ITT: Music festivals you're going to this summer.
>See you at Roskilde
I'm not sure if I'm even going to be able to go to a music festival this year, but if I do, it would be Pitchfork Festival. My other option is to wait for Lollapalooza's lineup to be announced and by a day pass for whatever day is best. The problem with Lolla is that the attendees suck ass. They are the worst music festival goers around mainly because half of them are underage Chicago kids fucking everything up at the EDM stage and spilling over to other stages. Another problem is that Lolla, out of the big music festivals, is the most pop-friendly fest out there. Fuck Lolla if they put Bastille and The 1975 on the bill
Anyone else plan on going to Bunbury this year?
anyone know anything about Donaufestival? i'm wanna go but i'm not sure
britfag going to reading, parts of the line-ups look alright, want to see the longlist tho
Reading is literally entirely 16 year olds lmao.
Also they insist on headlining Metallica every year.
Pretty cool how Royal Blood formed during a Reading gig and now theyre playing it though
any piefkes here going to dockville?
Pic related (Ravenna, early june), Tramlines (Sheffield, late july), ArcTanGent (Bristol, late august)
germany has some nice smaller festival nowadays. the big ones turned to complete shit, except for melt maybe.
a guy I know who's going said that green day have played nearly every year and that it might be them. I don't really care though, i'm not really bothered by the headliners
>your girlfriend is asking permission to fuck other people
nah, we've been discussing it for a while, and I asked to begin with
Going to pitchfork for the first time. Spending about a week in Chicago, anything I should know?
Man people were pissed as fuck he was headlining Outside Lands but out of 66k people in attendance he brought in 45k of those people and the rest were seeing Arctic Monkeys. Plus it was the fasting selling Outside Lands ever
Going to this with a buddy. The line-up is pretty meh but got a free ticket so why not.
>people actually fucking at festivals
How is it being 17 nowadays?
Enjoy your itchy junk the next day, the dried vomit a 15 yo girl gifted you and last but not least; those trips mane!
my old manager used to blast them in our restaurant at late hours, so i'm pretty familiar with their music. will do.
Been there 2 years, definetly going this year as well.
It's great, just as much for non danish people as natives.
If you are camping out, you have to be there at least a couple of hours before they open saturday at 4 pm so you can run in and get a tent spot. Depending on how much party you want to sleep through, the different areas provide different atmospheres. Find out where you want to camp, look at a map, and get entrance booking for the right entrance.
Also going to Roskilde
Don't give a fuck about any of the headliners so far, but the rest is look great
Especially hype for the metal this year
Probably staying in L this year, WW@?
Click Festival, Helsingor
>Lee "Scratch" Perry
>Keiji motherfucking Haino
Only half the lineup has been announced so far and my dick is rock hard already.
>In the lake every day of the warmup
NOS Primavera in Porto.
Cheaper Primavera without the headliner trash bands and in a significantly better city.
What's not to love, plus I'll be hitchhiking down the coast to Algarve afterwards.
Especially excited about Ride reunion, Spiritualized and Shellac. Underworld will be insane too, but not a fan except for the live experience.
Not as good as 2k14.
Where are you from?
Icelanders all speak English (including 60 year olds), but your look matters a lot for you to find girls. White skin dark hair is ideal, Northern European look is less intriguing, anything else is practically hopeless as they are slightly racist
White skin dark hair worked great though.
Sounds like you should live in G or L.
Theres plenty of drugs, just don't get caught i guess. Òne of my mates decided to try E, only had to go 3 tents down to find it. he camped in G.
They're trying to encourage people not to do them, I guess -- last year's anti-drug campaign was really fucking gay --, but I don't know if there are more actual cops than usual.
Getting caught seems hit-and-miss, I haven't had any problems with it, but two of my friends -- on separate occasions -- got tickets for weed, caught by some Serpico type undercover dudes.
I've always smoked at Roskilde, though I try to keep it inside the camp
Yeah I'm staying in L, weed's my only staple and you can get that anywhere or try and bring it yourself, but I wouldn't mind something different.
Considering Green Man, I've been the last 3 years and it was amazing, but the line up this year isn't doing so much for me. Last year had some ridiculous names, from the top of my head:
>Neutral Milk Hotel
>Sun Kil Moon
>War on Drugs
MetalDays in Slovenia, the camp is great
That's not much further than some of the bad camp sites, so it's not gonna ruin your trip. Sleeping in a bed and showering will make you appreciate the rest of the week more.
But if you can talk them into it, say to your weak friends that all your internet friends think they should go camping
Having a base of operations within the confines of the actual Roskilde Festival is central to the experience because you
>have a place to leave your shit and have someone look after it
>have a place to drink right up until and in between the concerts
>have a place to crash in between concerts
>don't have to clean up after yourself
If the weather's shitty, the weather's shitty, but if it's fine then it's also just great being outside all the time, and everything's basically way more fun when camping.
Might as well not fucking go.
I mean how often do you get the chance to see Autechre
The music may not be great but my half price tickets (know a guy who knows a guy) always make it a good weekend. Sure it's corny as fuck but you go there to get wasted, not listen to shoegaze.
Less than a month away
Too bad the lineup is kinda bleh but its always fun anyway
Say what you like, KISS is always a great live show to round off a few days of drinking. And if you look closely there's some moderately decent stuff on the smaller stages.
I've been fans of them since high school in the mid-2000s man. This is a weird feeling.
I don't hate it since they seem to be getting their long-overdue recognition, but it's strange.
Roskilde lineup a shit so far. Hopefully it'll turn out alright.
Mew has played at the biggest stage at the festival before. The same stage Stevie Wonder, The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Major Lazer, Outkast and Jack White among others, played at, and that was just last year. I'd say Mew are fairly big here.
Dl is always a great laugh. I used to get cheap tickets too, the atmosphere was always great and a couple of decent bands. Cant justify £200 odd quid on it though.
Going to Bestival once again. Hopefully another small one like 2k trees or Hevy.
I agree, the atmosphere is the reason I go these years. The majority of the lineup just isn't for me but there's always a couple of bands who make it worthwhile and even for the price of a ticket these days, you're hard pressed to find a long weekend away and two/three bands you really want to hear for the same cost.
I remember the first time I went there, just as a favour to a friend, filling in for someone who had pulled out. I was only seventeen at the time and didn't much care for festivals but holy shit, download that year cemented a place in my heart.
Eleven years later and I'm still going because I love it so much.
People can shit on the lineup and the fans as much as they like, download is great fun if you don't give a shit and just throw yourself into it.
Only half of the lineups been released so hopefully we'll get better than this shit. Other festivals seem much better, jelly of festivals with FlyLo, Portishead, Kendrick, Tame Impala etc.
Happy about Disclosure and Run the Jewels but Disclosure being the headliner is pretty embarrassing
I'm looking forward to Mew, disclosure, RTJ, The War on Drugs, Ukendt Kunstner and Susanne Sundfor.
I could also imagine that rustie and ratking would be fun to see
But it largely depends on the group i'm going with
