You could go a lifetime without hearing Mogwai, Mono, Explosions in the Sky and half of the uninspired trash on Constellation Records like DMST and still be a seasoned post-rock listener. Bad chart.
also, is pic related considered post rock? been enjoying it a lot lately
What has happened to this fucking board?
I remeber the glory days when the tripfags were
cool and the k-shits were mocked.
Now we have faggots like OP who don't get
called out when the post shit like >>53188970
Please give me my board back
thats not what I said. post rock is different than popular music, but all post rock is pseudo-epic sounding guitars and other weird instruments playing boring pink-floyd esque instrumentals.
>listens to five artists in one genre
>"Now i know everything about it"
How to into post-rock:
Listen to post-rock albums.
You fucking faggots actually have to listen to albums in order to know how you feel about them not listen to shit charts and faggot posters who tell you not to listen to shit.
why don't you listen to the real post-rock?
Recommend me something similar to Labradford bitches.
i might as well post my chart
bowery electric - beat, but not really that similar
>not this Pram album
It's like you're not even trying to be patrician
in fact, you're the one that's missing the point here. i was just suggesting that he should check out bark psychosis, disco inferno, tortoise, talk talk, stereolab, cul de sac and other 90s post-rock milestones, because he clearly has not.
his lesson no. 1. obligatory sonic youth. swans have been using some of his ideas throughout their whole career. general noise rock.
yeah i couldn't believe how good it was, and how overlooked it was here in favour of Swans. (wasnt gira a member of his band though?)
The longer minimalistic pieces are absolutely brilliant.
Igor wakhevitch, who he is a fan of, was a really great discovery too. Hathor, docteur faust and logos specifically.
i never really got into sonic youth, daydream nation sounded very laid back and boring for me.. whats your favourite from them?
God that chart is terrible.
Pic related, listen to some Talk Talk.
How come yall getting baited so easy. A newfag make a plebby post-rock chart... soo? None of you discuss anything objectively. None of you discuss their music, just their reputation.
This board is so fucking boring now. 4chan is cancer
has anyone said kind of like this head? i'm in!
you mean branca's theoretical girls? no he wasn't a member. give them a listen if you haven't already though.
thanks for mentioning wakhevitch, i never heard of him before. will definitely check him out.
daydream nation. but i still suggest you to check out at least evol, sister and goo. you might like those more.
oh no i meant the records by his own name. i think i read it in a booklet from a Branca record but i very well might be wrong..
never heard of theoretical girls, will look into it.
and please do
i dont really know what im looking for but other noise rock and post punk doesnt sound very interesting to me..
How did you guys feel about this?
Or their older albums
not listened to them all thoroughly, but they seem to be more slower and laid out works. the repetitive drums are still there, but more on the background. i have trouble differentiating the guitars and other string instruments (it seems most of it is guitar work?) - slow and very symphonic sounding drones tend to be in focus in symphony no 1 and symphony no 2 and symphony no 5
symphony no 9 is complete orchestral music i think
i like them more than the ascensions, there are less dated sounding twing-twangs for me
it's all worth giving a try to, definetly
lesson no.3 might be the best piece of guitar music i ever heard
Why doesn't anyone ever talk about this masterpiece? It's always average shit like GY!BE or STFB.
>the one post-rock chart that includes Telegraphs In Negative/Mouths Trapped in Static
>deems it "too weird" and forces you to detour to pleb shit
