Nothing But Black Metal general #37
Sunbather is shit and we should all hangout on plug.dj edition
Damn this is bretty gud guys
8nd for mods are untrve faggots
To make my post Music Related™ post what you're listening to right now
second track just started, pretty damn good so far
I like it I don't get the hate, actually in all honesty I love every single Darkthrone release I have heard and don't get the hate for some of their albums though I still havent heard a couple (Ravishing Grimness, and Total Death)
This is the ultimate trve black metal test
If you do not like this track then you are false and please don't entry, it's not for everyone bud.
Wound upon Wound
Dragged into Sunlight
Do yourselves a favor and listen to this as soon as December arrives. It's the best death metal in such a long time. Has a black metal vibe too so I think you'll like it.
>formed in: 1999
>has 2 releases ever
also this is nice though it runs a bit too long, there's three 10minute songs on this album and all three could have been shaved by about 2, 3 minutes each
>black metal fans listen to bands with convicted arsonists
>black metal fans listen to bands with convicted criminals
>black metal fans listen to bands with convicted murderers
>black metal fans listen to bands with members that happen to be national-socialists
>condemned and called a nazi for listening to said band
I don't care about black metal bands that have nationalist or socialist or even fascist ideas.. even if they present those ideas in their music , but I do care when a band tries to tie itself to Nazi imagery and crock pot ideas like Racial Hierarchies and Scientific Racism, they are just as bad as shitty white power punk bands and Nazi germany would of shot people in the streets for taking part in extreme music, and 9 times out of 10 these bands are just trying to hard to be shocking, its stupid tired bullshit and most of the bands sound like dick anyway
>but I do care when a band tries to tie itself to Nazi imagery and crock pot ideas like Racial Hierarchies and Scientific Racism
Why? The people who say this have no problems listening to Emperor and Burzum -- bands that all contain of have contained, you know, actual criminals and murderers and shit.
because someone isn't automatically a fucking retard because they broke the law or even killed someone, there are a million different reasons and scenarios that can lead to those things, you can rationalize these things
on the other hand you are automatically an idiot shit stain if you believe in Nazism or even worse believe that pretending to be a Nazi is cool and shocking and edgy, you cannot defend these stances using critical thinking
>someone isn't automatically a fucking retard because [...] they killed someone
>you can rationalize these things
haha dude, what? drank a bit too much of the kool aid today? It's fine to say "Varg and the other criminals are fucking cunts but they made good music", no one's gonna hurt you for being honest.
so you don't think murder is ever a defendable action? what about in instances of self defense? what if someone murdered your children? I mean I know we live in the modern age and we are supposed to leave this sort of stuff up to the 'law' but I don't think someone is a bad person if he murders someone who was plotting to murder him... is it jumping the gun? sure. is it paranoid as all hell? yes. is it irrational? no I don't think so.
>so you don't think murder is ever a defendable action?
>what about in instances of self defense?
Self-defence and murder are mutually exclusive. You cannot defend yourself out malice. Murder is the killing of another human being out of malice. By definition.
>what if someone murdered your children?
Strawman of the year, 11.4/10
>how the fuck is that a strawman? lol I'm literally just coming up with a scenario [not related to the actual scenario being discussed]
That is a literal strawman. By definition. To the motherfucking letter.
no it isn't. a strawman is where you attack an argument or point that the person you are debating never actually made (but you are pretending they did or will make)
I'm just supporting my own claim: Someone who has commited murder can still be a decent person, and their actions (murder) could have been arguably rational and/or even moral.
>Someone who has commited murder can still be a decent person, and their actions (murder) could have been arguably rational and/or even moral.
No. Because murder is the killing of another human being out of malice. And malice is evil. Of course it is. Killing in self-defence would just be... self-defence. Maybe "manslaughter". But not murder. Murder is evil, because murder is out of malice. By definition.
Do any of you guys wear bullet belts or battle jackets?
well read my previous posts, I'm not mad at bands that present national socialist ideas, I'm mad at shitty childish bands that use Nazi imagery, which are most of the shitty NSBM bands
>revenge is inherently malevolent, my scenario of killing the man who killed your child still applies
No it doesn't. Because the only "revenge" I would exact there is what can be done through the rule of law. Because I live in a liberal european democracy where rule of law applies.
I do not believe an eye for an eye is moral. Most people, actually, do not believe that. If they did, we would not have rule of law. If they did, we would have the death penalty for all acts of killing, be they by malice or out of total coincidence.
Not that I'd expect a 12 year old to understand the importance of the rule of law in a civil society. You can go back to your murder fantasies now, thank you very much.
I am not downplaying the importance of rule of law you asshole I am just saying there are other ways to look at it, the modern social way of looking at these topics isn't inherently correct, these things are debateable, in fact we are debating it right now, which what my original point is: there are rational/critical ways of thinking about and discussing issues such as murder and burning down churches or whatever because they are subjective, but we already know that ideas like Nazism and Racial Heiarchy and other faggotry spouted by try hard NSBM bands are objectively bull shit
well that's a terrible opinion
okay cut out the crap
it's burzum> darkthrone/mayhem
soooooo what is really and I mean really equally good to burzum?
What is the best Paysage d'Hiver album and why is it Das Tor?
whats some good, obscure, raw south american black metal? I just finished pic related the Utuk Xul/MEPHIZTOPHEL split, it's pretty good. are there any gems you guys have come across?
Who are the best vocalists in black metal? Who can give me some recommendations of bands whose singers do not sound like gollum gargling on cum?
Of often find myself shunning bands that sound promising because of that.
