>Jangle, Dream, Pop, Psych, Shoegaze, 4track

Just put out a new song!
Nice, clear production and some neat synths.
The bass synth is a little too swag for me but what do I know. I'm not saying it's redundant or bad, but I might suggest you try out a rhythm other than that thick ass hip-hop beat now that you've explored that one a bit.

Anybody and everybody feel free to check out whatever link(s) sound interesting and please don't hesitate to leave any feedback at all. Thanks.

All instruments performed by myself and recorded on my computer:

this is really good guys
I'm a fan of a tight funk rhythm. Clean playing and clear audio is also a plus. The overall style is a tiny bit corny but I dig it.

I like the raw bluesy style and the groove/jam structure. The playing is a tad rough around the edges but it would definitely still impress the musical laymen.

thanks for the feedback man. i can see where you're coming from about the bass, i gotta start finding more/better ways of doing things

>Sad VHS Garage
Now that beat is fly. I just wish you were half as good at giving other people feedback.

This is a little something that I recorded a couple years ago with two buddies of mine. Other than my friend's ugly resolution on lead at the very last second and my overly subdued rhythm guitar in the mix, I think it turned out really well.
>Instrumental stoner post-rock jam
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. It's a bit rough now but we'll clean it all up soon enough.

This is dope, let's make a split tape brew

I've seen you recced a lot, I guess now I know why. What equipment do you use?

You're onto something, get a bit of a netmusic vibe from you.
I use Ableton for most of everything. The chiptune bits are magical 8-bit plugin, though I'd love to start using real Gameboys for that, just don't have the cash or the time to learn right now. The guitars are all my old Epiphone Les Paul Ultra that I've had since a couple years after I started playing with the exclusion of the acoustic guitar part on "Everything Will Be OK," which was a Taylor 314-CE. Everything else is just straight Ableton and VSTs I've accumulated over the years. Glad you liked my music. :D

Jesus, well produced. Vocals are on-point, guitar playing sounds great, everything is recorded well. It reminds me a lot of Andrew Jackson Jihad, which is a good thing. A+.

I don't even like trap music, but this is pretty good. Are you a fan of Blank Banshee? Air Tycoon? It reminds me of stuff like that. Overall pretty good, A-.

Any of your feedback is appreciated

Hey man, it's Shadrew. Gonna check out this EP soon. I really recommend these guys, they have amazing energy.
You should totally check them out, they're a really awesome folk punk band from my city
first one a folkish tune solo guitar and vocals second one is a very well put together indie rock progressive jam

yeh man, blank banshee is one of my favs & thanks for the feedback :D
I kind of like your melancholy tune. They haunty synth reminds me of Majoras Mask. Its a neat combo of the guitar and synth. It would be cool to use in a video game
thanks man!

Thanks man I appreciate the feedback. I never saw that angle of those tunes before; if only I made video games too.

Whats funny is that the hexagon one really reminds me of the music from the game Hexic, which is a puzzle hexagon game.
Here is what I am talking about:

Is it because there is no feedback? I am the one who gave Jarrett feedback sorry I did not put them in my post

This is my most recent release. Its a R&B freestyle over the instrumental of the meme rap hit CoCo by O.T. Genasis. I wanted to test out my voice over a trap beat and I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
I make mostly R&B music. Both fast paced shit for the clubs and slower more ballad-like shit. I'm only 18 so I plan on expanding my style as time goes on.

Your writing and arranging is pretty clever, and definitely has appeal. If I was you I would work on tweaking your sound a la synths and drum samples themselves- I would say it [your sound design specifically] really has that beginner soundcloud vibe (something I struggle with myself). That second section around the 3 minute mark is real tight though.

Reeeal nice. Flooded with musicality and feeling. I see you produce as well- you should look into using your DAW as a loop pedal and make an awesome live set or something (if you haven't already). Are you in any sort of alternate tuning or can you just jam that well?

Sick. Listened to heroin Moxy and Lab Rats and they were all both proper tunes. Love to hear shit like that in town. I am also on oxy right now, that may be helping.

Here's a private link to a little beat I'm working on at the moment- I would love any critical feedback on it. I think it's pretty clear I'm going for a Flying Lotus vibe, but I've injected a little bit of my own flavour into it. I'm away from my monitors currently so excuse the mix.

My band "The Phantom Hour" just dropped a new tune today. Really mellow ambient poppy vibes

I'm gicing feedback on the last one who gave feedback:
I think the mix is too 50s for my taste. Hard panned instruments throws me off a little. I really like the acid vibes on "Slow Jam" and "Barakiah". "#1 (Landlocked Misery Song)" is pretty cool as well. I am not quite able to appreciate the vocals on your songs.. Even though I feel that they are sort of suiting your sound, I still feel like better vocals would make it better.

