy like this
Eh, this wasn't very special. Little variation, seems like the fills were just the same ones but played differently in different ways.
At least the Time Machine guys had lots of different stuff going on at the same time, varying time signatures, etc., while this just feels too samey and not much going on.
Hate to break it to you little dude. But if not for Alan Dawson, who, if you paid attention, was the last two solo clips, all of that "chops" drumming would never have existed. He was the guy who people like Tony Williams, Steve Smith, Billy Cobham, Vinnie Colaiuta and Eddie Marz took lessons from because he was the only guy around that could kick their ass behind the throne any day of the week.
you seem to imply that I don't know about drums and drummers. hate to break it to you little dude, I know the ins and outs, I've been doing it my whole life, kind of like the fellas I've posted tonight ;)
I think what it really comes down to is the simple fact that you value drumming wankery over tasteful musicality. This isn't to say that I can't enjoy some Eddie Van Flailin's every now and again, but overall, someone who can make me feel good rather than just beat the shit out of things for the sake of beating the shit out of things will always rank higher. This is general, of course, because how can you not adore drummers like Zach Hill?
the entire time we were discussing chops.
I posted chop heavy drummers. you're going to dis extremely talented drummers as "Wankery", as if that's a valid criticism. that's hilarious.
Eric Harland/Mark Guiliana/Chris Dave is "wankery"?
you really don't know what you're saying and it's embarrassing.
Having seen Chris Dave live about 5ft away from him, yes I can say that the is basically hip-hop/jazz wankery. He occasionally has some cool ideas, but over all its something to the equivalent of mindlessly playing over a simple bass and guitar line while his friend blows through a saxophone like its his first time on the instrument.
and you want to go on talking about Alan Dawson but you don't know jazz.
I bet you think Ornette Coleman also blew through his sax like it was his first time.
good jazz =! cool jazz
>simple bass line
This will probably be a shocker to you, but those simple baselines are [spoiler]covers of james brown, herbie hancock, tony williams, etc etc[spoiler]
Know your bass lines faggot.
No, I actually adore Coleman's playing. He really did re-invent jazz several times over. And just because I say that some of these baselines are simple, does not mean that I don't know what they are, faggot :)
for the record, Ornette didn't "re-invent" jazz. he stayed true to the principle of jazz. jazz was a break away from conventions. early jazz broke away from classical conventions involving tonality, ornette simply free'd jazz from the convention of form, hence "free jazz". improvisational jazz on the spot.
know your shit scrub
he easily could've fucking played like two different frets on one string during the bridge
sad that the epic math rock meme is overshadowing this
kid comes up looking omega as fuck and you hear girls in the background saying "I did not expect this" he's clearly one of the biggest nerds in the entire school and people are going fucking wild
Math rock was better but really autistic
Are there any videos out there of people just trolling their audience by playing noise or free improv or something equally atonal and abrasive at a talent show and having the audience boo them but playing on regardless?
feels like 011010001101110001010010110100010111011010111101010100001110001010011010101010101010101010000011111001010111000010011010101010101010100011111000101101010000110000111100100
Holy shit, I expected some shitty highschool cover music, then I get his great fucking math/noise rock highschool band what in the fuck
I had a music class in highschool.
>Me slap da bass a little
>Hyphy kid i fucking hated was in class
>Teacher calls on him to play drums.
>The kid fucking blows me and everyone else away.
>Me. try to get a band
>Hyphy kid laughed and was never seen again :(
>high school talent show
You Americans amuse me. Only you people would have the idea to completely and comprehensively embarrass your children.