OK, so I have been getting my brother and a few friends into black metal - but they only like bm with good production which is preferably symphonic, also they only really listen to bm when playing fantasy rpg's.
Long story short this is my fault because that was all I listened too until I got sent to a secure mental hospital for 5 years, (would rather not talk about it and even if I did you probably won't believe me).
Anyhow because of this my brother and a few close friends started to listen to the shit I liked before I was locked up to feel nostalgic about the good times. But I would like them to progress a bit.
So I made this chart for them and they seem to like a bit of it. So now I'm thinking this may be a good chart for people who want to get into the epic side of black metal.
TL:DR - Just putting this chart out there...
Thanks but no, I don't like blackened death, specially not Behemoth.
It's kinda meh, Fenriz is a good vocalist, but tue only albums of his I've enjoyed is Soulside Journey (and maybe the first Darkthrone's).
>Land of the Dead
The shittiest song on an otherwise pretty much flawless album (Bauglir is quite disposable as well).
Since you posted Bethlehem I'm going to say Kvarforth is one of my favorites.
Urfaust has unique and amazing vocals. This whole fucking album right here > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdSTirdm7As
Also always been a fan of Attila's vocals on the Mayhem albums he was on.
Funny enough Shade Empire is the band that got me into bm along with Dimmu Borgir and they are the only bm bands my brother likes haha.
Vocals are awful, everything else is great.
Yeah, Urfaust kicks ass! Quite an unique sound.
Kvarforth is good indeed, but I don't like any of the bands he's been into, not much of a fan of DSBM and the likes, to be honest.
Already know and like Peste Noire also, nice pick!
And gotta disagree on Attila, I get the effect he is aiming to achieve, but I don't feel like he's too good at it.
Well, looks like I've learned something new today, I though most of the vocals there were Fenriz'
That song is quite awful to be honest, I don't see how anyone could consider those vocals to be good from any point of view.
more hilarious than anything I'd say
Have you heard Tormentor? That was Attila's first band so he wasn't doing that odd vocal style yet. Check out the Anno Domini album, it's a fast paced thrashy classic.
Kvarforth also did a good job on Den Saakaldte's first album imo. But I don't think he should have redone that Bethlehem album.
Some other's that come to mind who's vocals I like are Cultes Des Ghoules, Dragged Into Sunlight, Avsky, Ved Buens Ende, classic Beherit, fuckin' Ondskapt https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAYqPtws6go
yes Isengard is fenriz on vocals
also on any of the newer stuff where there are really operatic parts or Mercyful Fate type stuff its Fenriz, but 99% of the rough vocals are Nocturno Culto
Fuck yeah Gorgoroth is the goat's bollocks.
I'm still just getting into them myself, as there are a lot of albums to go through. But most of it seems more noise/experimental while Scatology was more metal oriented all the way through. I'd say definitely start with Eschatological Scatology. This is the song that got me into the rest personally: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYk-MHlQRDs
It's a one man band btw. There is also his black metal project De Magia Veterum and another extremely out there and weird metal project Cloak of Altering.
It's not so much a dislike for their newer stuff as the fact that I haven't really listened more than a couple of times to anything but the old shit.
They did kick ass though, would recommend
Yeah, same wall of noise type of sound but each is still different. De Magia Veterum is a bit more focused on a black metal sound though it's still a chaotic drum machine fueled mess (in a good way). Cloak of Altering is really kind of all over the place and quite alien sounding, I never know what to expect browsing the tracks on youtube. Could be ambient, drone, or Gnaw style insanity like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edJk2ZapXIw (2014 release)
I'm looking for a headphone for Atmospheric / Ambient Black Metal etc.
I use HD439 at the moment and I love the sound signature (mostly flat, neutral with accurate punchy bass), but the earcups are not the best for my ears.
Could you guys recommend me some other alternatives?
I don't know if it's exactly what you're looking for, but this is a personal favorite atmospheric/ambient album. Velvet Cacoon - Genevieve
do you mean albums that influenced it but weren't quite BM themselves or just any really early bm?
essential proto/early black metal:
Does anyone know of some good, fast, heavy (not necessary), abrasive black metal? I don't mind if it's lo-fi, or sounds like it was recorded in a basement - so long as it is listenable and enjoyable.
post yfw you realized the banjo is the most kvlt instrument of them all
Good and evil don't exist you preteen.
No, definitions change.
The Nazi party is dead, a NatSoc is one who wants all immigrants out of their country, and wants a nation unified by their ethnicity.
They're an amazing live band, their studio-work is silly and needs the context of a theatrical performance.
Like Rammstein, they have decent videos too.
>introducing someone to a band for the first time using their initials
Deathspell Omega is a good pick though. My favorite track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRhsLILfdHw
Take a crack at these bands.
Also try Devouring Star's demo for something that is basically Paracletus worship. New song is worth a listen as well.
everytime I try to abbreviate Endless Dismal Moan I giggle a bit
The album was pretty fucking neato, I just don't know how to feel about the programmed drums.. they're kind of a turn of for me. Not really into the whole "inhuman tempo blast beats" thing
okay WHY on earth is deathcrush on the live in leipzig album so damn slow??
Anyone into Basilisk m8s
Only if you choose to sport dozens of common mall-bought patches instead of those of local bands or new acts. I can agree that an overuse of such studs/patches is a bit of an eyesore. Stick to 10 or less logos.
All of it except one act
Selvhat, Unbeing, Die Toten Kehren Wieder Mit Dem Wind, Gladsheim, early Gorgoroth, Mayhem, Totenreich, and Szron.
The true shit.

One the first song of this and really enjoying it.
Beetles are kvlt
Damn, this album is the fucking tits