>ambient hip-hop, trap bass, flow, melodic
i will return all feedback on sc

>mostly electronic
Ofc A dude posts feedback while I'm writing mines. I'll make it right.

Dope percussion. I like your samples. More bass in the kick maybe? I'd like the synth to be a little fatter or maybe a little louder. Idk. I feel like there should be some calmer segments in it... Cus now it's almost like it's climaxing all the way through. Maybe I feel like that because it is so short lol. Cool stuff though.
bro people already like your songs and got over your viral scandal. stop samefagging
thanks man- what you said were my thoughts as well so it's comforting to know i'm on the same page as someone.
honestly, it gets old pretty quick. imo in electronic music you have to vary your synth tones frequently and make an effort to sculpt the sound more. 5/10
imma listen to new music and give really bad feedback pt1

i love the trippy, vibe-out instrumentation you've got going on. your flow is really solid, but personally i don't really dig the lyrics as much, so that's what I would recommend working on.
cool track, really dig the artwork. i think something more stand out vocally would really complete this. as is the vocals are kind of underwhelming and i hope you don't take too much offence to this but sadly generic.
nice simple beat. like the nature vibe / samples. not really a whole lot going on tho
this is like a 3spooky5me version of the spongebob dance rave music when hes raving with the jelly fish
i was expecting the dadadadaa dadadadaa..... dadadadaa dadadadaa to come in
interesting. reminiscent the stuff I used to but up on soundcloud but obviously you're are leagues ahead of what I can do on guitar.
very pretty soundscapes. the rhythmic samples towards the middle of the song are cool too.
the only thing really holding this back is the poor production. it sounds too muffled. great song otherwise.
a continuous reccomendation of mine. great stuff by this dude!
OH SHIT dude a friend of mine DJs your stuff all the time! this is so wierd!
I have gotten blazed and vibed out to your shit for hours apparently

Op this made me want to kill myself, why would you experiment with THIS kind of music? There is just SO much more out there, let it die. Let it die. LET. IT. DIE.
thanks, i plan on adding either a lead (or combination of leads) or putting some vocal samples over the top. along with another section. what do you think?

its neat. sounds good but fairly rudimentary. I'm more into the sort of Melody AM type stuff royksopp did so i guess thats what i was expecting. towards the end it gets a lot more groovy, so i guess 6.7/11 would chill to

first time hearing german rap. I can't understand it but it sounds pretty
i'm not much of a metal guy but i like this. i wanna say it sounds kinda gazey, the vocals and spacey, noisey guitar are what i'm into.
yes. i can chill to this.i can picture this being the soundtrack to a short film where a very chaotic world is put on pause and two people are still moving about free to explore the world together from an altered perspective and fall in love with each other while gaining a new sense of place
i downloaded your album a while back and really dig the vibe you guys have. very unique style.

Just uploaded a Christmas track ... more to cum

Thanks so much for the kind words, as I usually say, I've never made any money on my music yet so I pretty much just work for compliments and just want people to hear my stuff right now. I'm just getting around to actually recording my guitar stuff, I just improvise like this every day for almost two and a half years now.

If anyone knows any similar sorts of fingerstyle guitarists out there I could check out, let me know. I take a lot of inspiration from guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Leo Kottke, and Joe Pass, as well as artists like B.B. King and Eric Clapton (Cream days specifically).

Thanks a lot :). I already sort of do that (I've done everything in just NanoStudio and Audacity thus far, planned to move up some day to Ableton but never got around to it. In the end I just got really good at using these two programs), but I have a Boomerang III loop pedal (used for The Snow Job). I've started recording my creative sessions so I'll be putting up a number of songs this week.

Do you think people would be cool with listening to me do something like Melange and/or The Snow Job live? Just single guitar stuff at an open air art festival for example? I'm still trying to figure out what's acceptable for a live performance for a single musician/guitar player. Like I was thinking maybe it would be best to make the songs short, so I just build percussion loop -> bass loop -> rhythm/secondary lead loop, then break them down and the delete them all, and start the process over again. I'm pretty good at doing this and making each succession a different song, like 10-15 times in a half hour I'm thinking. Or if I should do longer passages like a 12 bar blues that I improvise over for longer?

Leaning towards short loops/songs to avoid repetitiveness, since I can pretty much always come up with some sort of blues song that will fit over any beat, and I can come up with a lot of different rhythms.

Standard tuning, btw, except C# instead of E
>>52151582 is >>52150105 btw.

