best prog metal albums of all time
dude that album was a classic
It has to be said.
Although, Tool and Meshuggah have produced stronger discographies and made greater contributions to metal.
It would be nice to see some love for Steven Wilson/PT, but it's hard to classify them as metal.
I think Obzen is better and more progressive than these 2 albums.
I love Obzen, too. I think it has better songs than Catch-33. I can't name a song from Obzen that isn't absolutely monstrous. However, when I take Catch-33 as a whole, I think it's a better expression what the band is all about. It's all about forcing the listener through these extended repetitions of strange, intensely syncopated, dissonant stuff, and Meshuggah never did that better than Catch-33.
I've never listened to Uneven Structure
What are they like?
If you like Tesseract and Cynic, you'll like this album, because it's literally those two things put together
What if I like Tesseract's gay vocals?
Daily reminder this is GOAT.
Pretty good albums.
I'd post Devin Townsend But IDK what would best represent him.
So I'll just post this instead.
there are some good albums on here but calling Haken and Riverside metal is a stretch imo
> Implying I don't already know about the greatness of Opeth. (Been there, done that.)
> Implying it replaces Language.
Nope - apples to oranges. Sorry, try again. I expected you to at least say Cynic or something.
How has this not been posted, you're all shit
Muse with chugging and bad production. Not bad though
The same thing, except really really really badly done. Like Altered State made by a rich 14 year old in his bedroom
No, neither are djent, but they appeal to the same people. (children)
The cheap synth atmosphere is a staple of the genre now too
Have you been out any time in the last four years? Asking Alexandria hasn't been in for fucking ages, they all listen to periphery now
And I'm not even kidding. I like Periphery a bit but their entire fanbase is metal core kids. Even worse is that they all fucking think they're so smart for listening to it, when really it's still childish music for children.
For me, Leprous are probably the GOAT band right now, especially within prog metal.
Ever had that feeling that a band knew exactly what you were looking for in music? Because Bilateral and Coal are the only time I've rated two albums by the same band a 10/10.
Really nervous for The Congregation. If these guys pull that off too, they'll definitely solidify themselves as my favourite musical act, period.
I'm sorry but not sorry for the dicksucking.
>I like the atmosphere and clean vocals and stuff
Or if I'm feeling less cynical, stuff like Arcane Roots, Chaos Divine, Breaking Orbit etc
>I like the prog
Can't go wrong with Leprous, Opeth, Enslaved, the list goes on
>I like the breakdowns
Go listen to Suicide Silence you babby
>Have you been outside
I just don't pay attention to the trends any more. Last show I went to was a Meshuggah one in New York. I'm aware that lots of people like Periphery, but it's not the same crowd I'm speaking of. Periphery doesn't have anyone for the scene girls to latch onto. I did see Periphery live a couple years back, but I didn't really care for their latest singles or new album. Sounded bad.
Yeah there are far fewer females in this scene, but it's still the same shit. Periphery is literally metalcore with more complicated parts. And they're not even good complicated parts, they're just wanky.
I like them because they're catchy as fuck tho, same reason I like Ariana Grande. So not exactly the high-brow music that the kiddies think they are
Okay, backpedal if you want, but still levying any criticism against a heavy metal band that's rooted in the notion that something they're doing is "inappropriate" is stupid. You sound like someone who professes to having exceptional reading comprehension so one would figure your vocabulary would be better.
