This May Be My Last Time Singing: Raw African American Gospel on 45 RPM (Disc 1) (2011)

>This is a compilation of rare gospel recordings that span from 1957-1982. It’s a good mix of classic old-school gospel and slightly more contemporary R&B influenced gospel.

Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota - Un baión para el ojo idiota (1988)

>Alternative rock, hard rock. Some great post-punk influenced hard rock. The follow up to Oktubre, which was kinda their magnum opus, but I think this one is my favorite by them.

Yosvanny Terry- Today’s Opinion (2011)

>Latin jazz, post-bop
>This is an interesting mixture of Afro-Cuban rhythms and melodies, with very free and adventurous improvisation. It’s a good blend of traditional Latin sounds with the exploratory nature of modern jazz.

Clare Fischer- Surging Ahead (1963)

>cool jazz, bebop, piano trio.
>Fischer has the melodic and rhythmic sensibilities of Lennie Tristano mixed with the subtlety and harmonic complexity of Bill Evans

>Goldfish - s/t
>Nu Jazz, House
A band I very rarely see talked about on /mu/, though perhaps with good reason. An interesting duo from South Africa who make some really fun tracks. This is their sorta 'Best Of' album.

John Tchichai, Reggie Workman, and Andrew Cyrille- Witch’s Scream (2006)

>free jazz, post-bop
>A saxophone trio recording by three classic masters of the genre. The do both originals and a few standards, but all with a very loose and free sense of improvisation.

The Bulgarian State Radio & Television Female Vocal Choir- Le Mystere des Voix Bulgares (1975)

>choral folk music
>A compilation of contemporary choral arrangements of Bulgarian folk music. Haunting and beautiful.

Jesse Stacken- Bagatelles for Trio (2011)

>third stream, free improvisation
>This is a series of compositions for piano trio. The music sounds more classically influenced than jazz, but the compositions open up to very free improvisations based on the themes presented in the pieces.

>effe - Visible Invisible
Glitchy, dreamlike electronic music from everyone's favourite country, Japan.

Moacir Santos- Maestro (1972)

>Brazilian, jazz, fusion
>Rather than focusing on the more worn-out Brazilian styles like bossa and samba, Santos fuses more obscure styles like baião and frevo with the jazz fusion sound popular in the States, and creates a very unique sound.

>just now seeing this for the first time

Void - Sessions 1981-83
>hardcore punk

Scott Colley- This Place (2000)

>post-bop, sax trio
>Another take on a “chordless” ensemble, this recording features just sax, bass, and drums. The trio fills out the space well and handles the freedom that this setting offers with great vigor. Potter’s unique approach to motivic improvising is in full display here with his tenor playing, but he also delivers a subdued performance on bass clarinet.
I think someone just made a picture trying to pass it as a real album cover, and everyone else just jumped on the "joke".
Anybody got Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food? Every link in the archive is broken.

Sabu Martinez- Palo Congo (1957)

>Afro-Cuban, Latin Jazz
>This album is percussion heavy and also heavily features traditional Afro-Cuban vocals and chanting.

John Escreet- Sabotage and Celebration (2013)

>progressive jazz, free jazz
>Pianist John Escreet takes influence from avant-garde greats like Cecil Taylor and Andrew Hill, but he also takes elements from classical composers too. This album highlights his compositional skill, with a regular band plus a string quartet, for music that is very intense and energetic. The improvising is equally intense, and the piano solos are particularly abstract and free.

Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota - Gulp! (1985)

>Post-punk, new wave. Their debut and their most lo-fi release. Middle ground between post-punk and new wave, way poppier than their latter albums, with also a couple rock & roll cuts. Pure fun.

Face Candy- Waste Age Teen Land (2011)

>free rap, jazz hop
>Led by Michael Larsen (a.k.a. Eyedea) this group plays acoustic, improvised music with rapping provided by Larsen and Kristoff Krane, accompanied by bass and drums. Unfortunately Larsen died before this recording was released, making it the group’s last.

Hal Galper- Reach Out (1976)

>Hal Galper is a somewhat forgotten pianist, who worked often as a sideman in the 70’s on a lot of great post-bop albums. He leads this album, with many of his own compositions and a fantastic band. Brothers Randy and Michael Brecker sound amazing on this album on trumpet and saxophone.
Sure, there you go: http://www5.zippyshare.com/v/15244634/file.html

But get Soulseek if you can, it's easy to use and you can find almost everything you want on it.

Jonathan Kreisberg- Shadowless (2011)

>fusion, post-bop
>Probably the best example of Kreisberg’s unique approach to jazz compositiona and soloing. These are complex compositions but they are also extremely approachable and even catchy. Alto player Will Vinson is the perfect saxophonist to play Kreisberg’s music and the two play together amazingly on this album.

Gerardo Nunez- Calima (1998)

>flamenco, jazz
>Nunez is a Spanish guitarist and one of the best in Nuevo flamenco, which mixes traditional flamenco guitar with jazz as well as Caribbean and Brazilian music influences.
Thanks, I'll be sure to.

Also, there's a lot of cool stuff ITT, thanks for sharing.

