>I don't identify as a feminist because I think it would isolate me. I think it’s important to do positive stuff. It’s more important to be asking than complaining.
>“I don’t ever think about [feminism] … I don’t see that there’s any need to be aware of being a woman in this business. It just seems a waste of time.”
>No, I wouldn't say feminist — that's too strong. I think when people hear feminist, it's like, 'Get out of my way, I don't need anyone.' I love that I'm being taken care of and I have a man that's a leader. I'm not a feminist in that sense
I facebook friended someone from /mu/ once. He reposted shit from some page called "The Patriarchy" about how women are inferior in every way and about how great it is to be white. He had Government Plates as his cover photo.
I unfriended him.
who the fuck wants to identify as a feminist these days
people forget that feminism at its is just wanting female equality
instead calling yourself a feminist is aligning yourself with all sorts of insane radicals that want all kinds of questionable shit
why do feminists get so angry any time someone doesn't consider themselves a feminist? I agree with what they believe in but being a fucking pissbaby on the internet is doing more harm than good
I agree with >>53440291 's post but theres no excuse for the modern day violent angry "feminists" that are wrongly said to sum up the entire community. Women today do have it harder than men and there is reason for feminism but honestly theres no excuse for the faux angry tumblr feminism that is alive today
it makes me sad to see a woman accept the way things are. we are still living in a patriarchy it just doesnt make sense to me how an intelligent open minded woman would not be a feminist. especially thinking that feminism is not positive or that its isolating. feminism is about achieving equality and fairness. being anti equality out of fear that its isolating? thats fucked up you should stand up for whats right no matter what.
>feminism is basically humanism
Not even close, man.
I never thought I would recommend taking anything from this silly website seriously, but their presentation of feminism is actually pretty decent: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/UsefulNotes/Feminism
It also addresses many of the criticisms people have against feminists.
Some feminists are hateful, misandrist and pretty much crazy. Not all of them are. You only hear about the worst ones nowadays because they're the most vocal.
Then there's also the fact that many feminists nowadays are no longer fighting for equal opportunities, but for equal respect — which is much more subjective and harder to evaluate. Issues like catcalling, the representation of women in media etc will always be problematic because they're perceived completely differently depending on the person. Sometimes both sides do have valid arguments.
> why do feminists get so angry any time someone doesn't consider themselves a feminist?
Well, that's a bit like saying "I'm not for ending segregation and racism" to a black person. Of course it depends on which image of "feminism" you have in mind.
> I agree with what they believe in but being a fucking pissbaby on the internet is doing more harm than good
Tumblr feminists are doing more harm than good, but dissing feminism altogether just because of them is also doing more harm than good.
Don't even start discussing this without arguments and evidence, it's pointless. Everyone thinks they have it harder than the others.
Still don't get why I should give a shit.
Wait mama I am detecting a power level.