Thanks man. I am indeed working on my lyrics. Cobain & Them is the last song that I wrote, even though it's not the last one that I released. It is the song that I am the most satisfied with, lyrically.
I'm pretty sure setting it up in ableton wouldn't be too hard, you would just have to understand how clips work in session view. Buy a couple of usb foot controllers and map them to do whatever.

I think people would absolutely be down for listening to that. As a musician you seem to know what sounds pleasing to the ear, and with that skill alone you could easily get paid to fuck around. One thing I will say about this loop idea is that it's not really the kind of thing you would release- the appeal would be that you're creating the loops and stuff like (people eat that shit up haha)
hope my two cents helped

Try adding more chords instead of doing two note counterpoint. If you played chords with different voicings for every note from 0:15 to 0:20 I'm sure it would sound good. Also, try re harmonizing some (eg. replace I with vi or iii/Secondary dominant stuff or extended secondary dominant stuff/modal interchange..Tri tone subs/ascending descending diminished chords etc)

So my band is playing their first show this New Years, but the other bands we are playing with are nowhere near our genre. I mean, we're already booked, but I'm pretty sure the audience isn't going to be on our side. For instance, the main band that is playing (the one we're opening for) is this :
>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6Yu2mRSkcY [Open]

While, this is our music :

I get the feeling we won't be well received. What should I do /mu/? Is any publicity good publicity? Or should I just cancel the show? I got warned for posting this earlier, and I'm not really sure why.

your music is cool tho keep it up, and try look for more local acts along your style to hook up with and get shows with
Sweet. Vinyl crackle seemed slightly ott for me but it's a lovely track overall. Especially liking the jazzy guitar lines playing off that synth tone.

>psych-rock jam, funky, sexy, headnodworthy

Thanks man, and yeah obviously there's a large difference between live and studio work. If people are happy listening and watching me make loops with just a guitar from scratch over and over, that would be great. There's this fairly large (couple hundred people) local art festival they have every year in my town where they get local musicians to perform, in September. I avoided it this past year because I've never performed live (as a solo act. I did orchestra [violin] and chorus throughout 5-12 grade), but I think I'll be ready for 2015.

Above all else I just want to find a way to play the music I personally enjoy listening to, and have an audience that enjoys it too. If I can limit it to people only disliking it based on personal preferences and not play mistakes, all the better.

It doesn't even have to be all loop stuff. Would be nice to get some feedback on whether people would like to hear something like Melange done live (just a solo fingerstyle acoustic guitar piece improv that just changes based on whatever I think up). I know I've really enjoyed solo pieces like Joe Pass doing Summertime, so I figure it's at least possible (love this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkinLvUrUYE&hd=1 ).

I could mix it up a bit and do a combination of both, and even have songs where there's just a longer bass line and/or rhythm section, but no percussion/drums. I'm also a huge fan of Reggie Watts, you could say he (and to some degree Dub FX) got me into looping in the first place.

The greatest asset of the looping imo though is the ability to add a drum part, people love drums especially with a rhythm that can be danced to. I can pretty much turn my Ovation into a bass guitar (you can hear it in The Snow Job, that bass line is actually an acoustic guitar) by boosting the bass and dropping the mids and treble.

>genre: muh shrooms

I also own a Gibson ES-335 which I'll be uploading some songs from soon, that's a lot of fun too because of the different tone. Can't really do percussion on it since it doesn't have the piezo pickup like the Ovation (except maybe 4-on-the-floor kick sort of sounds), but that shouldn't matter much.

It would be nice if I could figure out how to run my Laney TF-300 through my Scarlett 2i2, it has a line out (different than the speaker output) but idk how to get it to work properly or if that's even what you'd use. The gain channel on that sounds so damn creamy, I'll probably just have to resort to mic'ing it with my SM58 (only mic I have but it's great).

demo's me and my band made

Pretty chill, listening to demo 3 and think your timing needs some work, especially the drummer sounds like he needs to get a bit tighter with keeping the rhythm.

I like the ideas though, demo 2 is sounding better in this regard though it needs some mastering work (guitar should have some of the highs rolled off in EQ since it's a bit sharp-sounding, and a bit too loud). A bass boost would be appreciated here as well, as it's hard to even hear the bass guitar. It should have a stronger prescence imo, especially if it's the only bass instrument (and thus can take up the lower frequencies without any competition, especially with rock drums you should likely be able to "punch through" a thick bass).

Listen to the first song on this album, listen to the bass line in particular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eQUNh3CUFac&hd=1 . Notice how great it sounds when it has that presence? How the drummer stays on perfect rhythm, with just enough humanistic "slack" without missing the beat? That's what you want.