Gabriela Montero- Bach and Beyond (2006)

>classical, improvisation
>Pianist, Gabriela Montero is originally from Venezuela and became interested in classical music at a young age. Unlike most classical pianists, she has continued the tradition of improvisation that used to be required of composers and musicians. On this release she interprets Bach’s themes with her unique style of improvisation.

Alex Sipiagin- Destinations Unknown (2011)

>post-bop, fusion, free jazz, composition
>Sipiagin is one of the most talented trumpet players and composers on the jazz scene today. This album showcases his compositions with complex, contrapuntal compositions that have extended, multi-sectional forms. The compositions lead into improvisations that are extremely dynamic and free, with a very high level of interplay from the entire band, which consists of some of the brightest players in contemporary jazz.

David Axelrod- Heavy Axe (1974)

>soul, funk, jazz
>This is a great blend of funky, jazzy soul. Axelrod includes some of his own interesting pieces but also does some great covers of tunes like “You’re So Vain” and “Cast Your Fate to the Wind.”

I really hate to beg since i have nothing to contribute but does anyone have anything like Galctic Melt? or any Toe?

Elvin Jones and Jimmy Garrison- Illumination (1964)

>avant-garde, post-bop, free jazz
>John Coltrane’s longtime rhythm section released this album in 1964 with a sound that was a bit more free and unusual than what most of them would do in the future. The feel sticks mostly to a solid swing from Garrison and Jones, but the soloists (Sonny Simmons on alto and English horn, Charles Davis on bari, and Prince Lasha on clarinet and flute) take liberties and push things into the realm of free improv.

Loren Stillman- Trio Alto Vol. 2 (2007)

>post-bop, free jazz, sax trio
>This is adventurous post-bop that pushes towards free improvisation. Stillman leads this “chordless” trio through his original tunes which have open-ended improvisational sections that lead to some exceptional group interplay.

Jimmy Giuffre- Tangents in Jazz (1955)

>cool jazz, third stream
>Giuffre plays a variety of woodwind instruments and brings a unique contrapuntal approach to cool jazz. The approach is similar to that of the classic Gerry Mulligan quartet, but with Giuffre switching between different woodwinds, each tune has a unique texture.

thanks man I love these guys

Miguel Zenon- Jibaro (2005)

>post-bop, Latin jazz
>This quartet consists of players who all come from Latin music backgrounds but on this recording they stay mostly within the confines of post-bop jazz. The music doesn’t often swing, but alto player Zenon and pianist Luis Perdomo manage a high level of adventurous, post-bop style interplay over Zenon’s very complex, yet accessible and memorable compositions.

oh shit this sounds dope
Thank you Jazzbro posting all the albums, you are a cool guy

Fred Hersch- Alone at the Vanguard (2011)

>solo piano, jazz
>Fred Hersch is the only pianist in history to have been asked to play a solo engagement at New York’s most famous jazz club. He interprets standards and original tunes with a delicate touch and an absolutely beautiful sense of melody and harmony.

>not ripping from lossless digital

Pulpo’s Hot Bread (2009)

>salsa, Latin jazz
>Pianist Gilberto Colon Jr. worked and toured with many of the Fania allstars in the golden age of salsa. On this album his band Pulpo re-interprets some salsa classics as well as original music in a variety of Cuban, Puerto Rican, and other Carribean styles. There are some tracks with vocals but for the most part the album is instrumental based and features some fantastic piano solos. Think Monk meets salsa.

David Binney- Bastion of Sanity (2005)

>jazz, rock, free jazz
>Binney’s music blends elements of rock and metal music with the improvisational leanings and instrumentation of jazz. Binney has incredible skill on the alto sax, but it is his distinctive approach to improvising and his creative compositions that set his music apart.

Fats Navarro- Nostalgia (Released 1958, Recorded 1947-49)

>bebop, swing
>Trumpeter Fats Navarro is another jazz legend who died at a tragically young age. This recording captures him in his prime and following in the footsteps of his hero Dizzy Gillespie, with intense bop numbers, but also proving capable of a more relaxed, melodic style of playing.

Craig Taborn Trio- Chants (2013)

>modern creative, improvisation, third stream
>Pianist Craig Taborn’s trio looks like a traditional piano trio (piano/bass/drums) but the final product doesn’t sound like any other trio out there. The music blends intricate, creative compositions, with tight, subtle group improvisation, making it difficult at times to tell where the compositions end and the improvisations begin. The unique sense of harmony and rhythm within the group almost gives it a sound that is closer to European modern classical music than jazz.

Kenny Wheeler- What Now? (2005)

>An absolutely stellar quartet (with no drummer) playing Wheeler's compositions in an extremely intimate setting. The strength of the players and their sense of compatibility with one another keeps you from ever missing the drums.

Patricio Rey y Sus Redonditos de Ricota - Bang! Bang!!... Estás liquidado (1989)

>Alternative rock, hard rock. THIS one is my favorite by them, fuck what I said before. Just listen to the samples. It has their strongest individual highlights, their best and most memorable riffs, even the more traditional r&r tracks don't feel like filler. Also the production and overall sound is improved. Thirty minutes and so of top-tier rock music.
