James makes me Hurley
Can we please keep this thread going?
I loved how the first season and first half of second season until Leland died, they kept cutting and pasting the same music cues over and over again. When Lynch left, and the second half season Windom Earle plot began, oh shit, new soundtrack themes and recordings.
Sort of a spoiler, which I'm not too fond of since some people haven't seen this amazing show.
But I really liked the simplicity of the tracks. And the fact that you could know exactly which one of the tracks they were going to play for certain scenes.
I love the show so much that I don't even care that the second half of the second season was pretty shit.
Can we get some spoilers in here? Fuck you niggers, it's been out for over 20 years.
If Agent Cooper is possessed by Killer BOB at the end of season two, where can they take the next series. They're all old as fuck so it can't be a prequel and yet apparently Laura Palmer's going to be in it but that bitch was straight dead before the horse even came out of the starting blocks. What gives?
Also, if Audrey Horne doesn't have a fucked up lesbian scene like in Mulholland Drive, this series will be a light 5
Explain? Donna as in her character or in terms of looks?
>tfw no "25 years later" by Finch
>I love the show so much that I don't even care that the second half of the second season was pretty shit
This except I think there are still some great moment in the second half. We should've gotten more Major Briggs and less James though. Anyways the last episode is so amazing it makes up for all the bad moments leading up to it.
Yeah. Fucking plastic surgery shattered my dreams.
That would definitely be a tough blow too handle, and yes, that would definitely be MFW.
There seriously isn't a show I love more than Twin Peaks.
“Hipster” is a term co-opted for use as a meaningless pejorative in order to vaguely call someone else’s authenticity into question and, by extension, claim authenticity for yourself.
It serves no conversational function and imparts no information, save for indicating the opinions and preferences of the speaker.
Meanwhile, a market myth has sprung up around the term, as well as a cultural bogeyman consisting of elusive white 20-somethings who wear certain clothes (but no one will agree on what), listen to certain music (no one can agree on this either), and act a certain way (you’ve probably sensed the pattern on your own).
You can’t define what “that kind of behavior or fashion or lifestyle” actually is, nor will you ever be able to. That’s because you don’t use “hipster” to describe an actual group of people, but to describe a fictional stereotype that is an outlet for literally anything that annoys you.
The twist, of course, is that if it weren’t for your own insecurities, nothing that a “hipster” could do or wear would ever affect you emotionally. But you are insecure about your own authenticity - “Do I wear what I wear because I want to? Do I listen to my music because I truly like it? I’m certainly not like those filthy hipsters!” - so you project those feelings.
Suffice it to say, no one self-identifies as a hipster; the term is always applied to an Other, to separate the authentic Us from the inauthentic, “ironic” Them.
tl;dr: if you believe hipsters exist, you are a plebeian.
>Muh nobody who wasn't alive when it aired can watch this show
You can watch whatever you want but if you didn't watch it when you came out you'll never really understand it's significance. Shows like this should be laid to rest and remembered by those who experienced them fully. Trying to bring them back to squeeze more money out of them due to their recently found hipster appeal discredits the original work.
Posting OP's scene with sound:
Starts at 03:10
Also, general Twin Peaks bump with Donna
she is the saviour of season 2
audrey is still #1 though
that has nothing to do with the people watching it and everything to do with the people trying to profit. redirect your anger.
My go to sound when I'm studying is Kölsch.
Listen to pic related.
Also, thanks for starting a Twin Peaks thread.
I sort of get what you're saying. But saying fans of the show forced people into milking the series for another season is sort of the opposite. Wherever there's money to be made, somebody is going to want to profit.
I get that this third season probably isn't going to be 'Twin Peaks' but merely a name labelled to it to attract fans, but if it sucks you can still pretend like the third season wasn't part of Twin Peaks.
It is a closed chapter to me, but I still enjoyed the series when I watched them a few years after it had aired. Just saying.
