Hi fellas, just released my Alternative R&B EP. Would love to hear what you think, especially about the songs that haven't been released already as singles. Thanks for everyone who has given me feedback during the last two months and helped me with this process, I'm grateful beyond measure.

I'll return all the feedback as usual!

Thanks dude (even the first EP?) are you in the thread by chance?
The lo-finess is really out of place in the first one. Stop that.
The second track is boring, same beats in a really simple tune. Try more ideas (heck, just adding more instruments would do), or make it shorter.
The third is actually fine, I don't have remarkable complaints.
Did you try to sound like a chiptuned HANL in the third one? Don't do that again.
The last one was pretty good. Spacey and calm.

Overall, it's mediocre, but you can actually do good tunes. Just don't try to mess lo-fi with chiptune LIKE THAT again, that really turned me off.
Thank you anon!

I'll be careful with my lo-finess next time, I already have some ideas for my new "album". :^)

>atmospheric/minimalist folk, some freak folk

Thanks a ton for the support everyone

Good stuff:
thanks guys! this will be the last domina release for a while though. i am working on a huge fucking project. i mean like +4 hours of minimal techno. i think i might have an ep in reserve until then, but other than that, expect more shitty dark ambient.
Whats with bandcamp fags and starting new threads? Is posting in the thread first somehow better than posting when its 100 posts in?

I guarantee everyone who posted in this bandcamp poated in the other one
Well I didn't that's wrong
>Fangs Out
There's really a lot of genres in this album. Inconsistent, but it would be great as a soundtrack album, like that of Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill 2. I would call more attention on the less-energetic tracks, like soma pt. 1. Your zig-zag movements make these tracks almost boring. Dunno, make them louder or something to counter that.

I'll be looking forward to it.

there's not much to criticize from a drone ambient album. it's repetitive, but fits for ambient music that I don't want to listen to focusedly. it does the work it's supposed to do for me. it's good at it.

>Extreme Joy
I like the album name. Fix that shitty color palette you got in your bandcamp page.
As for the music, I like it. It's really samey, but you got a great rhythm and doesn't get boring. I don't know how to categorize it though. It feels a bit chiptuney and tribal at the same time, but it's clearly not.

i know. i'm having trouble classifying it myself. it's like chiptune minimal techno but it's to fast to be called techno sample heavy ambient or some shit. i just call it tapstep. thank you for the feedback! i've always tried to make stuff that relies or freaky beats. maybe on my next record i'll use a program that isn't a giant plie of assholes (fl studio). i'll try to fuck around with the page's design a little more.

I'm not really into R&B, so I don't know how to criticize this exactly. It's a calm album and I enjoyed that, at least. I wouldn't mind an acoustic album from the singer, either.

Dope stuff.
At times this album sounds really mediocre. The second track is such average pop rock, I almost felt like skipping it. Overall it isn't very good, but I enjoyed your more Emo tracks (Warm and Cigarette Burns). If you want and can, focus on that for future releases.

I think a little bit more going on would help keep things interesting. Maybe a more prominent synth or something.
this shit's pretty good. Dig the lyrics.
everything sits well in the mix except that crash. I was def nodding along, though.
I think it has potential, but I wish there was something going on over the chord progressions. Nothing crazy, just something to keep things moving forward and maybe fill out the sound. Like I feel like things really picked up and got interesting at about 3:00. I really liked ano nuevo, though.
>dat bass line
this is really good
like a less punk swearin, yeah this is pretty good. I'm really feelin the third track.
I could totally see this being a soundtrack to something. not bad.
1.I think the intro goes on a little bit too long. Maybe if you introduced and got rid of voices it would warrant 2 minutes but it kinda just floats in the same place for a minute or so.

2. put more feeling into your singing bb

3. I cant really follow the guitar. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that, but the rhythm keeps stuttering and shifting and I can't really get a hold of what is supposed to be going on. Maybe a little more practice would help? the bit with the phaser and the panning was cool, though.
dis was p cool, well produced and performed. I dig it brother.

Put up my link, so just went through the thread and picked a link that didn't have comments/feedback yet.

Comments by track number, as they occurred to me:

1. Just trying to get into your sound, I would snip it right off the album personally, start instead with

2. Cute, in and out, tight song.

3. I like this, the twee girl/guitar thing gets pushed to something clunky and punky. I like the tracks where you aren't afraid to go to "ugly" places.

4. Like on this one, where some of the last words in phrasing go off note or sound mangled in your mouth ("dying bre-AUth")

5. The lo-fi confessional angle works for a single track like this. Starts to get saccharine, it gets too much but then the pause and (*I'm not gonna lie...") sequence saves it. Nice.

6. More of this, just give up your words and do some digging in sound

7. Yeah, like this.

8. Groovy. Doesn't overstay itself.

9. Bringing me down with this one. The lyrics aren't special and the strumming at first is plodding. When things kick into higher gear that's cool, just start it right there, the ending is strong, nice.

10. Love ittttttt. Deep and sonorous in good ways.

11. cool resonance going on here with the humming and bending about the vocals. The quirky works.

12. oh shit, dem beats. u go grrl. This is perhaps the most conventional, but it's a pattern that works so that's good. love it.

13. TMI, hard to judge because obviously it's rough stuff you're singing about, so let's hear that anger. Want this same song building to a smashed guitar.

14. Very slick, like this.

15. Lyrics are cringe until the "Clint" verse, just start it there.

16. I'm a sucker for the beat. Fully committed song, like it.

17. Phrasing just sort of wanders around. dunno.

Overall, I think some self-editing can help. The first and last track can go; and to my ear, you can get to the best ideas of each track sooner than later. I like the more brave/experimental moments very much.

pretty much everything I can get my hands on.

I just got some arturia stuff for free, and a spark controller, so I'm using that for new jams. I also use Ardour, Finale, Kontakt, DP8, Hydrogen, various sample devices, tape recorders and so on.

Pretty good, imo it would benefit from being either cleaner or wonkier. The noiser songs are better than the quirkpop and the ambient.

Cool in theory but kinda awkward in execution, tighten up your playing a bit. Also work on the aesthetic a little bit; the artwork, song titles, and music don't really jive.

Not really my thing, awesome nonetheless. Great percussion, great sounding synths. The stereo effects get a little much at times though. Also dig your album covers and shit.

Kinda aimless, and sometimes too busy to be effective ambiance. *wave aesthetics are kinda a dead horse at this point.

Not a huge fan of your voice, I think I might like it more with some more snarl or something. Beats are pretty cool most of the time. Get some better synth sounds.

First transition in the first song is kinda rough, and some elements seem a bit out of time. Serious fucking potential. Gaze harder.

RAD. Now this is some good ambient. Mind if I ask how you did it?

Could benefit from more insanity honestly.

Beautiful cover art. Drums sound impressively real for being sequenced. Not much a fan of the vocalist, really dislike the way the vocals are produced. Cool guitar playing. Also props on using open-source stuff. Change your band name.

Do some more fingerpicking, and more intricate patterns. Most of the little flourishes are really cool, some kinda fall flat. Some of the lyrics are real groaners imo, but I guess that's just a side-effect of the genre.

Rather impressive that you recorded it on what google tells me is normal stereo cassette deck, as it sounds great. Solo instruments could stand to be brought up a little more. Great fuzztone. Playing is great. Streets of Philadelphia is kinda not up to the standard of the other two. Not really that important, but I wouldn't tag this as "American Primitive" because it isn't.
