Any 10/10 music documentaries that you'd recommend? I'm on Christmas break from college, and would love to have a nice list to watch.
this is really good, documentary itself is as minimal hypnotically paced as the music throughout
"We Don't Care About Music Anyway".
Highlights the modern Japaneses Avant-garde music scene. Here's the trailer:
it's not as if they're for being listened to in pristine quality
probably only used for sampling fragments of sound here and there. record being warped ain't no thing- might even add an interesting effect if anything
Backstory, it's about the fortunes of two bands The BrianJonesTown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols who signed onto a major label. It's about how BJTM and it's leader Antone Newcome spectacularly fuck up everything like an indie version of spinal tap while the Warhols who were once indie become caricatures of bad mainstream label acts trying to live of pseudocredability. its such a good film you need to watch it
>in the late 90s, a foreveralone interviews other foreveralones that are addicted to collecting thousands of records
Its actually really endearing and entertaining
lol wow its what /mu/tants would be like without an internet connection enabling sitting on the internet all day shitposting and posting charts without reccing
def bookmarked for later, that's a neat find anon
"Hit So Hard"
It's about Patty Schemel, the drummer for the band Hole and her trials and tribulations. Really, it a good look at Hole in general and, thought that lens, the larger popular music culture in the early and mid '90s. Oh, and Cortney Love is clearly intoxicated during her interviews, which is always entertaining. It can get a little SJW in parts, but it's about the junkie lesbian drummer from Hole, so it kinda comes with the territory.
Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone.
Fantastic if you dig 90s alternative, punk, ska, funk, rock, or whatever - its a very interesting and entertaining doc to watch,
People Who Do Noise (about the Portland noise scene)
Live From Tokyo (about all kinds of experimental musical artists from Tokyo)
Such Hawks Such Hounds (about Stoner/Psych-rock)
I can't fucking wait for that shoegaze doc to be released, and I'm really hoping the new Elliott Smith one actually gets released too.
I've wanted to watch Before the Light Takes us, about the early Norwegian Black Metal scene and the whole Euronymous/Varg/church burnings, but I've heard mixed reviews. Would
anyone recommend it?