Moira Kelly's Donna had zero depth and wasn't nearly as much of a qt 3.14.
I really really prefer Donna's character by Lara over Moira's Donna.
BROS BROS BROS
I girl just WhatsApp'd me telling me to tell her a secret. What do I say?
Nothing really but why even bother with her when the true goddess is around.
But I don't think it as even a bad part really. Except stuff like train car in the end, I think it was piss poorly executed.
Yes for completeness' sake if nothing else.
I was literally JUST studying to this.
I tend to look to minimal glitch/idm/techno for studying because, unlike ambient, it usually doesn't try to set up a theme or visual aesthetic for you to ponder. It's clean, precise, unintrusive, and helps align my attention to what I'm supposed to be working on. Pure left brain music.
Sorry if that sounds pretentious. It's just that I've always had a lot of trouble focusing, and I've found that this kind of music seems to work the best at drowning out outside noises without becoming a distraction itself.
Look into a checking out a record label called 'Raster-Noton' if you haven't already heard of it.
>It has about the same quality as the Windom Earle plot
Fuck no. Earle was a shitty stock villain and absolutely missed the tone of the show. The film with Lynch properly behind the wheel got it much better.
I always thought it was the other way around. I don't really care for the slow beginning but it gets progressively better (though with some hiccups).
What's the scariest part of twin peaks? I say it's were Leland is looking in the mirror, turns into bob and laughs
>you will never listen to music while drinking coffee with Audrey
I bet she would like ITAOTS
I mean the Windom Earle plot that included the Major. The major saved that plot.
But now that I rethink it, you're right. Windom Earle was a really stupid character and a bad follow-up to the James makes me Hurley plot.
I'd probably nominate this at least based on the first time I watched the show. Mainly though, the sequence leading up to that part. The still shots in the empty hospital corridors evoke very similar feeling to something by Kubrick (The Shining mainly). The one where the camera slowly starts moving forward is eery as fuck.
No, the one where Ronette wakes up, at the end of that one episode, I don't remember which and don't have the episode available at the moment.
The couch one is a strong contender too.
Have you tried classical music? I know it works for me
Also. Dirty three have an album called "ocean's songs" which happens to be my studying music for the past few weeks and it's really good..maybe a bit sad but try not to focus on it.
Dub is great music to do work to. The only music I can only do work to. Check out pic related.
Whatever happened to our monthly twin peaks threads? Those were the days.
OP: I always used Brian Eno's 'Discreet Music' (the first track just looped).

listen to incunabula
lost highway is practically the same structure as mulholland dr but comes off as gimmicky instead of masterpiecey to me.. there are a few god-tier scenes but I much preferrec mulholland.
also, how disturbing is eraserhead compared to other lynches? I keep putting that one off
>may have to skip doctrine and basscadet
haha yeah the whole vibe of the album is relaxed and contemplative and you get these 2 aggressive breakbeat (but good nonetheless) interlude out of nowhere. luv that record. wish i could afford the vinyls.
Well I watched it with a friend of mine, who likes Twin Peaks and some Lynch stuff in general (though not a huge fan per se), and he said it was the most disturbing thing he has ever seen.
I never thought of it that way myself though.
My favorite Autechre album too btw.
you won't be able to sleep for days after you see it. it's not just disturbing tho. there are some really memorable comic scenes, but also very dark at the same time. makes you wonder how fucked up mind david lynch has. basically, if i had to summarize what eraserhead is, i would say it's like david firth's stuff, only with a lot more meaning, substance and coherence. the music is also very avant-garde and i have a feeling its aesthetic influenced a number of today's lo-fi and noise artists.
tl,dr: watch it now, haha
I miss Twink Peaks and they're all such top qts, but it's a show you can watch only once
not that anon, but i have Eraserhead on my HDD, tried to watch it a few months ago, i think i was too high and bored as fuck so i stopped after the first 20 minutes. loved the atmosphere and all but i guess i wasn't in the mood for this kind of fuckery.
