Also good for dream pop, blackgaze, and noise pop.

i think i'm starting to get Ride - Nowhere
Speaking of Ride, how about this guy? I have been revisiting Going Blank again.
>unoriginal and bland rock music with a shoegaze flavour
Anyone heard anything about the new LSD and the Search for God album?
Also, finally got around to listening to this, I loved it way more than Loveless.
maybe i just dont get rock music but i literally like a single shoegaze record from the past millenia. and i like to convince myself the foundations to cocteau twins are a lot more notable than the atrocities of shit rock music that followed them and that sound
watched beautiful noise and that am now completely convinced myself mbv is the only relevant rock shoegaze band
have you listened to a place to bury strangers or the ecstasy of saint theresa
You know what's really boring about shoegaze? It's basically Loveless: The Genre. Every new album that gets praised seems to be evaluated on how close it is to Loveless. Hell most of /mu/ doesn't even like Ride which is the second-biggest classic shoegaze band.
All the shit that crops up and gets hype here is more copycat stuff in the Loveless template. After two decades you'd think they'd come up with something different. The only thing that sort of goes in a different direction is J-gaze and only because it's poppier and punkier, still not exactly a revolution.
any recommendations for stuff like this?
I love this band and I've already heard most of what they've done. Also, any French shoegaze stuff out there worth listening to? I love the language so much.
Just listened to the new Title Fight album. I was really impressed considering their old material was emo I guess. I'm guilty of never listening to their old stuff though.
Great albums. Ride is my favorite gaze band.
Listen to the track, Grasshopper, if you haven't already.
So suprised this was as good as it is
do you listen to shoegaze or are you just speaking out your butt
lol is this a joke
I wouldn't even know where to begin there's just so many, start with School of Seven Bells - Alpinisms on the chart I posted and just move down the line from there, I think the first row has a real bunch of female vocals, but the whole chart is probably over 50% female vocal oriented.
Any Rec's for Dream Pop like this?
This album just creates the most beautiful, peaceful, harmonious, angelic, dreamy atmosphere and also fills me with joy.
Not what I had in mind either; I play the drums already but hope to buy my friend's guitar and start learning that. When I do; I'll work towards making a black dreamgaze album. It'll be called Itherael or something of the sort.
Idk if this is shoegaze but it sounds pretty good.
it's called nature eternal striving, very atmospheric, long tracks.
I've been looking for some months, and I'm pretty sure this album is completely unique. Not that many things can come close in terms of sound.
Also what would be your favourite song from that album? (apart from the first one of course)
Rollerskate Skinny - Horsedrawn Wishes
>Noise Pop, Shoegaze,
Moose - ...XYZ, Slowdive - Souvlaki, Cocteau Twins - Treasure
Slowdive, Moose, Cocteau Twins, Mazzy Star, MBV
>Slowdive's other material besides Souvlaki especially Just For a Day. I think Spanish Air and Ballad for Sister Sue are two of their best songs
If you haven't already check out Moose
>Things you dislike about the style shoegaze as a whole?
I prefer Dream Pop over shoegaze mainly because there are only a small number of shoegaze bands that are actually good and most modern bands are trying to sound like MBV too much. Also I would call Slowdive dream pop mainly with some shoegazey parts
I listened to this, and it wasn't good. Why do you guys like it? I really tried liking it but I didn't.
Love the album art though
This is fairly dreamy at times.
Airs - Adore
I forgot I had listened to this album for a while. It's pretty fuck good.
Belong - Common Era
>Post-Punk, Shoegaze, Ambient?
The Depreciation Guild - In Her Gentle Jaws
It's pretty cursory. The questions that are asked in interviews are boring. You get the sense that Kevin Shields and Robin Guthrie and the guys from JAMC are brilliant, but you don't get any cool insights.
Piles and Piles - Premonitions Say
>math rock + shoegaze
>new album on the way
>lush walls of guitar sound
>Having shit taste in shoegaze.
>Posting plebbiest Moomin character from plebbiest Moomin adaption.
You should murder yourself.
I've listened to a couple shoegaze albums, mainly this one.
I've been meaning to get into shoegaze, but I can't seem to like some. I tried listening to loveless and i couldn't really get into it, same thing with pygmalion.
Anybody have any suggestions?
First I thought 'how is this shoegaze?' and then I realized it's actually a really solid altrock album that happened to exist on the right place at the right time. Thoughts on this beast?
>Do you think I should revisit Pygmalion after listening to Souvlaki for a while?
I'd go back to Just for a Day first. Pygmalion is certainly worth revisiting but it's pretty much 'Slowdive listen to Laughing Stock once and make a record about it'.
Right I'm listening to Souvlaki right now.
I really do prefer this over Pygmalion, I don't really know how to explain it.
Will totally check out their first album next.
underrated band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRdZS9j5atY
Do you guys like The Brian Jonestown Massacre? I've been digging Methodrone lately.
suck my belly button for 27 hours dollars ummm grand canyon the grass is greener on the other side
stop listening to it expecting "shoegaze". if you've read interviews regarding the album it's got a kind of anti-perfection, almost no-wavey feel to it. i think they released the most accessible tracks as singles. highlights for me are: love high, im so clean, i will die. last track sounds like an unhinged deerhunter song recorded with an ipod nano but mastered really well, its actually cool as fuck. don't write it off bc of the singles.
Recently bought this at a closing FYE for 12 bucks. It's my favorite shoegaze album of the year.
But recently just downloaded that popular Sweet Trip album for the first time so I can't wait to listen to it.
Sorry I meant of last year, I didn't know there were enough shoegaze albums coming out to already start considering AOTYs. But I also have the new APTBS so I'm fucking excited for that.
I listened to those tracks, with a lowered expectation, and I can say it wasn't bad. I feel it'll be a "has to grow on me" album. I went in kinda expecting this at first
A Place to Bury Strangers - Exploding Head
>Post-Punk, Shoegaze, Noise Rock,
I'd consider it to be essential.
Swervedriver is very underrated. Prime Shoegaze for the alternative/grunge crowd. They really got down a sort of euphoric rush with a bonus additional wall of sound. One of a kind. I get so hypnotized and lost in the jam sections.
Coaltar of the Deepers - Yukari Telepath
The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Methodrone
>Shoegaze, Neo-Psychedelia, Psychedelic Rock,
Ceremony - Distance
>Shoegaze, Noise Rock, Post-Punk,
Xinlisupreme - Tomorrow Never Comes
>shoegaze, noise rock, noise,
Rollerskate Skinny - Shoulder Voices
>Noise Pop, Shoegaze,
They haven't (yet) but I figure it would be somewhat like a mix between Pygmalion and Souvlaki. There's no label trying to push them right now so it probably won't be another pop record but I think they realize Pygmalion was a bit of a dead end.
