the fuck is going on
Some fucking corporate song and dance.
Don't really care. I mean, I like Ye's music, but that doesn't mean I should just do whatever he says. Or whomever else, for that matter.
Yeah pretty much. Some marketing thing, probably.
Jay z acquired a Swedish music streaming service and had a secret meeting with a bunch of other musicians about forming a musical version of united artists
deadmau5 and Jack White did it.
Considering cross-label/cross-genre, while simultaneously seeming to be about mainstream artists (unless you guys can get examples of underground guys doing this), it's probably some dumb marketing scheme.
I think its nice that musicians are trying to take back power from the music business jews but at the same time, im not going to buy music nigga.
>mfw people from what.cd figured out how to download from Tidal just like Qobuz
Music mogul Jay Z is expected on Monday to unveil his blueprint for high-resolution music streaming service Tidal.
A press invite for an event scheduled for Monday went out last week promising that "Shawn 'JAY Z' Carter and special guests will announce a commitment to a new direction for the music industry from both a creative and business perspective."
The hip-hop icon last month made a $56 million bid for the service and parent company Aspiro through Project Panther Bidco Ltd., which is indirectly-owned by his S. Carter Enterprises. The Scandinavian company Aspiro currently operates two music services, Tidal in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and WiMP, in Norway, Sweden and other parts of Europe.
The two services will now be operated under the name Tidal worldwide. The event, which will be live-streamed, will unveil "a new chapter" for the global streaming service
Will make sense tomorrow, KAABCCDJJJMNU
All dropping new music and pulling from spotify tomorrow. Kanye, Adele, ???, Beyonce, Calvin Harris, Coldplay, Deadmau5, J Cole, J Electronica, Jay Z, Meek Mill, Nicki, and Usher.
>global streaming service
>instant access into the music of millions of people
It has begun
The only time i ever could tell FLAC and 320 apart was when i tweaked the low-end a bit and pushed my volume to the point where i heard audible distortions from my headphones.
Obviously not happening with most music because of mastering or the nature of the style..
But still, i thought streaming was like a personal alternative to the radio, and i suppose i can only laugh at people who think they benefit from FLAC by listening to crappy top40 music.
I don't see how this is the 'legal' alternative to piracy though. Not when you could just pirate almost everything available without a care and easily supported the artist in Bandcamp or something, with no needless middle men involved.
Still a shit service for casual listeners, no matter the quality. And i have no intentions on carrying internet with me wherever i go
Source on those initials? If this is correct then JESUS this will be ridiculously huge. You're crazy for this one Jay. Not too excited for any of those people, but man does he have pull.
The music industry wants to destroy music streaming and free access, spotify is going to get purchased by universal music and the option for free streaming will be dropped.
Jay z's service has no free option and costs even more than spotify.
Greed is going to destroy streaming and people will go back to pirating.
This is going to be a disaster.
Well, in the way you put it, it's going to be great!
Just imagine all of that memepop losing shekels.
Dude seems well respected and Nicki does follow him on soundcloud.
If I just spent $56 million on a company I'd want to start with a bang also. A tidal wave of new music would make sense..
I don't think the demand is huge for higher quality streams though, hence the two-tiered subscription model.
I think their differentiation is going to be artist exclusivity; every sony/bmg artist will leave spotify for tidal, so your options if you want to listen to JayZ, Bey, etc. will basically be Tidal subscription, purchase on iTunes, or steal.
lol, people are shitting all over it already on the tweety

instead of #TIDALforALL why not make a campaign to HELP people who need it, rather than people who are already rich.

Remember when deadmau5 said he didn't care about illegal download? Things change
>paying $20 basically for FLAC streaming (rip in peace mobile data)
>people can pay less with Spotify for 320 streaming
stay jewish, Jay Z.
and all these artists participating were probably paid to advertise to their fans about this shit. I bet Daft Punk didn't have a single word about what is going on.
